The reason why Pixel screenshot can't be created from Gemini app is because they are using two completely separate models one running on device and the other one is running in cloud. Google is keeping all of your screenshots on device for privacy reasons so that's why the Gemini model that's running in cloud can't look into your pixel screenshots app

By your logic, pixel would have more than 10 separated apps in 2027 each for screenshots, download images, download videos, website bookmarks, photos, videos, edited videos and so on lmao

I've noticed every single RUclipsr that has a Pixel 9 Pro neglect turning on HDR when they use video boost. If you do not turn on HDR, the video you receive from video boost will be an SDR. Please turn on HDR if you plan on doing any type of video comparison. Otherwise the highlights will be blown out and shadows will be overexposed...

    Hi Dave,
I asked Gemini on my Pixel 7 to summarise this video and this is what showed up. So apparently this is not a Pixel 9 series-exclusive feature.
In this video, Dave2D reviews the new Google Pixel 9 Pro XL. Overall, he is impressed with the phone, but he has some criticisms. The hardware has minimal updates from the previous generation, and the AI software is not particularly impressive. However, the battery life is very good, and the camera is excellent.
Here are some of the key points from the review:
    * Hardware: The phone has a new flat design, a brighter screen, and ultrasonic fingerprint sensors. The haptics and speakers are the same as the previous generation. The new chip is barely faster than the previous generation, and it throttles down quickly when playing heavy games.
    * Software: The phone has three new AI features: the ability to summarize a RUclips video using Gemini, the Pixel Studio app, and the ability to search through screenshots. The Pixel Studio app is a lot of fun, but it is not very useful. The ability to search through screenshots is a useful feature.
    * Camera: The camera is the best part of the phone. The telephoto lens is much better than the previous generation, and the video stabilization is good. The front-facing camera is now 42 megapixels, but the image quality is not much different from the previous generation.
    * Price: The phone is $100 more expensive than the previous generation. However, it is likely to go on sale for much less than the MSRP.
Dave2D recommends the phone to people who are looking for a good camera phone with excellent battery life. However, he does not think that the AI features are worth the price.

Yeah, I used Gemini on my Pixel 7 Pro to make similar pictures. So, is there an advantage of running this part of Gemini on a Pixel 9? My Gemini summary of this RUclips video:
In this video, Google Pixel 9 Pro XL is being reviewed. Overall, the reviewer is impressed with the phone, especially the camera and battery life. However, the reviewer also notes that the phone has some drawbacks, such as the price and the lack of exclusive Gemini features.
Here is a summary of the key points in the video:
      * Hardware: The phone has a new flat design, brighter screens, and ultrasonic fingerprint sensors. The new chip is barely faster than the previous generation, but the battery life is very impressive.
      * Software: The big thing with phone software is AI. The reviewer attributes the software or the AI experience into kind of two pillars: system software and camera software.
      * System software: The reviewer expected more exclusive features that lean on Gemini on this phone, but there are only three:
      * The ability to summarize a RUclips video using Gemini.
      * The pixel studio, an AI image generation app.
      * The ability to search through screenshots for a specific or particular thing.
      * Camera software: The reviewer highlights the following AI-powered camera features:
      * Super res Zoom: an incredibly powerful 20x Zoom.
      * 8K video.
      * Magic editor: allows you to kind of remove objects and replace it with your own creation.
      * Zoom enhancement: allows you to take a regular photo Zoom in and then use AI to generate detail.
      * Camera: The telephoto on the Pixel 9 Pro is way better this year than the previous generation. Video stabilization though still isn't great. The front-facing camera is now a way higher resolution sensor.
      * Pricing: The devices are $100 more than the previous generation.
Overall, the reviewer is impressed with the Pixel 9 Pro XL, but notes that the price is a bit high. The reviewer also believes that the AI features, such as the ability to summarize RUclips videos and generate images, are not worth the extra cost. However, the reviewer does believe that the camera features are worth the price.
I hope this summary is helpful!

Simple phone that does the basics perfectly fine for almost 4 years now, no useless AI features that slow down the device, or are not generally available in my country and language, and not a wallet drainer. I do think i have to upgrade now, but it will be something in the budget segment, such as the A55, for sure. It's just not worth it to spend so much on a phone these days...

