Props to Ford for giving you an actual off-road course. Nice job TFL & Ford!
Kudos to Ford for setting up that course. That's a REAL off road course.
I love when company’s actually make their offroad courses truly test the limits of the truck! Good on Ford 👍🏻
I agree that was definitely more difficult than what the manufacturers usually set up.
Agreed.
This isn't a course it's how bad our roads are
The course is carefully groomed to make the truck look as good as possible . They are not putting anything that the truck won't be able to handle .
@@kylecrawford3487fact !!
The XL Off Road is a good package to offer. Work trucks don’t need ALL the stuff Tremor adds.
I have a Tremor and if they had the XL Off Road when I ordered, that's what would be sitting in the driveway.
The limited slip up front is nice, but almost never needed. XL is a great buy and very nice. It has all you need.
@@davidsauls9542 that and you can probably add that if you wanted
Their both work horses is just that one is extra proteined for more palate driving 😄
I need that tremor it looks good on my concrete drive.
@@iwanaGoFast2010need the tremor to go to the grocery store lol
The f250 6.7 HO tremor has to be the BEST-looking truck on the road. That thing is a BEAST!!!!
Even the F150 Tremors are sick!!
the slightly older pre facelift ones looked great, but I hate the new headlights
The new headlight make them look like trucks with downsydrome

Could be the toughest manufacturer off road course I’ve seen in awhile.
Could be.
I’m impressed with how challenging Ford made their course.
They always do.
Andre is the nicest guy- sending it up a rock pathway and "sorry!" lol. You can hear it in his voice he sort of felt bad.
Another props to Ford. That was an actual off road course harder than most will actually put a new truck through. Very fun to watch, and actually shows the trucks capabilities.
I was really impressed seeing that behemoth of a truck go up that uphill rock part. Those rocks looked like no joke, on a pretty serious incline and it took it with a from the factory setup.
The engine made a bigger difference than the tires when you went through the rutted up spot. The 33's and 35's both had enough grip. The XL just had an extra 750 pounds worth of engine in the front. A lot of people don't realize the difference weight makes
I'd go for the XL 6.8 (405 hp 445 tq) just for simplicity purposes. I'm pretty modest and think 405/445 is pretty good for an XL.
That’d be a cool package on the Ranger XL, too! Maybe a rear locker, factory leveling kit, 4.10s, skid plates, & bigger aggressive tires.
My XLT Ranger Sport 4x4 has all those options except the 4.10 gear ratio (My 2007 Mustang had that installed aftermarket by me) I can confirm it makes for a badass Ford Ranger😈
I also added a MBRP dual exhaust, Hood mounted Ditch lights and Raptor grill lights and let’s not forget the performance blue tow hooks😅
@@joshuaallswang8016 that sounds like an awesome truck!

Once you go Heavy Duty, you'll never go back.
"You don't need 35s or 37s" people literally drive all around Africa, Australia, and from Alaska to Argentina on 33s. We know this :)
Yes but they aren't driving a vehicle as big as a HD truck. Bigger the vehicle the extra few inches def helps.
@@Mr.Miles2435s are almost too big, but they look good on that 250. I wouldn’t want to be traveling around the world in a HD truck
Having an extra 2-3" of ground clearance is never a bad thing, though.
Driving Hilux and Rangers
@@skrufacefrom 33-35 amounts to 1” ground clearance because the other inch is above the axle.
I ordered an XL Offroad SuperCab two months ago...due to arrive this weekend!👍👍 Now I'm really excited after watching this video. Thanks for the comp, Andre!
How is it? I’m looking at a truck to buy right now, looks interesting to me
How do you like it so far? What cab and bed length?
When I was young, 50k was a "super car" price, Porsche, Ferrari, etc. Now it's a "value" price for pickup truck. How things have changed...😟
Your old
Andre loves base model of road trucks! And so do I!
My work truck is a 2016 F-350, 6.7L, and very very similar overall to that package. We added the winch so it sticks out a bit more but it's made it up a lot of sketchy roads to tower sites on top of mountains.
Ford should offer the Torsen as an option with the XL Off-Road.
Thank you for the comparison. The XL off road package to me is like a “baby tremor” that is affordable.
For all the people on here saying that you dont need 35-37" tires. Just remember that in a full-size truck that your breakover angle is highly dependent on the length of your wheelbase. Most people run 37" tires on Gladiators around CO for offroading as the wheelbase is longer than my Ford Excursion. I only run 35" tires on my 2 door TJ as the breakover is fine as the wheelbase is miniscule. If I buy a Raptor, I would get 37" tires as the breakover is worse with 37" tires than a TJ on 33" tires. That is why an old Land Cruiser does fine on 33" tires. Much shorter wheelbase...
