I am 80 plus and watching Hollywood movies from late 1950s and is in US and the irony is most admired and award winning acting of Hollywood are over acting as per US acting standard.
Dear Mr. ARS, there is no need to explain the greatness of Sivaji Ganesan. Fools will remain so..... anyone with half a brain cell will know he's the university in acting. Thank goodness he's born in Tamil. What a gift for acting & Thamizh language.

The Ten Commandments and Ben Hur are both fully stage-like productions with highly formal language. Both are at the top of the Oscar list. I think Benhur is tops with #12. Even the mighty Titanic came close but could not dethrone Ben Hur! In the movie industry what the cinema patrons feel is paramount. Sivaji is a brand that lasted nearly 1.5 generations and nearly 200 (?) movies. Show me one other actor with such an incredible variety of movies and roles. Not just in TN or Mumbai, but even Hollywood! As a child, I thought Sivaji WAS Kattabomman and VOC and Thirunavukkarasar! Not just played. I do not give a damn what these critics and 2-3 movie wonders comment! End of story!
