Lee, just stay on the positive side. Like many of us, I stayed with other negative tuber for a long time and found theirs from critics to over the line, to hopelessly, lies, lies, and more lies. The negative side is a downhill slide to stupidity. And the positive side, it gets easier and easier. So stay here!
Hi Lee, as it turns out the $300 million passed by Congress wasn't enough, so it has been increased to $90 billion now. Wave Media Jan 28, 2024 $90 billion spent on disinformation about China, what did the US people get?
@KrazyManuel_K Did you know that during WWII, many Jews escaped from the Holocaust and settled in Shanghai? There are still Jewish communities that settled in Shanghai and Kaifeng. You can google this yourself. Actually there are some archived videos on RUclips regarding this subject. The Jewish community thanked China for welcoming them during time of crisis and need. Since you're a zionist, think on that for a moment.
WARNING TO THOSE GETTING A VPN: Check out the video "Why Using VPN is Illegal in China?". One of the China authorities is talking about it. Not an anti-China person.
IMy wife and I are Australians. We have lived in China for about 11 years. My work has required me to travel extensively to the north and the south visiting both cities and rural communities. I have been to Xinjiang five times, visiting rural Uyghur communities. These folk are doing pretty well and are not oppressed. If they were, I would have sensed it. The anti-China reporting by the western media is dishonest and ignorant. China is a great civilisation coming out of a bad patch for a few centuries. It is safer than Australia and much more so than USA.I attribute the anti China coverage in the western media to US propaganda.
Remember that this is not a new thing, USA for example, used to do this to Japan back when Japan is in its economic boom, the difference is, Japan chose to bow down to USA, while China does not.
@@Sharer01they have a choice, claiming to be a democratic sovereign kingdom. But most japanese being subdued by the us atomic bombs have no more courage to think critically.
Hey Barrett, I wanted to thank you changing my perspective on China, I'm a Chinese Canadian that immigrated to Canada at a young age, I remembering watching channels like China uncensored and other mainstream media. For a period of my life i hated who i am, I hated my country and my people, but then a few years ago i came across your viral video: Western Media Lies About China and it was the first video that made me question the narrative that the media feeds me and since then I've being doing research myself and learned a lot more about the nuance between China and the West then i ever would have.
Canada, a vassal state of the US, has to do whatever the master says. Not capable of competing with Huawei, then kidnapping the CEO's daughter. The master is a lowlife; what can you do? He pays hundreds of millions of dollars to media that is willing to lie about China; it's pathetic.
As a White Aussie Male, I totally concur with what you are saying. When I toured China I was pleasantly surprised how advanced China is compared to the rest of us. I found it disgusting of USA when, on the 9/6/2021, pass a bill, 68 votes to 32, is known officially as the 'US Innovation and Competition Act' and in Washington it is colloquially known simply as the “anti-China bill”. And as part of the bill USA spends $300 Million a year to media trash China. Who does that? That is despicable. People really need to get themselves a passport and see the REAL China. China is a prime example how Governments should govern, and that is, use Tax Payers money on Tax Payers, not Corporations. All China's taxes go to developing amazing Civic Infrastructures (e.g. High Spreed Rail Systems, schools, universities, AI Smart factories/farms, amazing Freeways and Motor ways, bridges, ports, housing, parks, high speed 5G for all, etc) and providing ALL their Citizens with affordable Health Care. This is where I want MY taxes to go to in Australia, not propping up some mismanaged Corporations, or helping corporations prop up money for their Shareholders, or having them pay little to NO taxes, etc. Bugger the private Corporations. Let them go bust for their shear laziness and mismanagement and we'll take "back" our factories (that we gave them for pittance) for the people. These private greedy CEO's have done nothing to cater for the needs of "all" our civilians.
Well said mate. Unfortunately, just too many people in the Anglo-Saxon countries are too lazy to see, hear and think for themselves. The "democracy, freedom" slogans are too embedded in people's mind, and without them knowing what it means. Election system is a good thing, only if it enable the general public to make changes. You probably have heard of the saying: "you can change the government, but not the policies". In China, through their unique way of governance, people can initiate a change in outcome, without changing the rulers.
Yes, I was pretty much dumbstruck by how the US can openly say they are going to mudsling China, and nobody in the MSM comes out and say how unethical, and downright despicable that is. That's the moral standard of the West.
