@@spoiledpoorboy apparently, you run an aux cable from the line into your pc and go into your sound settings and listen to the audio through your usb headphones.
The only thing stopping me from pulling the trigger on the Mini for right now is the fact of the issue with the app/software not saving the settings that you've applied past app closures & or PC restarts, reboots or shutdowns. 😞 😒 However, with that being said, if at some point in 2020 they were to roll out an overhaul or update to the app/software which solves the aforementioned problem I'd buy one in a heartbeat. 😄
Wait what? That's not an issue at all. They have profiles for this very thing. Settings save. Have since I got the big one in March, and same applies here. Not sure where you got that.
I don't like having headphones on my head all the time, they give me headaches. And I get hot easily so during the summer I'm sweating which makes headphones very gross
Hello, my friend, I have a HyperX microphone, but I did not reach the required sound, and that it is clear and pure like the one you have. Do I need a sound card or a recording program, including Isolate Note
Thanks for the review. A few questions: 1- Do I need to have additional phantom power for the condenser mic or this unit take care of it? 2- How to setup this with both condenser mic and arctis 7 mic? 3- Speaking of arctis 7, so basically chat mix can be done directly on this mixer rather than the built in one?
@@EposVox Thank you. Shortlisting this for my next buy although just need to make sure I can use this to setup to use condenser mic for the stream and headphone mic for the in-game chat.
Hi@@EposVox , I have burning desire to find out the answer to my question and wasn't successful by Googling nor asking so far. I need an audio interface/mixer for my xlr mic and I really like the little brother of the goxlr, which is called the goxlr mini. (Fits well within my budget and takes up less space, etc) but the manual of it does state that the phantom power only provides a 24 volt punch as it draws power from the USB of the PC. Knowing that I have a safety belt of gain with a cloudlifter like the CL1 would make me feel at ease, but I'm unsure right now whether the 24 volts would actually be able to power it, also unsure whether a pluged in monitoring mic would further cause issues or any performance decrease when it comes to the performance of the cl. Would you be so kind to confirm the validity of my fears or dismiss them?
I don’t understand why the decided to limit the goxlr devices to one xlr jack. Due to this I’m leaning toward getting the Rodecaster pro especially since they have the built in filters per channel. I might not need 4 microphones, but I typically need at least 2 microphone inputs.
probably a stupid question but can this be used as an amp/dac? I'm looking for one device that can power the 250-ohm headphones I have and have mixer capabilities to try to save some cash.
Hey! You mentioned you use studio monitors with the goxlr. How do you do that? With a splitter on the headphones jack to create balanced outputs? Other setup? Thanks!
I was reading the specs and for me the biggest let down was the 24bit/48khz. I know the market they were aiming for but they would have opened up an even larger market if they would have done 96khz or 192khz. Since they are having manufacturing problems and the queue is very long it is all a moot point and a MOTU M2+DBX 286s will have to suffice.
So I have the Logitech G230 headset which sounds spectacular both mic wise and headphone wise, but the ONLY thing I want is to be able to turn them up more while listening to music with them. So I'm not sure if this can do that or if you can tell me anything to simply just do that, cause I have all settings at max but I heard there's some sort of hardware that can up the max volume or whatever.
I ordered the GoXLR mini last week and this video was great! current setup is a Procaster -> DBX286S -> UMC202HD -> Headphones & Studio Speakers. Would it be possible to route the GoXLR mini into this audio chain, to have added control as well as speaker output, and hardware voice monitoring on the UMC202HD?
You could take the 202's line out into the line in on the mini. But that'd get pretty ridiculous, you'd possibly run into USB driver latency issues as described, and most of the functionality of the mini would not be utilized. Would make more sense to replace the 286s and 202hd outright
@@EposVox I appreciate the reply! All i'm worried about is that I'm gonna lose de-essing from the dbx286s + zero latency voice monitoring and speaker output from the 202hd. I guess it's still possible to use the DBX282s -> goXLR mini for additional tweaking and de-essing, before entering the goXLR. Do you think that would be a worthwhile chain to have audio wise? I dont see how I could use the 202hd since it's an audio interface connected through usb and the goXLR also is connected through usb.
