Genuine question here. Why do so many Canadians and Americans seem so afraid or unable to use manuals? I understand an automatic probably helps those who travel huge distances since your countries have such vast landscapes, but don't they teach you how to drive a manual during your driving lessons? It just makes more sense to me to learn how to drive the more difficult one and then be super comfortable in an automatic rather than learn how to drive an automatic and be completely lost when you get into a manual. In the UK if you pass your test in a manual you are allowed to drive both manual and automatic cars, but if you pass your test in an automatic, you are not legally allowed to drive a manual.

Eventually, you keep playing the game but you get bored. One of the things people usually do is drive like regular citizens. In which, in their case would probibly help.
The reason I believe it does not help is that it gives kids the belief that they can drive well. Thus they turn out like Klyne. It is not as easy driving as it looks or seems in a game. I am 15 years old (I've just started driving) and I can testify that this is so. I had confidence that I could drive because I've driven other vehicles. A car at higher speeds is much different and dangerous.
It's not hard to drive.. Unless your going like 100mph. Which there is no such speed where I live. But interstate driving is only 75 to 80. It's not bad. All you have to do is respect the rules and you will be fine.

Yea, Even my dad says first to drive a normal car, get a feel for it then get a sports car in my case a Supra. I drive my dad's car which has 190 hp it gets up and goes. Imagine driving a 600 hp car on your first go thats a recipe for disaster. They should really not start with a 400 hp car especially if its RWD xD Not a good idea also kills the confidence of the drivers. My brother did this and thanks, my dad, all the time. He says if I did not listen I would've crashed the car a few days after getting it. It makes sense in the end. Imagine driving a Honda Accord for the first time you'll build a lot of confidence then transfer that confidence to a higher HP car.

Yeah some of them at least have practice from GTA or whatever. I played Ultimate Driving for a while and I learned pretty much every traffic law. That and with my parents' help. I'm 15 and I'm probably going to start driving next year so fingers crossed I'll be better than these people.

@@mixrable1212 12 city 2 highway/autobahn 2 nighttime and 3 (we call it landstraße idk) are mandatory, but most ppl do about 40+ lessons total before they attempt their test for the first time :D makes it expensive and it takes a long time, but at least it makes our roads safer ig :D

It's interesting how Highway driving is so scary for so many people (including me when I first started driving), but it's actually the most boring and typically least stressful type of drive for me now.
You can see that by this point in the show, they have fine-tuned their bad driver selection to have one of each bad type: the slow driver, the speed demon, the distracted driver, the hopelessly confused, the nervous wreck, the road rager, the rebel who thinks the law doesn't apply to them...
In other seasons, they've totalled a Dodge Challenger.. a Chevy Camaro.. a Cadillac CTS-V... This year it's a 2015 Dodge Charger R/T. First episode, and the front end is already ripped off.
For everyone wanting to see these drivers in a manual transmission car... They used to have an episode each season/series with a simple test that required good control of a clutch. But it generally resulted in the clutch being burned out before the last person even got to the car. (One was a guy jerking the shifter too much, breaking the linkage) The main reason they stopped doing the manual test on the show, is because manuals are a rare thing in Canada now. You can't really blame a person who's driven for years, for not being able to drive a manual car, when it's likely their first time using a clutch. They've grown used to working one pedal or the other. Not using two pedals at once.
It hurts me to see that they damaged that mustang gt. I own one and I love it. It looks good, handles amazing, accelerates quickly, sounds good, extremely fun to drive, affordable and some what practicle. I know it has a bad reputation but that doesn't make it a bad vehicle.

@@mixrable1212 12 city 2 highway/autobahn 2 nighttime and 3 (we call it landstraße idk) are mandatory, but most ppl do about 40+ lessons total before they attempt their test for the first time :D makes it expensive and it takes a long time, but at least it makes our roads safer ig :D

For everyone wanting to see these drivers in a manual transmission car...
They used to have an episode each season/series with a simple test that required good control of a clutch. But it generally resulted in the clutch being burned out before the last person even got to the car.
(One was a guy jerking the shifter too much, breaking the linkage)
The main reason they stopped doing the manual test on the show, is because manuals are a rare thing in Canada now. You can't really blame a person who's driven for years, for not being able to drive a manual car, when it's likely their first time using a clutch. They've grown used to working one pedal or the other. Not using two pedals at once.
