Sharing below written by a Malaysian RUclipsr:
I’m from Malaysia. China has traded with Malaysia for 2000 years. In those years, they had been the world’s biggest powers many times. Never once they sent troops to take our land. Admiral Zhenghe came to Malacca five times, in gigantic fleets, and a flagship eight times the size of Christopher Columbus’ flagship, Santa Maria. He could have seized Malacca easily, but he did not. In 1511, the Portuguese came. In 1642, the Dutch came. In the 18th century the British came. We were colonised by each, one after another.
When China wanted spices from India, they traded with the Indians. When they wanted gems, they traded with the Persian. They didn’t take lands. The only time China expanded beyond their current borders was in Yuan Dynasty, when Genghis and his descendants Ogedei Khan, Guyuk Khan & Kublai Khan concurred China, Mid Asia and Eastern Europe. But Yuan Dynasty, although being based in China, was a part of the Mongolian Empire.
Then came the Century of Humiliation. Britain smuggled opium into China to dope the population, a strategy to turn the trade deficit around, after the British could not find enough silver to pay the Qing Dynasty in their tea and porcelain trades. After the opium warehouses were burned down and ports were closed by the Chinese in ordered to curb opium, the British started the Opium War I, which China lost. Hong Kong was forced to be surrendered to the British in a peace talk (Nanjing Treaty). The British owned 90% of the opium market in China, during that time, Queen Victoria was the world’s biggest drug baron. The remaining 10% was owned by American merchants from Boston. Many of Boston’s institutions were built with profit from opium.
After 12 years of Nanjing Treaty, the West started getting really really greedy. The British wanted the Qing government:
    1. To open the borders of China to allow goods coming in and out freely, and tax free.
    2. Make opium legal in China.
Insane requests, Qing government said no. The British and French (with supports from the US), started Opium War II with China, which again, China lost. The Anglo-French military raided the Summer Palace, and threatened to burn down the Imperial Palace, the Qing government was forced to pay with ports, free business zones, 300,000 kilograms of silver and Kowloon was taken. Since then, China’s resources flew out freely through these business zones and ports. In the subsequent amendment to the treaties, Chinese people were sold overseas to serve as labor.
In 1900, China suffered attacks by the 8-National Alliance. These ,8-Robbers were: Empire of Japan, Russian Empire, British Empire (including India), France, USA, Germany, Italy and Austria-Hungary. Innocent Chinese civilians in Peking (Beijing now) were murdered, buildings were destroyed & women were raped. The Imperial Palace was raided, and treasures ended up in museums like the British Museum in London and the Louvre in Paris.
In late 1930s China was occupied by the Japanese in WWII. Millions of Chinese died during the occupancy. 300,000 Chinese died in Nanjing Massacre alone.
Mao brought China together again from the shambles. There were peace and unity for some time. But Mao’s later reign saw sufferings and deaths from famine and power struggles.
Then came Deng Xiao Ping and his infamous “black-cat and white-cat” story. His preference in pragmatism than ideologies has transformed China. This thinking allowed China to evolve all the time to adapt to the actual needs in the country, instead of rigidly bounded to ideologies. It also signified the death of Communism in actually practice in China. The current Socialism+Meritocracy+Market Economy model fits the Chinese like gloves, and it propels the uprise of China. Singapore has a similar model, and has been arguably more successful than Hong Kong, because Hong Kong being gateway to China, was riding on the economic boom in China, while Singapore had no one to gain from.
In just 30 years, the CPC have moved 800 millions of people out from poverty. The rate of growth is unprecedented in human history. They have built the biggest mobile network, by far the biggest high speed rail network in the world, and they have become a behemoth in infrastructure. They made a fishing village called Shenzhen into the world’s second largest technological centre after the Silicon Valley. They are growing into a technological power house. It has the most elaborate e-commerce and cashless payment system in the world. They have launched exploration to Mars. The Chinese are living a good life and China has become one of the safest countries in the world. The level of patriotism in the country has reached an unprecedented height.
