    - What are we looking at here?
It's the perfect collection of unreleased LOST score! This video only provides short samples and descriptions of each track. A link to the full unofficial soundtrack can be found in the video description.
    - Why?
Michael Giacchino composed around 10 to 30 minutes of score for all 121 episodes of LOST. We've had official soundtracks for all six seasons of the show (and more!), and all of it is obviously fantastic, but... it doesn't scratch the surface of what Giacchino has achieved. Even among the unreleased score, there's a lot of music still worth sharing with the world.
    - What makes this the perfect tracklist?
When compiling this list, I took into account several important factors:
    1. Every track has to add something that's (mostly) unlike anything else that's already been released on the official soundtracks.
    2. These tracks must contain as little 'filler' (single harp notes, silence, run-of-the-mill suspense, or even specific variations of themes that have already been released) as possible.
    3. If a major recurring theme or motif from the show has not been included on any of the official soundtracks, it must be listed on here. This is particularly true for 'disc 2'.
    4. The full tracklist must have a (relatively) perfect balance of mystery, emotion, suspense and action - it must represent the entirety of the LOST score, functioning separately from the soundtracks already released.
    - What's with the background noise?
While I’ve done what I can to get rid of all dialogue and sound effects, this has not always proven fully successful. Part of that might be a lack of skill, but more importantly, it's simply not always possible to remove all dialogue and sound effects from a TV show with the current technology (which does improve rapidly). Additionally, as it turns out, the sound mixing of the show itself becomes less... ‘complicated’ over time, making it more difficult to separate the show's soundtrack from other sounds. Unfortunately for me, LOST does tend to feature a loud alarm every now and then. My focus has been to highlight the tracks that best represent the show's themes and storylines. I selected tracks based on the music itself and made a decision to stick with these choices, rather than replace more complex challenges with tracks that are perhaps less intriguing, but easier on the ears. As a treat, though, there is a separate link for those tracks as well!
    - Still, it's sad that this wonderful music is not more clear...
Couldn't agree more. In that sense, this tracklist is not just a tracklist - it's also a wishlist. How great would it be if we could get one more LOST soundtrack before the show hits its 20th birthday? Any help in spreading the word would be greatly appreciated - by many fans, I'm sure! There's still a year to go!
    - So you mentioned in your wall of text that you would regularly update the OneDrive link?
Yup! While I can't fix it all, there is room for improvement here and there. Seasons 5 and 6 in particular will be receiving an upgrade relatively soon. But don't worry - once I've updated the link, I will provide a RUclips update so you'll be... up to date.
    - Why is [insert specific track here] not included? It's so good!
If it's not listed below, I don't know! If anything is missing, let me know - I'd be happy to work on more music to add to the ‘Rejected’ folder.
    - It's quite the list. Any rejected tracks in particular that broke your heart?
    Oh, yes. I could fill a third album with music that would still be worthwhile. Again, there's a separate folder for these tracks (and more!). Favorites include;
-> “The Kate Escape” (1x03) - Iconic percussion and string glissandi play when Kate almost manages to escape from the Marshal.
-> “Life and Cave” (1x05) - The introduction of the “Life and Death” theme played on synthesizer (playing when Jack finds the caves) is so good. Heartbreaking as it is, I decided that we have plenty of “Life and Death” on the officially released soundtracks already.
-> “Let My Guns Be Bygones” (1x15) - As the A-team prepares to trap Ethan, this wonderful and unique percussion track plays.
-> “Tough Pills To Swallow” (2x08) - This track features a theme that only appears once on the show, followed by a seriously wonderful, moody variation on Ana Lucia's theme... But this track is a bit long, and had to make way for other, slightly more interesting ones.
-> “Jack's Files” (3x01) - This five-minute version of Jack's theme from the end of the season 3 premiere is just perfect. But it's long, and I decided to go with a variation that is more unique instead.
-> “Flashes and Splashes” (3x08) - This amazing action track plays when Desmond storms off to save Claire (or, technically, Charlie).
-> “Vincent, Van, Go!” (3x10) - I truly love the simple piano and strings theme that plays when Hurley says goodbye to his father. This track also includes the fun and dramatic trombone score that follows, when the Dharma van is pushed off the cliff.
-> The entirety of the score from “The Man From Tallahassee” - Seriously, it's all so good. But this unofficial album already features quite a bit of consecutive Locke-related goodness from season 3.
-> “Cabin Fever” (4x11) - This five-minute track includes a terrific version of the ‘rescue’ theme, followed by loads of Cabin-y goodness. However, the themes included in this track are well-represented in other Locke-related tracks on this album.
-> “Donkey Wheel Of Time” (5x01) - There's loads going on in this track from the opening scene of season 5. A lot of it is covered in “Hopes and Creams” and “Richard of the Lost Architecture”, which ended up replacing it. Still, I remain sad about losing Pierre Chang's motif.
-> “Dan's The Man” (5x05) - After Locke finds the well, Charlotte tells Daniel about a man that scared her as a child... The theme that plays is another version of what eventually became “Ben Plans and the Island Laughs” on the album. This is followed by quite the haunting version of the show's ‘mystery theme’.
-> “Eternal Life And Death” (5x08) - Another wonderful (string) version of “Life and Death” plays when Amy says goodbye to her husband. This track was left out for the same reasons as “Life and Cave”.
-> “Dogen Takes A Swing” (6x06) - When Dogen fights Sayid, an excellent little action track plays.
-> “Love At First Sideways” (6x11) - A lovely, one-off theme plays when Charlie tells Desmond about the blonde woman he saw on the plane.
-> “Man Of Science, Leap Of Faith” (6x13) - This plays when Jack is forced to leave the Elizabeth by Sawyer. Ending the album with a big version of the main theme seemed appropriate. In the end, I decided to go with an even bigger version from the season 4 finale instead.
-> “C4 Yourselves” (6x14) - More than half of the score from “The Candidate” has already been released, but this track continues to haunt my dreams. It features Locke's ‘journey’ motif, battling Jack's main motif as the remaining survivors discuss what to do about the bomb on the submarine.

