I have loved this duet for many years. It’s so beautiful and their voices blend so well. I remember when I was a little girl in the 50s and he was the first African American to have his own TV show. It was a really big deal and my Dad loved to watch it. Nat King Cole was soooo good. Natalie was also a great singer. We had tickets to see her in concert but the concert was cancelled due to her I’ll health. Very sad that they both died at young ages. I remember seeing him chain smoking on his show. R.I.P. Nat King Cole and Natalie Cole. 💔🙏

This beautiful duet reminds me of my friend's parents years ago on their 50th wedding anniversary. They loved Nat King Cole's version of Unforgettable & fell back in love with Natalie & Nat's duet and would even dance at home to it. They were simple people & didn't want a party so their grown kids had a surprise in store for them. They secretly packed their parents bags & a big limo pulls up. Confused they get in with my friend & her hubby having no idea where they were going. Since they didn't drink champagne, glasses were filled with sparkling champagne & what was playing on the limo's sound system was "Unforgettable" both Nat's version & the duet. Her parents were overwhelmed and tears were running down their eyes. We live in a beach city in California & the limo pulls up to the port. When they tell their folks you are going on a Mexico cruise...they were in shock & didn't want to go as they never been on a cruise before & had no idea what to do. That's when my friend told them we're going too! So that made it amazing & altho they were still in shock, they all got aboard. When her parents opened the door to their suite, they heard Nat & Natalie again singing Unforgettable. Then the shouts of surprise came from their two other kids/spouses and grandkids. One son & family flew in from out of state for their parent's incredible anniversary cruise surprise. Her mom barely slept during the trip with all of her family there. Unforgettable that's what it was.
Takes me back! I remember Nat King Cole way back when! I am now over 70. Back in that Eara of music their where no computers or synthesizers. You had to be in the top of your craft to be in the limelight.!! 😊
I was privileged to see her in concert @ in Denver.. her orchestra was comprised of only black women, all wearing beautiful creamy white tuxedos, the conductor an elegant black woman with salt n pepper hair.. when a big screen came down, the orchestra started playing and Natalie started to sing is was pure magic.. she performed all her hits, but this was the highlight of the evening... Sad when she passed, but like Nat, she leaves her own thumbprint on the list of wonderfully talented female artists... "The fruit did not roll far from the tree" 🎶🎹🎵🎤❤️🙏🏻

One of the best redos ever!! From 1991 -- Unforgettable won Record Of The Year while the LP it's from won Album Of The Year, among other Grammys that year. And most deservedly so!! Natalie is sensational throughout that album!

We had Nat king Cole's TV show on in the early 60's and as a young kid I thought this guy was very softly spoken, totally sure of himself in a good way and someone if you met you could easily respect. 100% Class.

I learned of Nat King Cole in his last 6 years by accident. First he had songs on the radio when I was 6 or 7, like Lazy Crazy Hazy Days of Summer, and the annual "the Christmas Song [Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire] he is so famous for. But the 78 rpms my aunt gave me from her childhood, included 1 or 2 Nat King Cole Hits from the early 1950's , particularly Pretend. I learned how sing and phrase accidently by listening to Nat King Cole and others as a small child starting around 4... Nat King Cole is deep dive, jazz piano and vocals, so you'd better Straighten Up and Fly Right, find Mona Lisa in the Stardust ballroom, and Pretend she's Unforgettable, tell her you L-O-V--E her before the Autumn Leaves fall from the Orange Colored Sky after those Lazy Crazy Hazy Days of Summer, Nature Boy, and Smile when you say it.

Very few second-generation performers were able to achieve such a high level of success, always being compared to their famous mother or father. Natalie Cole achieved that kind of success, she was that talented. Nat Cole must have been so very proud of her. Mr. Cole was in a class by himself. Heartbreaking that they both left us way too soon. I once heard what I still to this day consider one of the best compliments ever paid to Nat Cole. I was hooked on a soap opera many years ago (One Life to Live). They did this really odd story-line where the lead actress was in the hospital, hovering between life and death. Then the writers had her go to heaven so she could decide if she wanted to remain there or come back to her current life. In heaven she is reunited with the love of her life, her first husband and father of her children, who died in an accident at a young age. They're talking and suddenly we're hearing Nat Cole singing of "(They Tried To Tell Us We're) Too Young". They begin to dance and she tells him she feels like she's back years ago, dancing with him like they did to a jukebox. She says she's impressed that they have a jukebox in heaven. He smiles and says "No, we have Nat Cole in heaven." Never forgot that. Someone on that show - a writer or a director, someone - was obviously a huge Nat Cole fan. The man was so very loved.

