Always wanted to get a Pixel for many years, but each year i decided against as it was always falling short and missing things. I finally bit the bullet on the 7 pro. Unfortunately other than the camera it disappointed. The same happened with the Pixel 8 pro. Both times I only had the phones for 6 months because of this. The Pixels a have only been properly available in Norway for 2 years (8 and now 9). Really tempted for the 9 Pro XL, as a replacer for my 14PM. The cameras looks alot better then the 14 (I like more dynamic and punchy photos) and the 30x zoom looks nice. Great to see battery and the fingerprint sensor has improved. If you buy it directly from Google, you get enough store credit for a new set og Buds Pro 2. That is dragging me towards it for sure. 😊
I had some high hopes for the P9 series, with the P9P the one I was eyeing off... however, there's really nothing I find compelling enough for me to upgrade from my Pixel 6, not even with all the gimmicky AI features they're banging on about (couldn't care less TBH)! Oh well, I'll wait for the P10 series and its TSMC Tensor G5 5nm tech... I'd like to think it would be worth upgrading then. Thanks Tech Chap for a great review. 😎
How is the social media camera quality? In an interview Google said that they also worked heavily on improving that. Would love a YT Short showing the difference between the P8P and P9P XL.
@@Jonerssyeah I think they also worked on that too, I've seen a comparison for photos and it did okay for Instagram and Snapchat compared to iphone, but I haven't seen video test
I am an iPhone 15pro user, but i have to say that Google has always focused on AI and on their camera. They were never focused on playing ram intensive games or games in general. The phone is optimized for AI that’s what they excel at and do it well! The excess ram is really meant for AI use/tasks. Heck my iPhone 15pro gets pretty warm or hot when on 5g+ and using maps when driving. I think this new design is refreshing and it will finally make you feel as though you are getting your monies worth compared to the build quality of the 8 line up. I suspect it’s going to be a while before you see a new design line up. Stats show that most iPhone users go to the Pixel when leaving Apple because of its closer bare bones UI, and I think it was pretty smart of them to make the phone look very similar to the iPhone. Lastly, I think with RCS coming to the iPhone in September, the blue/ green bubble iMessage hypnotic phenomenon will be coming to a close.
This will be my first time ever trying a pixel phone! Coming from an iphone 13 pro i ordered the 9 pro xl in rose quartz it arrives tomorrow 😊 Thank you for the review i'm excited to try out the phone!
Me too! Im switching my iPhone 12 Pro Max for the pixel 9pro xl in rose quartz too, I’m from Brazil but I’ll move to Germany next month so I bought it there (it has arrived already but I can’t use it cause I’m still in Brazil 😩) I got the one with the watch 3, I’m very curious on how it’s gonna be, have you got yours yet? How was it?
@@youngdani7836 how? Why? The pixel 9 pro xl will be better than a 13 pro with everything including performance, the only exception might be video and I'm pretty sure it'll still be better
Good video mate. Interesting to look at the photos comparison between the 8 and 9 , quite a few of the 8 pro's I preferred over the 9 , some the 9 were definitely slightly better , however in my eyes , it was more or less a draw . Sometimes newer models don't always mean better in every way . For example having a new model phone with one billion nits of screen brightness sounds good on paper , but if in the real world it becomes quite dim after only 2 minutes , then having one billion nits in the first place was fairly pointless ! The new finger print sensor would be nice , the one on my 8 pro is so bad I have enabled the pin pattern. The FPS on the 8 is very inconsistent, I mentioned that to my younger brother, he said his pixel 7 was the same. I go for a half hour walk nearly every day when I am feeling up to it ( because I'm old) , I have my iPhone 14 pro max with me playing music , displaying my health app , and the screen remains at a brightness that is nicely legible in direct sunlight the whole time, and I'm hanging on to the phone the whole time , occasionally stopping to take some photos of the landscape , nature ( I live near acreage we call the kangaroo paddocks). I wouldn't mind having the 9 pro XL , but for the most part, it seems like a pretty small improvement overall, and I don't game on a phone which neither pixel is really good at anyway , and any modest improvements in the 9 pro chipset just do not look compelling when the 8 pro is still quite fast in day to day use. And the AI stuff , I'm not really all that excited about it , a lot of it looks pretty gimmicky to me.
