This woman appeared in this one episode only and she still has unbelievable chemistry with Richard. Such small details are what make a scene so amazing and meaningful.
It's the emotional aspect that separates Lost from any other mystery show that I have seen, except maybe Dark. Those are the only two that have hit that sweet spot for me.
Thank you! Yes, it is! They don't make them like this anymore. It has Impeccable writing, and a diverse number of characters are all connected to each other in some way. The best character archs, and I don't care people say the ending was perfect. Oh and the music my God LOST wouldn't be LOST without Michael Giacchino! The music is the best ever written for a show. This is clearly one of Lost’ best scenes. This episode (Ab Aeterno) broke all of the show’s rules and delivered us a profound connection to Richard’s character. A film can easily be made out of this episode
I like Richard really much, he's one of my favorite characters, and I think that this is one of the most emotional scenes of Lost. Still the best series of the world! ♥ ~
I think Nestor Carbonell SHOULD HAVE WON an Emmy or at least a Golden Globe for his performance on this episode... I think his performance was the greatest, the most touching one ever in Lost, I don't care about Michael Emerson or Terry O'Quinn after I have seen Ab Aeterno..
I love Richard's story the most. It's so genuine and filled with pure love. He's just trying to save his wife riding in the rain all night for medicine. He doesn't want anything in life. No blue jeans no cheeseburgers...
When you understand WHY Richard didn't age, and what he has seen and experienced, you feel a great sense of pity and sympathy for him. You understand the burden he has carried all these many years: ..the failure to save his wife, the accidental taking of a life, the belief that he is condemned, that he will never reunite in the next life with Isabella and that ONLY hell awaits him. You get the sense of torment within him being Jacob's consigliere, and being participant in activities like the purge of the Dharma Initiative.
Amazingly done I love how Isabella is looking directly at Richard but Richard looks lost and can't focus on her directly. I real sense that he can't see her.
Who cares about critics, you don't need to reiterate that shit. Lost was beautiful start to finish, all the way through. Including this touching scene of course.
Perfect, beautiful scene, most particularly the idea that "they're already together" at 2:18. This makes complete sense in light of "The End" which portrays the idea that between life and death, there can be a place where in which there is no time - a place in which someone who died many years ago can somehow already be with you even though you haven't also died yet. She isn't necessarily meaning "they're already together" in this moment, in this scene; moreover, she could be more likely referring to the fact that outside of time and space - the people who are most important to us in our lives are already together in this special "place" between life and death which comes just before whatever you believe comes next... It would be no different if Juliet were to appear to Sawyer, Charlie to Claire or Shannon to Sayid - in their reality in the Sideways they've already found one another again, it's just that the living person hasn't completed their purpose in life yet to be there with them. I think if anyone going through life can hold that belief, it's a really powerful great comfort. Just to know that, in a way, the happy ending that hasn't happened to you yet is already present in a different reality, and that all you have to do is take comfort in knowing it is there, it is there already in some way, and that one day you'll really feel it. That's powerful stuff! Fantastic scene!
In Islam, we believe death is the place between. It conotates well with what you said. We believe that we wait in a "lobby" world until we are revived by God, called for judgement and then step into the world of eternal life. Space and time that apply to our current world may manifest differently in the lobby world, which is of an unknown nature to us now.
I binge-watched this whole series just now I hardly cry watching shows/movies But this was the single scene in Lost that broke me down in tears -- when Isabelle appears!