Yep. In the United States, our tax dollars are spent on bombs, tanks, guns, fighter jets, aircraft carriers and funding wars.......aka the military industrial complex. Anything that puts more money in their millionaire & billionaire donors bank accounts, which is who they serve, that's what they are gonna do while average everyday working class Americans get nothing but further in debt. I'm looking to visit Shanghai this summer!
Hi Barrett, I agree with you, I spent 10 years in China and I traveled around the world and the safest Country in the World is China. People are so friendly and always willing to help you
@SLAVAUKRAINI-cb5vt You are another fine example of the easily manipulated sheep that believes, and in turn, parrots the same old crap fed to you by your puppet masters. Intelligent advice: don't believe and immediately jump to premeditated conclusions fed to you; if you're going to have an opinion, at least do your research and remove any doubts first!
@SLAVAUKRAINI-cb5vt is it questionable to say these "Chinese tourists" just show up out of nowhere then come and leave without any tourist buses or vehicles? Do you really think the tourists don't travel in groups 😂
I do not like the way that the West talk about all the 'surveillance camera's' in China. Mate, they are NOT 'surveillance camera's ... they are 'security camera's'. I love the fact that China had SECURITY CAMERAS everywhere, because I felt SAFE in China (not so in USA). If you have NOTHING to hide, then their Security Camera's are not an issue. I could leave my stuff on a restaurant table, go to the toilet or order my food, and my stuff will still be there. I have my stuff stolen in Paris (Eiffel Tower), my cultural country Greece (Acropolis), and USA (Orlando). And I hate the way that if you push or hurt the perpetrator trying to get your stuff back, then you're the one in trouble in the West. The Perpetrator has more rights than a descent person protecting themselves. As I said, if you've got NOTHING TO HIDE, then China's Security Camera are amazing in protecting me. But, if you've got something to hide, then do NOT go to China. Stay were you are because the Western laws are in your favour in protecting 'your rights' (bugger the victim who may over exerted themselves out of defence).
As near as 15 or 20 years ago, public security issues (child kidnapping, theft and robbery, to name a few) were very bad in many places ( though not as bad as NYC for example). Now those problems are almost completely gone, primarily due to, imo, security cameras and improved living standards
Only bad guys should be scared of the cameras in public areas. And governments always can know everything about you, if they want, with or without cameras...
@KrazyManuel_K I bet you would be more and more upset as time goes by, as China becomes better and better, oh man, what a pathetic life you are living...
When I was working in Guangzhou city, I remember gotten totally wasted, laying on the street. Then, this stranger whom I had exchanged words with in the club when in sober state, actually spent 45 mins trying to get a cab for me. Yup, my pillow was black and soiled, and I had to throw out the clothes I was wearing, that's how miserable I was that night.
As a Malaysian, I hadn't visited China before the age of 30. During my teenage years (10-20 years old), I held the perception that China was backward and dirty. However, about five years ago, due to work commitments, I had the opportunity to visit several cities in China. I gained an understanding of the challenges faced by the Chinese government in managing a population of 1.4 bil and the remarkable development that has brought the country to its current scale. I also witnessed the misinformation spread by Western media.
How dare you,, don't you see everywhere the Chinese go that place is booming and thriving, for example without the Chinese Indonesia won't grow. Look at Singapore also
Thanks Lee. I've been living in China for almost 8 years and its frustrating to see so much false information spread about the country. I really love living here!
Good video, Barrett! Ken Abroad (also featured in your video) is a friend of ours, and he had the same experience as us in China. It's a great place for tourism :)
Hey, god to see you in the comments. You have only scratched the surface, I've been here years and still discovering new places.. so much to see and do...
@SLAVAUKRAINI-cb5vtgo to British museum to see what the British had steal from China let alone what the ass holes had done here. You Pathetic descendant of those robbers
A college professor, I am teaching a course on the global south. Seven countries are used as case studies. China is one. I mentioned my pleasant surprise in China last fall. That was the first time I went back after the pandemic. The question is why many in the west do not believe in a changing and better China. Here are three reasons. First, China has developed very fast. Since I left China in 1989, I saw constant progress whenever I returned. But the changes were steady, but not that kind of fast. This time, China seems to have reached a threshold. Second, Western media plays a role. Unlike China or communist countries, the media in the west focus on negative things even within their own countries. When it comes to third world countries, there is a phrase called "coup and earthquake syndrome," which means that only political disability and natural disasters are covered. Finally, China has become a competitor to America. There are no reasons to say nice things about China. I told students that the NYT has the best international coverage. I even showed them how to get there: you look for the world, then Asia, and then China. I showed them the most recent entries, which were about 20 in number. I was shocked to find all were negative.