The speaker blocking part is an important point that you mentioned. It is also there in the Samsung Galaxy Ultra lineup. This is annoying. Cause while most of us are right-handed, and also, if you flip the phone, then you are now going to notice the camera grill more due to not being used to it on the right side. Your hand going to have to be used to holding it with the camera bump. The list goes on. Don't know who makes these weird decisions.
Yeah the tensor G4 is still not anywhere near the rest of the competition. But coming from the pixel 7 pro to the 9 pro xl is significant. My pixel 7 pro got so hot so easily just scrolling on Instagram (on wifi) and the modem was trash. It also struggled just being a phone with dropping cell signal frequently, struggling to send and receive text/mms messages, connecting gps, and knowing what dorection I was facing during navigation. Those little things are much improved between the 7 pro and 9 pro xl. It seems like a lot of the small details are much more thought out to make this phone better to use day to day.
All the new features are nice but they still need to improve the G4. Performing worse than the 8 gen 2 from almost 2 years ago while still being priced around other flagshups
8 gen 2? I thought it was around 888 to 8 gen 1 performance. 8 gen 2 is actually better than I expected if true, I have my pro XL coming in later today gonna use as my second phone while the iPhone 15 pro max is my main.
Google has the opportunity but they don't do it, USA has sanctioned Huawei but they're able to get 970k AnTuTu. Google should use snapdragon or dimensity cause tensor is not going well
No really defending it ...but nobody seems to mention p9p can process 45 tokens vs snapdragon 3 15 tokens. As it's now AI that differentiates phones, AI tokens will be an increasingly important metric, and googles ahead. Next year's tmsc port should hopefully improve things alot
Not for me. I hate this trend of slathering every single feature with unnecessary AI. The entire phone just seems to be full of gimmicky features that you use once and then forget even exists.
I bet you said the same thing when text messaging came out "that's such a gimmick, why wouldn't you just call?", then again said the same thing when the touch screen came out, "I can type faster on real buttons!"
Nah , I think he is right up to a point , a lot of the AI stuff is very much a novelty, people will no doubt play with the toys for a couple of weeks then it will get forgotten, the more useful parts will get used , and that is the way it has always been.@@divertiti
I love my pixel 9 pro xl, in day to day use its fantastic! Very snappy, zero Lag, battery life is solid and YES they did fix the overheating issues. Traded in my pixel 7 pro for this and I don't regret it one bit
I'm keeping my 7 Pro. It was like the 9 now back then, but way cheaper. AI is just starting now and a TMSC Pixel 10 could be... insanly better. Soooo... another year with, in my opinion, still the best Pixel so far. 😀
What’s interesting is that google is charging $1000+ for their own custom chip which you’d think be cheaper to mass produce for their phones. I don’t even want to imagine how much google would charge for say a Pixel 10 pro XL with a SD 8 Gen 4
@@artificialstyle998 We have to start somewhere. The Tensor G5 should be a custom TSMC SoC. The first chips will be rough. They're only charging this much because everyone else is, they would know that if they charged $1,500 for a slab phone, it would not sell.
It’s interesting that no one brings up how lurchy the Pixel 8 Pro’s scrolling was on third-party apps like Twitter or reddit. Yeah, the phone feels smooth when you’re running Google’s apps, but I think this disparity deserves to be mentioned. I hope the P9P is smoother. 🙏
@@samx300 i wonder if its just some updates to the app that need to be done to fix it. Reddit was SUPER stuttery on my Samsung S9 tablet when I first purchased it. But about 6 months after and a few updates later, its as smooth as anything else.
@@edward7792 Yes, absolutely. It's not that a powerful device like the P8 Pro, the 9 Pro XL etc are incapable of running the Reddit app smoothly. It's an app/software issue, not a device wide issue.
Not bothered by the AI stuff (although that may change once I've used it) but FINALLY having a Pro version in the smaller form factor is what I have been wanting since the Pixel 5 days. I was going to hold on to my 8Pro and skip this generation, but the form factor of the 9Pro (not XL) is enough for me to place an order (combined with trade in, upgraded storage size, and google store credit means I am paying £400 which isn't too shabby).
