      exklim Tech News a in depth comparison with 7567 AND 7577 would be a pure hit!
      And please do a separate gaming performance as well.

  • @BobOfAllTrades

    This series since the 7577 has been such a great hit. Across nearly every SKU the bang for the buck it’s just always there. You don’t have to wait for a sale, you can just grab it go and know that you got a pretty sweet deal.
    I dig the alpine white! Now in a lot of these the fingerprint reader is actually built in to the power button. Is that the case on this?

    • @OWNORDISOWN
      @OWNORDISOWN  6 лет назад +1

      Hey bob ! Yes, its a very successful series. Good value. No finger print reader or Windows hello I'm afraid :(

    • @samtherat6
      @samtherat6 6 лет назад +1

      Only the G5 has the fingerprint sensor, as it shares the same exact chassis as the 7577.

    • @BobOfAllTrades
      @BobOfAllTrades 6 лет назад +1

      samtherat6 Good to know. I can confirm the G7 I have in my possession does not feature Windows Hello either.

    • @RecklessTurtle
      @RecklessTurtle 6 лет назад

      This info is not correct. According to the G5 user manual, there is no Finger Print reader in G5 or in G7.

    • @samtherat6
      @samtherat6 6 лет назад

      Hmm, when I read the original articles when they announced the G series, I'm seeing repeated references to a fingerprint sensor on the G5.

      Conor Tanji yeh, trackpads feels great. Much better than the Aero 15w. Speakers are good. Their software is good for that. Just loaded games on , will start testing tomorrow 😀

      Please let me know how you like it.i was thinking about this model too but no fingerprint reader is kinda hard to accept.it was just awesome and futuristic.so I'm back now trying to save for the 7577

    • @Sir_Dabsalot
      @Sir_Dabsalot 6 лет назад

      Thanks for replying! I’ll let you know what I think! Less then 24 hours till I got it. If you don’t mind me jumping from one video comment to another, you mentioned undervolting the Aero -150w. Have you undervolted the G7? What kind of results have you had good results with? Is it necessary? I’ve seen decent reviews on the G7s temps. I’m looking forward to twiddling with all the settings and seeing what I can get out of it.

    • @Sir_Dabsalot
      @Sir_Dabsalot 6 лет назад +1

      Hey guys. So I've had my G7 for almost a week now and I'm loving it. I've got the $1399 model with 4k screen and what not. Battery life isn't great as to be expected, im getting about 2.25-2.75 hours while actively using it for web surfing and Netflix. I'm no tech wizard but like to fiddle around a bit. I've undervolted it a bit and getting pretty good results. running most games on high that are online multiplayer like PUBG, but max on offline games. So far no real complaints. I know it doesn't have a fingerprint reader but to me, that seriously isn't a big deal.
      @exklim Id love to see a video on how your overclocking and undervolting went. If you could include a quick screen shot of you're settings that'd be awesome to! I'm sure I can push more out of this beast but since I'm not a big techy, I've just pushed a little.
      Also, Have you seen the video/ messed around with the difference in CPU power while the laptop is unplugged vs when its plugged in? I'm regularly seeing 4.0 while plugged in but usually half at 2.0 while its unplugged. Any way around this that you know of? I've messed with performance settings to get a bit more power out of it but not having much luck.

    Thanks for the info, subbed! Liked the comparison between the lot. Here in the UK you can get a new Inspiron 7000 gaming with 1060max-q. Guessing it's the G7 in all but title.
    Looking forward to your benchmarks

      Lachlan Bursle Thanks for the sub! Yes, pretty much the same apart from the CPU. Opened it up last night to put 9i n a hard drive. Easy to upgrade. Shared heat pipe design so I expect I will have to undervolt it but I think it has quite beefy heatsinks. Thanks for the sub !

    @exklim Tech News... G5, G7 are pretty much same as Dell 7577 in terms of chassis, there are just slightly difference in color accent and exhaust cover style. However, G3 is kind of new to Dell gaming laptops family, even though its chassis is not totally new, but should be light weighted. I personally think more and more gamers would be interested in DELL G3.
    So if you can do full review of DELL G3, it would attack more audience.

