Outside all the obvious things, one thing that I found truly memorable about this film was the friendship among those 4 guys.
And I loved how Sean defended Will's friends to Gerry when Gerry insulted them.

This whole movie is about learning to take on risk. Notice that Will didn't ask her out in 45 minutes and she had to ask him. It is foreshadowing for the rest of the story.

Yes, you’re right. All these things you don’t realise until someone else points them out to you. Will has a fear of rejection or being abandoned, so he either doesn’t take the risk, or gets his rejection in first.

It's a good movie but it's tries to make people feel smart, but then next day they still have to go back to work. So they realize they ain't that smart and get sad.

It's a terrible scene. It's terribly written. I'm baffled by why people love this movie. The line about eating caramels being as arbitrary as drinking coffee is dumb. The "how about them apples?" is cringeworthy. The whole genius who knows everything but works as a construction worker is completely unnecessary to the love story at the center of the movie. You can throw all the absurd genius stuff out and the movie works even better.

I like how he didn't drop in confidence when she didn't connect with the caramel comment. People respect when you you're confident in your own skin. I forget that at times
He won as soon as he threw her for a loop, even for a second. He has lots of courage and shot a good angle. She laughed. Women like confident men and risk takers who are going to engage the world -- them included -- on their own terms.

I can't tell what Skylar says after he embarrasses her with the caramels comment and she walks away. I think she's saying "Quittin," meaning, "I'm not gonna give you the opportunity to put your foot in your mouth one more time, just call me if the spirit moves you." And her laugh afterwards is absolutely perfect, so true-to-life. She and Damon and Williams ALL gave Oscar-winning worthy performances.

That was such a great movie. The scene was just as I remembered it, except I forgot the 'get together and eat a bunch of caramels' joke. I met a chick from MIT in Amsterdam, a few years ago. These brainy schools have some sophisticated females like the Minnie Driver character in this movie, like exACTly the same. Driver was perfectly cast in 'Good Will Hunting.' I don't remember seeing a great movie about college-aged people since this one. It was REALLY interesting to watch. Loved the ending when he decides to postpone his new life and go find her again.