Dear professor lake1963, I guess the reasons many people in the West do not believe in a changing and better China are as follows: * They keep seeing electric cars and motorcycles temperamentally combust into flames. * They keep seeing tall buildings in China collapse suddenly. * They keep seeing bridges collapse suddenly again. * They have bought Made in China products and found the quality of these Chinese products wanting. * They have found the Chinese communist government very secretive and it would crack down on any negative news articles on the Chinese economy's performance and imprisoning any business analysts conducting research into the actual growth and performance of any Chinese company, of any Chinese industry, or of the whole Chinese economy as spies. If the Chinese government has nothing to hide, then why are they so secretive? And that has a huge impact on many people in the West not believing in a changing and better China. I am also curious as to why a rising global powerhouse like communist China would care so much about what the US and Western media say about it or what Westerners think or say about it. If I was the owner of a company that generates billions of dollars in profit, I could care less what other people say about my moral character, IQ, or anything else about me.
The US elites deliberately stir division among the bottom 80% on domestic issues. Therefore people in the US are not united which is why the US has to constantly create the imaginary evil monster that is out to get them in order to get the public united on international affairs.
You are very brave to face foreign governments accusations. Western bias and hostility towards China and Chinese is unfounded. China is not an aggressive nation. We care more of our own well being than others 😮😊
"China is not an agressive nation" lmao is that why nearly every neighboring country of China has a negative opinion of China? Or why do Chinese politicians threaten other countries with various forms of retribution if they do not do as the CCP dictates? This youtube shill is so transparent. Other real RUclipsrs have exposed Barrett for his nonsense. If you truly believe this guy, well that's a shame. But fortunately the majority of the world's citizens know the truth about China and the CCP. And their propaganda is largely unsuccessful.
I think China is an agressor, bullying the Philippines, Vietnam and Australia, stealing natural resources from Africa, fishing without permission in my country Argentina, China is a predator and now where I live, in Usa border with Mexico thousands of Chineses coming illegally to America.
@karllarsen8797 , ask any Indian and they will tell you. Unlike the Europeans, they have not taken over continents like Norh America, Australia and colonised Asia and robbed the people there for many centuries.
I was in China late last year 2023. I’m a UK / Australian dual national. The power of western media is mind blowing. The lies that they continue to pump out are staggering. China is the future, an extremely safe, clean futuristic country. The Chinese people are extremely proud of what they have achieved and so they should be.
I am curious: 1) Why would you care about the "staggering lies" about communist China being pumped out from the West? 2) And why would communist China care about the "staggering lies" about China? Surely, if communist China has truth and facts on its side, what does it have to worry about?
@@ClivesChronicles 1) Manufacturing consent by whom? consent about what? 2) If communist China itself was not worried about what the West have said about it, then why would you worry about what the West have said about communist China?
Barrett - like you I have been living here in China for 4 years and everything you have put out is accurate. I am sure there are hundreds of us who just because we love China could put out the same type of videos and the Chinese government does not need to fund anyone of us. Keep up the great work
@user-tg6cw6rw2m You may not understand that China does not prohibit its citizens from using youtube! In those years, the Chinese government asked Google to set up its server in China, otherwise it could not operate in China. (Now the U.S. government requires TikTok to set the server in the United States for the same reason). Google and Facebook chose to withdraw from China. They thought they could blackmail the Chinese government in this way, but they were wrong. China sent Show your own social media. It is not against the law to use RUclips in China now. The Chinese government has blocked their servers, but it is still okay as long as you use VPN.
The reason why the West close these Confiscius Institutes is obvious. When people learn Chinese language and art, they will be curious to understand China history, past and present. They will dig deep in their research and not make opinion based on what they read on media.
@SLAVAUKRAINI-cb5vt There are good and bad people everywhere, please do not use the performance of a few people to represent the majority, although I also find them very unfriendly. Welcome to China to experience everything.
@SLAVAUKRAINI-cb5vt Of course there are videos of westerners behaving bad and entitled in China (you don't need to go to China, can ask People in Poland how British guys are considered the rudest tourists ever), drunk driving, and brawls on the street from drunken people. Many times, Chinese social media would be outraged about how lenient the Chinese police is to the foreigners misbehaving. Tere are bad apples everywhere. And the Pianist story - Chinese people on Chinese social media also criticized the Chinese tourists from that video.
