bard in early game. life cleric in late game.
I will never understand people that make these beginer tutorial videos and just casually include end game fight spoilers talking over them.... like wtf
I mean life domain cleric gets an AoE heal that recharges with short rest so...he's kinda awesome
it heals like 7 HP though
@@Jim2point0More than enough to get _multiple_ party members back up and into the frey, which is the optimal time to heal anyway.
@@Jim2point0no. Mine heals like 32
@@Jim2point0 21 at lv 7 to every party member, plus a ton more on themself. I respecced Shadowheart from trickery to life and it feels a lot more sustainable.
@omnidragon42 probably the best QOL improvement to shadowheart is doing just that. Spec her ability score properly and go life domain. Pair this with heavy armor and warding bond and you've got quite a solid support
Thx for the video. You know of the great things I have found playing in EA, is that one can really put together a party of 4 that do not fit the definition of Frontline, Support and Casting. I have had success with LiteCleric/Shadowheart/Gale/Astarian and ValorBard/Astarian/Gale/Shadowheart. also BerserkerBarbar/Lazeal/Shadowheart/Wyll. All depends on what background you take and also skills. Just my thoughts. Thanks again. Peace
Absolutely, you can have sucess with almost anyone in your party. Which makes the game fun :)
Something worth noting about the prepared spell healers is that you get soooo many slots that you don't really need to consider stuff like Life domain giving Bless at level 1 unless you are only going for 1 level in cleric. Every cleric will get bless and you'll have plenty of room for it. Even clerics with heavy armor proficiency is sort of a wash unless you were going for 12/12 cleric or something since its super-duper convenient to simply start as fighter with constitution throw proficiency AND heavy armor. (fighter, the best caster xD)
There are some goodies at 11 levels into cleric/druid, but you are generally going to put a perk into Resilent +1 constitution or War Caster anyways, and if you start off as fighter, then you end up saving a perk because you already have constitution saving throw proficiency.
So fighter LVL 1 then 5/5 into each life cleric and which druid?
Ok so I just picked up bg3 my wife and brother both are loving barbarian as they jump run dash and generally Barbarian around…..as a long time support main over the last 15odd years I found myself on cleric then on bard (we messed up) it seems as they are free to barbarian around with multiple actions seemingly endless In opportunity per turn im left to play my guitar in the corner waiting for us to be able to rest so I can use my skills again….. surely I’m missing something
A 1st level dip into life domain cleric, then going college of lore bard is a very strong support/healing build. It does put you 1 level behind on bard, but the benefits outweigh the negatives.
When you hit level 3 bard (lvl 4 total), you'll get the short rest song, giving you and your party 3 short rests per long rest.
My main will be a Swords Bard, utility spells mostly but probably debuff and the odd damage spell. I'll take Shadowheart for support/healing. Karlach, annnnnd I'm unsure about the last spot. I don't really want Gale because I'm not good with Wizards. I might go with Jahira if she's more of a caster druid. I'm trying not to respec characters out of their classes and just multi them, though with her I may have her go Fighter 2 and the rest Land Druid.
Thinking of Jahira since she was my first romance target in BG2 and my headcannon has my new main being a Blade like his gramps (BG2 char) and Jahira being his grandmom.
5 warlock, 5 paladin, 2 fighter, and you bang grandma
Bard for a face/utility character and Shadowheart for support.
Sounds like fun!
Cleric,Paladin,Fighter,Barbarian. Full melee party lots of buffs and defensive
hi ! really thank you for this video!
i have a question plz: if you are a berzerker and you can pick one of them for support a fight... which one do you take ?
thx
Cleric or Paladin. Both can give you healing but casting shield of faith on a Barbarian to increase their armor class can keep them alive after using reckless attack. :)
Which class is better to only heals?
Life domain Cleric by far
I'm tossing up between oathbreaker paladin and battlemaster fighter...
what would be the best 'support' character? I think I plan to bring Shadowheart and Gael but not sure on the last party member.
Ranged physical DPS would be best, so either Lae'Zel as an archer fighter/ranger or Astarian as an Assassin. Assassins are very good at the start of combat, and being able to see where the enemies line of vision ends makes hiding extremely easy.
The other suggestion is good, but I'd go for a controller style support. Lore Bard or Great Old One Warlock come to mind, but you could also go with a disrupter like a Gloomstaller Ranger which will do respectable damage and can quickly pick off weaker enemies to keep turn economy under control. You could also get control and more healing from a Spore Druid which has good synergy with an Oathbreaker.
Woodl Elf Ranger/Gloomstalker
Karclach
Shadowheart
Will Charn/Casting would like will but doesnt do charm as well
Or
Wood.Elf Circle of the Land (No shadowheart)
Astarian
Karlach
Gale
Decisions, decisions...
Option 2, because Karlach :)

I'm trying to like bards, because I can see how useful they'd be. But it's hard to let go of a lifetime of bias.
They're exceptionally useful in bg3, try things out in this game they've modernized a lot of the systems
@@raffdrawswhat bard does as support?
@@ChoperJoJo everything, buffs allies attack rolls, saving throws and casts illusion spells on enemies to frighten, make them laugh, deal damage etc. Bard is a true jack of all trades
Circle of Spores Druid for me. Can’t wait to be a Druid Necromancer 😮😊
I really want to try this subclass as well!
is it redundant to have a cleric and a paladin in the same group?
No.
While you can eventually get 'hirelings' if you honestly hate using any of the origin/companion characters in your party - or as your own character - the only classes that are not found in either origin characters OR companions are...