For all of the achievements, the West has nothing good to say about it. China suffers from intense anti-China propagandas from the West. Western Media used the keyword “Communist” to instil fear and hatred towards China.
Everything China does is negatively reported.
They claimed China used slave labor in making iPhones. The truth was, Apple was the most profitable company in the world, it took most of the profit, leave some to Foxconn (a Taiwanese company) and little to the labor.
They claimed China was inhuman with one-child policy. At the same time, they accused China of polluting the earth with its huge population. The fact is the Chinese consume just 30% of energy per capita compared to the US.
They claimed China underwent ethnic cleansing in Xinjiang. The fact is China has a policy which priorities ethnic minorities. For a long time, the ethnic minorities were allowed to have two children and the majority Han only allowed one. The minorities are allowed a lower score for university intakes. There are 39,000 mosque in China, and 2100 in the US. China has about 3 times more mosque per muslim than the US.
When terrorist attacks happened in Xinjiang, China had two choices:
    1. Re-educate the Uighur extremists before they turned terrorists.
    2. Let them be, after they launch attacks and killed innocent people, bomb their homes.
China chose 1 to solve problem from the root and not to do killing. How the US solve terrorism? Fire missiles from battleships, drop bombs from the sky.
    During the pandemic,
When China took extreme measures to lockdown the people, they were accused of being inhuman.
When China recovered swiftly because of the extreme measures, they were accused of lying about the actual numbers.
When China’s cases became so low that they could provide medical support to other countries, they were accused of politically motivated.
Western Media always have reasons to bash China.
Just like any country, there are irresponsible individuals from China which do bad and dirty things, but the China government overall has done very well. But I hear this comment over and over by people from the West: I like Chinese people, but the CPC is evil. What they really want is the Chinese to change the government, because the current one is too good.
Fortunately China is not a multi-party democratic country, otherwise the opposition party in China will be supported by notorious NGOs (Non-Government Organization) of the USA, like the NED (National Endowment for Democracy), to topple the ruling party. The US and the British couldn’t crack Mainland China, so they work on Hong Kong. Of all the ex-British colonial countries, only the Hong Kongers were offered BNOs by the British. Because the UK would like the Hong Kongers to think they are British citizens, not Chinese. A divide-and-conquer strategy, which they often used in Color Revolutions around the world.
They resort to low dirty tricks like detaining Huawei’s CFO & banning Huawei. They raised a silly trade war which benefits no one. Trade deficit always exist between a developing and a developed country. USA is like a luxury car seller who ask a farmer: why am I always buying your vegetables and you haven’t bought any of my cars?
When the Chinese were making socks for the world 30 years ago, the world let it be. But when Chinese started to make high technology products, like Huawei and DJI, it caused red-alert. Because when Western and Japanese products are equal to Chinese in technologies, they could never match the Chinese in prices. First world countries want China to continue in making socks. Instead of stepping up themselves, they want to pull China down.
The recent movement by the US against China has a very important background. When Libya, Iran, and China decided to ditch the US dollar in oil trades, Gaddafi’s was killed by the US, Iran was being sanctioned by the US, and now it’s China’s turn. The US has been printing money out of nothing. The only reason why the US Dollar is still widely accepted, is because it’s the only currency which oil is allowed to be traded with. The US has an agreement with Saudi that oil must be traded in US dollar ONLY. Without the petrol-dollar status, the US dollars will sink, and America will fall. Therefore anyone trying to disobey this order will be eliminated. China will soon use a gold-backed crypto-currency, the alarms in the White House go off like mad.
China’s achievement has been by hard work. Not by looting the world.
I have deep sympathy for China for all the suffering, but now I feel happy for them. China is not rising, they are going back to where they belong. Good luck China.

