Wait that's crazy timing, I just reinstalled Octane again around 30 minutes ago and am currently getting used to the settings again, nice!
Hahah perfect timing then! 🙌
Always don’t fail to amaze us with your knowledge packed tutorials. Thank you so much.
Hey Irshad! Thanks for all the support!
@@JonasRoenni downloaded the octane x apple version but i have some performances issues also the viewport performance os worse than cycles, my specs are: m1 max 32 -core GPU, did i do something wrong or is it just slower?
This series is like a hidden gem :)
Thank you ! 🕺
Thanks a lot! Looking forward for the next parts :)
Hey Artem! Good to know! :D
Thanks A LOT for this!!! Is something that has always been on my list. THANKS!!!
Hey Prema! Glad to hear this! stay tuned for the next ones.
Thank you so much man, i cannot even begin to express how useful this tutorial is to me
Thank you so much! Glad i could help! Stay tuned for more 🕺
@@JonasRoenn oh I'm locked in!
Nice 👍 video good to see more blender Octane stuff
Hey! love your channel ;) Let's get it!
OMG Man you are legend. Can wait to recreate this scene with you. Subbed already.
Hey Andy! Thanks! 🙌🕺
You are amazing mann... subscribed.. i m excited to learn a lot from your channel❤ .. btw.. is octane better than cycles if we are using mac?
bro thank you for this and your other tutorials
Hey Jamal! You are welcome!
That was a great video to get started, thanks!
You are welcome! 🙌
Oh man finally :D
🙌🙌
I had completely forgotten about octane for blender since they had not updated it in a long time, since it is now on 3.5 Its a great option over luxcore
Get on it! ;)
Thanks for the video!
hey Cesar! Of course! :D
🔥🔥🔥
🔥🔥🔥
Great vid, thank you! I love Cycles but there's no denying the edge these more developed engines have. I'm looking forward to additional videos to help familiarize myself with the new material set-up. I admit the "Universal material" is a lot bulkier looking than Cycles' principled BSDF. It seems there are different IOR values for color channels for metallic materials which confuses me a little, and smooth shading/shadow termination is all handled within the shader itself. I also don't understand how IOR influences either metallic or dielectric materials, given that I've only ever been exposed to it in the context of transmissive materials.
Hey Travis! Stay tuned and I much more content on Octane will come :D
very needed
Thank you very much!!!
You are welcome! 🙌
did you hear about the octane plug in for blender? Great video as always, can’t wait for next part!
Yes i have - but not tried it yet 🙌
that's the first time that i know that octane is available for blender lol great video
Haha great! 🕺 try it out 🙌
thank you !!
Of course champ! 🙌
thank you
You are welcome! 🙌
Thank you so much for this series, as I was wondering for a long time now how to use octane in blender properly. One question is still living in my mind : how did you find every info you're giving us here alone? I searched for knowledge everywhere but the only thing i found was the octane documentation and it is very intimidating, so I was wondering if you learned stuff elsewhere or not ? Anyway thank you for this !
You are welcome! Just a lot of experimentation and Reading documentation - as well as RUclips tut and courses 🕺🙌
Please make whole octane blender masterclass because I'm struggling to use it,no idea how it works
Hey - will do my best whenever i have the time 🙌
cLassic property panel not showing & no net gpu in render image : I have a m1 studio and suggestions?
Does it work to bring in models from the asset browser, and append other files that have been modeled in other versions of Blender (particularly 4.1 or 4.2) and then just do lighting / shading in Octane?
And did you notice or run any tests on comparing render speeds? Cycles vs Octane?
Hi Thank you for your tutorials! I have one question, everything works except for the part where we have to adjust the camera settings. the "octane camera imager & Octane Post Processing" nothing changes for me??
hmm that is weird? have not tried that before
Sorry I meant, When in your video you change settings in the "Octane Camera Imager & Octane Post Processing, nothing changes for me

Hello my friend, thanks for this nice content ♥.
Does otane work well with an AMD graphics card because currently I only have one and I don't want to get another graphics card?
my regards ❤
I think so! Depends on the graphic card - but it works well with Metal and NVIDIA, so for sure also AMD 🙌
Heelp: I dont have any of those options you have in the octane Render Properties at "Octane kernel" ? There is only a "Kernel Node Tree" where I cant chose anthing and thats about it :( ?
