I’m Mexican but consider myself just as an American. 42 years old, grew up in the “hood” in a predominantly Latin and black community. I’ve never experienced racism towards myself and it’s so odd to hear that coming from Latinos. I don’t know their situations so I will not speak for those. I just know that when I’m out in public, I’ve always conducted myself in a respectful manner and it seemed to have worked well in my life.
@@pandarockets5328es I was in the same situation, I lived in "the hood" that consisted of a predominately Latino and black community. I moved very early on to the suburbs. I am a 1st gen brown Mexican American and I moved to a predominantly white town, and I can say first hand ive always delt with racism. Being that I'm only 16 dealing with these issues everyday, they definitely affected my mental health. Latinos deal with racism everyday no matter where you live, but unfortunately like how they explained in this episode people don't target the white skinned latinos. You're very lucky to not have felt with these issues but so you are aware these actions are still very much happening to people all around the world and we as Latinos need to come together and stand against racism, for us and the poc community. Awareness will be the first step to a better society.

You don’t know what its like for cops to assume your guilty until you can prove that your innocent, you don’t know what it’s like to be a scapegoat for a white dudes problems, and whats worse is you don’t try to understand.

Fun Facts: I am from Mexico and realize Mexico has no Indian reservations. Therefore its impossible to have a border wall to divide them . Also Mexico does not allow people to cross at any unauthorized border crossings . U.S. Citizenship requires a minimum of 5 years of legal residence. Illegals should be granted legal residence , not citizenship . They also should have to pay a fine and wait an addition 10 years,
México doesn’t have any Indian reservations bc they live amongst society, and if they don’t they have their own predominant villages/towns/cities.
As a Latino, every time I hear “Latin X” I cringe.
Other than that, kudos to Vice for allowing this kind of public discourse to take place.

I have to say that one thing about conservatives is that if it's not in front of their face, if it's not happening to them, it doesn't exist. They tend to have a lower capacity for empathy. Especially if it isn't affecting somebody close to them. And even so, sometimes they insist on keeping themselves clueless.

I didn't vote for Trump but i agreed with more of his policies than Biden or Clinton. I vote on principles rather than a person with a letter next to their name
The only problem I have with illegal immigrants is they jump the line to get citizenship. A number of my family members who immigrated LEGALLY had to wait 3 + years while folks they work with who were ONCE illegal immigrants got their citizenship sooner. Show me anyone who has been in line at the supermarket or DMV and see someone just go to the front of the line know how frustrating it feels.
Illegal immigrants can’t jump the “line” for them to get a citizenship they need to leave the US for at least 10 Year’s, Don’t comment on things u Don’t know

That is a tired and not very effective argument. Do you seriously think illegal immigrants who come to the US get automatic rights and citizenship as people who legally migrate??? They don't. I think with your example of illegal immigrants getting citizenship sooner than your family members, you're not telling the full story or you're ignorant of the whole story. Even when an illegal immigrant marries someone who is an American citizen, it's not an automatic, "Here's your green card!" because the fact that they entered the country illegally is a huge mountain to overcome. There's a whole long process with that, that may include leaving the country. Asylum seekers might get accelerated work permits. And they are a different category. Everyone's story is different and not everyone has the same opportunities. The playing field isn't level. So read up on this nuanced issue and stop giving standard issue answers that don't require critical thinking skills. I believe in the law and I don't think open borders are the answer. But the ignorance around this issue won't help anyone.

So out of all of the other similar political videos that Vice has uploaded onto RUclips as part of a series of political debates with different viewpoints, this particular episode, which features participants with different political viewpoints from the left and the right from members of the Latino community that live in Miami, Vice chose not to (or may have cut it out for time purposes), include each debate participant to introduce themselves, such as their name, their background, or any other interesting info that person would want to share. After watching the political debate that featured a lively discussion from members of the Asian community, I was able to connect with one of the conservative participants by sending a message via his social media page and eventually was able to talk to the person on the phone since we shared many of the same interests (especially politics) and even found out that we had mutual friends! So I just wish Vice would have given us the opportunity to have each participant gives us the audience, a short intro of wbo they are, what they're interests are, and or why they chose to participate in this political discussion that millions of viewers would watch.

I like the fact that people who disagree are having a discussion, but VICE tends to have moderators who clearly have a particular position. It’s evident with some of the editing and how the moderators pick and choose when to add modifiers to the participants’ dialogue during and exchange.
It would be nice to have one of these panels where the majority held a more conservative viewpoint on politics. The conservatives are typically always the minority (ironically) during the debates.
