accent 100/10
Haha thanks.
😂😂😂👍
i could listen to this guy talk all day lol
how do i get my audio effects to play back to me without having to constantly hear my own mic?
oh it jay
You have to head over to the "Routing" tab and deselect your mic
No
best and most comprehensive review / walkthrough. Clearly best on YT with so much great info! Great job
Thanks for the kind words. Glad you liked it.
Can you control everything from within the app without having to physically interact with the goxlr? Asking because i have a disability that prevents me from physically interacting with it
Yes you can adjust settings via the app.
Can you connect this directly to a mirrorless camera as well? so if. Connected as you explained but then into a mirrorless camera as well to use an XLR mic for better audio coming from the camera. Like i want to use my Røde XLR with my Sony A7iii.. if that made sence ^^
No you'll need to use a video capture card in your PC for that.
Kevin Muldoon i figured it out! Using a Saramonic SmartRig II XLR Adapter instead
That's great. Glad you got it sorted.
Thanks for taking the time to put this together.
You're welcome.
As an Arabic speaker with a minimal English knowledge, your accent is beautiful to listen to but hard to understand lol.
Keep up the good work man, love your vids
Thanks Bassam. Best of luck.
Hey so i just got my GoXLR and for some reason my sampler doesnt work so im looking for help
I recommend reviewing their user manual. There is a lot of great information there that all point you in the right direction.
watching that boot up process was the coolest thing. I love it. I can't wait for mine to come in and watch this happen
Enjoy. I'm sure you'll like it.
@@KevinMuldoon Thank you! After seeing your video it makes me even more excited
I need it. I can't afford it. I cry.
Hi Kevin. Good video. I bought a GoXLR last week and I absolutely love it.
I was just wondering what camera you use for the overhead shots, and what you mount it on. I've looking for a reasonably priced overhead set-up.
Cheers.
I use a Sony RX10 II.
I'll maybe upgrade it next year as its autofocus can be frustrating.
@@KevinMuldoon Thanks, Kevin. Kind of you to answer.
Do you mount it on some kind of C stand?
@Ian Macdonald I've actually did three or four videos about overhead cameras on my channel as I've tried so many different setups.
Before I packed everything up for my house move, this is what I was using this setup ruclips.net/video/weYtzqckvrQ/видео.html
I'm going to revaluate it in my new office.
At the moment, I'm swaying between using a clamp on the ceiling or just use some elgato multi mounts on the desk. Though in my experience, when you mount the camera on the desk, it's liable to shake a lot. Which is why I might go the ceiling route.
@@KevinMuldoon Thanks very much, Kevin. I'll check out the videos.
You're welcome. Good luck.
This piece of equipment is a pile of shite. Sent mine back as it wouldn’t work and gave up after trying for 2 days
Good to see another Scottish RUclipsr, good video mate, very well done
Thanks mate.
I connected two computers to the GOxlr device, 1 for gaming and 1 for streaming ,,, but the game sound is present in the mic pointer in the streamlabs . Is there a solution, ? please reply :(
I never experienced that issue myself.
That being said, I would only connect the GoXLR to one PC. Audio interfaces are designed to connect to one computer.
Holy cow that man did the Homer Simpson ebaumsworld soundboard
Does the GoXLR work with a headphone amplifier, for example the Behringer HA400?
Yeah it will. Headphone amplifiers should work with any device with a 3.5mm headphone jack.
Hey everyone my GoXlr has been giving me problems with my game chat! I have chat enabled in broadcast stream mix so my stream can hear my teammates in cod, i play on pc with ps4 controller i have a usb pedal that i use for push to talk. EVERYTIME I PRESS IT DOWN TO TALK MY TEAMTES HEAR THEMSELVES ECHOING???? ANY HELP PLEASE if i unclick chat in that row the stream cant hear my teammates
but the echoing goes away?! any help would be appreciated
Does this work in a game like fortnite
The game you play is irrelevant 👍
Wtf is wrong w u
I have 2 computers, one for streaming and the other for playing. Can I broadcast and play at the same time, and will this GoXLR help me? Because I have audio problems
Yes. One pc will be used for games and its output should go to your game capture card.
The GoXLR is an all round solution that has many effects. It's not the best audio interface out there though and if you don't need effects, I'd look at alternatives.
Great vid! What brand xlr cables do you use? Long would be greatly appreciated.
I don't have a fixed brand i use every time.
Looking on Amazon, I can see I've bought various brands such as Stagg, No Bull Music Gear and VisioSound.