I can't say I've seen the screen dimming issues this severe on any other phone that I've used for photography outdoors (including on 90F days), S22U, S23U, OnePlus 12, Fold 2-5, heck even my Xperia 1 IV (known for horrible heating) stayed brighter outdoors than this. I don't think that's "normal" for a phone and is really concerning for me. I was considering a P9P since my OP12 is full of bugs, but this might be enough to make me not go for it, esp since I push phones pretty hard.
@@davidbrown6137 It's easy to find info about it online, there are several major bugs that had me giving up on mine. When you swap apps with the app switcher certain ones freeze for a full 2-3 seconds, notifications randomly disappear or don't show up on lock screen, etc...
Thanks for your excellent review--my partner has a 60th soon--and has endured an iPhone 6 Plus for eons--despite a Pixel camera fixation--so I've just added a 9 Pro XL 0.5TB to my cart for this weekend's big 60th birthday pressie!
This is the best review I have seen. You always touch on what is important without the gimmicks. I wish the algorithm showed me your videos more often.
Upgraded to the XL from a Pixel 6 Pro and generally think it was worthwhile. My provider was offering $800USD in discounts so the final price wasn't painful. I have found image quality and camera features, obviously, much improved over my 3+ year-old phone. Google is a software company first and I'm still looking for use cases for some of their niche features. After a couple of weeks I'm happy with the new phone but can see where some users may demand more of a flagship.
I just got my 9 pro XXL a clfew days ago and I absolutely love it so far! Moved from a galaxy 22 and I'm happy so far. I need to do more testing, especially with the camera, but it's been great up to this point.
I've ordered the 9 pro fold as I love big screens a looks like the best looking foldable phone in my opinion! Can't wait for it to arrive! 🎉 Good review btw!
thank you for mentioning pwm,it is very important for some of us actually, had to sell my s23u from the headaches/migraines so ill have to skip the 9pro too it seems 😅
Fantastic review, that actually conveys details not seen elsewhere, however, in the comparison 9 vs Pro it should be mentioned that there is no UWB in the 9, whereas the 9 Pro is offering it - for the first time in the more compact format.
Well, after a year of using my Google Pixel 8, I just learned from a video that it has a split-screen feature. I’m upgrading to the Google Pixel 9 XL, which I’ll be receiving tomorrow.
Best review of the new pixel for me, tackled all of the significant pros/cons of the phone, not everyone includes astrophotography and some little details on pixel lineup. Good job tech chap! 👏👏
Good Review of Pro 9, got a 8 and likely to wait next year to either upgrade in sale to 9 Pro or dig in to get 10 pro; depending upon specs and price (likely another £100 on the bill ticket), there's no rush as 8 pro is good
OMG! I was going to buy this, but it STILL has the issue where the screen dims so dark after a minute outside. It is so dark, it’s basically unusable. I need a new phone, but don’t want apple or Samsung. I want a clean android experience with great cameras.
Yes the chip is still not upto par with its competitors, but I personally look at this phone as a whole. Coming from the pixel 6, I personally would enjoy the brighter faster screen, better cameras, better build and longer battery life.
My first Google phone was the Pixel 6 Pro. I freaking LOVED that phone. Sadly i smashed the screen on a counter corner and had to buy a basic Pixel 7. Absolutely loathed the "basic"... I just got my 256Gb 9ProXL and i cannot hate on how quick it is, the camera, and i am learning to figure out this Gemini Advanced (1-year) Subscription. I love the phone. Im not a super-nerd, so i cant bitch about the chipset or whatever. I have T-Mobile and will be paying $20/mo for this Pro XL. Thats hard to beat, with unlimited everything. I've had this device for 4 days so far(?). Zero complaints just yet
It's so annoying, because this could've been THE MOMENT. It's not clear who was responsible, but from the leaks it is clear that this phone was meant to launch with the Google (or Qualcomm licensed) CPU core, printed by TSMC's old 3nm. But somebody shit the bed, and they had to panic and refresh the G3 into the G4 at the last minute. Somebody in the supply chain, or even in Tensor team, shit the bed somewhere. I think Google been planning for a while to launch this with the improved cameras, SoC, NPU, and Gemini all together, and had to compromise somewhere. Sucks. edit also printing the SoC on Samsung's latest-but-outdated 4 nano is just bizarre. The Exynos 2400 was actually BRILLIANT, so why wouldn't Google demand that they produce the Tensor G4 on that process? Absolutely bizarre.
