Very very welcome. We also live in Germany and I can imagine you got some rude looks stopping a bus, here is so easy to make someone angry LOL. That’s also something different you will notice, everyone is like having a great day everyday, amazing! Have a great time there!
It is not really necessary to hail the bus per say, the busses will stop if you simply walk a couple steps forward from your bus shed or start reaching into your pocket for your phone, the driver know what to look for, as locals we simply "ignore" the bus if we are waiting for another route and most of the time the driver picks up on that and drives by, sometimes tho he stops for you and it can be a bit awkward when he realise you are waiting for another bus hehe.
@donkrkonto thanks for the feedback. Being local it may be common sense to know that, but for us being from Spain and Germany was definitely not 😅. We missed one night bus because we were sitting on the bus station hoping the bus sees us being the only people in that station and stops, which is what it would have happened in our countries. Well, it was an experience and it definitely makes sense, I agree.

Hi @1391mad You can take the Bus 40 or 42 from the airport ("Tromsø lufthavn" ) to Tromso city (as example: "Nerstranda"). I checked it right now in the app Entur and there are buses every 10 minutes from 5am to 00:05 so almost 24hours. It costs around 40 Kr/4€ (that I checked in the app Troms Billet). I hope it helps :)

Regarding your questions: We went from Tromso city to Laksvatn by public bus and it took around 45 minutes to bring us to the specific bus stop we needed (which was the last one, named "Laksvatn" too). Then you can just walk 15 minutes to the cabin we rented. I am checking it now in the app and you can take either the bus 100 or the 160 (the 412 also goes there but it takes way more time) and there are buses every hour more or less. The first bus is at 6:21am and the last one is at 21:00. Did I answer your questions? Let me know if I let something or if you have further questions 🤗

Will take your advice and book direct through the airline 😀Also, do you recommend visiting in January or February? January has whale watching but February has more daylight! Can't decide 🤣
Yes exactly 😂, better book your plane ticket wit Norwegian airline or Trip.com which has sometimes cheaper prices. During our trip from late January to mid-February, we experienced good daylight. Enough to do some day adventures or pictures. Even during the darkness, it was never completely dark due to the reflection of snow and clouds, which created an unusual light at night.
Oh and one thing, we went to whale watching too. You can take a look at the video I posted about “Tromsø adventures” and check out the whale activity and some more (I put links and prices). Let me know if it helped ❤
Hi there. Yes they accept card. Our card happens to be a debit visa and it was with no problem. I googled about credit cards and apparently taxis there also accept credit cards. It should be no problem. About Uber, we did not use Uber there so I am not sure. Anything I can help, please ask. Have an amazing journey!

Hi there 🤚 Exactly, simply enter your current location or the street where you are in the taxi app without specifying the destination. Taxis in Tromsø are aware of this but we did not see any info in the app 😅. Also, taxis arrive to you super fast so you will not need to wait much time to see they really come to you without destination 😊. Have lots of fun there!

Hi there👋 We only used Taxi in Tromso but I imagine it is a general thing to let the destination empty for ocasions where you just want to pick up something from the hotel and come back. The money would be in this case calculated inside the taxi, with the old fashion automatic counter. Everyone in Norway (from taxi drivers to people walking on the streets) was extremly nice and spoke perfect english, I believe you won't experience any problem. We are going again to Norway also mid october, maybe our paths cross and we can order the taxi together XD. All the best for your journey

Hi there! Totally! We went to Norway end January to first week February and we saw plenty. I bet you won’t have issues, just follow the little steps I explain in the other video of Tromso on how to hunt the auroras better and it will be easy 🎊 enjoy your adventure!
@@Nature4U1No guarantee though. I was in Tromsø 8-11th of February, didn´t see the northern lights at all. Not even at an 8 hour "northern lights chase" bus trip, or at the top of Fjellheisen, despite having lots of clear weather.

Is there a designated bus stop or you just wave anywhere you are then the bus will stop? I am really interested the transportation in tromso because we will go there too . Thanks in advance
Hi @lolangtamad8591. Interesting question. Buses stop only at bus stops when signaled by someone waiting there or when someone inside wants to go off the bus. This is specially important at night as it can be you are the only one and if you don’t wave them, they assume you are waiting for another bus and they don’t stop. @lolangtamad8591 We went on January/February last year and the night started soon but you were never on the dark because of the big amount of (white) snow and the sky was weirdly light even when cloudy. Also, as you said, people in Norway is very friendly. I’m sure you are going to have an amazing time there!

It is possible, but much difficult than outside the city. One thing to consider is that Auroras occur very very often, but they are above the clouds so it is the cloud condition what makes you see them or not. In tromso city we had always plenty of light pollutions (city clouds) and that made the auroras to be not visible. Oh and you can also check the Tromso Live Webcame so you get a real feeling about the auroras in the city weather.cs.uit.no they even have Timelapse videos so you can quickly check how the entire night looked for many many days
As I show in the video, in the bus station info panel , bus drivers expect us to clearly signify we want them to stop. We did not read that until it happened to us twice, that the bus did not stop. If you did not experience if it’s also fine but it is better people knows about it in case they loose a late night bus.

One thing to consider is that Auroras occur very very often, but they are above the clouds so it is the cloud condition what makes you see them or not.
