As a Chinese, I really don’t understand the West’s hatred of China. If we want to hate, it should be the Chinese who are more qualified to hate Western countries. Many Western countries have invaded China and plundered a large amount of Chinese wealth. There are still tens of thousands of Chinese cultural relics plundered during the British invasion of China in the British Museum that have not yet been returned to China. France, Japan, Germany, the United States, Italy and other countries also have it. This is evidence of their invasion of China. This does not include forcing the Qing Dynasty to compensate them for the tens of thousands of tons of silver they invaded China. These invaders did not give China a penny in compensation. Now they are creating false information and describing China as a devil. They do have human faces and animal hearts.

I have met a young couple in Thailand not long ago and they were from US. They were traveling from Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and then going to Cambodia and Vietnam before going back to US.
We had a casual friendly conversation and I have asked them since they are so near to China, why not go to China just for a few days to see China. I was really surprised of what they told me. They said according to all their media reports in US, they were advice not by the media only by many people too not to travel to China as China is not a safe country to travel. Very dirty, old rundown infrastructures, poor transportation system, polluted, robbery is common even in broad daylight and chances of been detained for no reason by the Communist is very high. Because China is an authoritarian state and all foreign visitors are monitored by thousands of cameras everywhere, every minute wherever foreign visitors go. Visitors can be detained for no reason for months and ever years.
All these is what they know about China. The couple is around 25 years of age and already so badly brainwashed by their government-controlled media. This is really sad.

Show me a Western article that tells Americans that China is in bad shape. This is Wumao propaganda and is a lie.
The couple is not going to China but to Vietnam and Cambodia. Sure!
China has a bad reputation because the government encourages people to report "suspected" foreigners as spies. Chinese who report "suspicious" foreigners receive a large reward. This is where the travel warning comes from.

@@viewpointabroadIndeed, many Americans were imprisoned, including diplomats from the consulate in Hong Kong, who handed out US dollar bills to the people involved in the riots in Hong Kong and issued visas to the riot organizers. Yes, they were arrested and are in the judicial process. The United States and Britain have condemned the human rights issue in Hong Kong countless times, but never told the people that their diplomats were arrested by the Chinese police.

This is exactly the same situation here in my country, (Malaysia) we have been ingrained to fear, hate and reject anything that is communist. However if you ask 99/100 people, they would not be able to explain what communism is.

What is communism? Do you really understand?
At least few Chinese know what communism is.
If you have to find an example of communism in China, I can think of government-subsidized infrastructure, 30-cent subway fares, 60-cent water bills, 7-cent electricity bills, or $100 1500km + high-speed rail tickets, or 24-hour open hospitals with low fees, and stable prices of meat, eggs, rice and noodles. Apart from these, I can't find any other examples that conform to communism.

All the countries of the human world were founded by the aristocracy, based on monarchical power, divine power, military power, ethnicity, culture, religion, and even money, but 100 years ago, someone stood up and declared that we would build a country with prosperity and fairness, and bring prosperity and fairness to all mankind. The People's Republic of China was born under this oath, the first country in human history founded by the oppressed from the bottom of the ladder, a miracle made possible by the idea of "fairness", turning the impossible into the possible. It does not matter whether it is capitalism, communism or anything else, what matters is that we believe that the People's Republic of China will bring about an era of fairness and prosperity for mankind, and we may be far from that goal, but we have never given up on our original ideals.

As a country, China is still morphing - learning, adapting and changing to meet the needs and challenges that it confronts. It's actually very bold and fascinating. It's only constrain is not let the changes get out of hand and destabilize its economic and political system. For example, it plays capitalism better capitalist countries, when is the last time its parliament shows up in Mao suits. It's a revisionist play on pure communism that's it terms itself as 'socialism with Chinese characteristics' for lack of better definition where even the socialism is not practised in it's pure form. It's this boldness and one-minded steadfast determination to change for the betterment for the people and country that freak out the west that is stuck in mindless straightjacket of China as pure communism, saddling its people in miserable under achievement and poverty. Hats off and Thanks for speaking out your mind on your observation :)

Objectively looking at things today, it's much better to have one party that have democratic values than multi parties that just bicker with each other and stifling progress. Factually now, majority of western countries, the voters vote for a party that always serve the interest of the donors or sponsors first before the people. At least in China, policies change to help the country rid of issues and critically they have short, mid and long term goals that can be achieved instead of one party coming in to cancel a project for example, take UK, they talked and wanted a third runway in Heathrow, 24 years later, not built yet. In Hong Kong, they talked about it, agreed to it and had it built within the time frame.

A middle-aged person should have memory how the Western attitude toward China evolves over the years. Twenty to thirty years back, they looked down on China as a deprived country. Whenever their reporters took a picture of the Tiananmen square, they would wait for a horse-drawn cart to pass by to portrait how backward China was. After horse-drawn carts became extinct, they waited for bicycles to pass by. Meanwhile, they turned a blind eye to the positive changes happening in this country. However, China’s advancement got noticed by the western people who had the opportunity to travel there on business and shared their full story at home. Now, the West can no longer look down on China because China has obviously surpassed them in many important ways. Instead of treating China as equal, they pivoted from scorn to hate. They hate China for being modernized. They cannot accept the fact that an” inferior race” can enjoy a living standard equal to or better than theirs. They are consumed by hatred and they want to do something about it. This explains the attitude of Western politicians toward China today.

