  • In this video we are going to be taking a closer look into texturing and materials. It's all about how we get those nice and realistic textures within Octane. We are going to be adding materials to the watch and also the the rock that we use in the scene. This is the second part of the Octane for Blender series.

    14:40 Why are you rotating the piece you want to rotate by having the rest of the UV islands selected as well? Deselect everything, hover your mouse over the part you want to rotate, then press 'L' on the keyboard to select just that island, and then you can easily rotate it from its center as its point of rotation.

    Thank you Jonas this is really helpful. I hope the next video that covers lighting goes in-depth. I have a question if that's ok : When do you use just normal and when do you use just displacement ? and when do you use both ? is one faster than the other ? Does displacement always look better or is normal enough ? Thank you so much Jonas.

    • @JonasRoenn
      @JonasRoenn  Год назад

      Hey! You are welcome! Well most often i find that normal Maps are fine. But normal is “faking it” and displacement is actual change in the geometry - so in closer shots that are angled specific ways i would use displacement as it would be more accurate - though displacement also ads to the render time alot more than normal Maps ☺️ hope it helps? 😅

      Never both - only one of them

      Hey Leonardo! Glad you liked it. For personal projects you can use Quixel Megascans - for better and more detailed product etc. I pay for models at CGTrader

      @@JonasRoenn Im trying to set up Quixel Bridge but it doesn't import things to blender (i watched all the tutorials for this problem but still doesn't work) can you explain how to solve this problem? ..Great videos by the way :D

  • @shokomann

    I would appreciate if you explain where you got the model from, and how you did the first setup, I cant get the models look so "white". I try to find the model and import it so I can follow 1 to 1, otherwise I will just try with a different one which will make it much harder to follow, sorry noob here :D

      From Megascans - and try with a correction node in the albedo
