The wolf in sheeps clothing of the executive saloon world. I love the understated styling and the fact that you can embarrass supercar drivers from a set of lights. If I was in the market for a car of this type, the S8 is the one I would choose. Thanks for a fab upload.
The only "looks" I get are from Audi enthusiasts. In sport mode this thing blasts. Passing power is amazing. Trying to pass other drivers on several occasions I have looked down to realize I was at 100mph without effort. Leaving cars in the dust is routine. Not going to race people but it's a beast for sure.
So good to see you back! I am sure a lot of us have missed your unique style and sense of humour! Keep up the fantastic work - it’s really appreciated!
Thanks David. Life got in the way, between work, covid homeschooling and cowboy builders ripping us off and leaving us in the sh*t I just couldn't find time... 👍
Your back! That's made my Sunday 👏 (but before you get too big headed, it's been a crap day, bugger all on telly, freezing cold and rained all day here in Oxfordshire, so a pretty low baseline, but still, great to see you back!)
A great review of what is a real Q car. I bought a 2016 S8 from Audi in 2020 with 23,000 miles. Now has 39,000 and so far touch wood other than an annual service hasn't cost a penny in additional maintenance issues. There are reviews on the standard S8 (non plus version) where the 0-60 has been measured as low as 3.5 seconds so the rumours about Audi giving conservative power outputs at 520 bhp may well be true. If you need 4 doors and a massive boot as I do to move family , want to stay under the radar, then then forget Aston, Porsche, Merc, Jag and BMW and consider one of these. The D4 S8 really is an excellent choice.
Yes, sorry. Life got in the way. Between work, covid homeschooling and cowboy builders who ripped us off and left us in the sh*t I just couldn't time..

I, too, like euro sedans. I currently have an A6, so far it's been a good car. It's not fast enough though. I will probably pass it down to one of my kids and pick up an S8 in a couple years.
A great review, you get so much car for the money. I am considering swapping my 750 for one, as surprisingly, the S8 has more features than the 7 series. Oh, and you were not wrong about the costs of repairs for the 7 Series. Astronomical.
@@CarTrouble The F01, 5th gen. To be fair it hasn't been particularly unreliable, but I have had some large bills. The gearbox repair at £4k, was particularly painful.

I watched you since your 1st bentley video clip, good to see your new video up. I was pleasure to own a decent hand S8 plus for a while until wife keep annoying me about the petrol cost, so end up trade in for a disel Q8 T_t.
@@CarTrouble In full tank sport mode, Q8 can drive around 1000 km instead of the S8 plus around 350 km that's +5, the interior -5, no more attractive engine sounds -5, tech/mmi system upgraded +1, annoying wife system shut down +10, yeah....winner is Q8 in my case.
Welcome back sir. I’ve enjoyed your channel. Question: there were some Carbuyer reviews last year and the narrator (who isn’t shown in them) sounds a lot like you. Coincidence?
Does anyone know the wheel size on the car in this video? They look like the base 19” wheels on the 2013-2018 S6. This design wasn’t available on the US S8, only 21” wheels were available. I really like the look of these wheels compared to the 21s.
Bought a 2015 S8 with 108,000 miles on it, for $30K. I bought it with that many miles on it because I thought it was in great condition and also because I knew that if I had to put a few thousand into it I would have an amazing car that I could baby and drive for years. A month into it and the check engine light has come on, a message saying "reduce engine oil level" has popped up and now I'm hearing a ticking from the engine. Think I may have bought a POS. I have a scheduled 115K service at the Audi dealership in my area for next month. I have taken it to my trusted, local, mechanic. They ran the engine diagnostic. Changed the oil, cost me $250. I'll post the engine codes in the edit. I'm torn between thinking I've bought the best used car ever and the worst used car ever, impending multi-thousand dollar repair incoming. That said, so far that hasn't happened. I drive it daily and the fucking thing is a beast. Passing power is a understatement, power, massive power on tap. My son drove it this afternoon and said I was lucky to even own it. I just can't get it out of my mind that it's going to break on me. I'm not sure I can keep it. Someone please tell me that this car is going to be okay as long as I dump a ton of money into it.
Hi David, I hope this all works out for you. If it helps, the one in this video now has the eml light on too, but isn't in limp mode and drives ok. According the the mechanic I use, that is a good scenario. If in limp mode, you can have some serious issues, but if its not, its often a sensor fault. I hope its that. Please do update when you know.. In the meantime, if its driving fine, just enjoy it. 🙂 Thanks for watching..
@@CarTrouble Took mine in for the 115,000 service even though it only has 109,000 on it. The results were as good as I could have hoped. The car is in great mechanical condition. The "reduce engine oil level" was addressed by having someone who knows how to work on Audi's, change the oil. He explained that you need to use a vacuum to get the oil out and most places wouldn't use that method, and oil would naturally be left in reserve if you didn't. Has not come back on since the service. The check engine light went off before I took it in but they looked into that as well. It turned out to be a turbo sensor that needs to be replaced. They also informed me that the "night vision" washer jet needs replaced. I had no idea this thing had night vision. I was also informed that I have a "squeaky" front suspension. They sent me a video that showed me other things that might need to be addressed. I would post it but I didn't save it and they took it down already. The front brakes were 5mm but the back were almost brand new at 10mm. They also checked the tire tread. All seem good for now. Diagnostics for the car at Audi Shawnee Mission run $199.00 per issue. I was quoted two diagnostic charges up front, one for the oil light and one for the check engine. I was only charged once for the oil. The entire service ran me just over $3000. They quoted me $900 for the turbo sensor replacement and $1300 for the night vision jet replacement. I declined both for now, the $3000 was all I was willing to spend and the car seems to be running fine, I'll baby it until I can get the turbo sensor replaced. Not sure if I care about the NV jet tbh. He told me that I got the most expensive version for that year and that it was in great shape. He has a super charged V6 S4 and said mine was amazing. Pretty sure I got a great deal buying this car at $30,000. Probably because the dealership was a Chevy dealership and not an Audi. I'm guessing it would have cost another 10 grand at a Audi dealership. They gave me a loaner free of charge. It was a 2023 Audi SQ5. I was shocked that they chose to give me such a high dollar car, sticker in the back said it was the $78,000 version. Given this toy I was able to play with the sport mode and manual shifting options without feeling like I was going to hurt my older model. I was amazed to find that some of the transmission quirks my older model has, the new one has as well. Sport mode holds revs much higher and for longer, I didn't realize that when I played with it in my older one. Comfort mode also had the same transmission quirks on the same hill as my older one. Really made me feel good about my purchase. Were they trying to get me to trade in mine for a new one? Not sure but it made me very happy that I got the older V8 version even though the exhaust isn't loud enough for me. Apologies for rambling, but thank you so much for your response. Appreciate your concern and feedback.
Hey david hope all is well how is the car mow after 8 months Actually im looking at a 2016 model with 130k km should i cop or walk away and if so what recommendations would you give are they reliable and worthy ? Or they break often and need a ton of money?