3:52 the finger hahahah and nice review and accent
Too big. I will buy the GOXLR mini.
best name ive ever seen actually its a name i used to use as a kid to pretend to be scottish lol
Assuming when you buy the GoXLR the wires that need to be connected to computer are included? Also do you ever notice quality issues or problems/glitches when used with the Shure SM7B?
Yeah it only works with a computer. It doesn't record to SD card or anything.
I didn't notice any major issues per say, but I thought the quality was better on my other audio interfaces.
Only if I had the money
please help me how to hook up my dj controller onto GoXlr?for your information my Dj Controller connected to my laptop and my Goxlr connected to my Pc..
did i need cloudlifter with shure sm7b and goxlr ?
Thank You
It isn't absolutely necessary, but I believe the signal quality will be a little better if you do.
How do you funny mic
That’s what I wanted to know
Can the work in a Mac? (Assuming no). And is there any way to use this without the app? I really just want to use the LIVE sampler, loop and effects. I don’t need all the other stuff. Please let me know. Thanks.
Mac support wasn't available on release. I don't believe there is support for it yet. This is mainly aimed at the streaming market where most people use Windows.
Can you link us to your microphone arms please? They look pretty nice and i would like to pick one up
It's the Rode PSA1.
You can see my review at ruclips.net/video/amPjrrbMjRs/видео.html
Is your mic the shure sm7b?
Yes.
CORPSE EXPOSED
I'm not sure if I'm missing a step but how would I go about muting myself in game so that my party I'm playing with cant hear me? I have gone to my faders and set up my channel 1 which is my mic and chose "Mute to Voice Chat" as my mute option and it mutes me from my party and my viewers on stream. Anyone have a solution? Thank you!
Can u do one for ps5
do you no any good sites to get some good samples from? If you do that would be great
Not off the top of my head. Just search for "mp3 sound board clips" and similar search terms.
Thank you
So this thing is a sampler, audio interface and a mixer all into one? So I won’t need to go and buy all these I would just need this device right here?
Yeah. That's the selling point of this. It you're a solo RUclipsr, it offers a lot of functionality you might want.
If you don't need the effects etc, I would recommend a dedicated audio interface instead.
Thank you so much 10/10!
hello if i plug a microphone through a 3.5mm jack so it sounds just noise you don't know what to do with it?
It's difficult to troubleshoot that as it could be your audio settings on the software or the microphone. Ideally, you want to use an XLR mic.
do you run (LINE IN) so you can play guitar with a line 6 POD?
So it's basically VoiceMod, but expensive.
dude i press the sample button but it never records. is this a bug or do i need something?
I suspect this is a software configuration issue. Hard to say as it's not something I experienced myself.
Also what interface do you use?
My main audio interface is the Zoom F8. It's an old audio recorder but still works well.
how would i use this in games to troll?
The accent had me so engaged lol
Can you setup the profanity button to auto detect swear words? Or do you need to press it all the time?
I am not aware of any way to do it, but I can't rule out there being software for this.
i use a usb mic and Type c headphones. Ive been shown how to set it up and it doesnt work. I've wasted £330
This isn't designed for a USB mic and type C workaround. Even using a blue yeti mic is less than ideal.
It's designed to be used with an XLR microphone and 3.5mm headphones.
@@KevinMuldoon Everyone ive asked said i can get around it using a ground loop isolator for the headphone, But cant work out how to set it up.
Yeah there are workarounds, but it's not perfect. I'd still always recommend using a good pair of 3.5mm headphones.
@@KevinMuldoon Yeah Id love to get a decent set of headphones, I just can't afford them right now. I know it's going to sound rude. But do you mind possibly helping me over discord? I really don't want to feel like i've wasted the money on this thing
I don't offer personal support. I simply don't have the time.
I will say, however, that you don't have to spend a ton of money on headphones for monitoring.
but my microphone is beeing connected with a USB cable. Does that mean i cant use my microphone with the GoXLR audio interface beacause i can only plug-in a XLR cable?
It's designed for XLR mics, but you can use a USB mic if it has a 3.5mm jack (it's a workaround).
Got one of these and I literally can’t figure out how to use it at all 😂. I have to choose my headset for the playback or I can’t hear anything. Essentially making the goxlr a paperweight on my desk because there’s no input from any controls on the device
It has potential, but has many strange restrictions and the software isn't great.