Considering that Google decided to price these to directly compete with Apple's and Samsung's offerings they definitely need the following:
      - Qi 2 wireless support
      - 45+ W charging
      - SD card support
      - higher base storage
      - Faster storage(especially the 9 pro XL which has way slower read/write speeds compared to the S24 Ultra). So basically at least the pro XL model need ufs 4.0.
      - personally, I hate glossy glass so all the models should just have matte metal rails and matte glass on the back.
      - Pro XL model has no reason to exist other than bigger display and battery. Doesn't have any extra features to justify $100 bump.
I also have some software complaints:
      - Add option to force Material You on app icons that haven't updated to support it.
      - Fix Quick settings menu to work like they used to(like actual toggles instead of buttons to open another window where you have to toggle shit) Literally every other company including Apple does it better. IDK why Google made it worse.
      - Unify all Gemini features into one Gemini experience and enhance it with Google Assistant since base Gemini is trash unless you have Advanced version.
      - Better battery optimization. From what I'm hearing the 9 pro XL can't even compare to other phones in its class.
      - Tone down the post-processing on images
      - Despite their claims, video needs significant improvements to justify the price bumps.
There's probably more but I can't think of anymore.

    Can anyone relate to this?
As a Pixel 7 Pro owner, there are a few things that really frustrate me about the device-specifically, the lack of customization options for small but important features.
I don't use the search bar at the bottom of the home screen at all, but I can't simply switch it off. The only way to remove it is by using Nova Launcher, which feels unnecessary.
The notification bar tiles are unnecessarily large. I frequently need to switch off my data connection during work, but this requires an extra, unnecessary step because the data toggle is hidden under the "Internet" subcategory. Why isn't there an option to switch to a regular notification bar layout, like the one Samsung and other brands offer, without subcategories?
In Google Photos, I'm constantly seeing the message, "Unlock the power of Google Photos by turning on Backup." What if I don't want to back up anything? The message keeps appearing on my screen, and there's no way to turn it off permanently.
I switched to the Pixel from the OnePlus series because I expected a clean Android experience with Google phones. However, I've found that some of the forced features and persistent messages that you can't disable are even more frustrating than what you'd encounter with other brands.

Interesting enough is the realization that there isn't really a phone running stock android.
Pixel phones have pixel android version while Samsung has one UI android version.
Once you get to that realization it changes your mindset and expectations.
For example I am now more actively open to considering one UI. The only thing preventing me is the double apps issue.

what could've been improved instead of a new size and higher prices:
    - 100W charging
    - good quality, big ultrawide lens
    - variable zoom like Sonys 3.5-7.1x instead of the simple 5x
    - expandable storage, headphone-jack, etc
    in my opinion:
    - plastic back instead of glass (cheaper+doesn't brake)
    - bigger battery instead of wireless charging (inefficient, consumes more power and wears the battery more compared to cable charging)

In this video, Dave2D reviews the new Google Pixel 9 Pro XL. He starts by talking about the hardware, which is very similar to the previous generation. The new shape is flatter and the screens are brighter. The fingerprint sensors are ultrasonic and the haptics and speakers are the same. The chip is barely faster than the previous generation and it throttles down quickly when playing heavy games. However, the battery life is very impressive.
Then, Dave2D talks about the software, which is the most interesting part of the review. He talks about the new Gemini AI features, which include the ability to summarize a RUclips video, the Pixel Studio app, and the Screenshots app. He also talks about the new camera features, which include the super res Zoom, 8K video, and the magic editor.
Finally, Dave2D talks about the pricing of the new Pixel 9 Pro XL, which is $100 more than the previous generation. He says that the AI features are not worth the price and that you can wait a few months for the price to drop. However, he does say that the camera features are very impressive and that they are worth the price.

Love my RedMagic8S which is vastly superior (except the camera, its passable) in every way (at half the price) except it's implementation of Android 14 is janky. Not good when I depend on the phone to notify me when a message or call arrives.

16:17 Whuuuttt? That's really really impressive.
18:22 Pretty sure that's software trick, if you look at the sentence in the middle, writing is more clearly readable in the Pixel 8 Pro photo results.

    Great review/comparison as always!
Can you please compare the newest OnePlus Open (Apex/crimson), the Pixel 9 pro Fold, and the Galaxy Z Fold 6 as well, pleeeeease?!
Would love to see an in depth comparison of all 3 in terms of Hinge Quality, performance, battery life, camera, and multi-tasking. Am a power-user and I’ve been wanting to buy a foldable for some time now because of the multi-tasking features but I’m super skeptical of the previously mentioned categories because it just feels wiser to use something like the s24 Ultra without having to compromise on build quality (hinges), camera reliability, software bs, battery life or performance… Would be great to multitask more but that means nothing if am paying more $ for a compromise in any one of those areas.