Bard
Sorcerer
Monk
And Bards tend to find 'love' everywhere they go with all kinds of characters, if you know what I mean...so, I think the choice is clear.
Is there a ranger that joins the party? Who is it? I havent finished the game yet so I could have just missed one.
@@lozpopominsc
I’m trying to make a character that can simp for mama Karlach and make her stronk. Was thinking bard
All classes can dps its basic on your build and druid can out tank pld because of bear etc lol i made a warlock tank its so op
I am going to be new to the game along with my friend who will also be new. I played through divinity 2 about 6 months ago and loved it. What classed would be great well rounded picks for two noobs in their first DND styled game?
If you want to complement each other I'd have one pick a front liner (Fighter, Barbarian, Paladin) and one pick a support (Bard, Cleric, Druid). I've got a video breaking down all the classes which I'd highly recommend checking out :)
My whole party is more defensively minded.
Berserker Barbarian
Life Cleric
Lore Bard
Evocation Wizard
Druid not even a contest
i took cleric heal with a paladin off heals
monk
cleric
barbarian
paladin
I disagree with your bard assessment. You can't really look at a class in a bubble. Bardic inspiration with gear even in the first act is capable of an average of 200 health and temp hit points per long rest. In the first act NOTHING else comes close to that.
Consider a bard at the end of act 1. With gear you have:
* healing word which is the only heal spell that really matters for most classes.
* 4 bardic inspiration that recharge on short rest (that's 16 per long rest!)
* an extra short rest for EVERYONE which is not only a bunch of hit points but it refreshes so many abilities and items
* +3 temp hit points per heal from boots of aid and comfort
* +2 any time you heal another from the ring of salving
* 1 healing word spell per day and 1 mass healing word per day from the amulet of restoration
* 2 rounds of bless from whatever that ring is called from act 1
* +1D6 self heals when you heal another (which will also gives both the target and self bless and temp hit points) from Wapira's Crown
* +1D6 hit points to another when you inspire an ally (this will trigger the rings and the boots for 1D6+2 hit points +3 temp hit points + 2 rounds of bless) from the cap of curing, for a bard this is the better of the two
* +4 temp hit points for self when you use bardic inspiration on another from blazer of benevolence
* there was also something somewhere ... can't remember where in act 1 that takes each bardic inspiration and gives you two usages per charge. doesn't help healing, but it's very rewarding.
Why does this really matter?
There are two short rests, but bard gets a whole 50% more short rests with that third short rest. Which, is also giving that bard a total of 16 bardic inspiration to use and EACH of those bardic inspirations will heal an ally for 1D6+2+3 temp hit points while also healing the bard for 4 temp hit points. That's 200 potential healing and temp hit points from bardic inspiration alone every long rest. Available in the first act. The math is 16 * (3.5 + 2 + 3) to get average healing assuming no wasted temp hit points and no wasted healing. To reiterate, this is without even using spell slots and without using potions. This also doesn't count the extra healing from the extra short rest that everyone in the party gets.
Bard also gets access to the best healing spell in the game at level 5 or 6 through magic secrets. It's a paladin spell that normally paladins don't get until act 3. It gives you 10 rounds of something like healing word. One single spell cast. I think there's no concentration. It's only a third level spell slot. It gives you those 10 heals. EACH of those heals also gets the benefit of healing gear which means each of those things will heal the target and also the caster, and like healing word it's only a bonus action.
The only healer in the game that can come close to the college of lore bard is the life cleric. The life cleric is a better healer than the college of lore bard in late game. But, college of lore bard is still better than any other kind of cleric and better than the druid.
If your main character is a halfling college of lore bard .... every other character you have can just focus on damage.
With that one character you have .... your lock picker, the face of your party for dialogs, the skills to pass pretty much any check, some of the best healing in the game, some of the best support spells in the game.
This gives you more options to swap out companions to try different kinds of builds.
While I do understand a lot of these choices (in many ways) in calling all of these "support", I think one obviously supports better than all others.
Since in 5e support is so very rarely a healer, I can honestly say "anyone who can healing word, or throw potions" qualifies. Control does better than healing to mitigate damage by far, and bards have a lot of that, as well as debuffs that make enemies easy kills.
With Lore Bards getting most of the useful utility spells, all the skills, and yes, being the Face, coupled with bardic inspirations, the extra rest, cutting words, and Counterspell (magic secrets for the win!) they have a LOT of role coverage. Plus they easily multiclass to improve their combat usefulness (if you haven't figured out how to make them really kick butt), mixing very well with Warlock, Sorcerer or one of your other mentions, the Paladin.
This leads to a party with more flexibility, letting them choose a lot more makeups than otherwise. Which is the epitome of support, hmm?
You forgot to mention the main reason why one would choose drude/drew/drood.
The furry romance.
by "furry romance" do you mean bestiality? Just curious.
slow down when speaking please you are talking too fast to focus
Not fast enough. I had to play video on 2x
You say "sort of" a lot
I sort of think you're right.
Bruh, I've played this game since EA release, I have no clue what 'pahty' you are talking about.
what healer you talking about, this is dnd rests are your healers.
This is Baldurs Gate 3, not DnD. They've added plenty of gear and made plenty of changes to make healers viable.
While it's as close to straight DnD as we're ever going to get, you will definitely need some healing in BG3.
healers are viable in dnd, bards, clerics can very much be good healers.
Mmmmm. Wrong