I absolutely love this comparison!! Good job Ford and TFL. And its nice to see the front limited slip in action on the Tremor !
Honestly for the price the XL offroad is a pretty good deal. The tires alone are worth that, plus the skid plates, vent tubes, and locker make for a great package.
I wish you could just simply pick the options you want instead of all the equipment groups ford has.
Absolutely agree. It's like I don't want to spend 70k on a truck because it has all the stuff I don't want. You want the larger radio well you have get 8k dollars of options just to get the radio
production nightmare
Then your wait would be years instead of months. But I know what ya mean
Sure wasn’t a problem 30 years ago when I special ordered a couple of new trucks in 89, 95, 96.
@@joshc606 that stuff is usually added by humans when it rolls down the assembly line. A worked grabs the radio for that build sheet and sticks it in and bolts it down. They all have the same connections it's just the matter of which one gets plugged in. It's really the fact that they don't let you get certain options without going to the 10k technology package or whatever.
I have the 2023 XL with the off road package in the 6.7 power stroke. It's freaking awesome! I love the basic truck with the tire upgrade to improve performance and appearance. Plus couldn't afford higher trims, so the price point was perfect
How much did you pay?
@@patriotarborist711 65k was so hard finding them around here wasn't much negotiating
There was a time when most 4x4 trucks were manual everything and maybe a limited slip rear axle. Day 2 mods were shocks, suspension lift and tires. It was about driving skill, picking the correct lines and understanding the capabilities of your truck. I feel that experience and skill set is going away quickly. Nice to see the new stuff and how far technology has come but give me a 1973 K-20 with a 4-speed manual, a big block with lock out's and I'm good. It's nice to be old.
You are right, I believe they don't enjoy the newer trucks as we enjoy the old ones, is more skills and adventure.
Those rocks were challenging. I am surprised FORD designed that course, normally automakers go little easy.
Andre I have the 2021 Tremor and love it, But that new XL package has all you need. It sounds like a great buy.
I went with a new F250 xl fx4 crew cab long bed with 7.3 Godzilla, 4.30 gears and 48 gallon gas tank. I sold my stock wheels and tires, got some black 20” wheels and 35x12.50 cooper rugged trek tires and added a 2” lift. All in im at $54,000 and my truck is awesome. I have lots of ground clearance and it just rips through mud and snow. I love the rear locker. But my truck is still a terrible off-roader because its a rough riding heavy duty truck and it’s HUGE. I saved almost 40 grand by not getting a high end F250 with all the options ,and with the money I saved I got a Polaris Ranger XP 1000 North Star with heat, ac, and a plow. That thing is awesome off-road and on trails
YESSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Love this video. I’m probably an outlier but I LOVE work truck level trim! Thank you for showcasing this awesome truck. I don’t need/want chrome, leather, or any fancy BS. Give me rubber floor, cloth seats, and a cup holder for my beer. Nothing else.
I have the F150 Tremor. I found that TC and TTA are great, however not at the same time. Using both on downhill switchbacks, when the TTA engages, it essentially cancels the TC and you lurch forward unexpectedly. Learn your tech and gizmos before trusting them with your safety!
I like this Ford engineer. And I like the difficulty of this off road course. Props to Ford- good job.
Great video, I would like to see a long term truck just as Andrey described at the end!!
Excellent offroad course. Now I want to see a base model truck with open differentials try that course. Some of us (myself included) bought trucks with open differentials because we didn't know any better. Some of us simply couldn't afford the extra goodies. Knowing a properly equipped truck will run rings around a truck with open differentials on a course like this, I still want to see what a modern base model 4x4 with open differentials can really do.
This is a construction site truck. Looks good for that task! Makes sense to show it in muddy conditions.
It's a real shame they force the four door .on higher spec models. Personally the extended cab two door at the higher trim levels is all I've ever wanted. I loved my two door Jeeps and my long bed pickups, I don't need four doors and the added length
You are assuming people actually use trucks for work. This will be for fake suburban truckers.
Yeah, if they would offer the Tremor across the different cab types and bed lengths, like the other packages, then I'd consider it
Glad to see Ford come out with the XL Off-Road. I personally don’t need everything that the Tremor offers. The XL Off-Road has everything I need.
I own the Tremor you showed in this video, in Carbonized Gray, and I really enjoyed you showing how some of its features that I have not used yet work. Such as the Trail Turn Assist.
This is excellent. Seriously rough off rd courses to make trucks the most durable & efficient. Very impressive!
I love it. As soon as I can get out of my Ram lease I'm buying one of those XL Off Road pack trucks.
I’ve got the 2023 xlt f350 tremor so far I’m liking it. Nice you showed the operation of the different modes I haven’t tried the trail mode yet.
