  • ( www.TFLcar.com ) The 2014 Audi Q5 TDI Quattro is a diesel torque monster. With 240 HP but with 428lb-ft of toque the Audi will accelerate like a freight train. Perhaps what's even more astounding is the fact that the 2014 Audi Q5 TDI will get a combined 27 MPG and 31 on the highway. In another accurate, fun and informative TFLcar review Nathan and Roman test drive the newest 2014 Audi Q5 TDI Quattro. And since this is TFcar, they also see how fast the diesel Audi will go from 0-60 MPH at a mile above sea level.

    I own a 2010 Q5 3.2 and absolutely love this car!! I have less than a year to pay it off so no TDI for me. It still drives like new and I still get compliments! I test drove the Caddy SRX and almost went for it but had to go with the German blood and I'm glad I did. These car review guys are great!!

      Except in the US where they make legislation specifically against them.
      Argument: 15 million diesel trucks are fine. Cummings engine on pickups is fine.
      They must be polluting a different atmosphere.

    Another nice review, thanks!. Watching how you folks launch cars, I wonder if rolling rather than stomping the accelerator would provide better results? Many emission controlled vehicles I've driven recently hesitate when the accelerator's stomped to the floor (ECU seems confused and takes a second or so to sort itself out), while rolling the throttle (1/4 - 1/2 sec from start to floor) seems to let ECU figure things out on the fly and provide more acceleration.

    Glad you guys check the back seat. I have to tote adults around for long trips every so often, and having a reasonably comfortable back seat is one of my weird criteria when looking at cars.

    • @zeal117
      @zeal117 10 лет назад

      If that was a weird criteria the majority of cars would be two seaters. I actually sit behind my self in every car I have been test driving for the same reason as you and one of my occasional passengers is 6'3".

      I guess "weird" is the wrong word to use. "Often overlooked" might be a bit more apt. Most reviewers skim over it without giving it any perspective; they just say "roomy" or "cramped".

    V.A.G. Diesels seem great because V.A.G. gasoline engines have major reliability and durability issues. Direct, the largest aftermarket warranty company in the UK, released their engine reliability rankings last year and both VW & Audi were ranked in their bottom 10 for engine reliability.

    I would go for diesels too, but if temperature drops below -30C/-22F in the winter time, you have to use special winter diesel and even that sometimes gets too solid for the engines (and engine has trouble heating up in short city drive) ... well there goes that idea :( ...
    Would definitely use it in warmer climates though, that torque has no match.

    In the EU this is a pretty big engine for us. 3.0 L TDI costs a lot in taxes here, this model comes in the EU with a 2.0 L TDI with 143 hp, it does 5l/100km - 56 mpg. You tend to forget the fuel station. USA looks at these diesel engines like a new tech, in here its old tech :). Usually more than 60% of the cars are diesels.

    BMW's 3 litre, bi- and triturbo inline six diesel engines are better than Audis!

    • @boberson33
      @boberson33 10 лет назад

      In what way?

    • @PianoandCarcrack94
      @PianoandCarcrack94 10 лет назад

      inline six engines are simply better because of their mechanical layout and balance. a longer and heavier crankshaft also means higher inertia and rev-happiness.

    • @boberson33
      @boberson33 10 лет назад +1

      ThePianistDE Klavier (orig. PianoandCarcrack94) A heavier crankshaft requires more power and torque to rotate, thus reducing fuel economy, and more of a risk for "crank whip". If you want inertia, change out the flywheel, also, the specs'll tell you the story on both cars for bmw vs audi

    • @PianoandCarcrack94
      @PianoandCarcrack94 10 лет назад +1

      boberson33 A heavier crankshaft does not necessarily mean higher fuel consumption. There are way more factors. A V6 cannot keep up with the perfect mechanical balance of an inline 6 engine which doesn't require balance shafts.

    • @boberson33
      @boberson33 10 лет назад

      ThePianistDE Klavier (orig. PianoandCarcrack94) Somebody's been reading too much Examiner :P . An inline 6 is smoother but in the long run, it's all about on-paper. Of course a tri-turbo is gonna be better, thats completely aside from any engine setup, 3 freaking turbos. It being said, which models are you comparing?

  • @Iwasshocked

    google Audi DPF tutorial to see how they admit that diesels have problems. Diesel is more complex, less reliable. Nathan thinks diesels last longer? Motoring journalists get handed the keys to a new car full of fuel and drive it for a week and then get the next car. Sorry, but this does not qualify you to discuss reliability.

      joedogg9836 Not everyone needs a gigantic Q7. This car has plenty of purpose...