@SLAVAUKRAINI-cb5vt Inamori Kazuo once said, I stood on the first floor, someone scolded me, I heard very angry. I was standing on the 10th floor and someone called me names. I couldn't hear them very well and thought it was him saying hello to me. I was standing on the 100th floor, and someone was calling me names, and I couldn't see or hear them. It reflects his remarkable pattern. His point is that a man is so deeply involved because his structure is too small and he stands too low. If you stand on higher ground, you will naturally feel more.
That's why people SHOULD and MUST travel because it's through travels that we learn first hand. I've been to Shanghai a couple of times and the city really impressed me!!!
I am a tourist from Malaysia and visited China couple of times. I am in the opinion that the camera in early stage bring a little goose bump but hey… i am not there to do any crime, why should i be worried. As a matter of fact, i feel much more safer. Can media from the west be trusted? Why Trump call them Fake News? 😊😊
There used to be thieves stealing things all over China. Since the introduction of cameras, the crime rate of stealing has been greatly reduced. As long as someone calls the police, the police will quickly help him/her find the lost items or stolen bags, etc.
@SLAVAUKRAINI-cb5vt If that happens, the media just won't report it. That was just a small incident and they turned it into an opportunity that they have always been dying for. By the way, those are not tourists.
I am From Hong kong: and I am surprised at the HUGE cultural shifts in China over the last 2 decades because in the last couple of years, many in China got accustomed to being safe on the streets with zero thieves due to many security cameras, to such an extent that some are becoming careless when they travel to Hong Kong, like dangling their wallets or phones in backpockets when they are in crowded train.
@SLAVAUKRAINI-cb5vt Only glanced at the news with headings so I might be wrong. In my opinion, it s a farce. She actually apologised in Mandarin in bringing shame to Chinese nationals because of her immaturity and on the other side, the British guy somehow thought insulting Xi with winnie the poo would make her feel terrible, which is as ridiculous as saying insults to President Biden must mean it s an insult to every American. You can still buy winnie the poo in Shanghai Disney land, so insisting it is somehow an insult is itself ridiculous. Most folks see the so called dispute as just another scandal to get more viewers online for BOTH the Chinese woman and the pianist. The dispute would be a lot more authentic if they cannot receive any monetary benefits.
Yes I saw a post about that several years ago about London survellance and only a few people were against it. It was a rather lukewarm meh response. But only just recently I had someone complain to me how scary the amount of surveillance cameras there are in China. He doesn't even live in China. It is just... perplexing sometimes how any conversation or in any place of the world can turn anti-china at the drop of the hat. My favourite little guilty pleasure is recognising the amount of companies that have uniquitously sprouted out of china e.g. phones, cars, white good appliances etc. that are actually chinese but rebranded with a more likeable western sounding name. Even manufacturing companies. People like to moan about low quality chinese tools and equipments but they can build such a product at that cost and at that reliability? No they'd rather moan and whine about how they preferred the slightly better or even better quality product that cost 5-10 times more. Just how impractical and narrow-minded are some of these people? Oh my god the way people just buy them, leave nice little reviews, remark how cheap and good they are, or just buy them without much complaint. All the while not knowing they are chinese. Or even their favourite brands and companies are mainly all made in China anyways even the 'deluxe, top of the line' materialistic bullshit that keeps them happy. And these same people proceed to come up to me to b*^tch about the low quality of Chinese products. I love it. They keep making my motherland prosperous whilst being so ignorant about it all.
Exactly . No one cares. And no one cares that China has endless cameras. Channels say people do care to stir up trouble for subscribers. All these channels exaggerate to create division.
@@qus.9617some think it’s a slippery slope in China. So credit system is for businesses. Some think this will move onto people and they will get banned for leaving certain areas or doing certain things. This is a small minority. Again, no one gives a shit.
@SLAVAUKRAINI-cb5vt yeah the whole opium war business lol. Also entire sections of Hong Kong where Chinese weren't allowed but dogs, cats, and British were allowed. If you mean recently no I do not know. What a random question though. I didn't know about the pianist before I will give him the benefit of the doubt and say he felted wronged. And the Chinese were being somewhat clueless and behaved badly. Buy I know about him now. He did after all make several interviews for a few tv programs talking about the event. Good for him. I am sure the publicity was not a boon. Another thing I learnt. Is if someone kept calling me Japanese despite being corrected I should just take the L and nod along as to not offend the poor Englishman. Hmm I wonder how someone else would feel if I kept insisting they were Russian?
