If you're going to have a debate, you need a mediator who is impartial. She's clearly biased.

Vice is a very liberal platform, but the guy who mediated the debate between black conservatives and black liberals did a way better job of remaining neutral.
For vice media this is the most medium they have ever been. But she was trying to highlight all the emotions over law. Still this video and black conservative video are most reasonable content vice has published.
Good luck finding someone who's actually impartial(ABSOLUTELY EVERYONE is biased, to pretend that isn't true is disingenuous). Although I agree her political leaning is fairly obvious.

As a Latino I can say that if anything needs to be cancelled it's Latinx.
I'm my entire 4 decades of life, outside of media, the only people I have heard use the term latinx are non-latino liberals and it makes me cringe everytime. I once made a young white liberal cry because I pointed out that we don't use that term and they shouldn't put that on me because it may be considered derogatory.
This was the saddest debate I've ever seen. Also, when you are having a debate, the "moderator" is not supposed to be one-sided.

Why do people hang onto things that they fled from or refused to change? I suppose you can be proud enough of 2 places to use those terms if you're both grateful of the place that gave you a home and are actively involved in solving the issues of the previous country that you fled from. Otherwise, pick a place to be and do it for a reason.
@@justlucky8254 I was born here. I'm pretty liberal. I guess that's the easiest way to explain it to someone who agrees with her. No offense intended. Her opinions weren't even the biggest issue... it was the way she presented them. She really came across as classist. To understand the struggle of your brothers and sisters (literally anyone and everyone, not just natives/latinos) and to empathize with them in their struggles can really add perspective and enrich a person's life. Her mind seems too closed for even that.

As a matter of fact thats how opinions are formed. We have an initial emotional opinion and then find facts to prove that initial emotional reaction. But yeah no one here really knew policies but then again I’m sure they all have lives and can’t dive deep into them.

This conversation displays how uneducated our communities are in many topics & the emotional immaturity we carry and lack of consideration for others. We are not always right & we need to take account of other peoples individual experiences. We will never grasp perspective if we constantly interrupt when others are speaking. This was embarrassing to watch on many levels.

I’ve been on a Vice debate binge and this is the only one of those debates where absolutely no one was able to state a fact, list a statistic, reference a study, etc
The debate was completely feeling based, and it was a shame to not see people who were willing to get down to the nitty gritty and debate policies and laws

It clearly wasn't a debate. It was people sharing their views which was enlightening but pathetic at the same time. The college self-proclaimed wonderboy in the center has been so brainwashed with left-wing liberal ideology it was palpable. He basically didn't have an original thing to say during any of his word salads. That was straight out of his "enlightened" professors mouth. Get off the Kool-Aid little man.

He may have laughed because once upon a time The American Dream sent the US to other countries, and just like in the Middle East, lead to more problems within the government. Also, the American Dream used to be for white rich men. You're not wrong, if he laughed at the entire opportunity of what it is today, that would had been hypocritical, but he gave a few examples of how that dream is affecting Native Americans. That's the American dream at the expense of exploiting others.

Something I've been noticing is always that the leftist are usually the most hostile...... Im stoned as hell and I just came up with a fascinatung highdea... the tragic truth about our great county (and many other countries) is that politics will always be divided into two opposing ideas. If anyone has seen the movirle Star Strek, this dilemna is the same dilemna that Spock dealt with- the battle between Emotion vs. Logic. There are people who act more on emotion and those who act more on logic. Although both groups of people possess qualities from both types of traits, one group is a little more liberal (emotional) while the other is more conservative (logical). Neither trait is more wrong or right. We all need to acknowledge that there should be a steady balance between being logical and being emotion because without a balance between the two, instability is inevitable. Finding balance between logic and emotion is crucial for a country. It starts with the individual and extends to the ones in power. I'll end this message with a statement that we should all take into serious consideration- If we want to unite as a country and really "Great", We need to be respectful and empathetic TO one another and act logical FOR one another.

Something that has always bothered me about the term “American” is that it is somehow exclusive to one country in the Americas

In English, that’s the only word we have. We don’t have an equivalent term to “estadounidense,” which is the term I use when speaking Spanish. We don’t do it to be disrespectful or exclusionary; it’s just a feature of our language.
Also, it only seems to be people from Spanish-speaking countries that have a problem with this. Canadians don’t identify as Americans unless perhaps they actually are US citizens. And I doubt that someone from Mexico, Colombia, or Argentina would describe themselves as “American” when asked.
Also, in the US, we’re taught that North and South America are separate continents. We say “the Americas” if we’re referring to both together.
United States is known as America and that's how it is, nothing wrong with that
@@seandavila835this right here. I don’t know why it’s so hard for some people to understand. Why would we say “Americans” to refer to the entirety of both North, South, and Latin Americas? In most situations we would never even talk about all the people in that land mass, especially with how Latinos want to differentiate between all these nationalities and ethnicities. We use Americans because when you hear that you know exactly who it refers to, it’s really that simple.