    • @OWNORDISOWN
      @OWNORDISOWN  6 лет назад +2

      Yes, a bunch of people have been asking about the G3. Thing is, Dell told me it would be 3 months to get a sample so I bought this and plan on selling it. I also bought the xps 15 2-1 , do you expect many views on that one?

    • @aquariusgalaxy5944

    Thanks for sharing the basics on the differences between the G series of Dell computers. I was wondering about them while I was shopping on the Dell web site. My old Inspiron (from 2011) is finally wearing away a bit. It still works, but the battery has finally died, as I get a warning every time I turn it on. So, I have to leave it plugged in to power it. I guess it is time for something new and this video has helped, so thanks again!

    I got a Gaming 7000 one month ago, im enjoying it very much, really silent and fast, but i had to change the screen settings to achieve something better to use. Takes a while to get used to it, but overall, its great!

    Finally a well priced laptop with great performance and an option to move away from the red and black design! I really love the white base with blue trim, its not common and seems to look proper when you bring it to work and meetings. I'm a bit worried about the flex on the screen, is this laptop durable enough? The screen looks dark, perhaps the UHD model is better. How is the keyboard? I've tried out the previous version and it felt small and shallow. Nice review and really appreciate how detailed it is!

    • @OWNORDISOWN
      @OWNORDISOWN  6 лет назад +1

      Thanks William ! The keyboard feels as if it has slightly more travel than the 7000 gaming, not much though, although I would say the space bar seems to have a bit more. It performs like a champ. The biggest weakness is its mediocre screen. Nearly done all my testing. The full review will be up probably at the weekend. Lots of details, but my summary is that it is a great value laptop and the 1060 maq Q runs as well as the standard version and the laptop runs cool.

    • @Willadin
      @Willadin 6 лет назад

      Glad to hear your findings! Will be staying tuned for your full review. I'm really interested on getting this laptop and my only concern is the monitor, but if it runs cool even on load then I'm happy. A lot of gaming laptops I see today try to cram a lot of performance in small cases but their temperatures tend to go beyond 80 degrees C.

    • @OWNORDISOWN
      @OWNORDISOWN  6 лет назад +1

      Yes, indeed and the Aero 15w is testament to that. Gaming it gets to 90+ degrees, the fan blades and heat sinks are small. The G7 is much better in this regard. sRGB is 61%, NTSC 46% if I recall and AdobeRGB abut 44%. Brightness isn't great either. Battery life 4 hrs 48 mins, which isn't great but is enough for a couple of movies. Thanks for taking the time to comment :)

    • @Willadin
      @Willadin 6 лет назад

      90 degrees on a laptop to me sounds insane and really concerning! Glad to hear the G7 fairs better, will wait for your full review. Battery life of 4 hours is okay since I expected about 3 hours. Really appreciate the technical details and the way you review laptops!

      i bought 2 dell gaming 7577 for my office 6 months ago for about 850$ each . they have better specs and the price is just better than XPS or latitude ( most XPS come with intel U processors, and their performance sucks compared to HQ lineup). The only bad thing was the black and red combination, which is pretty bad for an office, but seems like my boss didn't care much about that. My next purchase might be this one or the G3, both are priced right i just hope they are as reliable as last gen

  •  6 лет назад +1

    I'm mainly going to use this on my education, at home I can plug it into my current monitor and sit back.
    The irony is that this laptop is probably 5x as powerful as my current desktop.
    So I could potentially throw that one out and use its 1TB harddrive.

    • @OWNORDISOWN
      @OWNORDISOWN  6 лет назад +2

      It is amazing the power of this laptop. It may be a Max Q 1060 but it performs on par with a regular one and it does not throttle. The 1080p panel is not the best for sure but at this price range it is great value really. I hope to have my full review up this weekend!

  • @Leo_Vulkan

    I was looking for that laptop, but fully maxed out with the 4k panel. Although it looks cheap and lot of plastic allaround I care most about the performance and it not to hrottling under heavy work. I want it for very intensive audio editing and code programming. Would love if you can try it intensively and talk about performance and how long the battery last in a daily use. All the best!