Hmm - do you have a GPU ?
@@JonasRoenn i believe I did it...I needed to download and install some kind of NVIDIA something and now some options popped up but it looks a bit different from how it looks in your tutorial...I hope I can do the tutorial and will continue now :)
I face the same problem, may i know what exactly to download so the kernels fixed?. Actually j already download the cudnn, but it still doesn't show anything on the kernel
Are there any differences between the paid version and the free version?
Limited to one GPU - only working while on internet and a few other things
I really want to try Octane for Blender. What GPU would you recommend? Like, minimum requirements for comfortable work.
Get an Nvidia if you can afford it - Or the Mac M chips are also getting quite good. I typically use my MacBook Pro M1.
@@JonasRoenn Would GTX 1080 TI 11GB be enough do you think? I see some good deals on the local used market.
@@BrentonWoods774 Get an RTX card as these are much faster.
I downloaded both files and installed them, but i couldn't open octane render server, i tried many methods but same problem i use windows 10 64bit , does anyone had a problem with the installation?
Have you solved it ?
@@JonasRoenn yes thank you jonas
Hello, very good video, I installed blender octane render and I unfortunately have a small bug, when I open a new octane blend file shows me the kernel and I can set the max samples etc... But when I open the box everything disappears and it shows me the message: "Incompatible or invalid output node", and I can not fix anything. Could someone help me please?
Hmm - try to uninstall and download it again
Both the server and the Octane version
Same issue here in Mac Os Ventura, Have you fixed it ?
To fix this -> File -> New -> Octane Default Start Up
My heirs will worship your name for eons to come.
What a comment! Thank you 🙌💙
sorry, maybe you know why when I go to render view, instead of an image I see just a gray screen?
GeForce GTX 1070 Ti
Sry - got no idea - maybe try to restart? Is octaneServer enabled?
@@JonasRoenn so it is! thank you
Is octane free for blender?
Yes there is a free version - as i explain in the video 😉
We need tutorials on c4d octane’s level of realistic texturing, lighting, look devs in blender’s octane. Pls help 🫣
More to come!
how did tv make such a realistic stone
All in Octane shading ;)
Man, the tutorial is lit, but it's a bummer that I can't rock Octane 'cause I'm rolling with Intel Arc
Hey Raja - yea that is a nummer. But hopefully you can take away some tricks in the coming videos, where composition and lighting is universal 🙌
@@JonasRoenn Sure bro👍
Where's the userprefs.blend file?
??
@@JonasRoenn there doesn't seem to be a userprefs.blend file for Octane Blender, at least on Mac.
@@sidekick3rida hmm dont know about this - sorry 😅
you're incredible and I thank you very much for the informative tutorials you make but when you explain something, more often than not, you repeat the same thing at least 4 times 😢
trust me it's very clear when you say it the first time round. saying it again and again in different phrasings just prolongs your videos and it poses a significant challenge to stay focused all throughout for people with ADHD like me :(
I'm not trying to be offensive or overly critical, I'm truly grateful for your original content. you can just talk less and your videos would be more effective and enjoyable to watch 😁
Hey Yotam - Thanks for the comment. I undertand.
English is not my first language, so sometimes I have a hard time keeping it simple. I'm quite the introvert, so RUclips is not easy for me and this is why I might repeat things. Also to myself haha.
But... I'm sorry if it is hard for you to follow along. I'm doing this for free in my freetime, so don't have a lot of time to edit the videos. Nevertheless, I will try my best not to talk too much. Hope you stay.
Best,
Jonas
I most definitely will stay. your tutorials are insanely unique and helpful. thank you again for your free contribution!
your voice sounds like AI cloned voice
Hahah 😂
I've been using Octane in C4D and i switched into blender along ago the engine is really underrated and really good and the octane blender community are really cool and helpful in case guys you are interested to use octane, @J_Roenn last week Ed O'Connell new Version of Octane Wrangler for 3.5 Version.
Hey Youness! You are so right - and interesting! Have to check it out 🙌