I can count on one hand the times I saw my father cry with fingers left over and when he saw this for the first time was one of those times he cried. Between my parents loving Nat King Cole and passing that love to me, we have worn out records, 8 tracks, cassettes, and CDs.

There was a video of the song of them together singing when Natalie first released it, and I was just so heartbroken and happy at the same time - I adored Nat King Cole, and it just made me wonder how she was feeling "singing with her dad" the only way she could. Just angelic and perfect.
She looked just like Nat King Cole in that picture. The video was spooky but in the best way. I lost my father figure in his 40s, and this video makes me very emotional.
They recorded this using the same studio, some of the original musicians, recording staff and the orginal master tapes. All that had been planned. All of that had been planned. When they were starting the producer looked at the master tape and realized they were recording on the very date Nat had recorded it. Natalie said it pushed her over the edge for a minute or two. Had to go out and have a little weep before she could record but when she did it was brilliant! You know her father was grinning ear to ear from on high watching!
You mentioned how remarkable George Benson’s voice was a few days ago…my wife and I saw him in concert in the early 90s. We had been enjoying an evening of great music…and he launched into “Unforgettable.” He nailed Nat King Cole’s voice then said into the microphone “If you think that was crazy listen to this.” Next he began singing Natalie’s part in her voice, and nailed that too. It was wild and impressive as hell! So glad you featured this one, Harri. I was in the retail music business when this album came out. Mine was a small store but I think we sold 600-700 copies of the CD in the first 3-4 weeks it was out.
Oh the times when we sold hundreds of albums per week… Getting those boxes in and almost selling them straight from the box right? Especially getting new albums before the release album under embargo. I remember playing Michael Jackson’s ‘Dangerous’ secretly on some headphones because we couldn’t play it in the store yet.

I couldn't wait for such upcoming release dates, finally being able to buy the albums and place them on the spindle of the turntable. Then, of course, clean the stylus and record with my Cecil E. Watts kit. Personally, I was fastidious in keeping all of my hundreds of albums in alphabetical order. At least it stayed that way until my son became old enough eh...borrow, shall we say, the album. Totally unplayable even if I found them following extensive searching. Then the miracle of miracles, the Compact Disc and CD player. Nirvana had been achieved...or so I thought. Yep, my son lifted those too, and they came back with the plastic CD case in tatters, and the CDs appeared to have been the victim of sandpaper!! Grrrr....and he had the gall to tell me that he knew nothing and even that he ever took them. It took sending him away to college to resolve this reign of terror.
I saw this many years ago and loved it! I imagine there weren’t many dry eyes in that audience. I just looked it up and discovered that Natalie was around 15 when he died, so hopefully, she had a chance to sing with him for real. 🌺✌️
I remember having the Nat King Cole's Greatest Hit album as a kid. I listened to it every day. He was one of the greatest crooners, as my parents called them.
Hank Williams Jr. also did a duet video with his father who passed away when he was really young. Definitely a country drinking song, "Tear in My Beer". This was stunning and one of my favorite ways to hear this song.
I remember seeing this hologram type of dual singing...so touching and so beautiful! You should try King Coles version of "Nature Boy"... They sang this twice in Moulin Rouge.. Not habit two other singers.

Nat`s voice was like having honey poured in your ears. His Brother Freddie was also a great singer. Freddie died two years ago. He sang mostly Jazz.

Nat "King" Cole died of lung cancer in 1965 at age 45. Natalie was 15 at the time of her father's death.
This is a special song for me. At my daughter's wedding reception, this was played for the "father-daughter" dance. It was perfect.

Totally unplayable even if I found them following extensive searching. Then the miracle of miracles, the Compact Disc and CD player. Nirvana had been achieved...or so I thought. Yep, my son lifted those too, and they came back with the plastic CD case in tatters, and the CDs appeared to have been the victim of sandpaper!! Grrrr....and he had the gall to tell me that he knew nothing and even that he ever took them. It took sending him away to college to resolve this reign of terror.

I saw this many years ago and loved it! I imagine there weren’t many dry eyes in that audience. I just looked it up and discovered that Natalie was around 15 when he died, so hopefully, she had a chance to sing with him for real. 🌺✌️

I remember having the Nat King Cole's Greatest Hit album as a kid. I listened to it every day. He was one of the greatest crooners, as my parents called them.

Hank Williams Jr. also did a duet video with his father who passed away when he was really young. Definitely a country drinking song, "Tear in My Beer". This was stunning and one of my favorite ways to hear this song.
I remember seeing this hologram type of dual singing...so touching and so beautiful! You should try King Coles version of "Nature Boy"... They sang this twice in Moulin Rouge..
