Come on General Motors, allow this regular cab short bed to be optioned to higher trim packages.
RST with a 6.2 would be amazing in a modern version of a classic short wide. Do you have any idea how many Gen X dudes are running around? We have Money!

The way I understand it, they can't. EPA dictates that a short wheelbase must get higher MPG. This is why practically all the trucks offered now have a crew cab, which extends the wheelbase and allows lower MPG. Yes it sucks. Hopefully with the electric trucks this will be non applicable.

I've read that US EPA laws work against short wheelbase trucks here.
From Wiki: "Starting in 2011, the CAFE standards are newly expressed as mathematical functions depending on vehicle footprint, a measure of vehicle size determined by multiplying the vehicle's wheelbase by its average track width."
"CAFE footprint requirements are set up such that a vehicle with a larger footprint has a lower fuel economy requirement than a vehicle with a smaller footprint."

I did buy snow tires and put bags of sand in the back for better traction. Helped a little but still not acceptable, after that any vehicle I bought was 4 wheel drive. I just got about 5 months ago a 2016 LTZ with extended cab and 6.5” bed. It also has the 6.2liter V8. Extended cab is kind of a waste for me since it’s really too small to comfortably seat an adult. I would have loved a crew cab with the same bed but couldn’t get that so regular short cab with 6.5 bed in an LTZ would have been SICK! Thanks Dave for all the awesome videos and Thanks for converting me from being a Ram Guy to a Chevy guy.

I have the same truck (with 100,000 miles) and love it. Don't need to haul passengers normally, but can easily. Four of us have driven to LV from Tucson without an issue. So you sit a little sideways, but no big deal. Back seats usually has a lot of my clothes and gear, so are great for that too. Trucks looks better as an extended cab than a crew cab, in my opinion.

The bolt and pickup are totally different vehicles, each with their own strengths. I’d own both. The bolt is a great daily and errand runner but it can’t do road trips or hauling like the truck can. The truck is great for hauling but gets lousy mileage around town and is harder to park and maneuver.

  • @lordrichard8184
    @lordrichard8184 Год назад +5

4x4 is the way to go for those trucks. I had a 2wd drive Sierra. It did ok in the snow but it got stuck a decent amount.
A trifold tonneau cover is a must have. They’re fantastic. Also get a bed mat to help protect the bed.
After having a regular cab as a daily driver I would always go with a crew cab or the double cab. This way you have more storage in the cab and can keep the bed empty for actual use.

And that’s not a base SV, it has several packages, loaded up nicely with features like dual air climate control and heated seats. I love Silverados (currently own a ‘17 LT double cab that I LOVE!), but if I was in the market for a new truck, it would be a no-brainer decision for me to opt for that V8 Titan instead! $40.8k for that?? My 19 RST crew cab 2wd with the 5.3 was less than 46k, and it had some options on it. Crazy how much those went up during the pandemic.

I agree. That should be priced no greater than $30k. Truck prices are insane, and that’s why they aren’t moving off dealers lots. Mfrs just got greedy. The average price of new vehicles sold today is $50k, out of reach for the middle class families who made car manufacturers the huge corporations they are today. Soon an upstart company will realize the vast potential market for family vehicles the middle class wants and can afford. Watch the Chinese will probably be the first to do so.

      A standard/standard work truck without even a V8?
It's a $25k truck. The market has lost it's mind. Stop paying $40k for these.
Let em rot on the lot.
Go buy a nice used Silverado and save $30k.

I was going to replace my car right before the Coof hit. I figured I'd start looking and buy something in May or June when prices started to drop. They stayed high. Decided to wait until the end of Summer. Prices were still going up. Wait until the end of the year. Prices were getting into the silly zone. I'd just wait and let the manufacturers and suppliers work out their problems.
Still waiting. Prices are at theft levels. I feel sorry for those that have to buy something new. I'm thankful I held onto mine. It's only problems are cosmetic, so I keep doing maintenance and it keeps driving. I guess I'll keep going until the wheels fall off or the market finally crashes back to reality.

What boggles my mind is that a dealership needs an allocation for a basic run of the mill pick up truck, a specialty car like a z06, I understand…boy do I miss the good ol days of 3 years ago when u ordered a car and it came in 2 months later

I could see buying this truck as a blank canvas but $40K is not blank canvas money. Gonna stick with my 2007 LT 5.3 RCSB until sanity returns. Honestly, I'd probably look for an F-150 RCSB Coyote before I'd go this way, and I've never owned a Ford.

I looked along time to find a shortbox 4D Chevy in descent shape and finally found a 2009 with a 5.3 V8 in it. Its a great truck. I would not even concider a newer one with that little engine in it. Ford doesn't even make a shortbow standard cab anymore so that was out of the question and the used ones are impossible to find. I won't by a Dodge.