@@KevinMuldoon yeah I decided I’m going to get one of the two wireless headsets that are known to work because I can easily find info on it haha…
bro can this work on a phone for tiktok and you tube live streams using phone
It's overkill for phone streaming in my opinion, but with the right cables it will work.
bro any video for connection
No that's not something I covered.
Cool
is he scottish?
Do you have to have aux cables plugged into the back? I’ve seen a video where a guy had them in but I noticed you don’t
I never needed to use an aux cable myself. It would only be necessary for routing the signal to a mixer or something (or connecting something like a blue yeti into it).
How do connect it to phone to video
How did you get the Homer Simpson on it ? Great video
Thanks. It allows you to import audio samples.
Yes where did you get the samples from ? Or are they on the GoXLR
@@BOT__IBaba It comes with some example audio samples, but I downloaded some audio for my tests. You'll find a host of free audio/MP3 samples online 👍
Hi, can you tell me if this table works with my headset? Sennheiser hd 598, hug from brazil
Yeah it should be fine 👍
how can i use my GOxlr with a creative soundblaster G6? because when i put my headphone ( v-moda crossfade m100 Master) the sound is TOO quiet, with the G6 the sound is so much better..
I found the same thing with the GoXLR. The headphone amp is pretty poor. You can still run your headphones through another headphone amp via your pc.
@@KevinMuldoon I have the beyerdynamic dt990 pro and these are 250 ohm. But the v-moda are only 32ohm, so do you think it doesnt work with my beyerdynamic?
@@eyocs_ I'm not sure. I haven't tested them, but higher impedance normally requires more power.
@@KevinMuldoon ok thanks for the reply😉👌 I also have a yamaha mixer with an aux input and I think, when I buy the goxlr, I will connect the output with the Input of the yamaha mixer and then I plug my headphones and my speakers in it, so I can hear the sound with normal volume.
Btw great video!👌
Hi I have question can I record voice whit this device and software? Or I need another software for this?
I believe it only works with their own custom software.
@@KevinMuldoon okey then can you offer this kinde of software to record?
The company develops and releases it 😁
How did you connect your wireless headset to the mixer? I'm really unsure if i should take it because i don't know which gaming headsed might be compatible to the go xlr
I always go wired when streaming so it's not something I've tried, however you should be able to just connect to your wireless headphones in Windows.
can i connet this to steelseries sonar ?
I'm not sure. It's not something I've tested myself, but I do know from experience that many audio apps don't play nice together as they both want to control the same inputs.
@@KevinMuldoon oh ok
omg. i. love. your. accent.
Haha thanks.
hi am getting a goxlr ina few months but my speakers for my pc use optical port will the goxlr still work with it since the goxlr uses usb
The usb connection is to connect the interface to your computer.
You'd have to connect the optical port to your computer or use an adapter.
@@KevinMuldoon ty for the advise many thanks
You're welcome.
How would you go about connecting the goxlr to a gaming console and a pc? I have seen a video where you use the input and output and optical jack and send all three cables to the ps4 to be able to talk and hear game chat as well as game audio. I want to then be able to send all this to a pc from the goxlr and send the mix to the stream. Would i just connect it via usb to the pc and it send everything to the pc
I'm not sure. It's not something I tried.
So this is like a soundboard and a voice changer ?
Yes. It works as an audio interface too.
I cant get my sounds to play back for the life of me
Does the GOXLR have any onboard memory that lets you forgo the software once you have it set?
I don't believe so.
@@KevinMuldoon Thanks for the reply. That's a a Dealbreaker for me.
Although KickedTripods behavior in general also did that job on its own.
this is only work with xlr? or i can use with my rode nt usb? sorry for my ignorance :D
you can connect with Rode by using a 3.5mm headphone jack
Scottishhhhhhhh!!!!!!! i did my first degree in Glasgow and missed this Scottish accent. Congrats, very good demonstration. Thanks for sharing.
AHH nice. Which university did you go to?
@@KevinMuldoon I did my first Degree in UWS and second degree in Strathclyde. The 3rd Degree i did it in England in Birmingham University. I have the best time and memories from Scotalnd.
@@astasuleo that's great to hear. I did my mathematics degree at Strathclyde and then did my post graduate at Glasgow Caledonian.
Happy you had a great time.
how do you setup speakers to this or would you plus right into the computer itself?
Speakers can be run through this if you wish. I've never used speakers with an audio interface so I'm not sure what's the best setup for that.
I'd love to get one of these in order to gain more control over my audio and also have the benefit of monitoring my mic.