I am not comfortable filming in Australia at all. This country is just so camera-phobic and picture-phobic. I got insulted by locals and even stopped by the police and asked to remove my video.
It's great that more and more people starting to visit and make more videos about China. You were one of the original guys that started showing real China, so thanks.
i told it before: i,m dutch and raise with the western idea's, when i came to China i saw a complete different China what me was told. i be there now for 5 times, and yes we go this year 2024 again.
Wonderful . Please convey your experience as described to all your folks back in Netherlands , for the sake of a better Dutch-Chinese people-to-people understanding & relationship
How I hope that my Country can afford to install cameras everywhere. I feel very safe when I was in China regardless the time of day. Personally, I ❤ China
When Western media talks bad about China it shows that China is now better than their countries..You have my full support to debunk those anti China vblogs
Funny I am an American and I frequent China with my own money and so far, no one from China has offered me any money. I wish they would so it would make it easier.😆
@SLAVAUKRAINI-cb5vt both parties were in the wrong and they could have resolved it it better. Dr K blows it out of proportion posting everyday and has made a killing from it. Don’t forget that group of Chinese doesn’t represent all Chinese people or their government.
@SLAVAUKRAINI-cb5vt Unless you were present at the incident, you can't make a judgement. Western MSM have been lying to their audiences, taking advantage of the fact that the public were absent to witness the true events.
As a South Asian guy, I hv go back and forth to China for business and vacation. Sometimes the negative comments can be very annoying cuz it's soooo far from the reality if you are in China that it just showed how uneducated these people are.
In 2019, the 145-million inbound tourists. Many visitors return again and again. And many try to stay (and some do). And some post their experiences online and all this is great. The truth cannot be hidden for long.
There is so much inaccurate information about China, the ignorance. If you are ignorant about anything then go learn about it. If you are ignorant about a country go visit that country, and find out for yourself.
Great video and summary of the whole topic! By now I've been to a few more Chinese cities other than Shanghai and my experiences are still the same. The cities are clean, I feel safe, the people are open and friendly, the food is amazing and the places are super interesting to visit.
Thanks Ken, nice to see you in the comments section. I hope you visit many more cities, im sure you will have a similar experience in all places you visit.
Are you saying that cameras aren't a deterrent? I think you need to work on your English, because I don't think you meant what you said. Sorry to be so blunt, but I've come across too many Chinese who seem to make comments which are the opposite of what they think they meant to say.😅
I am an overseas chinese, I hv always aware of western propaganda and question their views on chna. Now things hv started to turn around, more n more peoples can see for themselves since chn open up.
I am really pleased to notice that more and more young westerners are taking advantage of the 5-day visa free provision to visit China and posing videos on RUclips of their positive experience and the beautiful scenery. Truth cannot be suppressed forever. And thanks, Lee, for persevering with making videos despite personal abuses levelled at you.
So glad to see you looking so healthy Lee. I always look forward to your videos, and I definitely remember when the BBC went after you. My husband was taking still photos in the México City subway station and the police actually took the film from his camera. And just today I watched the police trying to rouse a guy who had overdosed on the street in midtown Manhattan. Social problems are at an all time high here in the U.S. It upsets me so much when I think of all the billions they spend to enrich the MIC. The U.S. should learn from China and invest in people and quality of life issues. I can definitely believe the amount of money you cited on taxpayer dollars being spent on anti-Chinese propaganda. It’s disgusting and morally reprehensible especially when juxtaposed with the poor guy who had OD’d that I saw today. Happy Valentine’s Day to both you and Oli and your extended families. Much Love from all of us here in the belly of the beast. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I was surprised many RUclipsrs take videos at Chinese airports because taking photos at immigration n luggage claim areas is not allowed in many Western countries, let alone videos.
I lived in China for 6 years , greatest experience of my life, I was back there in Sept 23 things change so fast, i felt as if i was in a different city, Land marks that i was accustom to were gone and a new amazing buildings took there place,
I am really glad that you seem to have completely gotten over the health issues you had a couple of years back, and recovered so well. May you stay healthy and energetic for years to come. Also hope Oli is doing well wherever he may be.