All of these comparisons to last years model is fine... but many of us are upgrading from older pixels. For me, the heyday of upgrading every year is over as there are fewer "must have" features in the newer models. My Pixel 4a 5G has been rock solid for almost 4 years now and had no reason to upgrade. I'm getting the 9 Pro now and I'm pretty sure I wont be interested upgrading until the 11 at the earliest
3:01 Finally, someone talked about speakers Mrwhoosetheboss also talked about speakers and haptics but he said "they are exactly the same as last year Pixel 8 pro" Speakers and haptics are very important factors along with camera for me when it comes to buying phones Good know they are improved on Pixel 9
Currently using 14 Pro Max, before that I was always an android user. Never used pixel before, google pixel 9 XL is so tempting. Maybe next year pixel 10 comes out, I seriously consider move back to android!
I have a new 9 Pro XL. I have owned at 6 and 7. No one is showing the delay when taking photos. When taking photos in regular Photo Mode at 50mp and HDR and More Light off, this new phone has a 1-2 sec delay in full sun days. It is taking a photo as if it is too dark. Is this normal? Was this how the 8 Pro worked? If so I am returning this phone. I need to take many photos fast and the Action pan is only 12.5 mp. The quality sucks. Also, the video mode at 4k was very shaky. Some good things: Working with this phone for over 2 hours I feel the overheating problem is much better. My 7 Pro would overheat doing what I did for 2 hours. The finger sensor works. The old light one never worked for me. AI is faster. Another bad thing: You can not turn off Circle to Search like you could on my 7 maybe they did that on 8 I do not know. The boost video thing is lame and takes forever. Then you have to add it to your backed-up storage and I think that is the idea to sell more storage. Lame. I want this phone to work for me. Please let me know if you know about the delay.
I think the slower shutter is to capture more frames and make the image better. Older pixels shoot slowly and images were better. From tesnor they made it fast and images are bad. I think its better to have it slow
The battery test results btw the S24 Ultra and P9 Xl are quite negligible They're pretty close and not far behind apple with it's 15 pro max not even using a full 1440p resolution
12:07 I love how Google phones are retaining and capturing true to life photos. The way that the Pixels cameras capture the colors accurately is highly satisfying, especially retaining the accurate color of the human body. And this should be the default setup of the camera capturing capability, whereby true to life image is captured first, then the user or customer can modify the image according to their personal taste or liking.
the fact they spend time on AI instead of fixing the auto dimming when you're outside is dumb, stop the hype chase and properly fix the thing people need
@@fabolousjada5070agree. Let's turn of 5g since it sucks on pixel. Let's turn off auto brightness if it sucks Let's don't use the phone if the battery sucks 😂
nobody asked for AI I guess at this point. It's good to have it, but not necessary like auto dimming, auto brightness and so many other features to improve but left behind
The Tensor G4 is a little "Rubbish" when compared to the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 or MediaTek Dimensity 9400. Why don't Google just drop the Tensor chip and embrace Snapdragon? They are charging a premium price for a mid-range processor. The G4 is enough to turn me away from buying this phone.
They are not going back to Qualcomm!!! Instead they are changing manufacturers bacause their chips were made by samsung exynos and their chips are not very performant. Once they go to tsmc the processor will not so "rubbish". Just wait.
They dropped Qualcomm due to lack of extended support and being subject to their policies. Designing and fabricating the chip themselves means they are in control and can support the chips for as long as necessary. When they first started the Tensor line with the P6 line, I think Qualcomm would only guarantee 2-3 years of chip support so they couldn't promise those long periods of OS and security upgrades because the chip manufacturer wouldn't create the patches necessary.
Relatively speaking, the S24 Ultra is in a different category. The 9 Pro XL is in the league of the S24 Plus. I think Samsung should rename the Plus to Pro
Why, because the S24 has a stylus pen? The Pixel 9 (even the Pixel 6) shoot better pictures than the Samsung, run much better speech recognition and AI without internet. P9 has better and cleaner UI without duplication of apps. The screen on the P9 is on par with the Samsung. The Samsung has more brute power, so better for gaming...and if you must have a pen it's better. It doesn't have any killer features above the P9 to put it in a different league as you suggest.
