Skills, creativity, positive attitude aside... love that he wears a helmet everytime he is on a board, even when he is the only one wearing it. Gives my kids and I great role model.
Taking off the helmet wouldn't be enough to look cool. Would also need sunglasses, a boombox in one hand and a 40 in the other, and to dangle his back leg off every flip trick.
The song goes so well with it, it feels like I'm watching some kind of skateboarding musical performance, Andy's such an awesome guy, all my homies love Andy
BIG CONGRATS ANDY! He was surgical with it! It's always so fun watching Andy skate. So much soul, and balance in everything he does. Reminds me very much of rodney mullen freestyling back in the day. Great job dude!
I literally mesmerized. Have been watching for this vid maybe dozen of times so far. Outstanding skill, and creativity - mostly old-school elements used to build up such a show. Very talented guy.
That half-flip! I call it a "flashbang," personally, and I love that trick so much. It's one of my favorite tricks to do and it's rad to see Andy work it into his routine. Congrats Andy!!!
Over here in New Zealand we call it a ta-dah, I think that name was givin to the trick because watching a skater set up for that trick you automatically assume they're about to do a kickflip then Ta-dah!!!! You assumed wrong 😂😂
It seems to be called 'anti' (anti-flip?) in the US. See Andy's qualification run and you can hear the commentator say it. Andy does it also in the Woodward Mano a Mano 2022 contest (miniramp battle).
@@neutrongarbage I think I first heard this called a 'cancel flip'. I am perhaps wrong, but thought anti flip was more of a late (under-)flip variation (and flipping all the way, the other way). edit: On second thought, maybe this is an anti flip also, as he cancels the kickflip with the front foot.
The first Manny trick with the nose rider to one foot back to nose with the twist around his foot to the nose spin thing! My lord this man is pure smooth!!!
A lot of your stuff is awesome the balance concentration coordination skills and time it takes to do it I used to do the the hang ten hang on hang 5 and do the 360 720 so on about 70% of the tricks that you used in a video that I watched I used to do back in the 80s I'm very proud of you thank you
Bro he almost recreated the classic Rodney Mullen vid from way back when! At first I was like "copycat" but then he did so good at recreating it that it's pretty impressive!
$10 by good morning is the perfect song for this run. I haven’t skated in a bit but every time I see Andy skate I just want to hit my local skate shop and build a board 🤙🏽
Andy skillfully begins the spin trick at the end of the competition, therefore starting a combo and stalling the clock at 0:00 until he finishes gathering points
Man is hearing a helmet for the message. Gotta admire it. What I would love to see is an Andy vs Rodney Interview. I bet Rodney loves what People like andy made out of Skateboarding, kind of following his legacy.
Congratulations Andy and I also seen Mike Osterman in 4th.... That's awesome, congrats Mike. Now I want to see everyones runs compared to Andy's runs. 😁
I’m a fan of Andy but I have no idea how he won I thought 2nd-4th all had better routines, I’m sure those manuals aren’t easy but the other guys had a lot more cool freestyle tricks mixed in
I think this run added more to the language of Freestyle, a few tricks were rarely, if ever done at all, or he at least puts his own spin on it. Those manuals in his second run where keeps circling whilst maintaining perfect balance, thats something ive never seen in any other run. Also, both his runs where flawless, and both were different, so i guess thats why he won. He earned it fair and square imo
@@netzerish yup. Also, the guy who placed 3rd had a trick that was never done before (i believe?), he wrote a few books on trick-tips in the 80's and 90's in Germany, he's an OG for sure. Anyways, to see a kneeled reverse nose-manual was mind blowing to me!
Andy Anderson is the true version of what mullen would have been into days era the next version is what where watching but then add like Carlos ribero skating into all of this Tony hawk and Danny way lol
That's what I don't understand, everyone so hyped about this kid like he's changing skateboarding... When all he's doing is a far less impressive half-assed version of what Rodney Mullen did decades ago. Why is this impressive to people anymore? Once you see Rodney, things like this just become very "meh.".
Thank you dude, I don't get the hype. Yuta can body him. He's just doing a much less impressive half-assed version of what Rodney Mullen did decades ago. I don't get why everybody's so pumped about him.

@@evorider3689 no skull dude? pretty fucking cool.
NPC-s spotted, way to pull attention away from the things that matter onto what he wears
he wears it mostly just to be arole model. because he has said efore he actually doesn't wear it all the time but only if camera is there

One of the best all around, and a great representation of the diversity in Skateboarding.
Freestyle contests, mini ramp contests, street contests… Andy can shine in any skate scenario. Unique!
Deserved it! He looks so calm and smooth on his board. Its really like dancing
It's not like dancing.
It is dancing. By any definition.

Andy in his element and his natural surroundings 😊
Well deserved win, extremely well put together run!

how could he not with that run, in my opinion those are much more difficult tricks than pogo and rail tricks.
If his competitors were as consistent, they probably would've had to have done another round.