For China: Nothing worth for a war between us and China! As China loves helping the world's peaceful infrastructure developments 🙏
But for the USA: Don't want to see China's rises so it can continue rule the world by itself alone!
So that's how the world know the US's politicians guilty of envying and jealous on China rises! They would do all kinds of evil trouble and bully acts! just to maintain for the US's super empire ambition , while using the name of "helping others to fight for Human rights and democracy" 🙄, but China's "human rights and democracy are better than the USA's 🙏

Regarding the Chinese people: Are they happy? Do they have access to what they need? Do they have realistic opportunities to attain what they want? I’m pretty sure the answer to all those questions is yes. Regarding the party: Are they invading another sovereign nation? Are they occupying foreign territory? Are they committing or sponsoring terrorism? I’m pretty sure the answer to all those questions is no. Therein lies my biggest gripe with the American government; given the above, why do we have any say in how or who chooses China’s leader?

You are right. I think small gov't and freedom is good for the USA at least when it was founded. For Asian countries steeped in Confucianism, more of a dictatorial type of gov't is preferable as that is their "culture", Taiwan, Japan and S.Korea are the minorities at least by population in East Asia. As China gets richer I am sure there will be more involvement on some level by the people b/c if not they may leave and bring their $ elsewhere, just a thought. One of my family members said "China is not free" (they have never been to China of course) and I said well, just b/c you can't go down the street with a Bible in your hand screaming does not mean it is not free. The US may be "free" in that regard, but what about "economic freedom"? Far less taxes in China and you can make $2000/month teaching English and rent an apt. for 1-200$/month that is 5-10% of your income, show me an American paying 5-10% of their income for housing please! More like 50%+ on housing. The American system has become broken, maybe by design, it is not sustainable. peace from Fuzhou.

East Asia has been influenced by thousands of years of Confucian culture in China, and has historically adopted the same system of big government as China. After China's backwardness in modern times, these countries turned to what the West called democracy, but the influence of Chinese culture still dominated the thinking of East Asian countries. Although Japan has an electoral system, the ruling party has remained unchanged for decades. It is only in recent decades that Taiwan has not really achieved political party rotation, but the consequence has been a marked deterioration of social antagonism and an economic decline.

Capitalism is part of the Chinese DNA and has always been so. The Chinese don’t care about conquering lands, spreading their version of communism/ socialism, or shoving their ideology don’t the throats of other ethnic or cultural groups. They care about 4 things - family, health, education and making MONEY! Business and trade is dominated by the Chinese in the ASEAN countries, be it Singapore, where I’m from; Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, The Philippines, Vietnam, etc. Children are taught the importance of money from a very young age. They get red money packets during the Chinese New Year.
Soviet Union (USSR) is the version of communism most Americans associate communism with. There are different versions of communism/ socialism; just as there are different versions of democracy - American version, British version, Scandinavian and even the Swiss versions of democracy.

The highest per capita income, GDP, yet we won't provide the basic health care access as a priority. We fund the Military insane trillions $ yet can't pay to upgrade our crumpling infrastructure. The top 1% owns more wealth than the entire middle class (lower 63%). Homelessness & crime is like cancer, killing our formerly best cities. China could have just rebrand its ideology from communism to something else more Chinese traditional, like for example : Confucianism or socialist meritocracy or something else, but China being stubborn still keeps its label as a Communist State knowing that Communism as an ideology, tied to dictatorship and authoritarian, is hated everywhere. How many of you who hated communism has ever read Marx's The Communist Manifesto? but you hate it anyway, communism is bad or not is not important here, it is already stigmatized. China, as a trade nation, even from ancient time, should have known better. As an overseas Chinese, It really irks me when the CPC celebrated Marx's birthday and do not care about Confucius, the father of the East Asia. I have always said that China, with hardworking people, could have outrun any country, but chose to crawl.

    Comparison 2:
    * Number of American military bases outside its territory = 750

    Comparison 3:
    * Distance from Chinese military base to America = 10,000 km
    * Distance from American military base to China = 0 km (Taiwan is within China)
    Comparison 4:
    * In 2020, after pulling out of a 20-year occupation in Afghanistan, America confiscated Afghanistan’s 7 Billion dollar foreign reserves, leaving Afghanistan in desperate short of basic necessities.
    * In the autumn of 2020, China poured in humanitarian aids to Afghanistan to help Afghans weather the winter.
    Comparison 5:
    * On 3 Jan 2020, General Qasem Soleimani of Iran, was killed in a drone strike by America, while heading to Baghdad in order to engage in diplomatic discussions aimed to reduce hostility between Iran and Saudi.
    * On 10th Mar 2023, brokered by China, long time rivals Saudi and Iran reestablished diplomatic ties, marking a new beginning of the two biggest Shia and Sunni countries, bringing peace to the Middle East.
    Comparison 6:
    * Laos holds a world record: the most bombed country in the world. 7.7 million tons of explosives were dropped in Laos, by more than 580,000 air missions by the US Airforce on Laos between 1964 and 1973 during the Vietnam War. That’s more than three times the amount of bombs dropped in all theaters of World War II. There are still 80 million bomblets that never went off remain live, buried over 35% of land area of Laos. A staggering 270 million bomblets were dropped in a country with a population of 2.5 million, to carpet a huge buffer zone to prevent weaponries to reach Vietnam. By 1975, 1/10th of Laos population was killed, 1/5th of the population wounded.
    * Today Laos has a high speed train more advanced than American’s, built by China after removing the unexploded bomblets.