I'm currently running my Shure MV7 via USB. My DT 1990 PRO's are connected to my Topping A50S amp / D50S DAC.
I suppose getting the GOXLR might affect my current setup? I can't simply hook this up into my AMP / DAC and
get the same performance, right?
My hedphones are 250 ohms and need sufficient power. In other words I still need my AMP and / or DAC.
Is it possible to include the GOXLR into my setup?
That's the main restriction of USB. With an XLR connection, you can easily plug your microphone into a host of mixers and audio interfaces (obviously, USB mics do have their place).
@@KevinMuldoon MV7 supports XLR too
Oh nice. I didn't know that. Best of both worlds 👍
How Do I Get The App
It's available on their official website.
can it work with a mac usbc
They haven't added support Mac OS support for their app yet.
@@KevinMuldoon Alright thank you!
Can i use goxlr with mic bm800
If it's got an XLR connection, it should work ok.
Could you please share the preset for that accent?
Preset = Scotland 👍
i love scottish people
What kind of microphone could I use for this device?
It's primarily designed for an XLR mic, but you can use a USB microphone such as the blue yeti using a workaround.
@@KevinMuldoon you mean like with an adapter?
The workaround is to use the headphone out port of the blue yeti and then use it to feed it to the mixer as an input in.
@@KevinMuldoon I see. I have a 40-year-old microphone from Sennheiser that uses the XLR prongs to connect to and from the microphone.
To switch profiles do have to use the software, doesn't look like any on board profile switcher.
Yeah you need to use the software.
@@KevinMuldoon Just bought one today and i cant get the sound to come out of the monitor speakers and use the goxlr volume controls :(
how do you make it to where you can talk in gamechat or discord while using the goxlr in a trolley manner?
Trolley manner? I'm not sure what you mean.
You will need to define your microphone on your computer as usual. For example, in discord.
Great review man! I opted for the Mixcast 4. Now put another shrimp on the BOBBY!
Nice. I hadn't seen that before. Looks like a competitor to Ride's podcaster solution.
How are you finding it?
@@KevinMuldoon It arrives today so I'll let you know how much better I like it over my Yamaha MG10XU. Thanks again.
I'm still using the Zoom F8. I would like something like this, but I really don't need it as it's just me haha.
So Im trying to get into streaming and bought this and can I use this in game? Like can I use the pitch with fx on my gaming computer and as well as going to the stream audio? Sorry if that doesn't make sense but can I use it or make it to where I can do this on both computers.
Yes it will be applied to your main microphone. So if you're using the same microphone for both gaming and stream audio, FX will be applied to both.
@@KevinMuldoon Okay thanks!
You're welcome.
awesome Video man! Thank you for the walk though
You're welcome John.
Anyway to use a headset that uses USB? I have ARCTIS PROS and still want to use the Steelseries softwareand RGB while also having it connected to the GOXLR
It wouldn't work with a USB headset. Even a USB mic requires a workaround if putting the 3.5mm headphone cable in as an input.
@@KevinMuldoon RIP my £200 steelseries headphones then
If you're going to use this, my recommendation is an XLR mic. That's the optimal setup.
@@KevinMuldoon I have a Schure MV7, just don’t feel like spending more getting another pair of headphones and a Amp to go with them
If it makes you feel any better, I don't think the GoXLR is worth the money. Once the novelty of the effects fade away, you're left with a basic audio interface with poor software.
Very detailed explanation Kevin. I'm considering switching from the Rodecaster Pro 1 to the Go XLR so this is a pretty useful video. Thanks for sharing.
You're welcome. Unless you really need those effects, I'd say the GoXLR would be a major downgrade for you.
@@KevinMuldoon it's only a temporary thing until I can afford the Rodecaster Pro II!
Ahhh. Yes that makes a lot more sense. The Rodecaster Pro II looks quality.
veryyr nice accent
what is that black rod between the boom and the mic?
It's a horizontal pole I had to hold my overhead camera and boom.
What desk are you using?
I have a desk from IKEA (can't remember the name of it).
@@KevinMuldoon can believe you responded that quick lol thank you!
You're welcome 👍
I think o know the basics but how do you shut it off with out unplugging it
There is no way to do that. It's bizarre that there isn't a button or switch to turn it off.
I love your accent
If only this thing had balanced output and didn't require bus power to function
best scottish accent
does this work with the Steelseries Arctis 5?
That's a wired mic so will be fine.
I know this is an old video, but I hope you realized that you can turn off the auto launch on windows start up
Was that available at the time when the video was published?