The western world should have realised by now that the riots in Hong Kong had nothing to do with democracy but a U.S. ruse to destabilise China.

Agreed with everything except hk and the rest. As someone who knows about foreign/western imperialism, does he expect china to allow foreign countries to meddle and control it's domestic politics, even supporting separatists factions and trying to divide and break apart china? Yanis knows the answer to this question, so I don't know why he said he supports the students, who are most likely to be the more violent and radical of the protesters. He should have just said he supports peaceful protests, but the students were anything but peaceful. Didn't he see when they took over a few universities and turned them into a fortress to make thousands of Molotov fire bombs? Does he support that? Of course not. That's the majority of the students, and "bringing mainland down with Hong Kong" was their main tactic and strategy. Their spokesperson joey siu went on Germany's DW and would not even denounce a rioter who tried to kill a cop with a knife completely unprovoked.

@Yanis, I agreed alot with you, but for some support what you give to some, is very strange.
HK riots started with Taiwan, as you know about the murder of a young prengnant lady.
Taiwan asked HK to handover the murderer, HK has to introduce a law. When the riot began, Taiwan cancelled the handover off the murderer.
If you did some backgroundchecking of the HK riot parties and also the leaders of it, you will find that they are sponsert by the NED. Incase you do not know, National Endowment for Democracy (probebly also active in Greece).
Isnt it also very strange that you visit the US, see congress, and asked them for all kinds of help openly.
And showing the flag of foreign countries in China, because you want to be one of the foreign country.
Beating up people who are not agree with you. Have you seen the pictures off beatenup elderly, policemen stabbed with knives?
Please also do a backgroundcheck of the president of Taiwan and her ministers, you will also see that they are sponsert by the NED.
Taiwan is already an onofficial state of the US, used as a proxy.
    Uighers, this is already debunked.
It's report was written by someone called Adrian Zenz, and ASPI from australia. As you know ASPI is sponsert by defence industrie.
There are no proves and facts.

@Shimmy Shai If anyone have basic common sense and logic, would know there is no genocide in Xinjiang, cause the Uighur ethnic group is quite large compared to before.
How can a population grow if there is genocide?
The Han Chinese is doing a great job educating and helping the other ethnic groups to grow and becoming fully integrated with other ethnic groups under the leadership of President Xi Jinping.
Another reason, why the news are fake...When the Uighur woman was interviewed, she stumbled upon answering the question how many Uighur are in the concentration camp and then she said, 3M+! This clearly explain, it was a lie. She had no clue how much space it takes to house 3M+ people.
Another pointer, many of these Uighur were educated and radicalized by the USA to fight the government, just like what the USA are doing at other countries. After 2016, there hasn't been any Uighur extremist activities in Xinjiang.
Myanmar is one of the best example of foreign power influence the people to fight its own government! The coup was really to stop the BRI project, it was never about the benefit of the Myanmar people.
Even the HK riot! Those HK people were educated and radicalized by the PTA that was part of the NED, while the NED is funded by USAID that is part of the CIA program to train people to fight their own government in the named of so called freedom, right, and democracy.

And see how they live in poverty in “reservations”, while their lands continue to be taken away to build oil and gas pipelines, or for resource extraction, eg oil, shale, coal etc. Same thing happens in Australia and Canada as well. @Robert Leruyet Oh interesting you should want to know, I voted for Mar Roxas, who lost in a landslide to Rodrigo Duterte. Prior to that, I voted for a capable guy named Gilberto Teodoro, who lost in a landslide to Benigno Aquino. Prior to that I voted for another losing candidate, but that one was pretty predictable, because Gloria Arroyo was in the unique position of being a sitting president (having overthrown Joseph Estrada) not barred by the one-term limit, and some say she rigged the election in her favor. Before that, I voted for long-time mayor of Manila, Alfredo Lim, but he lost to the popular actor Joseph Estrada despite his reputation as a womanizing, heavy-drinking sloth. So yeah, I've voted in quite a few national elections, ain't much to write home about, mate. I at least pretend my vote will matter election after election, but some 10 million eligible Filipinos don't even register or turn up. So maybe, speaking as someone who lives in a democratic country, I am in a position to say, if 95.5% of the Chinese are happy with their guy in office (Harvard survey says they are), even if they didn't get to elect him in a popular election, they don't need to break what's working for them to satisfy the West's idea of a "correct" political system. Their guy is delivering good governance to them, whereas here, we keep listening to campaign promises every 6 years, choose one of a handful, declare the most popular guy the president, and wait impatiently for the next 6 years to pass because we realized the election yielded another incompetent president. By the way, the 95.5% of Chinese who say they're happy, is 10x the population of the Philippines. That tells me I have am in no position to tell them we're better here in the Philippines because hey, we have national elections.