    • @OWNORDISOWN
      @OWNORDISOWN  6 лет назад +2

      Will do Heraldo ! I intend to stress out the CPU and see if I can get it to turbo higher than the 3.9 Ghz. I will OC the GPU too and record all power usages and temps.

    • @Leo_Vulkan
      @Leo_Vulkan 6 лет назад

      The reason for the max Turbo at 3.9ghz is because is the max speed for the six cores at same time, so Dell try to force the laptop to work with all cores together, instead of reaching (just) a little bit higher frequency but with less cores. Smart move IMO in most of the situations thinking 99% of the actual software take advantage of the multicore and mutilthreading :)

    • @OWNORDISOWN

      So far the Aero 15 maxes out at 4093 Mhz on all 6 cores...

    • @OWNORDISOWN

      Thanks mate ! The Helios 300 was the faster machine and it was quite quiet too. I was impressed with the thermals and noise levels on the G7 and did prefer its look over the Helios 300. Probably the nod goes to the Helios but if the G7 is much cheaper and you get two sticks of RAM its worth snapping up. Here is my review on it ruclips.net/video/Vq9ACOFApr4/видео.html

    Nice unboxing !
    Can't wait to see its performance. and that weird 3.9 turbo boost..
    it seems like the new 8th gen cpu always run hot about 90 on both MSI and aero 15x and even on the new asus M laptop, i need a laptop that can handle heat issue because heat is what kills laptops life and performance. This laptop is a bit thicker and heavier and the bezels is another story lol. Regardless hope it has better thermal management.
    and for the new CPU how much can we undervolt and will it improve thermals and performance ?

    • @OWNORDISOWN
      @OWNORDISOWN  6 лет назад +1

      Abdulaziz Alpha The Aero 15w , in my testing so far does throttle even at about 88 deg. I'm sure an undervolt on that will help.
      I'm sure the cooling is better on the G7, will open it up and show you as well as undervolt too. I want to see if I can get it to boost to 4.1 like the Aero 15w. I'll go into the BIOS too and show any settings that are worthwhile. .

    Hi, Thanks for the review!
    Questions:
    1. What is the exact brand and model of the included 256GB SSD?
    2. Is the keyboard the same unpleasant one (very low key travel, no proper tactile feedback) as the one in the 7577?
    3. What is the exact FHD screen brand and model (Aida64 or similar software can tell it) ?
    Thanks

      he SSD is a Micron 1100 SATA 3. Monitor ID is LGD053F, LG Philips LP156WF6 (Dell 4XK13). 60hz
      Keyboard does feel as it has slightly better travel, not a huge difference though. Space bar is more noticeable.

    I've been scouring the web for extensive review of the G series, it's yet to launch in my country and I look forward to this. I was going to buy a 7567 but held off on it for the 8th gen processors this series offers. Could you please do a G5 vs G7 comparison? They both offer similar specs except for the i9 in the G7 so I'm genuinely confused.

      Hi mate, thanks for watching my video. Yeh, they are confusing. Apart from that i9 they are basically the same. The styling of the G5 is the same as the 7000 gaming of last year which I show in this video. I tried to show it in my Pax East video - did you watch that?

    hey very nice review, im looking for some help, i cant decide on getting the 7577 gtx 1060 max q, some reviews say it´s great, but i´ve seen people complaining about ports and screen, what do you think? also i saw a version that says Dell i7577, what´s the difference between this and normal 7577? thank you.

    • @OWNORDISOWN
      @OWNORDISOWN  6 лет назад +2

      Juan RD from what I can see the i7577 and 7577 are exactly the same. It does get very confusing because when I bought mine when they first came out there was no thunderbolt port, no IPS screen and only a 1050ti max. In the 7577 that has all changed.
      The difference between. The G5 is mainly the inclusion of the six core i7 8750h CPU which will give you about 40 to 50% improvement on multithreaded tasks.