@@agsoren For audio channel control and stream deck like exprience you can use something like VoiceMeter + MIDI Controller like APC Mini 80 USD. If you gone GoXLR Mini route, you can use subtractive EQ as means of de-essing.
Uhh it looks like my Yamaha AG03 and Voicemeeter had a baby :D And that could be a valid alternative for my setup, but Voicemeeter has VBAN which is super convenient for dual streaming PC setup which I currently use
up to this point i thought i was the only one using an AG03 (with VAC tho). on topic: agreed. also, it mostly depends how well-versed you're with software and how much value the 100$ difference hold for you.
But if I stream music, what should I get? Something that gets the same adulation from you, but from the perspective of someone capturing acoustic instruments and vocals
i have a condenser mic connected to a phantom power box. is it better to keep the phantom power and add the XLR mini or remove the phantom power box? what Will be best?
Awesome Video! Currently using the GoXLR for streaming but recently my friends on Call of Duty Modern Warfare keep telling me that they are getting an echo on their end but I dont hear anything on my end. In the routing area I only have my Mic routed to chat and to sampler. I've disabled everything in sound control panel other than the GoXLR . I just got new 250 ohm headphones and am looking for a DAC/AMP to power a mic + the headphones. I've been looking at the schiit Fulla 4 recently but they're out of stock in europe. Would this also function as a good AMP /DAC to use for gaming, or is it really just a mixer? :)

Hey Adam - Super review... Ready to pull the trigger but i would love to know if it's possible and how to add Pre Recorded Sound Clips / Intro/Outtro to a recording with the Mini? Thanks
EposVox that works with the mini, it doesn’t seem to have a sampler at least physically on it. you mentioned a folder Debating on this one! Would be nice to be able to put a 2nd mic via XLR for guitar, looks like it would have to be done via 3.5mm I also only use my mic and system audio, no discord/party chat (though having separate volume for alerts is nice, supposed to have that in OBS but it doesn’t seem to be working great for me) I also use speakers!
Hi, I'm considering one of these for voice recording because of one of the EQ and Compressor. Does it typically have a better preamp than a Tascam interface?
TVperson1 yeah definitely better then one of those, the best way to choose between the mini and the regular is one do you have enough money for the regular GOXLR and do you need the sampler and voice effects, if you don’t care about them get the Mini, both have the same pre-amps that are great, got my mini about 2 weeks ago and I’m pretty happy with it
14:52 What is the small pop filter called that you're using on twitch stream? Are you pairing it with the Rode Podmic? May I please have the name to that pop filter please?
Yo, Mr. Vox, huge fan of your channel. I'm trying to develop a career in Radio and Voice Over, so (in all honesty), your reviews are really helpful when it comes to equipment. Would you consider doing a review of the Shure SM57 dynamic mic? It's normally a guitar and drum mic, but some people do use it for Voice Overs with a degree of success, would love to get your take on that.
I'm learning a lot about video recording by watching your videos, but it's at this point making me (more) aware of how much I don't know. What I do know is audio recording of vocals and guitar into my UAD Apollo Twin MKII Quad (with Console software and various UAD plug-ins), aided by a UAD Faderport, with outs to my studio monitors. I've checked on the UAD boards and just generally googling, and haven't found anything about using this set-up for audio and integrating it with video. Do you know if this is possible? Thanks!
Glad I saw your video about the Soundcraft Signature 12 MTK before these came. These are nice, and different, so can't directly compare, but still, it's so good with so many capabilities.
It's weird having a steady hum on an audio product review. Stops when you go into the post-production addendum stuff though. Might want to use headphones when editing. Just a thought.

The only thing stopping me from pulling the trigger on the Mini for right now is the fact of the issue with the app/software not saving the settings that you've applied past app closures & or PC restarts, reboots or shutdowns. 😞 😒
However, with that being said, if at some point in 2020 they were to roll out an overhaul or update to the app/software which solves the aforementioned problem I'd buy one in a heartbeat. 😄
Wait what? That's not an issue at all. They have profiles for this very thing. Settings save. Have since I got the big one in March, and same applies here. Not sure where you got that.
@@EposVox Huh my bad dude I may very well have misinterpreted some information somewhere along the way.
My apologies. 😄
You mention that you try to avoid using headphones as much as possible, and use speakers instead. Is there a reason for that?
