Just a tip Gabe, you should turn your gain on your Hollyland's down a few db. You've been peaking on your audio recently a lot and I bet it's a gain level issue. On topic: I got a Maltby 60 degree coming in the mail here due to your review of Maltby! Really appreciate you looking out for the people who don't want to spend $200 on a Vokey.
Thanks Steve. Let me know how you like the wedges.
Good video Gabe. Glad to see you give Maltby some more love.
Good video Gabe. It's always nice to know alternatives. The big brands have become too expensive.
Watched this video several times! Excellent! I have the MacGregor MT Milled irons. They are everything you say they are! Love them! More important, how is your health? You really look good with your weight loss! Stay healthy, stay safe!
what handicap are they for?
@@dogsarefun2 Scratch to 15 or so. They are forgiving and long as well. Great looking and performing club, in my opinion.
That was a great video!
Please continue to show us more about the Maltese in the direct consumer brands; not only do they look gorgeous, but they’re such a great value if you know what they compete with.
This video was a great idea! You’ve got a terrific channel… always valuable information for us mere mortals 😉
Glad it was helpful!
The Maltby TE+ v4 in that pearl/Ping style finish...one for the "retro" gear fans out there,, Only miles better.
Great video Gabe. Good alternatives to consider. You do the work testing and we get the benefits.
Great idea for a video!! Love it! Well done Gabe
Thanks 🙏
Kirkland wedges are on another level!! The only issue was I gained 6-7 yards in distance so I had to adjust, but I love em!!
indeed, massive bang for the buck. what were you playing before them?
@@LetsPlayThru Taylormade MG1's
I’m saving up for Toura J-CBs after seeing your original video. Gonna be a while though. Still, when that day comes, whoa Nelly!!
I was so close to getting the mt milled till 20% of at sub70 and i picked up the 699...i still love the mt milled look!
Great video again. Enjoyed the good comparisons. I think you could’ve found a place for the Maltby TS3 & 4
I agree 👍
The Maltby TS3 was your highest ranking club in your review with a stellar score of 98 The TS3 should have definitely got some more love
I love My Malby TS3 butter iron set
Where do the TS3 from Maltby fit in? I thought they were the best you played this year?!
They are indeed. But I was going for clubs that were similar here and also did not want to duplicate brands I mentioned.
What he means to say is that Maltby has a club that fits in each category, but we have to be fair to all the others 😜
😂
Excellent...more videos like this! Shared it with my nephew already.
As always, a FANtastic job with the content you give us mereMortals
@@FranciscoRZayas appreciate it
I think the Maltby TS3 Irons should have been your choice for the DTC Brand over the TS1 IM Irons .
The Maltby TS3 Irons were the highest Ranking Club in your review with a stellar Score of 98
Was thinking the same
Was gonna ask why he chose the TS1 IM instead of TS3.
Elsewhere in the comments Gabe wrote he didn't want to use the same DTC brand twice. The other reason is the TS1 IM is most similar in construction to the Ping i530.
@@petrotmyrcz308 yeah but Gabe ranked them higher then the TS1 IM Irons.
So therefore he should have put the TS3 (Gabes highest Ranking Irons 98) as the DTC Irons ahead of the TS1 IM Irons..!
@@TestStripSteve Steve. I reiterated what Gabe wrote! He's trying to make an apples to apples comparison, not the highest ranked clubs. Take it up with him if you disagree.
Thanks so much. I've been tempted the last several years to get some new clubs but the price always causes me pause.
The Takomo 101s model that you lent me certainly did impress. I’m guessing the 101 probably are a bit longer. That was the only difference as far as I can see between the 790s and the 101s was the distance. It was about a club length.
Great commentary and summary
Thanks
Great idea for a video!
Love this. Thank you. I’m a fan of the Toura. My next build.
I think you’re going to love them
Good summary
Great video Gabe!!! Love the idea of this video!! Brilliant 🎉
Thanks man
Great video.... As someone in the market for a set of irons, I'm even more torn😋. I just wish you could get fit for some of these lesser known brands.
Andrew, if you get a proper fitting, Maltby (Golfworks) will build your set to your spec's. No need to travel to their HQ. Not sure about other makers.
@@petrotmyrcz308 thanks man 👍. I got fitted for forged 923's yesterday.... So here we go!🤣🤘
This was very interesting. Thank you. 😊😊😊😊
Nice! Good job!
Great info, Gabe. Thanks for the info.
Great video, lots of great info!
Those Mizuno look like an old Nickent Genex Arc Titanium.
Maltby TS3 Forged Iron Set ..!
Hello Gabe, I'm just wondering what club would you compare the maltby ts3 iron to? I appreciate all your videos, keep them coming!
TS3 players will tell you it has no equal.
Hi Gabe haven’t had time to tune in for quite some time. Are you going to any reviews on the new Calloway Apex Ai 200s and 300s
If so could talk how they would compare to the Paradyms?
I play these now.
Thx!
Should review Haywoods irons another GREAT budget brand and I would love to hear your thoughts on them
Ts1im
I am going to get new irons this next season and i cannot decide between the Takomo and the Dynapower. I'm a high handicap right now, normally 105 to 110 for 18 holes, what would you suggest between the two?
