- Alberta Premium and Canadian Club Chairman's Select 100% Rye (sold in US as Canadian Club 100% Rye) are two budget-priced 100% rye whiskies that we like.
This video takes a look at the two products, where they are made, how they are made, and our review and rating of both.
With social distancing shutting down the Soaring Pig to guests, we've not done a review in some time but decided to put a proper review together, albeit it using proper social distancing in our own unique way.
We hope you enjoy the whiskey reviews and other alcohol- and cocktail-related content and we hope you will subscribe to The Soaring Pig channel.

I want to say something about this video, but I'm of two minds about it. I do dig it, though. Informative and fun.
I see what you did there.
Alberta Premium is my go to.👍
It's a great product, and we also recommend their Dark Horse while you can still get it.
I agree.
LOL ! You are a madman ! --------- love the review. Will buy Lot 40 Rye to diversify.
canadian club 100% rye is one of the best
Hah! The Century 21 makes another appearance!
I'm glad you're getting some mileage out of that bottle.
The jug is now officially empty, and the empty is placed in a place of high honour at the highest point in the Soaring Pig.
This is by far the most relatable, honest and realistic whiskey review I’ve ever seen. “It’s horse shit really” thank you for saying that. Up until this very moment I thought something must be wrong with my nosing ability.
Bravo!! I couldn't tell the difference either! I generally mix it with an ice cube and either a dollop of either diet Pepsi or diet Ginger Ale.
It seems like 100years ago now but they used to make a 100% 10 year old rye in Alberta sold in a wood box and called "Alberta Sipping Whisky " . They changed it by adding a dollop of corn whiskey which made it overly sweet and called it "Alberta Springs". It might be worth trying if you are in Canada.
Trailer Park Boys picture in the back.. nice!!
Thanks. One of my favourite things in the bar. It has a crushed Freedom 35 beer can in the frame as well.
@@TheSoaringPigReviews Oh that's very cool. Love the Trailer Park Boys. Gotta try the Canadian Club 100% Rye soon also, sadly the Alberta Premium is not available where I am (Québec).. but some other great ones are! I've heard a lot a good things about Lot No. 40 Rye
@@drax14QC Lot 40 is also a great whisky.
@@drax14QC Lot 40 is excellent. We should do a review on t sometime.
@@TheSoaringPigReviews Alberta Premium is finally available in Québec !
Lol nice video, long live Alberta Rye
Thanks. Yeah, it's underrated stuff by many because of the affordable price.
Now you have 237 subscribers keep going your hilarious.
Thanks for the kind words.
im hearing this is the exact same whisky, i mean exact, same distillery
Both are made by Alberta Distillers, owned by Beam-Suntory. The significant difference is Alberta Premium is aged a minimum of 5 years, Vs. a minimum of 3 years. The Canadian Club stuff gets shipped to Ontario and bottled there.
good to know. Alberta Premium here in NS is about 30 CAD while the Canadian Club Rye is two or three dollars more....
@@novascotianinfj I was just in Halifax for a short bit this week. Got to try some of your craft beers. Alberta Premium here is just over $22 usually, sometimes as cheap as $19.
