Have to agree with the OP. I don't see that stadium getting built al with all the factors working against it. First of all, they don't seem to have the money to build it. Then on top of that is on an 8-9 acre parcel of land? That's not how current MLB teams operate when considering new stadiums. They want a lot of surrounding land to build business districts to maximize profits. The A's can't do this with this land. It would make much more sense to build it elsewhere in Vegas just due to this. All the while Utah is breathing down the neck of any MLB relocation with 900 million of public funding already allocated for an MLB team. A site to build a new stadium with over 100 acres perfect to build a business/sports district around. Easy access public transportation that goes right to the site already. Also an ownership group already ready to make the purchase. I think this becomes another Expos/Arizona Coyotes situation. MLB buys the team and sells them. Maybe it's to a different Vegas ownership group with a different idea. All I know is that rendering for the Sydney Opera House in Vegas looks so Mickey Mouse. The capacity is a joke too. FWIW, TB faces a different issue. Building in St Pete is not going to change anything with their current issues. MLB in Florida just hasn't worked.

Now, the A's are going to be relegated to a bottom feeder franchise with no fan support. Mexico City is over 7300 ft above sea level - over 2000 feet higher than Denver. Pitchers will cower in terror over the HR’s and extra base hits they will give up!!! With normal OF dimensions, it’ll be a HR nightmare. If they move fences back to compensate, it’ll be a doubles, triples, and maybe even inside-the-park HR nightmare. Remember when the Rockies still played at Mile High and one of the power alleys was 390 ft? They still had very high scoring games!
Say the As send their team to London or Mexico. WHY IN THE WORLD WOULD WE SEND THE MOST POVERTY, LOWEST PAYROLL, no big name player, clearly intentional tanking team to represent the MLB. And why would London and Mexico want to see one of MLB's worst teams?
The Golden Knights are, as they say "Vegas Born" and people in Las Vegas bought into it. The Raiders already had a huge local fanbase in Las Vegas, but even so, other teams travel well for football and they have no real home-field advantage. The A's will be dead on arrival. Vegas has too much other stuff to do in the summer, so unless the A's put out unimaginable deals and discounts for locals (free parking, steep discount on ticket prices, maybe discounts on food/drinks) we're not going to show up to the games.
But not everyone can win. I do agree that it's time for the A's to win. But things have to click as well. Fans need to show up and u guys tax payers need to help fund a new ballpark
@@sirchi8731 No. ownership needs to care for their team for fans to want to show up. You create a good product to get sales, you don't expect sales before providing the good product. And ownership should pay for their own stadium. Oakland did secure millions in grants for public support of a new stadium, though. MLB wants a team in Vegas badly, and the a's never negotiated in good faith with the city.
I'd love for the Vegas move to collapse and the A's forced to stay in Sacramento and build a new stadium. It would not be ideal for fans from Oakland who (obviously) would prefer the team play in their old city BUT it is within driving distance of the East Bay.
The A’s picked the wrong time to get greedy. Attendance is down, people don’t care, the rules have been ruined, players are smug a-holes who only fight and flip bats, prices are too high, and baseball is dying. DYING. The A’s are just the first to notice.
The NHL bought into Vegas as the first franchise to arrive. The tragic event that happened before the first game. It's Vegas not anyone else's team coming from Oakland. The raiders are their own unique franchise anywhere. The A's are going to have to provide a winner or I think they will still have bad attendance.
Sunday games could start at 12 noon in Vegas because the temperature does not peak until 5-6pm so if they played 12-3 it might be cooler than a night game….
News flash. Most open stadiums in the US have hot weather. Worse, in some parts, you can add humidity. Only the Bay Area has those cool temperatures so, that is a non factor really.
It would be totally shocking if the A’s moved to Vegas, and even more shocking if they built and played in that stadium that they’ve proposed. It’s simply not realistic. Vegas has a higher likelihood of getting an expansion team than getting the A’s
That's probably what they're going to do so that John Fisher can get out of being the owner and somebody else is going to be in there this is a money play by the A's to Jenna revenue to get all that they can get out of it and make this team make the team worth something for a new ownership
Now that they’re closing down Golden Gate Fields horse race track that would be another option for the A’s to move in. It would still have a view of the Bay and they wouldn’t have to leave.