@@bodrulm1 because they are more comparatively priced. The only difference between the P9 and P9XL is the size and battery. Just like the S24 and S24+.
@TheFCBR80 Samsung uses Snapdragon, like 90% of all other Androids, and no, Tensor does not outperform either. They would be the only reviewer out there with such results making then questionable at best.
This is not anything about the Pixel phones but what are your recommendations for laptops at the price range of about 750 euros? The inspiron 16 looked very nice with an amd 7 8840u processor. Do you also think there will be any discounts on maybe the intel chips with lunar lake chips releasing like tomorrow. I just want a laptop for study and maybe some light gaming like minecraft. I would like to keep it for some years and for it to be a bit future proof so maybe the AI of the inspiron 16 would be usefull. I'd like to have your opinion! Great video's! Thank you for them!
Google's point and shoot cameras, light exposure (especially direct sun foto), and stock Android and the now playing feature is why i stick with Google Pixel. There are many things to dislike but these features are so well implemented that is hard to go back to another brand
T mobile here in USA Las Vegas offered me a free Pixel 9 pro xl obsidian 512 gb and all i had to do is pay taxes, open a new line ( I closed my old line ) and because of that i had to change my number. But beside that all I had to pay is 83$ sales tax and get the Pixel 9 pro xl :). I dont have to trade my old device either, which is a ROG Phone 5 and its getting a tad older.
About those free 2 years with Gemini... Something that they aren't telling anybody that's kind of in the small print. If you had a Pixel that had the Pixel Pass, and you kept the Pixel Pass program for the cheaper price that it gives you for RUclips premium, RUclips, music, etc.- Even though they wussed out on what the program was supposed to be before they had even completed the first two years of the 2-year cycle of the program. You can't have the free 2 years of Gemini upgrade unless you give up your pixel pass.
It is worth upgrading tho', the $699 trade in for the 8Pro, the $200 google store credit and the $109 credit for google one users, makes it pretty much a steal
lovin your review, good coverage with pwm dimming info for your viewers who are suffering from it, other popular youtubers dont cover it at all (boohoo!)......Thank you
If you are gaming on your phone, I feel really bad for you. You can buy a PS4 pro for cheap nowadays and play every game better than any phone can. DO NOT BUY A PHONE TO GAME. Specs and benchmarks aren't everything as well. Cars can be faster than others while having less horsepower for example. If comes down to how it's tuned and how it handles.
How is it ? I may get the pixel 9 pro 😅
How was it?
@@silvaamanda4738why can't you use it in Brazil? 🤔
Worst decision you ever made
@@youngdani7836 how?
Performing worse than the 8 gen 2 from almost 2 years ago while still being priced around other flagshups
yeahhhh - agreed.
Google should use snapdragon or dimensity cause tensor is not going well
@@green_106why would Google care when tons of pixel fanboy gladly defending and paying similar price for the outdated spec tensor
No really defending it ...but nobody seems to mention p9p can process 45 tokens vs snapdragon 3 15 tokens. As it's now AI that differentiates phones, AI tokens will be an increasingly important metric, and googles ahead. Next year's tmsc port should hopefully improve things alot
i feel like the editing on this video is just next level
Not for me. I hate this trend of slathering every single feature with unnecessary AI. The entire phone just seems to be full of gimmicky features that you use once and then forget even exists.
That's most AI on phones these days! To be fair, you don't have to use it. The improved battery life is the best part really.
I bet you said the same thing when text messaging came out "that's such a gimmick, why wouldn't you just call?", then again said the same thing when the touch screen came out, "I can type faster on real buttons!"
It's just a gimmick and marketing term, in couple of years these same RUclipsrs will say the same thing
@@Thetechchapso just that, improve battery life?? Performance still behind snapdragon and mediatek top chipset. What a joke 😂.
Nah , I think he is right up to a point , a lot of the AI stuff is very much a novelty, people will no doubt play with the toys for a couple of weeks then it will get forgotten, the more useful parts will get used , and that is the way it has always been.@@divertiti
p7p user ... still rocking solid, no upgrade needed this year.