I don't like having headphones on my head all the time, they give me headaches. And I get hot easily so during the summer I'm sweating which makes headphones very gross
Hello, my friend, I have a HyperX microphone, but I did not reach the required sound, and that it is clear and pure like the one you have. Do I need a sound card or a recording program, including Isolate Note
Thanks for the review. A few questions:
1- Do I need to have additional phantom power for the condenser mic or this unit take care of it?
2- How to setup this with both condenser mic and arctis 7 mic?
3- Speaking of arctis 7, so basically chat mix can be done directly on this mixer rather than the built in one?
1 - it supplies phantom power
2 - you can only use 1 mic at a time
3 - yes it will do this
@@EposVox Thank you. Shortlisting this for my next buy although just need to make sure I can use this to setup to use condenser mic for the stream and headphone mic for the in-game chat.
Hi@@EposVox ,
I have burning desire to find out the answer to my question and wasn't successful by Googling nor asking so far.
Thumbs up specifically for the Paul's Hardware shoutout :)
Thanks for changing your hair @epos. So distracting. 😂 but what’s up with your stickers on you be quiet case?
I don’t understand why the decided to limit the goxlr devices to one xlr jack. Due to this I’m leaning toward getting the Rodecaster pro especially since they have the built in filters per channel. I might not need 4 microphones, but I typically need at least 2 microphone inputs.
probably a stupid question but can this be used as an amp/dac? I'm looking for one device that can power the 250-ohm headphones I have and have mixer capabilities to try to save some cash.
Ryan Victoriano that’s the same question I have!, did you find out if it does work as a amp/dac? And how many ohms can it push?
Ferdinand _Rw still have the same question
I was wondering what your thoughts on the Rodecaster Pro are? I was thinking about either that or the goxlr.
Hey! You mentioned you use studio monitors with the goxlr. How do you do that? With a splitter on the headphones jack to create balanced outputs? Other setup? Thanks!
just bought the mini,, this helped alot thank u
also off topic but ur setup is hella nice it looks so cozy
Hi, what microphone did you use recording this video? I can’t find that info in the description.
Dude, what type camera are you using? Your stream looks absolutely bananas.. Very helpful as well.
@@agsoren
For audio channel control and stream deck like exprience you can use something like VoiceMeter + MIDI Controller like APC Mini 80 USD.
If you gone GoXLR Mini route, you can use subtractive EQ as means of de-essing.
Uhh it looks like my Yamaha AG03 and Voicemeeter had a baby :D
And that could be a valid alternative for my setup, but Voicemeeter has VBAN which is super convenient for dual streaming PC setup which I currently use
You could use NDI plugins to send Video and Audio from one PC to another over your network :-)
up to this point i thought i was the only one using an AG03 (with VAC tho).
on topic: agreed. also, it mostly depends how well-versed you're with software and how much value the 100$ difference hold for you.
I'm finding it nearly impossible to find a GOXLR at anything less than double the normal price. Are there alternatives? What's the next best option.
Can you use a voice changer with this product like can you do voice changing affects with the mini?
But if I stream music, what should I get? Something that gets the same adulation from you, but from the perspective of someone capturing acoustic instruments and vocals
If you don't Stream, I guess you don't need the Broadcast Stream setting right?
i have a condenser mic connected to a phantom power box. is it better to keep the phantom power and add the XLR mini or remove the phantom power box? what Will be best?
Should I buy this or should I buy a cloud lifter for my focusrite solo gen 3?
Awesome Video! Currently using the GoXLR for streaming but recently my friends on Call of Duty Modern Warfare keep telling me that they are getting an echo on their end but I dont hear anything on my end. In the routing area I only have my Mic routed to chat and to sampler. I've disabled everything in sound control panel other than the GoXLR . I use it with OBS and it is the GoXLR is the only device that is enabled. Any help would be great!
I would love to see a feature added where the GoXLR would automatically go into sleep mode when windows shuts down.
How do you turn off the Goxlr Mini though? When I shut off my PC, the lights go haywire...
5:50 just got a shure sm7b anjd someone recommended this! Going to attach my beyerdnynamic dt headset as well.. great review!
UPDATE: WOrks perfectly!