    Hey man, first of all thanks for the video. I have been waiting for RUclipsrs to make some reviews on these laptops. I just have some tips for you to make your channel better.
    First, for being an unboxing, the video was honestly too long. I would say try to make these kinds of videos shorter and instead of them being "unboxing" videos make them "first impressions" videos as many other big RUclipsrs out there do. It would be great if you just got to the point and showed the contents that came out the box, unless the unboxing is something very very special and has a great presentation. 5 minutes for a first impression video is on the sweet spot. Remember here, the shorter the video the more likely people are to click on it.
    Another thing, it'd be great if you had more time focusing on the laptop than you speaking, don't get this wrong, it's great if you show your face at the beginning of the video and at the end. Try to change the views and angles of the product as you talk about it. I would have wanted to see the laptop up close a few more times from different angles.
    Talking about angles, looking at the laptop from the top with the laptop upside down at 2:14 was just a little bit off, it would have been great to see the laptop the way you would look at it when you are using it normally, form the top front view
    Adding some animations to your videos would be great, if you were to add animations when you talk about ports that would make your videos even better. What I am saying is instead if showing your arms covering half of the screen, get a good shot of the laptop and when you say "mini display port" show some kind of animation that you like on that specific port pop up. This always add an edge to the video and shows the viewer that you are putting effort into your videos
    Anyways, I know this is not a full review and as stated 12 minutes for a simple unboxing is too long, save some of that energy for the main review, but these tips apply to any kind of video. I hope your channel keep growing. Good luck!

    • @OWNORDISOWN
      @OWNORDISOWN  6 лет назад +1

      Juan Perez Thanks for the tips. I did contemplate calling it first impressions. Unboxtherapy shows unboxing and he is a big channel.
      I take your point about showing stuff come out if the box. Perhaps just start with what's in it.
      In my full review I will show more of the laptop from different angles etc. Remember, this isnt the review, its main purpose is to show my viewers that a review will be coming up on it but I want to show more details than just "hey, this is what is in the box". It's an ideal time to show it against competing laptops and in this case its predecessor
      Thanks for watching and taking the time to post a comment 😀

      Yeah, I agree with most points. I missed the close up shots, I know these things are available on the official website, but when you are listing I/O ports it helps to have some visual points of reference. I quite like how MKBHD does it, it neednt be a video, could be a high res image being panned as well.

    I know you have the 1080p version, but any idea on what the screen quality is like for the 4k option? I'm curious about the color reproduction on it for media work.
    And also, what are the speeds like for the hard drive? I heard it supports NVMe PCIe but the included drive is actually SATA...

    • @OWNORDISOWN

      I got 516 MB/s Read and 228 MB/s Write. It is a PCIe slot so you can swap it out with a faster SSD if you wish. I will show all the innards this weekend in my review :) I'm afraid I don't know what the 4k is like, it must be better than the 1080p as the colour accuracy and brightness are sub standard...

      Yes, I truly think it is very good. It runs cool out the box. No fan control but its not needed. Performance is top notch. On the most part matches the Aero 15w that I am testing at the same time with a regular 1060 and its cooler to boot. I have OC the CPU to get 1264 on Cinebench R15 and reduce my handbrake encode from 32 mins to 28 mins. Speakers are good. Easy to get into. I put a hard drive in, took 5 mins. Full review coming !

It cost a bit more but will last me for years. So far so good on performance. Its certainly an eye catcher too. I did order a Cooling pad (CMU3) to go with it now and it helps with temperatures. The G5 is the same as the 7567 , the G3 I thought looked a bit cheaper than both the G5 and G7 and by all accounts runs about 10 deg warmer, but its still a solid machine. I think they share the same panels. The design isn't that much different though. I like the Alpine white and its blue accents, even on the heat sinks.

    Returned a new Alienware 17R4 & bought the top configuration G3 17 and it's performing wonderfully with the near identical config as this review. The G Series has the smart balance of solid performance, reasonable cost, and real power - BUT believe me when I tell you that the low contrast BLUE ONLY KEYBOARD PRETTY MUCH SUCKS.
    Never mind that the actual size of the keys are smaller than all the rest of the Inspiron line; I'm getting mega headache inducing eyestrain trying to see the near zero contrast dull blue on black keys & the non-adjustable blue back-light works as little more than a decoration.
    This unfortunate lighting choice is a really significant design Faux Pas that ruins the almost perfect balance of this machine.
    Went to great lengths to find a replacement keyboard, but after hours of effort with Dell CS was told that within the entire Dell universe there isn't a single replacement keyboard component with normal WHITE letters/back-lighting for this machine.