Julianna Campo are you serious? Do some research before you speak. Asians have been through some crazy shit in America. They just got over that victim hood shit real fucking quick, picked themselves up, came together as a community and rushed head first towards their goals.
In part 1, she said they were going to talk about things that aren't normally brought to the forefront. Then they talked about racism, the wall, and living wages.
It is refreshing to me though, to know there's all kinds of different people even within a specific "community" and that we shouldn't paint with broad strokes.
It's a bit disappointing to think though, that there's so many people who say "if you disagree with me, we can't be cool with each other." Like, these discussions shouldn't get so heated because people disagree.
This was a good example of holidays with my family and them wanting to talk politics.

Most of the gripes that the Conservatives have were being addressed by Obama & Trump scrapped them! Obama deported more illegals than any other president so he knew that America couldn't grant everyone asylum. Obama signed an Exec Order to allow minors to file for asylum in their own country to prevent them from trusting coyotes and being trafficked. DEMs want to invest in a high tech virtual wall (sensors, alarms) and hire more border security. The "conservatives" aren't informed. Also, I am so freaking tired of hearing "conservative" imbeciles bash welfare for the poor when taxpayers subsidize a min wage FOR WEALTHY CORPORATIONS while praising capitalism that doesn't even exist in USA! We practice cronyism in America. Our "free" market is a joke & will continue to be a joke as long as we vote for politicians that SELL legislature to their Big Donors that stack the deck at the top. Google ALEC & Citizens United which created a Gov that works for BIG Donors while ignoring the will of the people.
Big Oil buys U.S. Military protections around the globe while contributing NO taxes! Big Chemical buys protection when they poison entire communities or cause cancer, auto-immune illnesses AND buys deregulation that allows them to continue doing it! Trump put our entire Big Agriculture industry on welfare in his 2nd year in office so "conservatives" can spare me their welfare gripes about our poor considering a lot of our veterans receive SNAP benefits. I just wish "Conservatives" were more informed because they are literally voting for the same issues that they are bitching about! Obama restructured George W's tax cuts for the TOP so that the middle class paid less tax!
Look, I am not a socialist! I believe countries thrive with a hybrid system -- robust social programs & REAL capitalism where competition lowers prices and produces a living wage which boosts consumer SPENDING & DEMAND and results in long term JOBS. In USA, our states give million $ tax cuts for jobs that defund education emergency services, prevent modern infrastructure. This is not sustainable when worker's wages are too low to buy the products that are being made! Too much logic?
BTW: Corporate Predators can't be trusted with vulnerable populations like healthcare for example --- for-profit healthcare makes every disease that I am diagnosed with a profitable commodity and removes the will for producing CURES for disease. Instead, we are forced to buy expensive medication like opioids that cover up symptoms. Corporate stockholders will never "cure" themselves out of business! It was sad to see the man at the bottom left speaking on his opinions and feelings and the moderator interrupting him by saying, "But what if it was you and your mother!?" I think she did that to him at least twice during the whole conversation. Like yeah empathy is important, though I don't particularly think he's lacking it based on his responses, but it is not HER job to interject like that. She's to ask questions and keep the discussion guided and civil. Not push it in one political direction and make one half of the participants come across as bad guys. I call for a redo on this. Was mostly OK with the selection of participants, but would also love to maybe see a couple who are a bit older in the mix. And a different mod for sure, unless this lady can do a better job of biting her tongue next time. Frankly this is what I've come to expect from Vice - something framed as objective which turns out quite the opposite. Shame.

Nice conversation. One piece of advice I would give is I think everyone should be a in a circle format using chairs. Have the moderator included in the circle as well so the people in front aren’t bending their necks to look at other speakers or if a speaker is directly behind them it makes it a little awkward. Very good idea. These same participants can come back in the round table format. After putting the first gathering behind them, they also have gained some experience in expressing their views without getting too emotional. And also overcoming the nervousness in this meeting with unknown strangers.

One of the issues I have with this, is the interrupting & speaking over another during this debate. The moderator should have had better control or a whistle lol. Also, the Colombian American panelist who spoke about Puerto Ricans and their experience of mostly being on welfare & not wanting independence really displayed her lack of understanding of the Puerto Rican experience & its history. It was very surface level understanding of the islands history & I was quite frustrated that more time was not given to expose her misconstrued opinion. I do hope they have another panel in the future though on this topic.
