#LOST SOUNDTRACK ANALYSIS (Michael Giacchino's score)
"It's like a date we never had."
In an episode filled with great callbacks, Michael Giacchino explores distant memories of familiar themes and finds that the mysteries of the island are no longer of concern to the crash survivors. Go watch it!
    🧨👻🏖️
So many years after the show's ending, Michael Giacchino's amazing soundtrack for LOST still has many, many secrets to uncover. Not only does every main character have their own theme music, but much like the interconnected writing of the show itself, Giacchino's score connects locations, scenes, emotions and conflicts in unbelievably brilliant ways. For the foreseeable future, I will be exploring Michael Giacchino's soundtrack from ABC's LOST in a weekly video, covering all episodes of the show and their musical connections to each other.

Hi, guys! Just a little update: as you may have noticed, these videos have been coming out a bit less frequently lately. No fear - I have not lost interest... just a lot of my free time after the birth of my beautiful baby boy! 🙂 There's still a lot of cool stuff to explore in the weeks ahead, and I'm excited to share it with you all. To quote a (somewhat) wise man: we're very close to The End!

I love the Hurley X Theme, because it kind of sounds like a backwards version of a musical motif from Lost. Possibly Hurley's 1st theme. Like the bizarro version of it.
Engame motif "We're in the endgame now", nice!
Love that you managed to connect that melody to the end of "Everybody Hates Hugo". Great connection that is easy to miss, even though after you mention it, I can easily distinguish it now. I think "Everybody Loves Hugo" does a lovely job connecting musically to "Dave" and "Everybody Hates Hugo".

Oh wow I never knew "A Memorable Kiss" had different music from the episode. And I'm not sure I ever would have recognized Hurley's 3rd Theme in the restaurant scene so thanks for pointing that out. It's a pretty cool call back. Interestingly, while I usually prefer the music included in the soundtrack over the actual episode, in this case I think using Hurley's 3rd Theme in that moment is better cause A. it's a "real world" theme and B. it's like the score is completing the incomplete melody from the restaurant scene.
Is it just me, or does Hurley's X Theme sound like it belongs in a Pixar movie? Maybe Inside Out (which I know Giacchino scored) or Wall-E.

It totally does sound like a Pixar theme! I have that feeling with Michael's theme a bit as well. I like that the episode itself has a better score from a story perspective, but that the official soundtrack offers an alternate take that's more pleasant to listen to (because the track used in the episode is basically a repeat of "Mess It All Up", which was already released, while Hurley's sideways theme does not have that many versions). That's why I decided to show both in this video!

I am here for the ending .. A different variation of the Oceanic 6 theme... is that in another video?

Hi! It's shown briefly in one of my videos on the season 4 finale, but also at the start of this video on the next episode ("The Last Recruit"):