    The new Dell G3's G5's and G7's options were really well thought out. There are compromises everywhere and they really catered for a variety of needs with different pairing of processors, ram options, gpu's and storage. I was really trying hard to analyse and find a loophole in their options but my god, while there are good value options available, there are no clear winning options. Dell pricing has won over my brain and respect

    • @OWNORDISOWN
      @OWNORDISOWN  6 лет назад +1

      Yes, they do provide quite a spread of machines at various cost levels. What I like in this line in particular is the ease of getting in and doing upgrades. One screw. Nice and easy. Would have liked two m.2 slots but guess they have to cut costs somewhere. 6 cores at this price range is very good.

    • @jonathanbalkaran1128
      @jonathanbalkaran1128 6 лет назад

      Yes at the cost they're very attractive. As a student, I think they really targeted students with this line up and they did great. Making the 1060 max-q relatively affordable (as I thought I might have never been able to afford it on other laptops before) and providing the 1050 Ti as solid very respectable budget options. Hats off Dell!

      I would go for one with the six core i7 8750h CPU. The GTX 1060 helps a lot in the likes of Adobe Premiere Pro , I imagine the 1050ti will be similar. Here is my full review: ruclips.net/video/Vq9ACOFApr4/видео.html

    Hey Steve, i think you've made enough laptop videos to reach out to those interested and reviewing fancy gadgets might be more attracting at this point. Laptops are expensive to buy too. Just my thought 💭.

      I find that no one wants to watch any of my other videos...If you go through my videos you will see the viewing figures. Even my 38" gaming monitor only has about 300 views - not worth the time and money... Don't get me wrong I will still mix things up. I have the DJI Osimo mobile cell phone selfie device to review.

      OWNorDisown No worries, thanks for your help! If you were looking at buying the 7577 would you wait for the G5? It's mostly the newer CPU that attracted me to the G5 over the 7700HQ in the 7577

    • @OWNORDISOWN
      @OWNORDISOWN  6 лет назад +1

      Unless you can save say a 100 pound or more and your use is primarily gaming I would stick with the new CPU, it helps in other tasks you might do as well as multi task, like recording a game whilst playing and doing something else in the back ground. It makes it more futureproof.

      Lets take Rise of the Tomb Raider as an example. A GTX 1050 gives 32 FPS at 1080p, max settings, whilst a GTX 1060 around 69 fps.

    Really wish they offered that color scheme for my 7577 I just bought a few weeks ago hate Red but got a great deal picked mine up for $849 from Dell which list for $1,099 but mine has the i5 7300 8bg ram 128ssd boot 1tb hdd and 1060maxQ! Before i come across that one they also had one almost exactly the same only difference was it had a 256ssd where mine has the 128ssd boot and 1tb hdd it was like $949 on sale it list for $1,049 so it was just a touch cheaper list price to list price then mine!

    From G5 and G7 service manuals, I think G7 has better heat exhaust port, or fin, what ever they called. The photo of page 60(G7 manual) and Page 62(G5 manual) are slightly different. Can you check your G7 heat exhaust port(fin) size or shape are same as Dell's G7 manual?
    If it does, I can happily make choice to go G7!!

    • @OWNORDISOWN
      @OWNORDISOWN  6 лет назад

      Its hard to make out details on that manual. I have shot footage of its internals and also used a thermal camera to show the heat exhaust - it shows the heat being pushed far away from the CPU side. It's temps are very good, no throttling even when I overclock the CPU and GPU. I am hoping to get the review up this weekend, so stay tuned !

      So according to light meter: Aero 15w v8 at 50% brightness is 197 lux, and the Dell G7 at 100% brightness 177 lux... so yes, less than 50% as bright.
