Tampa, Florida - On April 14, 2024, just before 10 a.m., HCSO deputies were patrolling the Beacon Meadows Park area. During that time, they encountered a suspect, identified as 32-year-old Anthony Carpenter that had been trespassed from the park the day before. Deputies asked him to leave, and for more than 20 minutes, deputies tried to de-escalate the situation, but Carpenter refused to comply with the commands, putting his hand in and out of his coat's pockets. Deputies asked Carpenter several times if he was armed, but Carpenter said he was not. Deputies deployed their tasers, and while Carpenter was on the ground, he shot 3 times, hitting one deputy. The deputy is not critically injured an was transported to the hospital. When Carpenter was arrested, deputies found a firearm and a knife in his coat.
Anthony Carpenter is facing the following charges:
- Attempted First-Degree Murder of a Law Enforcement Officer with a Firearm (x3)
- Resisting an Officer with Violence
- Armed Trespass

All 3 officers clearly thought another officer fired which is why none of them fired at the suspect and the officer that was hit was confused. This guy got extremely lucky, if those officers knew it was the suspect that fired he would have been turned in to swiss cheese.

Just goes to show that officers don’t always have to magdump the suspect to get the situation under control
I really honestly thought the officers had fired a shot too upon first viewing of this video. This is a great video that demonstrates just how confusing these scenes can be and why expecting officers to always have perfect judgement is just impossible and unrealistic.
Excellent analysis.
@@stcknoobs5516 The only reason that guy didn't get peppered with lead is because of the fact that the taser took advantage of his poor trigger discipline and made him fire those shots. Public parks often close to said public at night. Dude likely tried sleeping there the previous night and was found and trespassed. @@MoustacheCloud He was most probably holding his gun in his pocket and when he was tased the 2nd time, his hands tensed up , squeezing the trigger. So i don't know if he can be charged with shooting the cop when it was the taser that probably "triggered" it.
@@dir32jd Interesting theory and definitely possible, but I doubt that explanation would get him off in court.
Most importantly was the dog ok?
That's freedom in America, trespassed from a park.
This was just a weird encounter. Very bizarre.
🤔
Those cops were weird.
@@RighteousRhythm what makes you say that?
@@TeaLeaf91 because the video is incomplete.
They out there harassing him, gonna take only thing he had, his dog. That other cop shot his parnter & they covering it up
@@mnewhouse84 You're full of shit, like every cop hater on the planet.
For sitting in a park GTF outta here, Have you all had enough yet?
Where's my violin?
How were the other officers unfased after hearing 3 shots, their partner running away saying they're hit, and dude's hands are still in his pockets?
They are idiots, as most police are.
because we already know far more information than they do - the suspect is armed. They assumed one of the other 3 officers fired negligently.
@@SputniksArmy They have the same info as the viewer. They should assume he is armed given his behaviour. Aggressively noncompliant & refuses to remove his hands from his pockets. Taser, 3 shots, an officer saying he is hit. When the video ends, the guy is as much a threat as he ever was! Even if it took 5 seconds for them to piece it all together, he was still laying my there with the gun in his hand, concealed in his jacket.
@@BelowTheHardDeckDoesNotCount
You’re oversimplifying the situation… Good cops process way more real time information in split second decisions then your giving credit… It’s not always about shoot first ask questions later mentality..
The guy was actively being electrocuted when the shots rang out making it impossible to control his extremities… This would make for an extremely interesting court cases with a good lawyer and experts brought in to testify…
@@RUclips_deletes_my_commentsYes, you said it. While he was being electrocuted, his hand was holding a gun, finger evidently on the trigger, and bore aimed at someone. He refused countless commands to keep his hands out of his pocket. The video isn't really long enough to see what happens once they realize he was shooting the gun concealed in his coat.
“Gimme a second” bro got shot and acts like a it’s just a regular Monday lol
"I'm paid and entitled to do whatever I deem necessary, but you pay my wages and I refuse you freedom, because I'm an officer of hypocrisy."
The officer asking "What happened". Bro, did you not just hear the gunshots?! 😂
This happened at a spot i pass right on my drive home from work. What a crazy turn of events, man gripping his gun inside his pocket gets tased and squeezes 3 rounds off, now facing some serious time and nearly killed a deputy
like in France..countries of freedom they said...
Why cut the video short there?
Because it's now over? Guy is gonna get cuffed and hauled away ("I'm not goin' to jail!" was not a truth, seems) and his dog gets taken by the handler. Sure, we could wait around and watch the arrest and hauling and other things such as the guy getting medical treatment, but why?
@@mikeybhoutex Because the cops will plant evidence because they're blatantly in the wrong. The man had every right to be there and protected himself from an oppressive government.
@@mikeybhoutex Yeah but we want the realisation that the officers find the gun in his coat. Or how they dealt with that situation since the suspect still had his hand on the gun. Seems like a tricky situation especially since the cops didn't know the suspect fired a shot. As soon as the officer lets go of that shock, the suspect could just open fire, its interesting to see how it played out.
@@lickspit1 Didn't look like he fired or was in any position to fire at all. I don't think he even had a gun and that's why the video ended there. "Friendly fire" hit that cop and they're too embarrassed to admit it.
@@ohreally8929bogus charges probably. I slowed the video down and it looks like the tree was hit. Petty sure the adjacent cop shot him

