    Whenever I see a regular cab with an 8 foot bed I tell my son "look there, that's a REAL pickup truck", he thinks I'm strange but maybe someday he'll get it if he ever needs the utility of a truck like this.

    It’s amazing how far along the WT trim has came. That is a good looking truck and would easily be considered loaded as recently as about 10 years ago.
    Very nice build for sure. When I ordered my 2022 LT I didn’t realize the mirrors with the auxiliary lighting and power fold option was an actual option. I can just kick myself over that one.
    100% agree about the cab lights. And another low cost option that should just be standard is the HD Front Springs/Camper package. It’s $45 to get a better front axle rating and be rated for a truck bed camper.

      I have noticed that Stellantis has quite the overstock of trucks… Maybe they built too many? I haven’t had a new 2023 HD pick up in the last 8 months. I’ve also noticed they can only move them if they put huge rebates/discounts on them.

    Just blows my mind how much its cost the business to replace. 2004 $25k. For 5.3. 4x4.....its hard to believe $53k now ...😅

    Joe as always love the content and info you put out wish i had trusted my gut and got my 2015 undercoated everyone said not to you don't need it .well it needs it just curious on gvw on them up hear in MA they require a commercial inspection for trucks over 10,001 lbs and i suppose everywhere you need a medical card for just driving a 3/4 or 1 ton pickup just seams like so many grey areas. So how do you spec out a truck that requires non of that ? so what really changes in the gvw name tag on weight ratings is it just in name onlyso for example the 10k gvw has the same equipment as say the 10,650 gvw?

    • @truckguyjoe
      @truckguyjoe  Год назад

      Same equipment… But you can derate the truck to 10,000 GVWR. That seems to be the threshold across the country. I sell a lot of Express 3500 single rear wheel cutaway Box Trucks because they are 9900.

      The fender liners are not standard equipment on the work truck package. Some of my customers add them...others don't...I feel they create a trap for moisture and dirt/mud/salt..etc...kind of like a plastic drop in bedliner. I do have some purchasers that will have the rear wheel wells sprayed with Linex.

    • @pryme2013
      @pryme2013 Год назад

      @@truckguyjoeThis doesn’t even make sense, sorry. Where exactly will the liners “trap” moisture? I have a 22 2500 and added the rear liners. Couldn’t get the gm’s because they weren’t available anywhere so I went aftermarket. There is nowhere that anything gets trapped. What they will do though is provide chip protection which will lead to rust.

    • @truckguyjoe
      @truckguyjoe  Год назад +1

      @@pryme2013 The liner gets inserted up against the metal wheelhouse. Just like a plastic bed liner gets dropped in against the metal bed floor. You should see what is behind those liners if you remove them after a year. Dirt, debris, moisture gets trapped in there.

    Hey joe. On the fence about ordering an HD, do you think they will ever offer a 4.10 to compete with FORD and RAM? Do u think it needs it? Like the 4.30 with the Ford 7.3 GAS
    Excellent channnel BTW. Great dedication and Info!

    • @truckguyjoe
      @truckguyjoe  Год назад

      Maybe eventually they will offer the max trailering package for the gasoline engine along with the 4.10. I personally think the 4.10 would help with towing even though it has the 10 speed for this year… I am old school… I like a lower rear axle ratio to help get the load moving. First and second gear in the 10 speed are pretty low… But I always want a little more… I think everybody does. 2024 is the first year for the max trailer package available with diesel… It basically gives you one ton suspension on a three-quarter ton. But on the diesel with this package coming out the rear axle ratio did not change… No options… Looks like we may be stuck with 3.73 for the gas… And 3.42 for diesel.

    Man, 53k msrp on this? My 22 2500 crew cab w/t had a msrp of 51 and that’s with all these options plus the 5er package. Mine doesn’t have the chrome bumpers though or rear park assist, thankfully. Also dude, fluid film doesn’t eat the wax off. I can tell you that first hand.

    Can I buy a chevy silverado forty five hundred or fifty five hundred for personal use

    • @truckguyjoe
      @truckguyjoe  Год назад +1

      Absolutely! I have sold several loaded up trucks to customers for private use. One customer custom ordered a LT chassis...crew cab...4x4...6500...with a polished aluminum dump body. He uses it at his camp for hauling the family, firewood, and plowing the driveway to the cabin (driveway is 1/4 mile long in the woods...we installed a 10' Fisher V Plow and boy does that truck clear a path)!

    why not get a 3500 SRW?

    • @truckguyjoe
      @truckguyjoe  Год назад +1

      Great question! Historically I have sold this company Silverado 1500 4x4 Regular Cab V8's with 8' Bed. The 1/2 tons had enough payload for what they are hauling, and technically with the snow plow prep package, you can hang a smaller blade on a 1500. Considering the size of their lot, and for long term durability, it was only fitting I put them in a 3/4 ton for the sake of the larger frame, heavier front axle rating, bigger brakes, and the power needed to push a decent amount of snow..as well as a heavier transmission. If payload/tongue weight was a major concern, I would have put them in a SRW 3500. This 2500 has 3700lbs. payload, which met their needs no problem.

    I am concerned that the motor will buildup carbon on valves because of direct injection without port injection to wash valves. You seen any of them with carbon problems yet? All the early ecoboosts seem to have that issue.

    • @truckguyjoe
      @truckguyjoe  Год назад +1

      This 6.6 gas engine has been out now going on 4 years. The majority of my commercial customers from 2020-2021 have 100K+ on their trucks (box trucks, cargo vans, stake beds, dump trucks). I can not say that we've seen issues due to direct injection carbon buildup or oil burning issues. Believe me...they call me first before they call the service department. I agree that DI can be problematic, but on the whole I would say this 6.6 engine overall had been a good performer and reliable.

    • @truckguyjoe
      @truckguyjoe  Год назад +1

      Not sure what to say… I’ve used it on my 2001 Silverado HD regular cab for the last 12 years… Has been fantastic. Even though the Krown is there… You still have to do your due diligence and give the trucks a thorough cleaning every spring as well as throughout the winter. Also depends on who’s doing the application… Not all applicators do the same thorough application.

I agree wholeheartedly with you that you can’t beat the internal combustion engine and will keep my 2008 2500 6.0L for a really long time! Because trucks should be steel (for durability) and fueled by either gas or diesel PERIOD!!! And what’s with these electric tailgates??? Are we really that weak and lazy???!!!

    • @truckguyjoe
      @truckguyjoe  22 минуты назад

      In my opinion… I feel the 10 speed outperforms the previous six speed. The 10 speed keeps you in the correct torque band. I have towed with both of them.
