The new G7 is a stunning laptop that has excellent build quality and internal accessibility for an inexpensive gaming laptop. The white and blue colors looks AWESOME. It's this satin finish with metallic blue accents. Thermal performance is also strong. Good temps and quiet fans on load.

I have the G7 15 but my only con with it is when im playing games the fans are extremely loud and the laptop gets very very hot. Any ideas on what I can do ?? Sometimes when Im on google or just chilling on it the fans ramp up and then slowly go back down over a few minutes

I have the g7 with i78750 and 1060maxq! You should really consider repasting the laptop, undervolting and cleaning its fans! Max temps before was 99°c on 3.4 ghz and its 85 on 3.9ghz now
When I play games on mine it tends to stutter every few minutes.

@@SteadfastWL did you solve it? i did it by limiting the max cpu state from 100 % - to 99% on the power settings

Laptop size was never a big deal to me. Bigger laptops, better cooling, especially when I'm switching from playing games, to doing heavy 3D work. Those sleeker laptops are still good, but I feel like they never last in the long run. This G7 will def be my new laptop for school. Thanks Dave! Literally only channel I go to for laptop reviews and recommendations.

how is the heat with it when under load? im currently thinking of getting it but scared of it being too hot
@@joey4667 so far the only games I have tried on this Fallout 4 (ultra settings, Overwatch (Epic settings) and Resident Evil 7( with everything on high, interlaced mode, 1.5 texture resolutions) I game for bout 2hrs a day. I would say the laptop stays relatively cool however in between the panel and the keyboard it does get a bit warm.. Maybe even hot.. But then again that's where the GPU is located.. But it's not so hot 🔥 where you'll burn your fingers or something like. I feel like it's normal for a laptop. On a side note, when you're not gaming or doing anything intense. The whole laptop stays pretty cool I must say. Overall I like the Dell G7 and I fucks with it. I got this for $999.99 with max specs. Good deal if you ask me.

some reviews say that the screen is bad . 1080p version . very dim and poor colors . is it your case

after all this impressive editing, im not even sure anymore that i am watching these videos for the laptops
TO ANYONE INTEND ON BUYING DELL LAPTOPS, DO NOT UPGRADE THE BIOS TO VERSION 1.4 OR ABOVE.
That said, I have the Dell G7 version 1.2.1, and it performs very well so far.
The thermal is good, the parts just below the hinges can get pretty hot, but the left side stays cool.
I played overwatch on Ultra for 2 hours, GPU max temp is 45C.
Solid build, although it's a bit heavy. The temp management is pretty good too.
This laptop is solid unless you upgrade the BIOS.
Do not upgrade the BIOS to versions beyond 1.3 (1.3 is ok, 1.4 or 1.5 are bad) due to the horrible fan management of the latter version.
If I buy it now which bios will I get?
@@cw1206 Depending on the batch. I asked the vendor first to confirm that mine wasn't 1.4 or beyond.
my case is a little bit different, I actually get a replacement unit from Dell because my current 7567 is obsolete as they said. However when I ask they say they can't contact the assembly line to ensure which bios and lcd panel I will get, however I'm still asking them to try right now though.
@@cw1206 I see. Yeah it still doesn't hurt to ask them if they can do anything about it. I hope you do get v1.2. Most ppl who recently bought theirs still get that version (at least those who reported about it on reddit)

Just bought this laptop in white during Dell's Labor Day sale. Mainly using it for video editing in Premiere and After Effects. The 6 core i7 and 1060 Max Q is a big upgrade over my last laptop with a dual core i7 5500u and GeForce 950m. Overall this laptop is a great value and being able to get a 6 core i7 in this price range is phenomenal.

I like how the 7577 was the 3rd version of the original 7559, however now it's 1st gen of the g7 as these look almost identical give or take the color. I would be curious to try one of these, however I couldn't justify giving up the 7567. The battery and sub, not to mention the all around look are just better in all terms. However the 7577 and this have mastered the keyboard flex. I'll givem that.

The 2018 HP Omen has been released for almost 2 months now and yet not one channel has made a PROPER review of it. There are some videos out there but nothing near to Dave Lee here. Kindly make a review on it. P.S it has thinner bezels and is a great competitor to the dell G7.
The Keyboard and Trackpad on the G7 is literally what sold me. Feels like a Macbook Pro.

Wow. Incredible laptop. Amazing upgradeability/repairability. I do wish they would make the screen slightly brighter at about 300 nits.. apart from that, can't complain. Glad we're moving away from the nasty 'gaming red' colour scheme.
Callusny I just wished they would have made the hinges a little easier access. As a consumer I do alot of my own repairs and tweaks to my devices, but hinges require a lot of removal.
What scares me is the fact that I got the i7 7577 last year, and I was looking for a version two, and I stumbled across this video. You said exactly what I had and what I wanted to go for, and it shook me
Just picked this laptop up after buying FOUR other laptops and returning them all because of horrible thermals! I havent fully tested it out yet but I can already see MUCH better thermals compared to the other high powered thin laptops ive tried. Yes its a bit thick and looks a little outdated compared to most of the modern laptops but i honestly prefer the thicker exterior for a real thermal solution. The only thing I wish is that Dell offered a 4k version!
I have the 7577, also made a review of it - It's probably one of the best laptops that are still out there on the market. Competitive price and amazing value. Great Review as always, keep it up buddy!
Got the 7577 last year based on your recommendation when it went on sale, and it's been a keeper.
High-end mobile CPU with midrange GPU for $800 or less was just unthinkable even a few years ago.
I really like thicker laptops but when its thin it does look clean and sleek but when its thick like some of the gaming laptops, I just have the sense that it looks so good, powerful and cool

Just got the g7 today!I was playing Doom for 4 hours straight in 4K and achieving decent FPS. Good machine apart from it gets warm wen your gaming on ultra settings for a while . but in medium and high doom settings it stays relatively cool. and doom is quite a demanding game.good machine!!!

Thanks Dave, I don't regret my decision buying this laptop. Almost two years after I buy this beauty and still running like a beast. Got myself the i7 and gtx 1050ti one and battery is still 6hrs strong (last month checked). It's a shame that the entry G7 15 7500 model doesn't have a TB3 port
yeah best laptop i have ever had. had to replace my battery and keyboard at some point tho
@@gideonunger7284 yups, have had this laptop for 4 years now, and my only problem is to change the battery. All else still works just fine. Maybe i will consider buying a tablet/pad because this laptop feels heavier year after year (or i'm just getting older lol)
Dell when making this laptoo was like "Yo! this shit is upgradable with no hassle at all, you're welcome". Seriously! other laptop manufacturers need to have this mindset for their consumers, supporting them to enhance and upgrade their laptops.

Thats a really beautiful laptop! I kinda like the sporty style / feeling to it :D! Indeed it would be flawless if the bezels were more flushed, and the colors of the bezel matched the keyboard, and lastly with white LEDs, it'd be a hella beast! I'd pick it in a heartbeat XD!
Just got my laptop. It looks great and feels very sturdy and premium, even though the chasis is plastic. In terms of performance, out of the box I'm noticing lag on simple things like exploring the internet or opening up folders or programs, but possibly I have to run some updates first. I like the computer regardless and though I'm like 2% disappointed in the little bit of lag from time to time, overall the computer runs great.
I bought a gs66 with the 3070 today and compared it with my 7588 I’ve had for a year. I’m taking the gs66 back. Love my g7
