When I was working at Audi, I got to drive the 2013 S8 and the 2014 R8. The S8 was absolutely outstanding in every way. Faster, more comfortable, great centre console. Yes, the R8 might turn many heads but this is the most underestimated luxury car there is.

Basically my dream car
If you've never actually driven or physically been in a car, you can't judge it. Audi's are soooooo smoooth and always an overall balanced package. Mercs always drive on a cloud but handle like garbage. Even the best mercs are the same. The interiors/dials are toyota like too. BMWs are up there with Audi but they depreciate much quicker plus Quattro trumps xdrive every time.
Seems Audi has bested BMW and Mercedes yet again....more car, more refinement, for less money.
Its the audis transmission that gives it the edge. 300hp audi's perform like 400 hp cars

Yea, that's to show you how well it did on something it WASN'T designed for, let alone something it WAS designed for. Plus also they need a location for a 0-60mph straight drag, and also for the 1/4 drag, amazing at 3.5 for 0-60, and 11.8 for 1/4 mile.
he said the steering is was too loose, which would change if he had the car's mode set to dynamic, which tights the steering drastically

Such a brutal and aggressive machine. I get a kick out of seeing the A8/S8 on the streets, more than I do with a 7 series or an S Class. I would buy one of these over any car in its class in a flash If I had the money.

Just got my S8 Dec.2013, in short it's a silent killer. The luxury and performance combination is un-matched for any car in its class. A true driving machine no fuss or gimmicks.
Had Audi made an rs8? I cannot even imagine that beast
I have an Audi RS6. It has a very similar twin turbo V8 in a smaller Quattro package. No doubt it's a Beast!!

I have an RS5 V8 and can testify to the amazing Audi V8's. It is a shame that these will be outlawed in the next few years.
How about making an RS8? such that the owner can hire a diver and run a lap in Nurburgring, himself will be sitting in the back seat with a glass of wine waving hand to other super car drivers:D

Audi under rated the HP claims on this car by almost 50hp ! The stock dyno runs are not lying! Go check out what APR.com can do with only a reflashed ecu ! This car is a monster!
PDK is not a automated manual, it's fully automatic dual clutch transmission.
just for that aluminium reference alone, i gave it a like. i think that is the main point what turns normal show into a great show. "listening to viewers".

For a family luxury car with performance and a sleeper, this would be the car. In my opinion there's no other luxury family car of this size and power that can be driven in the rain and snow with ease.

The exact same time from 0-60 as the legendary Ford GT. As well as the same time as the 2013 Shelby GT 500 mustang.
Mercedes = Classy and luxury looking
BMW = Looked fit and masculine
Audi = Awesome interior design and technology

I drove one and it was soooo fast. Love the AWD and the insane way Audi, like Nissan's GTR, gets all that power to the pavement...immediately! And you can tweak its power upward. Insane. Audi has an S8 Plus with 600HP!
Time to buy one now to replace my 450 hp Audi A6. ~USD $35K now in Canada.
Tuned at stage 2 this S8 is now 800+ hp and 2.8-2.9s to 60, 10.8-10.9 quarter mile..... that's just insane for this kind of car.
I can't wait to show up at the drag strip and drop some jaws.

Though, now that I give it some thought, even 570 hp sounds underrated for a 4600 lb car to do 60 mph in 3.5 secs. Even with AWD.
I see many reviews of the audi S8, all of the have the same common-- The car actually faster that Audi claim. My dream car!
Love this car, but unfortunately i am to poor and just an average working Joe living in suburbia and will more than likely never experience such a pleasure.

You are attacking me for absolutely no reason But again you are entitled in your opinion, I respect that. The X5Ms and other X-drives are lemons and other car makers aren't. These are expensive cars and expensive to fix with or without AWD if you dont have warranty on them, Hence people call them lemons when they cant afford to fix their used dream car.

The S8 actually uses the higher output 4.0T shared with the RS7, not the regular version used in the S6/S7. They call it 520HP but it is tested closer to 570/580. Oh and with an APR tune it will do 11.1 @ 123 on pump gas.
I Know. Actually every time a fast car is mentioned, People fight on youtube and forums about the Car you mentioned against any car. Two different audiences in my understanding and each car serves it's audience the best no matter it's a Prius, A GTR, an M5, or even a quite LS400.