I agree with the fact that the new stadium's left field has to be more fan friendly oppose than having such a giant pandemic view of the strip's skyline. Meanwhile, our local social media informant, Vegas Pauly C(eeee) updated recently concerning the "delusional" Bally's ambitious financial wishes. They're struggling with other projects in other parts of the country and it's doubtful that this stadium project will come to reality.
I would venture a guess to say he wants those extra neutral site games so he can book 8 more concerts or whatever to double dip revenue wise without being mandated to put that towards the team or mlb revenue.
The Oakland A's have a fascinating history and are my 2nd favorite Baseball team. However, their ownership is greedy and self-destructive. The Giants play less than 20 minutes away. It looks like they will be stuck in Sacramento. Does Vegas even want the A's or even a Baseball team in general? This nomadic team approach opens up all kinds of doors.
It stinks man. As a Rockies fan (I know) I understand having an owner that does not give a crap about YOUR team. And that's what it is. People can say whatever they want but it's your city, you support the team, buying merch and tickets and they give you that back. I can't stand the Cowboys or when the Cubes owned the Mavs but you gotta respect those two owners in that they AT LEAST look like they absolutely love their team and fans. It sucks for Oakland and this historic franchise
I think salt lake is going to try and poach the A's. They have money and a site to build a stadium they just need to get a team to want to go to salt lake or Utah
This A's situation is like a bad joke that just keeps on giving 😑😑!! No wonder that the people in oakland aren't too upset anymore that they are gonna lose them.

It is not just London in the UK, but with regular season games in Mexico, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Philippines, Australia, and even China. Considering the long flights involved, the MLB teams desire to play a three or four game series abroad as the home team maybe in more than one of these venues. MLB teams wish to have that option and not be tied down to their minimum full season leases. Eight out of Eighty-one home games is not too much to ask, seventy-three homes games is still a lot of games. All of these other nations baseball fans desire regular season games that count, not exhibition games that don't... Of course, instead of eight home games, maybe three or four home games would make a great compromise for ALL of the MLB teams, not just the Las Vegas A's... As I recall London desired a certain team, but that team didn't desire to break their lease... You can't spread baseball worldwide with teams tied down to full regular season leases...
The only way this makes any sense is if the A's want to build a more statewide brand and play two 4 game series in Reno. There's no city in the US that makes sense for the A's to play "home games" in that isn't their own stadium besides Reno if they're trying to build a local and statewide fanbase. DG is right that the only other thing that really makes sense is international games. I think you'd have to go big in this case and do something that's gambling themed along with Las Vegas. So in that sense, something like Macau comes to mind for me.
I am thinking maybe Vegas falls apart. People are still mad about the money spent for the Raiders. I don’t think they want to fund another large project. MLB should just buy Fisher out and either contract or take control of the move. Sacramento might be a long term option but until MLB fixes the economic model nothing is really going to work. 😊
MLB will end up running the A’s like it did the Expos before they moved to DC. The A’s will end up staying in Oakland at the Howard Terminal site and Vegas gets an expansion franchise. Which is what both cities desires.
Oakland and Howard Terminal are all dead. The A's may be a traveling circus. But they will never call Oakland home again. And there is more people Las Vegas that are looking forward to the A's coming than you think. they will also make at least $ 20,0000 alone with sports betting there 1st year in Vegas. I bet the A’s end up in Utah. Utah government has allocated $900 M for a baseball stadium. The question is whether Fisher will sell to the Miller group or make the Millers a partner.
They need mass transit system, highway something
The A's can play in my basement. They're accustomed to finishing in the cellar so they would be comfortable there, there would be no rainouts and I think I could fit 15 or 20 seats in there ( if I move the washer and dryer) which is several more than they'd need given their attendence history.
The most successful baseball team in bay area history was the 72-74 A's. The best attendance in bay area history was the "Bash Brother" A's. The truth is that east bay baseball fans aren't that dedicated, they only go when they're winning. Also, the Giants have done everything possible to make sure the A's leave. They should be the San Jose A's, but the Giants blocked it when it was a done deal!