Dynapower
Gabe ive got a set of Takomo 101's and really like them but im having a little trouble keeping them straight(I know its me not the club). I was going to ask if you think the wilson dynapower would help with that or just something I need to work on. Thanks man
You've got nice modern sticks in the Takomo so I think better to invest in some lessons rather than another set. Wish you luck!
Gabe would you prefer the Maltby TS1 or the Maltby TS3....I want one of them but having trouble deciding. Thanks and love the videos!!
Personally for me I think the TS3 is the winner.
I feel like in most hobbies the budget category is usually best value: good enough performance for the price, but there'll be compromises. It sounds like for golf, these irons are literally equal performance for half the cost. Are there any physical downsides to using these budget options? DTC makes sense why some of the costs would be lower, and I feel like some of these brands don't spend nearly as much on marketing either. Other than brand loyalty/looks, is there any reason to grab a pair of the mainstream options?
Love the content. You do not make it easy to choose an iron set.
Technically the Toura irons are $700 for just the heads. Shafts and grips is an additional $225
Awesome video Gabe! A question for Gabe or anyone else, Do you think a mid-high handicapper can get away with TS1-IM vs the takomo 101, or would you recommend forged cavity back like TS3? I would ideally like to go with the TS1 IM or the 101s but not sure which is more forgiving. FYI my handicap is a 24. Thanks!
I think they’re about equally as forgiving. TS1-IM is pretty amazing.
I like my TS1-IMs!
I like the new content vs the typical golf videos of reviews and swings, however you got the price wrong on some of these. I don't mean because it was a different price a point in time but some of the quotes you stated (I checked hours after you uploaded the video) are iron heads only and not with shafts and grips, which would inflate the price. Just wanted to highlight that but thank you for the content
can you do something available in left hand
i can tell you been hitting the gym lately. looking good
Thanks 🙌
Where u see Kirkland gen2 in LH? I thought they simply don’t exist
HEY Gabe how are ya ? I currently play the stealth irons and am looking to change them next year what are your thoughts on the Wilson Dynapower Forged is it a better club do you think or would i be better to go with Takomo 101's or the PXG Black Ops irons by the way i am about a 9 handicap but do like the golf friendly irons great video by the way cheers from Vulcan Canada
I’d def go hit the Dynapwr forged at a local shop, that’s my pick
Hi Gabe, long time watcher first time commenting. I am a relatively new golfer who has over the past 2/3 years gone from a 28+ hc to a now +18 hc. I currently have an old set of irons and have been saving for takomo 101t set for a while. Suddenly maltby are on my radar of which I know nothing about. I expect the new irons to last me 5+ years.
What would your thoughts be?
Congrats on the improvement. I would lean Maltby these days but tbh, both are great options. See if you can order one single iron to test Maltby I’d say.
@@LetsPlayThru thanks for the response, it’s just difficult with the direct to consumer brands and being a customer who doesn’t want to waste money. Much love from New Zealand
No LH ! Except Takomo 101( owner 😊)
Mt milled are lh
When will you announce give aways?
Hey Gabe,
I’m thinking of changing irons, playing HCP 18. Seen the Takomos and can’t decide between 101 or 101s. But also have seen Caley make almost identical clubs, have you tried them?
The other brand I have seen is RAM FXT but having watch your review these seem to be more for beginners?
101 better for your handicap. Yes I have tried the Caleys and the Rams. All fairly similar so go with the best deal / availability.
Hey Gabe, looking to buy new irons. Would you recommend the Maltby ts3, the ts1- IM or the macgreggor mt milled? Thanks in advance!
Really impossible for me to make that call. Only thing I can say is go back to those reviews and see which characteristics the clubs have that appeal to you and your game.
@@LetsPlayThru 😂😂 thanks a lot! Let me help you, I am a 17 year old guy who is a mid handicap golfer. I’ll narrow it down to 2 options, ts3 and macgregor mt milled. What would you pick knowing that?
TS3 will be less demanding. @@shawdaves8162
SHIP STICKS ROCKS
They do indeed
Callaway irons vs Wilson is not a valid comparison.
Callaway irons have graphite shafts. Wilson irons are steel.
Hey Gabe, my name is Garry and I'm a Product Specialist/Social Media Content Creator for a secondhand golf retailer known as Next Round Golf in Richmond, Virginia. I know you're all about savings and showing that you can have a great time on the course for less, and I was wondering if you'd possibly like to collaborate on a video to show that you can indeed golf on a budget. If this sounds cool, let me know.
Hey Gary, shoot me an email and we can discuss.
👏🏻👏🏻
does anyone no where i can get a set of the maltby irons ne or 2nd hand ? if i buy them from usa i have to pay tax on shipment to england and id rather not do that !
cheers everyone
Any advice @AZstu324 ?
@@LetsPlayThru Man I wish I had an answer for this one. I do remember someone from Australia possibly talking about a workaround in one of your other videos but I can't remember who. I'll see if I can do some digging