Audi S8 dyno tests have shown that Audi far underrates its cars. The Audi S8 on a dyno put down 479 hp to the wheels, meaning that the engine is producing 575 hp; a LOT more than the 520 that they say it makes.
I am usually a muscle car fan. But man do i love the audi s8.
The subtitle descriptions in the lower left and really annoying. If people watching don't know what any of those are.. they shouldn't be watching a car show.
With that being said.. the Audi S8 is a hell of a car. Motor trend dynoed it a while back and found that is actually made ~570 horsepower. It is crazy fast.
I may be getting one of these soon...
I think I can honestly say that if I could pick any Audi from their whole line up it would be the S8. Even over the R8! It has everything Audi has to offer packed into one good looking car!

You have a point. You can actually get a 550iXdrive for less than 80k or even 50's if you buy a fully loaded one certified used with about less than 20k miles on it and extended warranty to 100k miles.

Here's a thing about Audi's (and VW's), they are very underrated from the factory. They make way more power than what's advertised. I bet the S8 makes closer to 600 hp.
Plus they have one of the best AWD systems and transmissions in the market. All adds up to awesome performance despite the weight of some of these cars.
Ha! Justin finally pronounced "Aluminium" correctly! I totally agree with his views on Audi's steering. I haven't driven an S8, but I have driven the A8 and an S5 recently and the steering on both is completely devoid of any kind of feedback. It's like playing a video game.

Don't get me wrong, I'm in love with Audi's and usually love them more than the other two brands, but the other two brands aren't that bad.
If I remember right, MotorTrend did dyno test it when they tested it against an Alpina B7, and the S8 was making 570AWHP.
I'm in like with my S8! It is simply the best everything car I've owned. And yeah it lays waste effortlessly.

GTR is a sports car coupe. This is a full size luxury sedan, cannot be compared.
That grill is more of an EVO signature than an Audi one
You're 100% correct. "buttnut105" was waaaay out there on that one. I ended up spending 15k more on a 2013 M5 (back in October 2012) than the GTR I was looking to buy. The a la carte options on BMW are absolutely astronomical. Another great point you made was "you can do much more when you're a dealership". They're so many additional options at the dealer that you can do, that you can't do on the build your car on the BMW website. You know your stuff.
Worth serious consideration...when considering this class of vehicles. Will make an appointment for a fun test drive.
Electronic intervention in a road car is not really a down side. As is stated this vehicle was never intended as a track car.

Gets better Gas Mileage than a hellcat and has less hp this car is brilliant.
Mine has the same paint scheme and interior as this, but with the 5 spoke wheels. Looks way better. One thing I've never seen in any of the reviews is its ability to raise and lower ride height with the touch of a screen. One of my favorite tech items on it is the nightvision.
How the hell is the S8 supposed to be a different car than the A8?
There's only one car we're talking about here: The Audi A8. There's different variants of it - the A8 3.0 TDI, the A8 4.2 TDI, the A8 L W12, the A8 L 4.2 TDI, and the S8. All the same, the "S" in front doesn't change that it's an A8. They could have called it A8 4.0 TFSI as well, it would still be an A8. Purely for marketing reasons they chose to call it S8, so oblivious customers like you think they're buying something special.
@David holt. The s8 is also awd. Whereas the LFA is rear. More wheel spin off the line. Causing a slower 0-60
They advertise 520hp, but if you were to dyno it you would get numbers closer to 700hp. That's how it gets to 60mph in 3.5 seconds, all that hp with AWD.

There are lemons in most batches. I had a corolla that I had to turn in after the 3rd transmission break. The one I received after that, never had an issue until I sold it.
And notice how it has no effect on Ferrari's ability to sell their cars. In fact, their cars are so sought after by people actually able to afford them that they can choose who they want to sell their cars to.

the SL63 does 3.5, it was in Motortrend's latest convertible comparison with an R8 and 911. A GT500 & ZR1 do 3.5 but only in THE best scenarios. And the last ZR1's have super sticky and expensive Michelin cup tires. You're right, though, because any roll streets races I've wtached with mustangs/corvettes/ etc they just spin...especially against GTRs which take off lol