That chips set is Google's Downfall. Why can't they just stick with Qualcomm untill they actually have something that can rival and beat Qualcomm.
What’s interesting is that google is charging $1000+ for their own custom chip which you’d think be cheaper to mass produce for their phones. I don’t even want to imagine how much google would charge for say a Pixel 10 pro XL with a SD 8 Gen 4
Because then the price would be absurd.
yeah knowing its weaker they shouldnt be pricing pixels on the level of s24u and ip15max. the pro xl with512gb should 1,200 from the start not 1500usd
@@artificialstyle998 We have to start somewhere. The Tensor G5 should be a custom TSMC SoC. The first chips will be rough. They're only charging this much because everyone else is, they would know that if they charged $1,500 for a slab phone, it would not sell.
I believe it's because of their TPU?
It’s interesting that no one brings up how lurchy the Pixel 8 Pro’s scrolling was on third-party apps like Twitter or reddit. Yeah, the phone feels smooth when you’re running Google’s apps, but I think this disparity deserves to be mentioned.
I hope the P9P is smoother. 🙏
Reddit is still glitchy - rest is smooth AF - I received my 9 Pro XL today.
Love Google Pixel 9
Not heard of bugs on the OP12....
Bugs on OP12?
@@davidbrown6137 It's easy to find info about it online, there are several major bugs that had me giving up on mine. When you swap apps with the app switcher certain ones freeze for a full 2-3 seconds, notifications randomly disappear or don't show up on lock screen, etc...
@@EthanWord Wow, that's a shame. Sorry to hear.
@@davidbrown6137 yeah for sure. It's disappointing since it's been out so long and they haven't fixed the issues yet.
Thanks for your excellent review--my partner has a 60th soon--and has endured an iPhone 6 Plus for eons--despite a Pixel camera fixation--so I've just added a 9 Pro XL 0.5TB to my cart for this weekend's big 60th birthday pressie!
Excellent review 🎉..First guy to give complete review about pixel 9 Pro XL
Excellent well detailed review. Can't wait to see the comparison videos.
Thanks! 👍
This is the best review I have seen. You always touch on what is important without the gimmicks. I wish the algorithm showed me your videos more often.
i appreciate that, thank you! :)
Hey Tom great video as always. I have that same mug@12:03 lol .
Good choice!
Great review. Thank you for detailed comparison!
You’re very welcome 😊
i believe in him not in any tech company behind, his review is pure subjectif
How are the connections? Bluetooth, GPS, G4/5 modem etc?
Been good for me so far!
I think it’s not so good. In the video you always saw LTE
The embargo has finished! 🗣️🔥🔥🔥
indeed!
thank you for mentioning pwm,it is very important for some of us actually, had to sell my s23u from the headaches/migraines so ill have to skip the 9pro too it seems 😅
Nice video as always. I got intrested in what camera/phone you did your video with during the city walk.
Loved the review! Where can we get that castle wallpaper??
Thank you so so so so much for mentioning pwm i was about to buy it but thank god i didn’t. It is the pity for companies to be that ignorant
Stuck between Honor magic 6 pro o pixel 9 pro xl 🤔 What would be your pick ??? Great channel by the way 👍
Fantastic review, that actually conveys details not seen elsewhere, however, in the comparison 9 vs Pro it should be mentioned that there is no UWB in the 9, whereas the 9 Pro is offering it - for the first time in the more compact format.
Well, after a year of using my Google Pixel 8, I just learned from a video that it has a split-screen feature. I’m upgrading to the Google Pixel 9 XL, which I’ll be receiving tomorrow.
your reviews are always on topppp🔥🔥
Cheers!
The antenna at the top of the Pixel 9 Pro XL, was a HUGE giveaway for me!!
Love everything about this review. so much information and honest review. love your channel. big fan here chap!
Much appreciated!
