It seems like 4 beats in a bar to me, each bass note falls on a beat, and it's the melody playing an off rhythm that creates the illusion of an irregular time signature, just like Radiohead's Pyramid Song is in 4/4 but it doesn't sound like it is. Regardless of time signature it's a beautiful piece of music, i wish i could justify buying a Matriarch just now, but i can't maybe Christmas Time.
Your channel is dangerously great. Excellent tunes and I am deciding my first hardware synth based on my research within your channel ;) Thanks for making tunes for us
Man, this is incredible. I have a Subsequent 37 that I love. I'm going to get a Matriarch sometime this coming year and have been trying to decide whether I should sell the S37 to get it or whether I should keep both. You just convinced me that I need both haha!
I've been thinking along those same lines and agree -- they complement each other beautifully. I'll be keeping my Subsequent 37 whether or not I end up getting a Matriarch.
You are an absolute king of synthesis 😍 Thanks for warming up my days at work ❤️❤️ makes them peacfull and enjoyable :) Much love sent to you from France ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Nice, the matriarch is a beast worth the money for sure. Analog synths are amazing I got to try it out and made so nice baslines plus leads using the record and loop feature.
So imenesly beautiful, Jay... I don't know what to do with you, but you have etched you're Hoskingsound so thoroughly into. "New Wawe EDM diasphiora" that big times are coming, and I wanna be there when it happens, -
Lol my little brother was doing homework over FaceTime with some friends and I had this playing in the background. Sounded like they were planning some mission to Mars or something.
I considered buying a Grandmother for quite a while. I already have a Mother 32. I could have zagged, but I zigged; I have now invested the same amount that I might have paid for the Grandma in synthesizer modules and a Eurorack case. This video makes me wonder, however, if I should have zagged instead. Nope. I might, however, decide to get the Grandma in addition, or the Sub 37. It's too soon to know, for now. I think patching options are addictive. Anyway, I am hoping to create some stuff of my own some time in the near future.
@@JayHosking The Mother-32 is a good starting point for getting into modular synthesis, and it has a lot of stuff in it. But I am still attracted to those major Moogs that you are using. There will be a time for those. I actually purchased your album yesterday, after listening to this track. I am all new to Bandcamp, but my first impression is great. I was also inspired to make my first RUclips modular jam yesterday. It's at a very early stage, there is a lot to be done yet, and I want to add some reverb to my Eurorack. Not sure which module to go for, but I might start pretty simple and go from there.
god damn. This track is literally the national anthem for 2020.
Holy Shit, that sounds so good. Playing this on my Live Stream tomorrow.
I adore my matriarch. It is endless let fascinating and inspirational. More so that any synth I’ve ever owned.
It’s the best isn’t it? It’s got a serious growl.

Coming back to this song tonight, I find it purely brilliant. Very inspiring. My time in the world of analog synths has only begun.
Excellent, amazing music❤
I hope the Matriarchs start to build stock soon... That thing sounds so fantastic.
HOLY CRAP!!! 😱
THAT WAS FREAKING INCREDIBLE!!!
This and the other piece you did on this setup are just outstanding - every time I listen to them.
Nice jam. I love playing my Matriarch along with my Sub 37. They make a great pair.

It's our collective pleasure . . . from Australia.

So warm and lush. Like a engulfing dream storm.
Wow...the moment you start to open up the filter on the Sub at 3:15 is stunning. Awesome.
This is still great.
I love your odd time signatures. wonderfully crafted pieces.

Your Moog videos are so good! I came for the Matriarch, but I think the SS37 is the star of the show ;-)

Jay helps us realize we need it all. That's how you define influence. He is marketing the tools by way of his practice.
Matriarch sound fabulous, nice work Jay 👍
I keep coming back to this analog gem, I just shared it with a guy looking for a Sub 37.

Wonderful sound man
Очень проникновенно
People who say the sub37 doesn’t sound like a Moog are talking out of a different orifice. It’s wonderful to play and use.
Lol my little brother was doing homework over FaceTime with some friends and I had this playing in the background. Sounded like they were planning some mission to Mars or something.
Absolutely perfect.
huge beautiful sound coming from both synths, great job, love it
FIRE
I like how the Matriarch went bananas at the end. I'd like to hear a little more of those sounds and effects.

I understood that reference! 😆 The galaxy map song was the best track in the entire series, to me!
Couldn't agree more!
I thought it before I read the description, then looked to the comments to see if someone else had noticed, leading me to the description 😄
Very inspiring 😁
No, thank you for indulging us!
I'll second that.!
Perfection as always.
Sick Mass Effect reference man 💖