King Solrac dude ! It Works without fethead? And How much Ohm does your Beyerdynamic have?
@@guentherdiesau7542 250 OHM, and no need for a pre amp, fethead /cloud filter.. join the GOXLR Discord and they can help you perfectly !
@@KingSolrac Hi, this is a little late. I have some beyers (80 Ohm) with a focusrite scarlett solo, does this power them sufficiently? I produce music too so I need them loud. (also looking to upgrade my mic to shure mv7) so your combination relates to me :D
@@imortalXsoul if his 250 ohm headphones are powered then yours should be have more than enough
Does the TC-Helicon GO XLR MINI run 250 ohm Headphones?
Hello, just wondering, between the GOXLR and BabyfacePro, if the soundboard and on-demand voice change isn't a big factor, which one would you recommend?
Can I use my HyperX Cloud Flights with the goXLR??
You can’t do voice effects with the mini which is weird. They should have replaced that bleep button with a voice effects preset button
Except getting the cost down meant removing the DSP chip entirely
EposVox yeah that makes sense
so my question is does my microphone and headphones connect to the goxlr even if it's connected to my pc by USB?
Hey Adam - Super review... Ready to pull the trigger but i would love to know if it's possible and how to add Pre Recorded Sound Clips / Intro/Outtro to a recording with the Mini? Thanks
Yep! Just drop em in the samples folder
EposVox that works with the mini, it doesn’t seem to have a sampler at least physically on it. you mentioned a folder
Debating on this one! Would be nice to be able to put a 2nd mic via XLR for guitar, looks like it would have to be done via 3.5mm
I also only use my mic and system audio, no discord/party chat (though having separate volume for alerts is nice, supposed to have that in OBS but it doesn’t seem to be working great for me)
I also use speakers!
So I have an Astros mixamp ,can I buy this and have the same functions? Like lower my friends voices so I can hear the game more?
Hi, I'm considering one of these for voice recording because of one of the EQ and Compressor. Does it typically have a better preamp than a Tascam interface?
TVperson1 yeah definitely better then one of those, the best way to choose between the mini and the regular is one do you have enough money for the regular GOXLR and do you need the sampler and voice effects, if you don’t care about them get the Mini, both have the same pre-amps that are great, got my mini about 2 weeks ago and I’m pretty happy with it
@@CJ-uh8bk Thanks, I'm only thinking of the Mini. I haven't fooled around with Voice changers for a while and I don't really need sound effects.
Just a thought.
ok so i have a pc and play on my ps4 aswell stream on twitch. i use to use my usb headset to talk on ps4. but since i bought a microphone to talk to my stream. i now have to connect my headset to my microphone to hear gameplay through obs. how can i use another mic to talk on console to friends while streaming to my viewers at the same time? sorry im kind of new to all this
Hey, very good video! I see you saying this is best for under 400, but if you had to pick between this or your Soundcraft mtk, which would you go with? i'm in the position
Depends on what your needs are. They serve pretty different purposes overall. If you JUST need a few virtual audio devices, this is the far better option
@@EposVox Thanks for the prompt reply!! I think what I'll do as the GOXLR bigger one is just £235 currently, I'll give it a go, then if it doesn't suit me, I can just return to Amamzon. I
s there a simple way I can listen to music so I hear it louder than my viewers can? I already have a 'safe' level which all can enjoy, but sometimes it'd be nice if I could hear it louder at times?
Is it possible to do a video on how to setup and use both units together with a 2 PC setup? I have the mini and the GoXLR in a 2 PC setup, but I am not sure I am using it correctly. only getting the stream PC audio to OBS, but not the gaming PC.
My struggle with the GOXLR is they are just a USB interface with fancy software, it has nearly no analog features, so it's just VST for people who don't know audio stuff
I mean, it's not VST. It's hardware DSP processing.
It's not an analog mixer, no.
