Mood music jam w/ Deluge, Deepmind 12D, Dreadbox Erebus v3 & Abyss, Minitaur, OTO Bam, BigSky, Space

- A live performance, all on hardware (DAWless, if you will), and inspired by some time alone. The idea came about while tinkering with a new piece of gear, the Behringer Deepmind 12D. I'm impressed with this thing, especially its on-board effects.
Synthstrom Audible Deluge - Sequencer, drums
Behringer Deepmind 12 - Poly
Dreadbox Erebus v3 + OTO Bam - Melody
Moog Minitaur + Strymon Big Sky - Bass
Dreadbox Abyss + Eventide Space - Pad
Written and performed in the same day, and uploaded as is, with only a little compression/limiting on the master.

You should add this song to spotify!. have this on repeat all day, !
I've had a deepmind 12 for over a year now and I still have yet to get any of the onboard reverbs to sound this good. Bravo, you beautiful bastard.
There is a bigsky in there somewhere :D
But according to what Jay writes in the video, only the Minotaur is going through the Strymon, he explicitely wrote the Deepmind was using the internal effects. Quite impressive use of on board effects!
Best thing here was you bro! Congratz and keep going! Amazing!
That was absolutely brilliant! Loved the erebus v3 there, might have to pick up one of those hehe
nice, sounds massive. Love the dreadbox stuff
Man, this is really good stuff.
Mr., this one is a mind blower, thank you Mr.

Deepmind just sounds beautiful!
Inspiring. Great job, mate
You just sold me on the Erebus v3. Loved this jam! Nice touch at the end there 🤣👌
really like the track, good melodies, keep it up!
Awesome track. I'm so looking forward to the arrival of my Deluge...
Damn you! Now the melody is stuck in my head.
That Erebus sounds fucking incredible!
Great jam, small and very musical!
Excellent work.

Great work - I have Deluge and Deepmind 6 - Looking for inspiration is what brought me here - I found just what I was looking for!
can only echo the previous comments - superb jam!
Adorable. Master job.

Superb!
Wow! Yes yes!
This jam is inspired me!
What a bop :0
Pretty good mixing and song
Very nice!
Cool 👍
Here lusting over the abyss 😭
They are all great but I think this is my favorite as of this date.
Indeed, I have listened to all of his work, this still has that distinct factor to it. its emotional content is a notch higher than the rest. soul-stirring composition
Sick
very eye-q records.. nice... deepmind is a beast
woooow! i´m adict to musc hardware machines. I love this videos
More with Deluge please!
Du bist der Beste!!!
nice jam
Nice
I f*ckin love this song dude
I listened four times in a row
Okay, I've been listening to this a shit ton over the last three days. I'm declaring this the best synth jam on YT. You've also blasted past RMR and Ehsan to knock Dataline out of my top spot.
@@lergeworkman5208 I know right? The jams really manage to strike a chord somewhere deep in my brain. It's hard not to come off as a total fanboy but it's all I've been playing all week..
Impressiv!
Just stumbling on to this Nov 2020... I have a looper (RC505), Deepmind 12, MODX7, JDXi, Novation Circuit, Timeline, etc and do Live looping, sample playback (all my own vocal and keyboard played samples) - been looking at MC101 and/or MPC ONE, but this DELUGE machine seems to be such an awesome piece of gear. For that price range, you could also get MC101 AND the MPC... Deluge is very tempting.... :-) Nice work on the song too.
That was really nice. Just picked up a Deluge. Does it 'play well' with the Deep Mind? I'm looking to build a DAW less system. Can't stand the computer anymore. Going old-school like I did in the late 80's.
great
Good Jam bro!👍BrAp oN!!¡!
Nice :-)
7 month´s later..........🙄.........Still loving it........ Do you know what this tells me ?
I've been eyeing the deepmind 12d. Only thing that turns me off from it is it's size. Could crowd an already tight desk for me. May go for a blofeld instead.
Impressive gear collection and song. Nice musicality in your compositions.
Hey thanks! I had a Blofeld and loved its minimal profile, and it sounded pretty good, but found myself frustrated by all the menu diving. Might be worth looking into a Tetra or something for similar size/profile. And yeah, the Deepmind 12D takes up a little too much room, but I think its layout and UI is stellar, so no more complaints from me on it.
and still......enormety,-😗🌹
Have you ANY idea of how stellar youre music sounds ???
Great work! Do you know if you can use the deluge's "keys" to play the external sounds of the deepmind 12? Or is it necessary to run the Deepmind to something like the keystep, and then into the line-in of the Deluge?
Amazing. How are you recording everything? Do you record into a daw also? Great work.
Yeah, I multitrack into a DAW (unless I'm using something like the Elektron Octatrack or Monomachine).
Awesome track bro! How are you liking the deluge 1 year later? I’m thinking about getting it this year and would love your insight✌🏻
I had the Deluge for about a year total before I let it go. It's got a lot that's cool about it, but ultimately it wasn't for me. Considering your own gear, and use of the MPC for sequencing, I'm not sure how much you'll get from the Deluge, but maybe it'll be your thing? All the best!
@@JayHosking thanks for the advice my friend! All the best!
!!!
What mixer are you using here to merge all the sounds? Thank you! :) And amazing video as always!
I use the Allen & Heath Qu-16 as mixer and audio interface. And thanks!
@@JayHosking Thank you for replying Jay! You rock!
Any midi issues between the Octatrack and the Erebus? I head the Nyx had problems so I'm a bit worried. Just ordered an Erebus.
Not that I noticed!
Beautiful. What are you currently using as a sequencer?
I have a few sequencers, but the two Elektrons (Octatrack, Digitakt) as workhorses and the Toraiz Squid as a more creative source are currently what I'd reach for first, depending on the setup. And thanks!
Question, how do you record all That? How many inputs in your interface? Are you summing everything into stereo? Can you explain?
I use a mixer/audio interface, the Qu-16, but other units, like the Soundcraft Mtk units, would also do the trick!
did you ditch the deepmind for the peak? I have a deepmind 12 and in time after I get some more from it I suspect I'll do something similar.
I haven't sold off the DM12D. It's great at those Juno sounds and I love how it comes alive with the effects suite and modulation section. BUT if I find I keep reaching for the Peak, I might get rid of it for something else.
@@JayHosking Roger that. I have definitely shuffled off a lot of gear as I learn more if what I like and want. I definitely enjoy your music bro.
Very reminiscent of Plone.
do you mix the music after recording into a DAW? if so, which plugins do you use
I mainly try to get a good premix out of the devices, and then add eq/compression/limiting on the master. Mainly Waves plugins plus one of the Arturia preamps.
@@JayHosking Which DAW do you use?
@@logimite7174 Mostly Reason, but some Ableton, and I still love ProTools though I hardly touch it anymore.
@@JayHosking haven't heard of many people using reason these days. Cool to see another reason user
Is it the deepmind producing that heavy, dark bass? If not, which is? Thanks
Moog Minitaur.
Erebus worth buying?
If you could only have one Erebus or abyss?
Abyss, by far.
How much stuff do you own? 😅
Very enjoyable and musical. I really don’t like noodling and buzzing sounds . I would buy your album.
You can find two hardware albums at jayhosking.bandcamp.com/. Thanks!
Pretty great but a lot of clipping from the reverb
for me a little bit too much of everything, sorry