“something hit me”. must’ve been those acorns again
💀
ahahahah
The 'I do not feel safe' was a clue. He was trying to set up his 'self-defense' claim for using his gun.
You really think he's that smart? All the criminals now say they "don't feel safe" when the police show up.
The 'you'll have to kill me' was another clue.
Well right or wrong when you have 3 guys pointing guns at you then it's safe to make said claim.
you've clearly never been surrounded by a gang before or had live ammunition pointed at you
That poor dog that was in obvious distress while the person he was trained to take care of lied there.. he/she is the one I felt the worst for in this
Ummm crossfire is why sir like who didn't see that coming. Yall we're surrounding the suspect. Instead of stacking on the suspect SMH
The officer sounds more annoyed than scared that he got hit.
Poor doggo got traumatized. :-(
Each officer thought the other fired, non fired. The man shot first. They are still confused
I did not see the suspect with a gun. He was paralyzed by the taser and fell straight back. I'm thinking the officer that said "how did I get hit" was hit by a ricochet bullet. Not one of the 3 officers screamed "he's got a gun".
I initially thought the officer had been hit by crossfire the way they were moving round the suspect.
He did. That guy didn't even have a gun.
No screaming woman? I'm sure the comments will make up for it with cries of "he was minding his own business!"
you can tell he wasn't badly injured because he made that comment
Attempted first degree murder? More like self defense. That was just ridiculous!
What had this guy done for the cops to be there in the first place.
Trespassing. Did you not read description?
@@DoylesDigs To be trespassed from a public park, you must have committed a crime. Cops don't just get to trespass from a public place for no reason.
@@costaricanaturephotography3027 So you didn't read the description either? He did commit a crime in the park the day before this... that's why the cops are there...
@@DoylesDigs what crime? it doesnt say that... real smart of ya! it doesn't even say crime. it says trespassing. you make shit up like the cops
@suzannen.6403 Read the description you incompetent human.
I hope the officer makes a speedy recovery, but I REALLY want to know how the pupper is doing.
Pupper?
It turns out hands kept in a pocket can be very dangerous.
For anyone wondering, report says the suspect discharged a revolver from inside his coat pocket 3 times, first shot striking the officer’s shoulder mic, which ultimately saved his life. He was charged with, resisting an officer with violence, armed trespass and three counts of attempted first-degree murder of a law enforcement officer with a firearm.
Looks like he was defending himself
Trespassing on public property???
You can’t live in the park and by the way that gun would’ve been used on your wife a kid.
@@ov7461 No different than squatting .
@nickcirillo6191 Jesus. If you're so afraid of everyone with a gun, then don't go out into the world. Also, all of that is assumption. He can stay in the park if the park is open.
Neither cop realized that the guy was squeezing off rounds.
The guy who was shot wasn't even sure what hit him.
I think they each thought the other was deploying their taser and that was the origin of the noise.
