The ending was brilliant for those who got it and for those who are interested in such deep philosophical stuff like that. But you're right - it IS the best TV series ever.
These music montages that LOST did - particularly in the first couple of seasons - at the end of the episodes get my every time. I literally get goose bumps form them.
Who here remembers the season 1 episodes that ended with music from Hurley's portable CD player? Those were all fun days, right up until the batteries ran out and Hurley marked the moment with an uncharacteristic "Son of a bitch..." and complete silence.
My GOD….the actor who plays Bernard… TOP NOTCH in this scene… The look of desperation and hope as he walks through people PRAYING he sees his wife literally just tears my souls from my body
I remember getting chills when they looked at each other cause they had not met each other yet and both were leaders of their own groups on the island.
Yes but the Others pushed Ana Lucia over the edge giving her PTSD and the Whispers didn't help. I don't blame her for Shannon's death it was the others sending Goodwin and Ethan to spy on the 815 Survivors and dragging kids into the jungle in the middle of the night. It also didn't help that Ana pregnant at the time was shot by Jason resulting a miscarriage. Ana is sane and capable of great remorse for the death of Shannon but she is also shattered into a billion pieces. Ana also helped Hugo in S5.E2: The Lie "Oh yeah, Libby says hi."
I had never seen Lost before and ever since he was shown in the pilot episode, I had to google to see whether he survived or not because I cannot handle worrying about the dog dying at some point lol.
holy shit that music is magical. That or I have a very, very strong psychological response to that. I haven't re-watched LOST in about 2 years but the first note of this made me tear up like crazy. And I wasn't even anywhere near a crying mood. Michael Giacchino is a fucking genius.
I still stand by my opinion that Lost is one of the greatest shows ever. Yeah the holes in the story kept piling up as we got closer to the end, and a giant plug in a hole in the ground perhaps wasn't the best design choice, and yes, a lot of characters were killed off too early because of real life problems, but in the end, I don't remember even a single TV show that gave me so many emotional moments because it made you so attached to these characters. The mysteries kept you intrigued, but the true heart of this show are the personal journeys of these characters, and their interactions with each other. That's why I actually liked the purgatory ending. Who gives a shit about the mysteries of the island by this point? At the end they all eventually die, but through life on the island they forged an unbreakable bond that brought them together in the afterlife to find each other, remember each other, be happy together without worries, and finally move on together. ...well apart from Michael who's forever trapped on the Island. Because fuck Michael.
Agreed on this. Whatever one may think about the turns the show took in the last two seasons, you cannot ever deny the fact that Lost was appointment television. For me, when it was on that day -- Wednesdays as I recall -- it was the first thing I thought of when I woke up in the morning and the last thing I thought of when I went to sleep. You didn't want to come to school or work the next day if you had missed it the night before. The show had a life beyond the hour per week that it was on TV; which is something that those who are just discovering the show since are missing out on. It's easy to just binge the hell out of the show, but what the new viewer misses out on is the theorizing week to week, connecting dots, looking for clues, speculating during the almost-endless wait between seasons. Never before or since was I into a show as much as this one. And I miss the hell out of it.
Michael is easy to hate but anyone would have done the same in his situation. His ten year old son is what mattered the most to him and he would do anything to keep him safe, even if some of those things were traitorous and horrible. He owed no allegiance to the survivors. Just his son that was taken away from him once already before the island. You cant fault a man for that.
Remember what it felt like to see this scene? We were so emotionally vested in the show, and so much joy burst out in this moment. Rose and Bernard, a lesson in devotion.
"Lost" reached a glorious emotional peak with this one episode. One of the loveliest hours- a fine combination of direction, editing, and music- all done *without* dialogue, just gut. And so many wonderful reunions, including not one, but *two* couples: Jin and Sun (previously shown on the outs) and my personal favorite, Rose and Bernard (up until now we'd only heard from Rose- fleetingly- that her husband was still alive, but had no proof until the end of the previous episode). Famously, the two actors prepared for their roles without meeting each other in real life until this moment- so they probably did not know until the cameras rolled that they'd be an interracial couple. How beautiful for this surprise on the viewers to reveal two of the viewers' favorite characters. No matter how many times I replay this scene (and I have the series on DVD), I tear up every time. Well done.
I love how this is essentially the same music from when they launched the raft, but still distinct enough to stand on its own. Kudos to Michael Giacchino for delivering one of the best scores on television.
I miss the fuck out of this show. For six straight years this was appointment television; every Wednesday at 9PM. I'm watching it for the first time since it went off the air and it still holds up. My eyes still well up when I see Rose and Bernard reunite. I never realized just how much I missed these characters.
The casting on Lost was outstanding so many amazing characters. Most shows have maybe 1-5. Lost had like 15 that you could choose from, heck at the end of the series you loved them all
Literally the first TV show that made me truly invested in those characters lives. It was never about the mystery, always about the people which is why I am one of the few who loved the ending.
i cry every time i see this. i also lose it when Bernard lifts his shoulders and smiles so big like he truly is the happiest man on earth cause he found his love. awwwww
For as much as people were not happy with the Sayid and Shannon reunion in The End, this scene for me seals why they did end up together. Sure they did not have a relationship nor did Sayid ever allude to it for 4 whole seasons since Season 2, however that's beside the point. What matters is that in this moment and in several other scenes in this season, the writing, filming and musical score all points towards us truly feeling that this really was a loss not just for Sayid but more importantly - it sets up a poignant narrative theme which ripples throughout all the seasons - that is that as soon as our heroes find redemption/love it is more than often snatched away. Sayid and Shannon's love - as unexpected, unconventional and perhaps not realistic as Sayid and Nadia's was - it epitomised what the island represented for all of the characters. It was the chance to be the person they never felt they could be in the real world. The tragedy of her death and Sayid cradling her in his arms - stands as the beginning of many lost loves which would come after on the show and the establishment of the show's central message that life is bittersweet and precious - for what short time we have we should find someone who values us, respects us, appreciates us, loves us and allows us to bring out the best in ourselves.
@@sileight84 Walt was able to get off the island. Michael died on a freighter explosion, near the island. He's now trapped as a ghost/ whisperer in the island and needs to atone for his sins before he can "move on". Vincent the dog was still alive at the end of S6; he lay beside Jack as he (Jack) slowly died. He's probably under the care of Hurley now. In the epilogue, Hurley (as the new protector of the island) recruited Walt to return to the island, presumably to help the soul of his father and other trapped souls.

Words cannot express how much i and we all miss this show. This wasn't just a television show, it was a spectacle, a true sensation. ❤
Watched it on Netflix again. The best show ever made.
It doesn’t matter what people think. It doesn’t matter how it ended. Salute the best TV show of all time.

@@yevgeniyaleshchenko849 I also loved the ending. Christian spelled it all out.
Nothing and I mean nothing will ever come close to the magic Lost had on its viewers. Nothing about it was bad
This isn't breaking bad...
What I love most about this moment is that it most likely is the first scene Rose and Bernard played together yet their chemistry is off the charts.
Every single character had amazing chemistry with one another
they really did separate L Scott Caldwell from Sam Anderson throughout filming season 2, and what we see really is the first time they meet on set.
@@ZuluRomeoI found that such an odd decision because the characters are supposed to know each other. Guess it worked out anyway.

No dialogue, just the music but the music seemed to tell the whole story. One of the all time best scenes in the show.
LOST is the only show that doesn't really need dialogues in some scenes. It is trully one of its kind.

Scenes such as the Bernard and Rose reunion and the Desmond and Penny phone call make me well up like a small child. It is such perfection.