Great video. Like the value of the XL off road with a gas engine. Great on Ford for putting together a course that is actually challenging.
one thing i noticed recently while looking at trucks. the new super duty is lower than the 2019 and older. so the tremor gets you back to that previous height. so i picked up a 19 250 and slapped 2023 tremor trakeoff wheels on it. looks great .
Did you replace the Power Wagon, or just another steed in the stable?
@@pacificwarrior7679 more on that later
What's trakeoff wheels..never head of it
@@legion1630 That's the factory wheels/tires left over when you do a wheel/tire swap !!
I’m drooling over that Tremor! 🤤
Andre thanks for wheeling for us. Xl would be my pick with the gas option. Wish ford would have power on board standard on the xl.
Impressive performance by the 2023 Ford F-350 XL Off-Road Truck!
Nice work Ford and TFL! I know we have been pushing our 23 Tremor off road vs our 21 Raptor!
This package is fantastic, it's not locked down to a crew cab short bed like the tremor. Having the ability to configure the truck you want while getting a good off road package is huge. Regular cab long bed F350 XL 6.7 HO and propower on board is the perfect configuration for me.
nice shots of both trucks! Great shot of the trail turn assist.
nice shots of both trucks! Great shot of the trail turn assist.. nice shots of both trucks! Great shot of the trail turn assist..
Hats off to Ford for actually making a legit off road course to show off their trucks…I can’t think of another truck manufacturer that has done that recently. And Ford if can keep the off-road package available…sales are gonna crush Ram and Chevy. Not everyone needs a Powerwagon.
Testing like this is why trucks outsell cars. Besides the cargo advantage. This is just fun. I destroyed a stock 93 ford 4x2 by doing jumps and off roading that it was NOT set up to do. I PAID for it but it was an absolute addicting blast. As well as an occasional trip to the local landfill. Nothing but an huge pile of dirt. The tires were the same Firestone tires which lost tread while on the Ford Explorer. They worked incredibly well on my pick-up for years.
Love the look of this truck and Ford has knocked it outta the park with the engine options
Props to Ford for giving you a challenging course, instead of just making it really easily so that way it would never show their trucks getting stuck. That's awesome.
Love me the tremor, but my pocketbook is screaming the other one.
Really? My pocketbook is screaming for maybe a low mileage 2014, lol
@@lukediehl1210 😂
I’d love that 350 xl off road package on the regular cab
Lariat Tremor w black out/color matched and a 7.3. No diesel. Light enough for the trails and offroad and still pulls 16K. Perfect for us!!
We just sold a 2023 F350 XLT with the high output diesel and Tremor package - sticker was $107,000cdn - no leather, single zone climate, no power pass seat. Makes the XL Off Road seem like a bargain!
I see a lot of those in Vancouver and Calgary fully loaded up. People keep buying them even at 100k+ CDN so Ford will keep making n selling them at that price.

😂 CAMERA NINJA KASE LOL... FIRST U SEE HIM THEN YOU DONT ... THEN POOF HES BACK AGAIN ... CAMERA NINJA 👏👏👏 ... HAVE A GOOD DAY EVERYONE ✌️
Its sweet they offered this on a base model, the XL is probably comparable to my older XLT anyways. However priced out its still 85000 Canadian....
I have the 6.7 diesel on an F250XLT off road package. I had stock tires and was getting stuck all the time in both deep snow and small mudholes because the diesel engine is so heavy. So I upgraded the tires and put 33x12 inch off road tires on it and was still getting stuck all the time because the front end sinks due to the weight of the diesel engine. I then put on 35X12.5 Cooper STT Pro off road tires and have never been stuck since. The Tremor is absolutely gorgeous but throw 35x12.5 mud tires on your f250/350 and you'll have the same result. No level or lift necessary either.
Finally a interesting video to watch
Added reasons why I Love Ford Trucks.
i love my 2021 7.3 f250 xlt has rear electric lock diff its all i need its a great work truck and can get you there and back
I have the exact setup up glacier grey 24... beast and a beauty
Wickedly cool trucks! Trade your Colorado in on the XL. I agree with your assessment. The Tremor takes things to the next level, but you don't need that. lol Logging companies might, but the average consumer, not really. And yes Andre, in the rock garden, it was "a bit rocky" your observational skills cannot be matched. lol
Why? Andre don’t want no super duty death wobble.
"Folks, don't try this at home." My instant thought was, "Why not, I have a Tremor! Then Andre said the same thing!
Ditto! Love my 22 F-250 Tremor (with 7.3 Godzilla)!
Got 33” wild peaks on my superduty. Happy with the performance. Next truck will have 4.30’s and I’ll run 35s
They should have the locker in the front and a torsion in the rear or front and rear locker
Nice trucks, but I question the reliability. So many recalls on Ford trucks. Plus there aren't any in the dealerships where I live in Southeastern Virginia.