In authoritarian countries like China, Singapore, as long as the people are not involved in politics or government affairs, most of its people are happy there, These governments acts as a parental body to manage its people with their people affairs in their hearts, so those people who advocates full individual freedom, free speech will not like it. So in short, these countries is BIG government and SMALL individual full rights and most countries in the WEST is SMALL government and BIG individual full rights. But again these individual freedom are free on the surface but not really free in reality. Take for example, in the US, all the demonstrations etc. can be extremely crushed down if these become violent or with some violence. And another example, how many years have gone by, does Americans have the rights to choose which president they want. Yeah, on the surface, they have, but in reality NO, there is only 2 choice in 2024, either Biden or Trump again. The concept of democracy, votes elected election sounds good and fair but in reality NO, all the politicians, political parties are controlled by the lobbyist, the big corporations in military complex, drugs companies, healthcare companies, oil companies are controlling them. So there is no perfect government system in the world, but I definitely prefer the BIG government SMALL people system, there the government cares for its people and it is their duty unlike those system that the WEST advocates.
OK, so you prefer the BIG government SMALL people system, but the rest of the 1.4 billion Chinese do no share your preference. Why can't the rest of the 1.4 billion Chinese have their preferred SMALL government and BIG individual righs system?
@nvcxznbcxz How do you know that 1.4 billion Chinese want the communist party to control power in China? How do you know that the Chinese people do not want multi-party democracy such as that in Taiwan?
I think the younger generation are more open minded. It's the access to social media, being able to follow actual normal people instead of state propaganda.
10,000 MCdonald store by 2028. McDonald & Starbucks making tons of money from china. They even don't have to worry they have to close few store in US. Few close in US double will open in china.
Interesting. We get the same negative press about China here in Brazil. However, as an American I noticed that Brazil gets a lot of negative press in the USA. It's like they are scared of Brazil can become. So they keep their boots on other countries so they don't prosper. I am really disappointed after I realized America is such a bully. And displays a lowdown demeanor. And the US government doesn't take care of America's real problems for their own people! So, sad. However it's worse to see that there are so many people that buy into all the negative PR campaign the government spews.
I have been subscribing to your channel for 4 years, and Lee comments are quite relevant and objective. Wishing you happiness and happiness in China every day。
alanshannon3884 are a Scottish couple who travel around the world and they are enjoying China right now. Their video popped up on my recommended list yesterday. There are actually so many, and these are just the English speakers. If you make the headlines in BBC or NYT, then you know you're doing something right, with all those inconvenient truths.
@SLAVAUKRAINI-cb5vt Of course it's wrong. But it's also wrong for paid actors to pretend that they are somehow there to cause trouble and make China look bad. You think we were all born yesterday? Many of us can see right through this charade because these set-ups have been used time and time again. Slava Palestine
@SLAVAUKRAINI-cb5vt What a snowflake. That hypothetical is nothing compared to a nation using a proxy war, killing innocent Ukrainians just so they can destroy Russia (which won't happen). So cry about it. Slava Russia and China
@ 12:41 (1) It is very difficult to awaken/change people's thinking once they have been brainwashed by their governments/news media/education system from young (2) These people also tend to be from the lowly educated group and who do not have the financial means to travel abroad. So we should feel sorry for them.
Are you saying that 1.4 billion Chinese are just so stupid and incompetent that they cannot present the truth and facts about their lovely communist country to the world?
Great video thanks. I’ve lived in HK for 16 years and visit Shenzhen regularly- amazing how it’s changed over the years. When returning back to the UK it amazes me people’s comments on Hk and China and have never visited. There’s much more than the propaganda spread by the BBC
@samcoatham2400 It's amazing here; very safe, developing, not a dictatorship like the British MSM always spouts. Many business opportunities, affordable housing and food.
You should also mention the old timers like Blondie in China and Katherine. They are non political but does a great job in showing the real China without any agendas.
I've been to China and I had a fantastic time. It was absolutely nothing like it's portrayed online and in the media. As for being a "police state" I couldn't see any difference between it and here frankly except maybe there was a lot less crime and it was cleaner.
Where are you from? And when are you going to take out Chinese citizenship and renounce your Western citizenship? Actions speak louder than words, and no actions speak louder than that of renouncing a Western citizenship to take up that of communist China.
Does Goebbels effect work? Maybe it can cover up for a moment. A society, a organization or a person that relies on slander to cover up the truth is pitiful and pathetic. Barrett, you are doing a right thing-- tell the truth. Keep it up and enjoy your life.
