    I’ve done offroad, human, and animal search and rescue for some 6 years now and had a 2 door jeep on 37s prior. Needed a truck I could cruise around Moab and also haul drywall, lawn equipment and more. Lot of folks ask about the 2.7 vs the 5 and I picked 2.7 because forced induction does better at elevation though I do have to pay more for 87 octane here since that’s mid grade in Colorado. So far the truck has fit all the needs I’ve needed it for. It gets good fuel economy, drives it self on the highway (kinda) , off-roads well, hauls stuff, will tow a side by side and it’s comfortable.

    i wouldve bought it with the v8 because resale and reliability is miles ahead. Especially since they figured out tuning these SBSC with the coyote has become a go to for the guy that basically wants a Mustang amd needs a bed or wants a 4wheel drive mustang. they are only 4500lbs and identical truck but v8 David van voris just bought to do a build serious with tbe new gen4 coyote.. gen 3 has been done and guys have made over 1200whp and run 8s in the 1/4 on stock sealed coyote Midnight performance has tons of them out. there boost and fuel amd you have a supercar hypercar / kill modified cars easily with a stock sealed engine. no heads no cams no pistons no rods no opening the engine unless you want to go built motor which then you can make up to 2500hp on factory block. basically hellcat weight but you can actually make these handle like shelby does they have actually become the best selling vehicle through shelby. you can go street or offroad build with 750whp to 1200whp for way less than a trx or raptor or raptor R 40 50k for truck 15k for fuel system tune and boost nice wheels and suspension for track or offroad 10k. and going really big power go built trans

      gen 3 Coyote isnt really much better I've heard in terms of reliability. The 2.7 is a stout performer and has been largely reliable over the years. If you want ultimate power, sure get a different engine, but for this owner the 2.7 sounds like the perfect setup in that regular cab.

    Nice truck. Good run thru the ranch. A little more elaboration on the running gear would have been helpful. I went to the Ford site and am seeing the performance suspension stuff he added essentially gave him a 2~2.5 inch level? And that's all that was needed to fit the 35's ? And the factory gear ratio was ???
    As we mildly mod. these rigs not far beyond stock, and factor capability at 20% truck & 80% driver, his mods and tires did very well for giving the truck some good trail performance. Don't have to spend a ton to mildly modify to get to some nice off road destinations (but an arm and a leg for a rig purchase these days). As it is now and add a winch up front.....bam! Not sure if these newer fords are the same as 10 years ago with that huge void space up front behind the bumper...... But on my stocker 2013 with 2.25 leveling and 1" block in the back on street radials..... Rough Country makes a cool hidden 9500lb winch kit for the Fords, that's an easy peasy clean factory look install. This vid was helping me evaluate going to 34" bfg's (285-70-R17) on factory wheels. Thanks!

    I ordered a similar truck in 1987. Ford XL regular cab/Long BX. Black/Red. 300" F.I 6-cyl/5-speed. Lockers Frt & Rear. Quad shock Front suspension. Ford was having trouble producing automatics so I got a substantial discount because I ordered a manual. Total delivered price $9,755. That’s pretty much the same set up I have on my 08 STX regular cab. I bought some factory Raptor wheels & Nitto Recon Grapplers that measure 34” tall. I’ve been trying to build a new F150 with the same configuration on Ford’s website, and he’s right. His configuration is hard to come by. You can build an XL & add the high appearance package, 103A. It would look just like his XLT on the exterior including the wheels & factory tint, except no chrome grille, and the 5.0 liter V8 is the only engine option. MSRP for that configuration was $45,605.

He just makes it feel awkward the whole time watching. He doesn't need the Locker as must as he was told. That course is almost effortless for that truck. Well Fitted!

    With the 2.7, I'll bet this smaller truck really scoots. I've seen many tests, including here on TFL, that shows the 2.7 being quicker than the 3.5. I seem to recall, though, that the 3.5 can be more more heavily performance tuned.

    • @plmn93
      @plmn93 Год назад +3

      They are pretty close 0-60. More than that or with a load the 3.5 pulls away. And the 2.7 is limited in payload and towing. For me though, the 2.7 has been ideal. Better economy than most midsize trucks with the space and comfort of a full size. Significantly better performance, average 4.5 MPG better economy, and nearly identical capability compared to my previous 5.4 V8.