There's recalls on every truck, even the typically "most reliable" trucks
11:39 See how the temp gauge itself actually changed when switched to the detailed display? That means the non-detailed gauges are likely dummy gauges that only show if temps are normal or not and if within normal temps then they likely don't move.
Would love to know what air pressures Ford ran Offroad for each of the trucks, diesel and gas, since the weights are different between the two.
Great choice Andre. The gas motor will also shed a lot of weight in the nose, making it more off road capable
Hey Andre one of these days why don’t you try a Dually and just see what it can do in those conditions. Thanks for the video.
That is the same size tire the 2004 Nissan Titan with the off-road package came with. Plenty of sidewall there for a nice ride.
Pretty large difference in diesel vs gas front weight. Which greatly affects off road ability. An extreme example is my 92 dodge with little 318. It’s an off road beast. Weighs nothing and just floats around on top of everything. My duramax… not so much… I really like it better when comparisons are 1-1 but still thank you for the video. And neat to see the new options
Could do more indethy video on different between xl off-road, fx4 package, tremors package.
Guys, great video! Nice test, even if we consider "ford guy care" 👍😉
If I was going to buy a super duty this xl would be the one. I hope a lot of them sell so I can snag a used one down the road when I get a bigger travel trailer.
When is Andre going to get a 4x4 Lada to test all these trucks against?
Would be a fun addition to some episodes
I just got the 23 Tremor 7.3. I got $71k in mine. XLT premium package, so far worth every penny. Highly suggest you at least text drive the Godzilla before paying for a diesel.
I really like the F250 Tremor and the color too.The only thing I don't like is the engine choice. For that reason I'm going with a F150 Tremor. I hope they keep that color for 2024.
Both trucks are pretty cool, but man I cant imagine off roading those giant trucks
It would have been nice to have compared two trucks with the same engine to isolate the differences associated with the XL Off-Road and Tremor packages.
The tremor is my dream truck.
Just closed the deal on a 250 Lariat/Temor yesterday with lots of options. I had order one but the dealer offered me 3k below MSRP on this one and I thought that was a great deal. Can't pick it up for a little while longer but I am looking forward to it. It was expensive as heck (81k out the door w 10yr/100k warranty). I lose some sleep over that price and locking myself into that payment for the next 5 years but I plan to keep this truck for a long time. I will finally be able to tow my 14k lb trailer without a worry, which I have never even been able to haul fully loaded before because of my previous truck. Nice review.
Awesome comparison and test track! So they say it can ford 30 in of water, Just curious where would they have ran the vet lines up to??
I’m really happy with my RAM 2500, but if I had to replace it, it would probably be an F-250 with the 7.3 gasser. (Towing 12,000 lb 5th wheel).
Same here
Why the gasser and not the diesel?
Have a 21 250 Tremor. Never drove strait and was a horrible ride. 8000 miles later, after an alignment, shocks were shot and would not drive strait. so i tore all that ford stuff off and I put a Carli leveling kit and 37” tires. After that, I would have never bought the Tremor. Have the build videos on channel if you are interested. Love the truck now. One truck out of many but that is my story, Cheers
I’m on a Tremor forum and almost EVERYBODY has the same issue with the trucks not driving straight. The consensus is it was the Tires. I changed to Ridge Grapplers after only about 3k miles and it was a night/day difference. I have not done a lift kit, but my factory shocks are shot. They are pure junk! I’m about to replace mine with Bilstein 5100 series. Oh, and my truck is a 2020 7.3 Tremor and it runs & rides great now, other than the shocks.
@@DanMar5858thanks for your feedback as well. That 7.3 is a beast. Tires were really bad, right! Do a caster shim kit if you can, that will really help as well. Cheers
Damn that’s a good lookin truck for an XL

I have an F150 Tremor. If someone needs a work truck you probably need the XL/offroad. If you have the means and want the Tremor Badboy then I know which one someone should go for.
what were towing and payload capacities on each vehicle?
People on this thread apparently forgot all the Ford torture test courses as well as off road 👍 Ford!
I would love to take my Ranger XLT, I am pretty sure it would handle that coarse just fine, I have a few mods :)
I LOVE the new super duty’s… however, that “trip turn assist” screams rear end problems in the near future of ownership…… personally I’d opt out of that if it is a possibility to do so….
Wilf nit showing a 6.7 Powerstroke as well. Seeing how it has a tremor package with an addition insane amount of much needed torque in a lot of these situations. Trust me my 22 6.7 tremor shits on rock climbs like that one.
Can you get cloth or power cloth seats with the xl off road package? I wish ford would let you custom order one with a nice interior and base exterior because people customize the outside anyway