Vegas should vote no on this stadium
not even sure they’ll get a chance. the ballot measure failed to get on for November
@@JustinR316this will never get to November's ballot I wish people would understand that most things are not going to get to balance that's why they do these negotiations
I bet the A’s never leave Sacramento or somehow they are back at the coliseum next season which they need to man up and buy the coliseum and renovate it it’s a historic baseball site. I can imagine all the cool stuff you could do with the coliseum with the right ownership
It appears there is a movement where there will be many teams that nobody is willing to overpay for. Let's hope this mindset grows so teams and their rich owners will stop being able to blackmail our cities.
Amen, Rich. Amen!!!
A's will never move to Vegas
MLB approved it, and it seems despite these speed bumps it will happen.
The A’s are trying to become the Savannah Bananas. 🍌🐒
All of the MLB teams desire to play a home game series in London... Unfortunately most are limited with their stadium leases... English fans want to see games that count, not exhibition games that don't... Would you send a hundred quid for a exhibition game that doesn't count? If the MLB teams are going to fly over the Atlantic they may as well play more than one game...

The Bananas are funny. The A's are just a joke.
If someone comes to you with an investment opportunity but then tries to cut 10% of the revenue you might get from that investment, you should not do business with that person.
I grew up watching the A's and Raiders in Oakland. These past 8 years or so, have killed my love for sports. Both of these teams needed to be sold to groups connected with the Bay Area. Now, the A's are going to be relegated to a bottom feeder franchise with no fan support. The Haas family loved the Bay Area, and wanted to keep the baseball tradtion strong allowing the Giants control over the South Bay. The Giants shouldve returned the favor. I guess its moot now, but its like these sports leagues and franchises cant see the forrest through the trees scenario.
Can you please do a video showing how Ohtani knew about the gambling and MLB is covering it up so then don't have to put Pete Rose in the Hall Of Fame? Thank you!
Playing 9 games, or so, a season in Mexico City, would be the most obvious.
They still had very high scoring games!
fisher character is the poorwst billionaire ever.
The A’s need new ownership
It never cease to amaze me how incompetent the A's ownership group is. This is an absolute circus and becoming a black eye for the MLB.
Golden knights were expansion team so they built their own fan base. A’s like Raiders fans will have to travel to see their team.
Crazy how they won their first Stanley Cup in their first six or so years.
But I thought they were going to sell out every game in Vegas?? Why play 8 games somewhere else if you was going to sell out every game in Vegas
Hey, if they'll watch the Jags year after year they'll watch anything!
If they would invest on the team with good players then it wouldn’t be a bad idea. No one wants to watch a mediocre team
Las Oakcramento
Awesome suggestion!
Rebrand to the Chik-fil-A’s
I'm still hoping they stay in Oakland 😐
Keep the A's in SAC TOWN. Move the White Sox to Salt Lake.
The White Sox definitely need to move. Chicago doesn't need 2 baseball teams, and the evidence of fan support proves that.
@@tyandbrandChicago can support 2 teams. I do think it's kinda messed up that the white Sox are allready demanding a new ballpark
@@tyandbrand Chicago should have two teams. It's a big city and the chisox are a historic franchise.
White Sox are going nowhere
Indianapolis or Charlotte
They will probably just play those 8-10 home games away back in Oakland to elicit fan support
what's with the PCL these days? can we bring back the OAKLAND OAKS?
I'd love for the Vegas move to collapse and the A's forced to stay in Sacramento and build a new stadium. It would not be ideal for fans from Oakland who (obviously) would prefer the team play in their old city BUT it is within driving distance of the East Bay.
The A’s picked the wrong time to get greedy. Attendance is down, people don’t care, the rules have been ruined, players are smug a-holes who only fight and flip bats, prices are too high, and baseball is dying. DYING. The A’s are just the first to notice.
That Tropicana site can be sold to anyone, it doesn’t have to be sold to a baseball team
The NHL bought into Vegas as the first franchise to arrive. The tragic event that happened before the first game. It's Vegas not anyone else's team coming from Oakland. The raiders are their own unique franchise anywhere. The A's are going to have to provide a winner or I think they will still have bad attendance.
After this, I hope Las Vegas gets an expansion team instead of the A's, their ownership is a total dumpster fire.
This makes me like the 'Oakland A's' as a phenomenon even more, but the ownership and A's brand less.
