Ridiculous .A Subscription model for a blender addon that’s not even that useful . Keen tools is Charging 18 dollars a MONTH for this precious face builder .The reason people use blender is to start away from greedy developers
Happy to see more videos from you guys! Hope to see more future updates and improvements on this addon, really a life saver. P.s. Will there be an option for purchasing this addon one as a one time payment instead of a yearly/monthly subscription?
I love using this addon in the free trial but the subscription prices are quite expensive, something I won’t be paying for a single addon. Maybe you guys can make this a one time purchase?
Sharing or selling Blender add-ons (Python scripts) Blender’s Python API is an integral part of the software, used to define the user interface or develop tools for example. The GNU GPL license therefore requires that such scripts (if published) are being shared under a GPL compliant license. You are free to sell such scripts, "but the sales then is restricted to the download service itself". Your customers will receive the script under the same license (GPL), with the same free conditions as everyone has for Blender. So they should be selling it as a whole stand alone addon, not as yearly subscription...
We're considering those perpetuals licences. We don't have any solid timeframe, but if we ever roll them out, it's most likely going to be announced on our socials, RUclips included.
@keentools Hi. I'm trying to see how to apply this technique to heads with longer hair, like people with hair that flows down to their shoulder. Any suggesstions?
If you use Auto Align, we'd suggest first deleting those pin points that can't be visually located. Then line up those features that are clearly seen like eyes, nose and mouth. You can also go to the Model tab just turn off head parts covered by hair. If you need the 3D in full in the end, you can turn them back on when you've finished 'sculpting'.
Hi, KeenTools. I love this add-on for Blender. I'm not really a full-time character creator so this tool definitely helps especially for the monthly and even the free trial offer. Would there be a possibility to perhaps have this as a permanent license that is similar to what Character Creator 4 has?
This seems to be a most excellent tool. Couple questions. Does the software offer an option to model pets such as dogs or cats? Does the software offer an option model a group image/photo? Not select an individual but rather, model the multiple people within the group? Thanks.
Thank you for your comment! You create as many new heads as you need for a group photo. Each time FaceBuilder will ask you to pick the needed person to create a 3D head of. As for pets, so far FaceBuilder only offers human heads. But just as an experiment, you can try this: Activate 'Allow facial expressions', go to Views > Options > Mesh rigidity and try decreasing the values below closer to 0.0 while pulling our default head on to a pet. We tried that with a dog once and it worked. But again, it's not how it's meant to work, just an experiment :)
The plugin is very good and practical , but I wish there was a completely free version without a time limit of 15 days. Friends, do you know any plugin like this even less accurate but free that you can introduce? Please help, thank you
We do have an unofficial Face Rig add-on for the FaceBuilder model. It generates a bone rig for the face, and can be found here: github.com/amilovsky/ktfacerig
FaceBuilder supports all most common image file formats including snapshots of video frames. Not necessarily photos either. AI generated and painted images are also possible. In fact, you can create a 3D head using just one image.
Go to the Sculpting tab, select the head and switch Object mode to Sculpt mode. You can sculpt it now. Just remember that if you then go back to editing your head in FaceBuilder it will reset all your sculpting.
As far as I get it, you're talking about head tracking. Make sure you follow each step as shown in our tutorial on tracking heads: ruclips.net/video/eG-XFn8Iqng/видео.htmlsi=6K4RW915m_sgLo2H
FaceBuilder lets you create 3D heads using reference images. So what you can do is create a 3D head with FaceBuilder in Blender, and then import an existing 3D game model and replace its head with the FaceBuilder head.
If I were to attempt to reconstruct my face now, I’d take nice and lined up pictures of my face, perfect for scanning. But I’m trying to reconstruct a face from a bunch of childhood pictures. All the pictures are not perfect. Do you think there is a way to still do it?
A simple answer to this is yes, you'll still get some sort of a result, even with one picture. Any 3D head you get this way is a 3D interpretation of a 2D image. The more different angles you have at hand and the higher quality, the more accurate your reconstruction can be.
3D Print Toolbox: docs.blender.org/manual/en/latest/addons/mesh/3d_print_toolbox.html

Yes. Load images, check 'Allow facial expressions'. Align mesh in each view, then go Model tab > Resulting expression in 3D, select source view for the expression, then export your 3D head with that expression.
@@keentools Thanks. I found that convenient little tab last night after I sent the message. To be honest, I don't know. You can export your 3D head from FaceBuilder directly to Character Creator and MetaHuman. And you can also export it in any format supported by Blender like fbx, obj, etc.