I filmed some of my trip to Guangzhou & its bay area to document my trip in fall of 2019. I was hesitant to film in airports, subways & generally everywhere from what I saw in western media about China surveillance. Not once was I stopped by police in GZ, airport, subways, malls or about & I looked like a local too, being ethnic Chinese.
I think youtube is limiting the exposures of your videos (500 likes at only 1700 views? lol...). So I always watch through all the ads on your channel, hopefully that will bring you a little more revenue, that's the least I can do to show my support.
I've visited China 10 times. Like all news you see and hear, you have to weed out the garbage. My videos show how people live, travel and enjoy life in China. If you travel to China, do some research and you should be good. China trips are very adventurous.
Mate, you reminded me when I went to Hawaii. I hired a car and drove around the island of Oahu pre GPS days. I accidentally drove to the boom gates on a windy road of a USA military base. I was approach by the USA Military Police who were not very happy with me and I was absolutely frightened. But I was saved by my Aussie Accent, which they found charming and realise that I was an idiot. The officers were very good to me and helped me get back on track.
My favorite is when someone debunks China myths on RUclips, there are always some smartasses in the comments who write, “10,000 social credits for you”-thinking they’re being clever, but unaware that the story of the Chinese social credits is also a Western myth.
Great video! Thank you for being a force for good in the midst of confusion and chaos. It takes a lot of dedication and courage to be a voice for truth and good causes.
The issue is it hurts when finding the truth is not the thing one has been believing for years. No matter how many evidence showed, how it is proved, most people will just find excuses to deni it.

I have been coming to China since 2007 and it is an excellent and safe place to visit, I would not walk around late at night in my home town in Australia. When I first came the air in Guangzhou was a bit polluted but now it is hugely better😊
PM of Singapore once said Singapore outshines Beijing because it has blue sky. China pollution management is so effective that it now has Blue sky for most part of the year.
So funny, Singapore the size of a city in China trying to compare to a continental sized country with a population of 1.4 billion. That's like comparing London with Europe. Silly 😂
@@WalkingSideways you miss the point. In the earlier days of rapid development, China air quality is so badly polluted that the sky is grayish throughout the year. At the initial stage, China aims to have 100 days a year of clear sky. Today, China leads the world in carbon emission reduction resulting in blue sky for most part of the world.

The anti-China reporting by the western media is dishonest and ignorant. China is a great civilisation coming out of a bad patch for a few centuries. Here is a western mainstream media indoctrinated moron parroting it's stupidity. Got no shame and grey shits in its brain.@KrazyManuel_K
There’s nothing like visiting China and experience for yourself.
Couldn't agree more with everything you said.
US election slogan: 'For the people, by the people' ... NOT!

Dear professor lake1963,
I guess the reasons many people in the West do not believe in a changing and better China are as follows:
* They keep seeing electric cars and motorcycles temperamentally combust into flames.
@SLAVAUKRAINI-cb5vt MAGA inline with Taiwan1450 Falun Gong Cults and NFSC Himalaya that scam Americans UK Money laundering and Capitol Attack
China is not an aggressive nation? Based on what evidence?

Many times, Chinese social media would be outraged about how lenient the Chinese police is to the foreigners misbehaving. Tere are bad apples everywhere. And the Pianist story - Chinese people on Chinese social media also criticized the Chinese tourists from that video.

and on the other side, the British guy somehow thought insulting Xi with winnie the poo would make her feel terrible, which is as ridiculous as saying insults to President Biden must mean it s an insult to every American. You can still buy winnie the poo in Shanghai Disney land, so insisting it is somehow an insult is itself ridiculous.

Fun Fact: London is the city with most cameras in the entire world. But nobody complained about that ;)
Yes I saw a post about that several years ago about London survellance and only a few people were against it.

There is so much inaccurate information about China, the ignorance. If you are ignorant about anything then go learn about it. If you are ignorant about a country go visit that country, and find out for yourself.
Absolutely right.
Truths are often difficult to comprehend, most folks chose the easy path, ignore them. 🤫

Interesting. We get the same negative press about China here in Brazil.
However, as an American I noticed that Brazil gets a lot of negative press in the USA. It's like they are scared of Brazil can become. So they keep their boots on other countries so they don't prosper. I am really disappointed after I realized America is such a bully. And displays a lowdown demeanor. And the US government doesn't take care of America's real problems for their own people! So, sad. However it's worse to see that there are so many people that buy into all the negative PR campaign the government spews.