The A’s players looked stoked to play in SD at Petco
It's one thing that John Fisher is a POS owner. But how is MLB brass allowing this shitshow to go on? I've never seen anything like this!
It would be totally shocking if the A’s moved to Vegas, and even more shocking if they built and played in that stadium that they’ve proposed. It’s simply not realistic. Vegas has a higher likelihood of getting an expansion team than getting the A’s
A’s ownership acting like they are the Yankees or Red Sox, and I’m an A’s fan🤦🏻♂️
What about the Oklahoma As? 😂
The U.S. A's
Ive been to day games in Sacramento. They were great. There are not that many days over 100 degrees during the summer.
Yeah right. I think Sacramento's record is close to 20 straight days over 100. I lived there for a while, it's hot.
The As are going to build the stadium, increase their value then Sell!
I believe Thats the endgame for the ownership
That's probably what they're going to do so that John Fisher can get out of being the owner and somebody else is going to be in there this is a money play by the A's to Jenna revenue to get all that they can get out of it and make this team make the team worth something for a new ownership
Now that they’re closing down Golden Gate Fields horse race track that would be another option for the A’s to move in. It would still have a view of the Bay and they wouldn’t have to leave.
That's it, Vegas isn't happening! Sac, they're yours to keep if you want them.
When does contraction become an option? Honest question.
just sell the team
Simple: move another team to Vegas. The A's can bounce between Sacramento and Oakland
The Las Vegas Stadium Authority board is slated to vote on this proposal July 18th..What if they vote no??
They won’t… the Las Vegas Athletics are inevitable.
The Jacksonville Jaguars of the MLB!
We don’t want them here in Vegas. We are a Dodgers town.
The current owner of the A's is terrible, all he cares about is the money. Just relocate the A's to Utah.
I'm from Utah. Hard pass.
it's probly b/c it finally dawned on them that once the novelty of new team wears off, fixed roof domes don't draw so well.
In an extremely hot climate like Vegas a roof is definitely needed.
Same goes for certain stadiums in Texas, Florida, and California. Translucent roofs at least allow natural light to go in, unlike retractable roofs.
@@RB01.10 or maybe they're finally finding out that vegas is dodger country lol. besides, they're not talking about a translucent roof. they want a ceiling with electronic graphics on it.
You can't spread baseball worldwide with teams tied down to full regular season leases...
it was wrong demolishing property in Las Vegas, like they did to the Trop hotel and casino
The A's have always been and always will be for the streets. They never belonged to Oakland.
The stadium in Sacramento HAS to have seating increased by MLB rules.
I really wish mlb would force the A’s to be sold. Keep them in Northern California
I mean it is only 8 games. It is weird but hardly a major issue.
It's a huge issue for Vegas. They would lose a ton of money if the A's play a bunch of home games elsewhere.
looks like the opera house
Why would any city do a deal with this ownership group? I’m so turned off by all of this in sports. Don’t give these pricks a penny.
Just imagine the Cubs Yankees or Dodgers saying they want to play 10 games away from their home stadium the fans on flip.
It's not a one size fits all situation. People will travel to Vegas for gaming, shows , food, and yes to watch Sports.
@@user-ih7hq3es1s Sounds like they want to make baseball an afterthought. Shameful.
MLB will end up running the A’s like it did the Expos before they moved to DC. The A’s will end up staying in Oakland at the Howard Terminal site and Vegas gets an expansion franchise. Which is what both cities desires.
Dude Howard Terminal is back to official Port time use
Oakland and Howard Terminal are all dead. The A's may be a traveling circus. But they will never call Oakland home again. And there is more people Las Vegas that are looking forward to the A's coming than you think. they will also make at least $ 20,0000 alone with sports betting there 1st year in Vegas. I love Oakland born and raised their. But nobody holds the city accountable for there failures of losing three major pro teams and losing a forth a minor team the Oakland Panthers. I watched the 1st A's game in 1968 and ill watch the last one in 2024. It's been a good run. Great memories . The A's will always be my team, watch them on T.V. where ever they play.
No big 4 sports team is EVER going to play in Oakland again. Period.
@@karnubawax well depends on city leaders in the future. If they provide the tax subsidies...all big 4 will come back to Oakland