It's really fun to see your content, it's really interesting .... I'm already waiting for you to make a video on iPhone 16 Pro😄
Best review of the new pixel for me, tackled all of the significant pros/cons of the phone, not everyone includes astrophotography and some little details on pixel lineup. Good job tech chap! 👏👏
Good Review of Pro 9, got a 8 and likely to wait next year to either upgrade in sale to 9 Pro or dig in to get 10 pro; depending upon specs and price (likely another £100 on the bill ticket), there's no rush as 8 pro is good
"Do you want a 6.3 or 6.8 inch ...... phone?" 😉
I laughed a little bit too much when I got it 2 seconds later😂😅
That's What She Said !
glad you compared to the P8pro on this one, thanks!
OMG! I was going to buy this, but it STILL has the issue where the screen dims so dark after a minute outside. It is so dark, it’s basically unusable. I need a new phone, but don’t want apple or Samsung. I want a clean android experience with great cameras.
Thanks for this, I ordered it today
Adding the red phone booth via magic editor gave some really convincing and impressive results!!
Yes the chip is still not upto par with its competitors, but I personally look at this phone as a whole. Coming from the pixel 6, I personally would enjoy the brighter faster screen, better cameras, better build and longer battery life.
Awesome video !!
Thank you very much for another lovely in depth review!
The chip is maybe now powerfull enough to be completly futureproof .. for that Performance they should charge way less money .. 899 at most..
Google wanted cheap. That's why. Samsung isn't a charity.
Couldn't agree more. See Huawei, they are going so well even without the Us tech but google is stack behind
Ugh Noone cares about this except for nerds and circlejerkers @@green_106
Finally someone undersrtands that google is actually working on a powerful tensor chipset. Not many understood that.
1:30 love this😂
3:01 Finally, someone talked about speakers
Mrwhoosetheboss also talked about speakers and haptics but he said "they are exactly the same as last year Pixel 8 pro"
Speakers and haptics are very important factors along with camera for me when it comes to buying phones
Good know they are improved on Pixel 9
Currently using 14 Pro Max, before that I was always an android user. Never used pixel before, google pixel 9 XL is so tempting. Maybe next year pixel 10 comes out, I seriously consider move back to android!
Great review Tom
Is it ok for casual gaming
Just because 240hz PWM I'm not buying, I hope 10 will be higher :(
Sorry I know I'm late, but flexing the Eras tour in this vid is crazy lol

Thank you for sharing this information.
5:20 could you please test more phones outdoor in sun? ONLY phone so far not dimming is Oneplus 12, do you know anyone else?
Nice explanation 👍🏻
the fact they spend time on AI instead of fixing the auto dimming when you're outside is dumb, stop the hype chase and properly fix the thing people need
Bro go to settings and turn it off 😂
@@fabolousjada5070agree. Let's turn of 5g since it sucks on pixel.
Let's turn off auto brightness if it sucks
Let's don't use the phone if the battery sucks 😂
nobody asked for AI I guess at this point.
Just wait.
Everything beats MediaTek. Talk about rubbish.
@@lankyboy90greed
@lankyboy90 funny thing is that samsung is matching the 7 years of OS updates on their S line up with snapdragon right?
Has Pixel 9 a desktop mode? Something like Samsung dex or Motorola's Ready for?
How was audio recording quality when taking a video at the concert? Compared to the other phones?
I think that you're the only tech reviewer who spoke about PWN dimming. Now I realise why I felt so fatigued when looking at the Pixel 9's screen.
U shifted the beer glass, thats why it got "chopped off".
Good review still. May consider getting P9Pro.
Check lover of tech video review and test of TG4 and it out performs Apple's and Samsung chip.
@TheFCBR80 Samsung uses Snapdragon, like 90% of all other Androids, and no, Tensor does not outperform either. They would be the only reviewer out there with such results making then questionable at best.
@@bodrulm1Shoot better pictures than the Samsung and still can't shoot basic portraits. Typical paid teamPixel comment.

Like the styling but as I have an 8 pro I will wait for the 10. Great video tho.
I'm on a Pixel 6, should I upgrade yet or wait another year?
If you care about performance you better wait.
It is worth upgrading tho', the $699 trade in for the 8Pro, the $200 google store credit and the $109 credit for google one users, makes it pretty much a steal
lovin your review, good coverage with pwm dimming info for your viewers who are suffering from it, other popular youtubers dont cover it at all (boohoo!)......Thank you
glad it helped!
Which the pixel is the best overall software experience than any other phone I have ever used.
