creativity isn't rewarded by youtube so why would it be prevalent ? Putting in 10x the effort for 1/10th the reward is not logical.

Crimsonland came out long before Vampire Survivors. I’m 35 and used to play it all the time as a kid.
Oof I am old. When I think "old game" I think pre-2000s, possibly maybe during the 2000s.
The problem with everything these days is that all the most selling ideas have already been tested, VW2 Games? Already been made. Adventure movies? There are too many to bother. Star wars cow milking? Please stop, just stop making more star wars content.
There are no more original ideas anymore, entertainment is overfilled with all the same content over and over again so we stick with what we already now instead of gambling on some new game that will unpopular or bad in just a couple of months.
That's why so many mmos failed in the early teens every MMO coming out was either a wow clone or trying so hard not to be a wow clone that it had no identity(age of Conan) or you had to much freedom (og black desert) or they were some sort of jrpg that over promised and couldn't manage the hype train (aion). Daoc rvr was my golden age of mmos.
40minutes to come to the conclusion that back in the day games were made to be good, rather than being made purely for money.
It's fucking wild how you can drag out "content" like this.

I remember playing that d day mission on PS2. It was so intense back then. Hadn't even remembered the game until I saw it in this video.
Have you noticed that everyone watches the same 3 people on any topic and are even adopting their manner of speech in some cases? To even have the option of watching other channels you would have to install special extensions first to block all those garbage recommendations. TV 2.0
18:20 I played Medal of Honor Frontline in high school on my brother in law's PS2 and it was the greatest depiction of D-Day in a video game at the time and probably still holds up to this day (says my nostalgia).
But the game you showed was MoH Allied Assault.

There's a simple answer for this. most gamers are 30 year old men with -some- money. Nostalgia is a powerful beast. Kids are playing new kids games. Just a whole lot of "my hobby is gaming" grown men.
It's not that... My nephews play Minecraft, which is kinda old, they also playing OLD games, im talking very old beat-em up games, mario kart in the wii, etc... They are 6 and 10 yrs old.
Old games are just better ... New games often are just dull, repetitive, microtransaction ridden so if you dont have money you can't progress or do anything...
TBC class balance is better than class vanilla.

And we can't just copy vanilla wow with another MMO, the genre is dead and it's the players fault. All the minmaxing and toxicity will NEVER go away. Internet got bad as soon as it got mainstream. I remember in my teens the internet was this awesome place, almost unregulated and totally wild, every webpage had it's own style, now everything looks the same, totally bland. The once that are the most addicted to social media, technology and shit are those people that pissed on us "nerds" when we were the pioneers. I can't be the only one that has gotten sick of new games, new movies, social media etc that are just aimed for the mainstream people. I tried SOD, but it sucked with all the minmaxing and it was the same with classic, I played phase 1 and phase 2 and after that the gamers ruined the game. A week ago I started playing age of empires 2, heroes 3 and roller coaster tycoon instead and I'm having a blast.

FUNDAMENTALLY INCORRECT. This fallacy is the exact problem that is killing the industry.
Different games appeal to different demographics, its FAR MORE FUCKING IMPORTANT to make a game that appeals to its niche audience than to abandon that niche audience seeking the casual audience. You wanna make a wildly successful game... Find something like Diablo which was wildly successful, make a new Diablo, find out what exactly people liked about Diablo and make it better, find out what people didn't like about Diablo and fix it or get rid of it. Now, work on your difficulty levels so the hard-core people can have a BRUTALLY PUSHINSHING SADISTIC EXPERIENCE, also work on the other end so that the casual people can get on after the kids are in bed and Smash stuff on EZ mode. MAKE A FUCKING GAME FOR A SPECIFIC AUDIENCE, they will love it, they will buy it, they will explain to all their casual friends how FUCKING AWESOME IT IS, they will get their casual friends to try it, many of the casual people will play EZ mode and that's it, some will be converted to hardcore fans and you will expand your playerbase. HOW THE FUK DID PEOPLE BECOME SO GODDAMN DUMB... NEVER TRY TO APPEAL TO EVERYONE, make a product for a specific audience and cater specifically to what they want the game to be.
One thing more... If you want to make money, you make a mobile game like candy crush... Candy crush on mobile phones makes more money than the rest of the fucking industry combined, don't believe me, look it up... MOBILE GATCHA SHIT IS 80% OF THE MONEY THE GAMING INDUSTRY MAKES, if the goal is money, you don't make AAA games that cost hundreds of millions of dollars, you make the next Candy Crush...

I played bg3, elden ring, helldivers2, ff16 and lethal company a lot this year and still have stuff I've not gotten to.
