Even though I like a lot of the heavy stuff and riffs are a huge part of what I like, most of the times I get this "chill factor", it's not so much from riffs or heavy stuff in particular... I get this mostly from lead guitar, melodic lines or segments that have clean, arpeggiated chord progressions... Rush is a good example of all of this. I Stay Away and Black Hole Sun give me chills, could also be because they're childhood staples. Pantera is the heaviest band that does this, which really justifies why they're one of my favorite bands. Led Zeppelin definitely makes the cut. Also, EVH and Reb Beach (who I think is criminally underrated)...
far beyond driven is waaaay heavier than vulgar display, and personally I think strength beyond strength or slaughtered may be some of the heaviest songs of all time. But IMO Gojira, specifically From Mars To Sirius has some of the grooviest nastiest riffs ever.
The-Art-of-Guitar yeah you’re right, I feel like fbd has some heavier songs but overall vulgar displays energy as a whole is more aggressive. But when I think of heavy I also primarily think of groove, so like I mentioned before gojira really hits me hard, like when the main riff kicks in for flying whales. Goosebumps man.
can you share the recording gear that you use? Would really appreciate it. From camera to mic(s), DAW and the other stuff. I’m new to all this. I’m finally looking forward to do covers on guitar with proper gear

My biggest chill was when I heard the To Live Is To Die to its fullest. I had a cassette with some random Metallica songs and due the tape length To Live Is To Die ended with a fade out on the acoustic interlude, listened to it a thousand times and thought that it was the end of the song. A couple of years later I've got the full album and imagine my shock when I heard that it was not actually fading out and then James said "When a man lies he murders some part of the world", there was some huge goosebumps!

Also, EVH and Reb Beach (who I think is criminally underrated)...
Where do you get your guitar tones???
The live version of Comfortably Numb from Pink Floyd's 'Pulse' video gives me waves of chills! The ending solo is just jaw dropping!
far beyond driven is waaaay heavier than vulgar display, and personally I think strength beyond strength or slaughtered may be some of the heaviest songs of all time. But IMO Gojira, specifically From Mars To Sirius has some of the grooviest nastiest riffs ever.
True but the way FBD is mixed it just doesn't hit as hard. I may or may not have more Pantera in Part 2. ;)
I could do a vid on that soon, sure.
The-Art-of-Guitar Awesome! Thanks man.

For me it’s Speak-Queensrÿche, Loneliness Of The Long Distance Runner-Iron Maiden, The Sentinel-Judas Priest and Bible Black-Heaven And Hell