case 1: clearing up the whole HK, Uyghur propaganda is simply political suicide in the west, or you are concerned about your own safety from CIA.
case 2: as a former high ranked official in EU, you REALLY don't know what's actually happening in HK and Xinjiang, which is hard for me to believe.
I don't know where to start, but for high intellectuals as yourself, how can you believe in such silly propaganda???????
In a whole year of HK rioters vandalizing public facilities, beating up people who they don't agree with or look like mainland Chinese, stabbing police with knifes, setting old man on fire because they don't agree with him and everything else, a whole freaking year, there is ZERO confirmed death caused by HK police, ZERO. all the tragedies I mentioned are very easy to search on YT for anyone with basic Chinese.
For the uyghurs, MSM kept on saying Millions of uyghurs are forced to pick cottons on the fields and held in prison....I can't believe there are people actually believing in that, I don't even need you to search for YT channels of some uyghurs, where they show us how the cotton-picking machine works(yes, this is 21th century and machine replaced people already in many industries). Just answer me one thing, if millions of people are working on cotton fields under the sunlight, WHY THERE IS NOT EVEN ONE PHOTO from U.S sattelites??? If you really curious about what's happening there, just go to Xinjiang or at least check their Vloggers on YT....It's mind boggling that people intelligent as you to fall in such simple BS. Will you do the same if it were to happen in your own country ? What China has done to Greece is a clear indication on how China tretes its own citizens... Greece was pariahed by some EU members and imposed great obstacles for Greece to pay back its debts leaving no avenue for Greece to get back on its feet again until China willingly lend a helping hand without any conditions
to Greece and because of this some EU members were not too happy and bear grudge against

And none of both can be less rejectable/ugly by changing its decoration or the adminstration system. The true liberation is from life not in life.

I love how the finance minister of a country in an absolute economic collapse is lecturing us that countries with incredibly strong economies and high standards of living are stupid and smack of idiocy. So along with financial understanding, we can strike irony off the list of things Yanis understands.

That's how grateful the US is when China saved them during the 2008 crash. I disagree with your assessments of the HK police. The HK students beaten up by the Police? Did you see how these rioters tried to grab the policeman's gun? How these rioters beat up innocent HK citizens when they tried to clear the roadblocks and got hit on the head with a steel plate? the taxi driver who got beaten up so badly that he needed to be hospitalised? All of these were not reported in the western media and hence you did not see them.

The first cold war was about stopping the spread of communism by the Soviet Union. The consequence of that included many countries receiving independence particularly from the UK which was pressured by the US to do so, as the Soviet Union was using having colonies against it, as not a sincere champion for freedom, but hypocritical. Decolonization sped up the decline of British power.
The cold war with the Soviet Union also influenced the US civil rights movement as some argued that it pushed the US to end segregation as the Soviet Union used this against the US. Is there a new cold war and what will be the consequence? Even nuclear proliferation in the 60s was due to the cold war.

When Yanis Varoufakis was the finance minister of Greece, I thought he was just a populist idiot, because that’s was what he was portrayed to be by the mainstream media, including Bloomberg News. Many years later, after he stepped down, I chanced upon a RUclips video of him speaking and after listening to him in person, I realized how wrong I have been all along. Varoukakis is just such an incredible man: intelligent, analytical, objective, rational.

That's why his comments about Xinjiang and HK blew it and raises eyebrows? Disappointing!!! He is right about "No Cold War" but his comments are contradictory in that western politicians and MSM are basing their cold war push on the fake news of Xinjiang and HK to incite war and he repeats their nonsense propaganda? Difficult to understand? Maybe he thinks and says these things as a compromise to convince western populations but isn't this a disservice as people need to face true facts. Indeed, our world and humanity need cooperation and peace, not confrontation and war. Truly, Make Love, Not War!!!

US grand strategy or century is dominant with military might, nuclear arms and USD. US operate more than 800 military bases, 200 bio labs around the world. With such power, they can almost do what they want, regime change, alienated countries, dictate rules, expansionary ambitious and maintain hegemony. US is a great leader in formation of military alliances such as NATO, Quads, AUKUS, instead of partnership for peace and development.
Question is, can the US lead cold war able to contain China? Are US & allies prepared to lead a hot war on China without hurting themselves?
China is not USSR or any other MidEast or Latin counties that US had alienated. China is a major economic engine that trade with more than three of quarter of the world which includes US and all allies. Striking a hot war on China will ignite China's the bears, rocket man and partners that either push back US and allies or worst scenario lead to devastating doomsday consequences which may be irreversible.

If Varoufakis is such a great democrat, why when he was Finance Minister of Greece, did he ignore the people to mingle with World elites as if he could go at it alone, as if he alone could speak reason to evil? That's not how a democrat takes on such forces. Yanis loves the camera a bit too much to be true democrat.

@@yapkent Yanis' main point and message is about American hypocrisy, double-standards while waving the flag of rules-based order. At the end, he saw the need to establish his cred as an anti-authoritarian stalwart. Nothing wrong with that, but he chose the wrong examples of Xinjiang and Hong Kong, which if he did a bit more research, are clear western propaganda and destabilization operations, something he strongly objects to.