I don't recall that being an option.
@@KevinMuldoon you should be able to go into your task manager, hit the startup tab, and then find the app in the list. There is a status column that will say enabled/disabled. You wanna right click on the app and hit disable
Oh right. Yeah I know you can disable apps manually through windows. I thought you meant through the app itself. There wasn't an option for that before. 👍
If you restart your pc after making this change and it still happens, then I guess it is possible that the hardware is telling the pc to open the application (which would be a little strange). If that’s the case, there is no fix. I get mine tomorrow and can try it out.
It's been so long since I've had it that I can't remember for sure. Hopefully they've improved the app 👍
What does "line in" mean?
Also called an input.
Is this the solution to a quiet background to my gameplay? I have a big problem where my controller is too loud while gaming and my mic picks up all of it.
I also have premier pro but i really havent been able to find a fix to that, really dont know what all big youtubers do to fix this.
A dynamic microphone won't pick up background noise in the same way a condenser microphone will.
What are you recording with? OBS, for example, let's you apply filters to remove background noise whilst recording.
@@KevinMuldoon Well im just using a hyperx Quadcast s that i bought recently.
I dont really stream like that, i only like to make videos as of now but im getting alot of complaints on my controller sound.
Ive tried adding various effects on premier pro and even went as far as muted all the parts where i dont speak. I feel like there is a much easier way than that
AHH yeah that's a condenser microphone. I'd recommend a dynamic mic instead so that it doesn't pick up background noise.
Or you'll need to remove the background noise during or after recording.
@@KevinMuldoon Do you recommend any dynamic mics in the 100 dollar range? If so, i can probably save up for one since i recently bought this one mic that i have.
Are you sure the dynamic mic will help reduce the clicking sounds?
Thank you! :)
I'd check out some dynamic mics from Rode and Shure.
There's some great reviews on RUclips about them. Definitely check some of those out.
The Shure SM58 is good for the price, but you'll need an audio interface as it's XLR, not USB. I'd generally recommend an XLR microphone long term anyways as they're more flexible and less prone to problems.
Does the effect work during a discord call?
Yes the main microphone can continue to use effects whilst doing calls etc.
Does this work with macs
No, I don't believe so.
I seem to be having issues with my shure sm7b connected to my golxr, i keep getting static noises coming through. Not sure if it is to do with a faulty xlr cable or potentially a faulty mic. i feel like its a grounding issue since when i hold my boom arm with my hand the static seems to go away. any ideas how i can fix this? thanks!
p.s what xlr cable do you use? going to be getting a new one to test if this is the issue
Make sure the XLR is connected directly to the mains and not via an adapter. If not, noise can be picked up.
I found with the GoXLR is that out of the box mics sounded poor and you had to use the suppressor etc to tidy things up.
Thanks for the reply. I have just tried plugging my GoXLR to the mains rather than using the plug adaptor and the static crackling sounds are still coming through from my mic :( Waiting to receive a new XLR cable to see if it makes any difference. is there a specific way you have grounded your microphone? because as i said the static goes away if i wrap my hand around my rode PSA1 boom arm so i'm essentially grounding it. at the moment my boom arm is clamped onto the side of my desk.
@@vei yeah it could be the XLR cable. Hopefully that resolved the issue.
I've had one cable get messed up through wear and tear.
@@KevinMuldoon I found the issue, my tp-link powerline adapter plug that allows me to have Ethernet in my room was giving off really bad interference that my mic was picking up. i unplugged it and boom, the static noises were gone.
That's great. Glad you got it working :)
Is the beep only 1 second long or can you hold it for as long as you want to beep? great video btw
I don't have this anymore, but I believe you can hold it in.
@@KevinMuldoon just wondering, why don’t you have this anymore?
Whilst it was a cool gimmick, there were too many problems with it.
It was by far the worse audio interface I owned at the time, I wasn't using effects that often and the software was a pain. Audio quality was significantly worst than other solutions I had.
I can see the appeal of this for others, but it just didn't fit into my setup.
do i need a cloud lifter still
I still used mine with it as I felt it improved the signal.
Do you plug your headphones into the goxlr?
You can if you wish. You should be able to route audio through windows too.
@@KevinMuldoon can you still control the headphones through GoXLR if it’s plugged into the computer not the mixer?
No. If it's connected to your pc, you control it through your pc.
Thanks
This may be a great product, but blaming tariffs for a 25% increase in the price made me take this one off my shopping list. It was a tough sell at $399, it's impossible at $489.