I wanted to save this video a little bit and cast it to a home theater system for a better experience. And it was nice to have the pictures and track information. This feels like a real CD release.
    I love the following tracks
    - I've Fallen And I Can Get Up
    - Sun Set For Life (this really evokes memories of so much Asian cinema. It's a shame it's used so sparringly in the show)
    - A Devil's Barge-In, Ankle-Deep In “Oh Crap” (there is a string melody here that is really reminiscent of something. I'll come back to you later if I figure it out. I think I've heard it in a video game)
    - Outnumbered Frenchwoman To One
    - Officer of the Loss (the one that is similar to the Lost Via Domus track :P)
    - Sins of the Father
    - Truth and Charlies,
    - Two Sawyer's Enter (really dark and harrowing with Sawyer's theme here)
    - Thank God It's Faraday (I really feel like doing research while I hear it)
    - The Temple Master's Curveball
    - Razzle Dazzle! (obviously!)
    ----
    - Swept under the Stars (really gets that survivors/Lord of the Flies/Cast away feel)
    - Thus Ends the Pilot (really frightening, obviously harkening back to its temp score which was scary)
    - Hopes and Creams (I think this is the only track title you've made that I don't like :P other than that, epic track)
    - From the Town of Black Rock
    - Under Locke and Keyboard
    - Tattoo Wrongs Don't Make A Right (Absolutely gorgeous)
    - Patch of Forbidden Land (one of the biggest misses from the official soundtrack, and that was one that had 2 discs too!)
    - About the Other Day (I haven't thought much about it, or listened on it much in your folder, but you're right. This one is quite good)
    - Freighters Gonna Freight
    - Deep Blue Secrets (love this one!)
    - 324 B.O.D.Y.S. (really haunting)
    - The Orchid
    - Heelturn... TO THE FACE! (because it sounds like a noir film)

Thanks so much! Your continued support and feedback has meant a lot while I worked on this project. 😄 Glad to hear I picked a lot of the 'right' tracks from all of the ones I edited and shared from each episode. 😉
For what it's worth, since it's two tracks combined, I decided post-release that the first half of "Hopes and Creams" should simply be titled "Exodus".

Wow, this is amazing - quick question - #20, Oceanic Break Up (CD2) - near the end, those high strings... do you think that sounds like the beginning of Juliet's Theme?

    • @FringeMusic107
      @FringeMusic107  8 месяцев назад +1

Ooh, I can hear the resemblance! In the full track, those high strings do play a second chord that doesn't seem to be connected to Juliet's theme, though. After that, Locke's theme plays. ☺️

Thanks for letting me know! :) It's not a huge deal, but it was not the intention either. 😛
My goal was to create two tracklists that were both roughly the length of the original LOST soundtracks that were released. The "rejected" folder has additional tracks that I considered including, but ultimately didn't. Since I'd worked on those already, I figured they were worth sharing anyway. Essentially, it's a list of "honorable mentions", because I just couldn't help myself. I plan to update that folder with more tracks from time to time. I've provided a bit more context in one of my lengthy comments underneath this video!

Hey I saw you were a big fan of lost and so am I, do you know any other shows like it or just which other shows do you watch in general since I’m looking for some good shows!

    • @FringeMusic107
      @FringeMusic107  6 месяцев назад

Hi! Some of my favorite shows include Breaking Bad, Fringe, Game Of Thrones (up to a point), The Leftovers, Dexter (also up to a point), Hannibal, Succession and Better Call Saul. If you're looking for LOST replacements, the closest things you will find are probably some of the shows created by the same showrunners/writers. Fringe has similarly loveable characters and explores some of the same themes (science vs. faith, destiny, redemption, etc.). It does have a 'case-of-the-week' type format (especially in its first two seasons), and takes a good while to get to the point. But once it does, it delivers some of the best television out there. It also has a terrific score, hence the channel name. 😜 Person Of Interest follows a similar trajectory (a rough first season, followed by lots of serialized sci-fi greatness) and is almost just as great. Plus, it stars Michael Emerson in a role that actually rivals Benjamin Linus!
Damon Lindelof's post-LOST shows are all great, IMO. The Leftovers in particular is an amazing show, especially in its second and third seasons. It's a lot more psychologically dramatic than LOST, but it's also very (darkly) funny. I also loved Watchmen and Mrs. Davis, which are both pretty wild shows, but very tightly written.
Once Upon A Time is a show I enjoyed, but not one I would necessarily call one of my favorites. It's created by the writers of "Exposé", and it has the same quirky but (mostly) clever style to it. Its relation to LOST is pretty evident; it has a very similar format (I'd compare its storytelling to the flashsideways from LOST's final season) and a lot of familiar actors.

Hi! I didn't include that one; the soundtrack that plays is (for some reason?) a variation on Charlie's theme. It's very close to 'track 3' ("Kicking the Hobbit"), which I preferred to that one. However, I could make an attempt to add it to the 'Rejected' folder! I'll keep you updated!