@@EposVox I would love to see a video about VSThost software and various digital mixers like voicemeeter, which can be used to reach similar functions as the GOXLR, not as simple but much more affordable/free
Even if your not a streamer will these work with the senheiser HD 660s? I'm trying to buy those headsets with a mixer for it
Voice meter potato is working for me perfectly and was easy to setup, I have my mic and three virtual cables on inputs on my gaming pc for google, discord and my game streaming to the same hardware inputs on my streaming pc which is my laptop, my laptop is also touchscreen which makes it super easy to control the volumes almost as if I had a hardware mixer. I then have 3 virtual outs to my gaming pc to hear music, obs alerts and other sounds from the stream.(Currently on amazon in Australia the goxlr mini is 400 Aud or 310 Usd which is a bit out of my budget), btw my name is meant to be pewpewimanepicgamer but it hasnt updated yet.
What did you do about the audio lag time?
Im thinking about getting this but I stream multiple consols (i play on ps4, Xbox One and switch) and it does not have multiple optical in, could i just run a 3.5 mm from my gaming moniter to the line in on the Go XLR? im assuming it would work the same way seeing as you are just using a different input method?
I have a steelseries USB headset. Would a GoXLR be possible with a usb headset?
Hey man so i picked up an re20 and a go xlr mini because i needed good audio and you kept praising it. I'm having really hard trouble setting it up. Can you please help me or give me your settings
EV RE20 is an awesome mic. Every radio station I've worked at since I was 16 years old had one.
I think they could have just included power/data usb splitter/small hub specifically to use those more power hungry features.
Would always rather have a wall wart than that tbh
@@EposVox Yeah probably. I think they could have made it possible to run either from wall/from usb power. I think I saw some devices like that, but I guess it's not that easy to do.
What audio interface or gear would you recommend getting if the majority of use is RUclips tutorials running into my camera but with some zoom calls or live RUclips for streaming with audio running into my pc?? Thanks!!
If I'm looking for a mixer like you mentioned having a 3:10 that can do the multiple inputs/outputs over the USB is there a specific term to look for when shopping mixers?
How long of an XLR cable do you reccomend in general? Im trying to figure out between 6 feet or 10 feet for a Mogami Studio cable.
I don't get it. The thing has 1 xlr port, so how do the other input get in? Over USB? You control it from the same PC that does the streaming? So what do you do in the mixer within OBS? Sorry for the dopey questions.
Yes, I explain how the other inputs work
could anyone advise me on an upgrade on microphone to go along with the GoXLR? the 2 i have been looking at are Podmic and Rode NTA-1?
currently using Samson Q2U with basic interface. *never used a condenser microphone*
Hi there.
I take meditations etc over zoom and want to go from usb to xlr. I found it hard in the past to get the right volume levels to go with my voice and wonder if this is something that will work as I would like to keep my voice as rich as possible.
I also plan to do voice overs too.
Best wishes ☺️
I put my headset pc38x in jack in front goxlr mini and in the game the shooting and the movement, I heard a disturbing echo, and the followers were hearing it to?? help
Was going to get a mini...but then they're price gouged to the price of the full size. So guess I'll just get the full size
Can you chain these if you just want a digital mixer with say 8 faders instead of 4? Can the software handle 2 of them?
Anybody know what that RUclips led box is called? The one above his camera? And where I can purchase one? Looks dope!!
are you able to use this not just for streaming, something like just talking discord or game chat, something like the astro a40/50 voice chat mixer?
Yup!
I think removing the DSr isn't that big of a deal. Hardly any noticable EQ difference.
What microphone was this video filmed with?
BTW. Red VS Blue is awesome!!!!!!
Me: *Buys Behringer USB audio interface for new Q2U that Epos recommended.*
EposVox is a video released the next day: 1:27
I'm not sad, I just love the timing. :D
I mean, you weren't buying it for a mixer, and you weren't paying for a GoXLR Mini anyway :P
@@EposVox True... but we all know I'm going down a rabbit hole by jumping into the audio pool and in 6 months I'll be getting one of these anyways. LoL.
If one doesn't care about the voice options, do you think that the extra EQ and de-esser are worth the $250 to get to the full? Or is the Mini just perfectly fine for that audience?
Not worth it.
@@EposVox Thanks for the quick response! Your review was much appreciated.
Thanks for watching!
So. Is it multi purpose? I need it for podcasting with 2-3 guests. This seems to be the best for streaming only. Agree?
It only seems to have one XLR input, which could be an issue with multiple guests.
Agree! You need the Rodecaster Pro my friend, 4 XLR inputs, on board effects and recording to microSD all built. in.
