Unfortunately only focusing on veterans as suffers from PTSD it makes people think you can't have PTSD if you haven't been to war. People downplay it even if they accept you have it.
My husband has chronic pain. Cannabis helps keep him off opioids. He says something similar about Cannabis and the pain. It doesn't make it go away, but it dulls it and allows him to think of other things instead of just focusing on the pain. It saved his life and pur marriage. I now work for a Cannabis grow in Oklahoma.
I have a similar issue i have a nerve in my back that is messed up from herniations that give me a sciatic pain that runs down my whole right leg i think its called radiopathic nerve pain or something. The cannabis doesnt get rid of the pain completely but it does stop the muscle spasms and reduces the nerve pain enough to walk around and be somewhat active otherwise i would just sit around all day and be depressed. My partner doesn't use and in the 6 years we have been together i think he has tried edibles 2 or 3 times when on vacations. He actually dislikes the smell and everything however in the rare case i dont have some cannabis he will go and grab some for me. I grow my own but like 3 months ago i did a deep clean of my grow area and rebuilt it so i wasnt growing for about a month and he just would drive like an hour to a friends place who also grows and grab an ounce or 2 for me when i needed it even if he hates the smell and doesnt use it.
Danny if you’re watching this and seeing the comments I am extremely sorry about everything you have gone through there is help waiting for you I believe in you!
Legalize it federally. Not complicated. We the people owe our veterans everything. It wasn't the lawyer or politician that shed his lifeblood for this country. If you enjoy freedom, thank a vet.
This was very hard to watch. I am not a veteran but do live with PTSD. Over a span of 20 years I was prescribed anti depressants, anti psychotics, and stimulants for depression, anxiety, bi polar, and narcolepsy. PTSD wasnt suggested until several years ago by a therapist. After coming off all the meds and trying cannabis I felt alive and present for the first time since i was a child. I still have a lot to work through, but my children and wife have someone that is present and not in fight or flight at the drop of a hat. Cannabis can save so many lives. Thank you for this video. My love goes out to all who suffer from PTSD and their families. Our veterans deserve better.
Goated post vice, my grandfather was a captain in the Marines & served for 16 years. @@shannonoconnell8954 I agree, it's tough when your body thinks it needs something not natural. Fortunately there are medical professionals trained to handle things like this, so it takes faith in finding a provider that isn't just going to prescribe more pills, and it will take courage to commit to the higher path.
My step-dad is a Canadian Vet. PPCLI. He injured his back parachuting out a plane in the 1990's, and was prescribed opiates for over a decade. He struggled for years just to function daily. They eventually gave him a prescription for cannabis, and he tossed the pills about 5 years ago now. He's a different man. There's so many benefits to it. I'm going on 3 years sober myself, and I don't know if I could have done it without cannabis.
@@havoc4171 I'll agree with anyone who says I'm not technically sober because I smoke cannabis. I'll clarify that I'm sober from alcohol and we can move on with life. We all know the definition of sobriety but only people in recovery know what it really means. I don't mean to seem dramatic, it's just that deep. Anyone can feel free to call out a recovering heroin addict for falsely claiming sobriety whilst smoking cannabis. It's not going to take anything away from them, just the same as it won't take anything away from me. We know what it means to us. You dig what I'm saying? It's deep. If you've never been there yourself just be glad.
My dad served in the Army. Seven years+ four of which he was in Vietnam. My dad Retired from the Postal service after 37 years. Was married 38 years had three children. He was supportive and loving. We never wanted for anything. In short he smoked marijuana all those years after leaving the service. He had no mental problems, no ptsd, no abuse chargers nor did have a police record of any kind. The V.A. Should give these vets weed to help preserve them and those that love them. Remember they’ve done things and seen things most of us will never experience. RIP WALLACE K DOZIER SR.🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
My brother is a vet with P.T.S.D but lives where it’s legal to smoke weed and it helps him completely and refuses to use the prescriptions because they don’t help.
He’s not wrong. When I was younger they prescribed me Prozac cuz I went through a lot growing up and it didn’t make any difference. Marijauna cures a lot from mental to physical it’s amazing. They don’t want you using natural stuff they want you to rely on their meds it’s sick.
@@Jay-s8x7f Nope. VA doesn't control your compensation. We thank God for that one, because we know the VA hates veterans. If you tell them you smoke weed, they might mess with your medical record by saying you're an addict and they might try putting you through rehab. It's a stupid game they play - at the end of the day, these young and old doctors are literally just trying to justify their continued existence so they can secure that paycheck (they paid alot of money and time to get their degrees)
this is amazing how the veterans are relating to each other and the support between them this gives me another perspective on life and what others would be going through the hardships someone has faced along with the mental strain it brings me to tears i have no idea what they are going through i take so much for granted

Psychedelics did wonders in my life. Over the course of my life, I've suffered from uncontrollable, depression, anxiety, alcohol, smoking, and illicit pills addiction. There IS therapy. There IS help. The VA is no different than the military itself in that if you want it, you’re going to have to go get it. You’re going to have to push for it. I, too, am a combat veteran and I, too, suffer from a lot of the same problems and issues. The alcoholism, the drug addiction, the benzodiazepines, the antidepressants, the anti anxiety medications, the terrible sleep, the handful of pills twice a day, the marital difficulties, and the suicidal ideation and attempts - all of it. I still have really bad days, but the VA assigned me a great psychologist and psychiatrist and, initially, I endured (?) intensive therapy twice a week for 20 months in order to survive MYSELF. Nothing and no aspect of VA’s care is without flaw, but each of us as veterans owe it to ourselves to make every effort to find that part inside of us that is the fierce warrior we once were on the ground and do battle - put in the real and serious work - with the “things” destroying us from within. Stay in the fight, brothers and sisters, because YOU are worth it and worthy of it.
Vets shouldn’t have to “want it” “push for it” and prove themselves to be worthy, to get help. You were told you’d be taken care of and adequate help should be readily available
I’ve “wanted it” from the VA for over 9 months now. They finally got me an appointment for physical therapy, only it wasn’t. It was a letter they sent me so I can schedule it. Called the number on the letter, literally doesn’t exist. Called another number for the VA, they tried calling the physical therapy department, both numbers they had didn’t work. So they sent an email and told me it can be a 3mo wait for a response. Am I just not wanting it enough? This is one of the many treatments I’m trying to get. Don’t confuse your experience with everyone else’s

Mom’s dad was a paratrooper in Korea, smoked and drank himself to death in his 50’s. Dad’s dad was a corporal in the Army in WW2. Died early and alone after being abusive to his 7 kids. Dad’s brother was a submarine operator, self inflicted on thanksgiving. He taught me how to play chess. I’ve also got other uncles in the army who seem mostly alright. I always find it interesting how much the military has directly impacted my family, yet I’ve never served a day in it.
I served 15 years in Canada. Like many others, I was a functioning alcoholic. Since 2018, most of our troops can smoke a few joints or enjoy a few edibles after work. Hopefully this will prevent future troops from becoming alcoholics. Too much of anything isn't good, but you can't die from weed and I've never heard of a violent stoner beating his wife and children

This is one of the reasons I started my cannabis business in the Bay Area ! I’ve seen firsthand how much cannabis can help all types of people and to have the chance and give people an opportunity to try cannabis and see if it can help is amazing. I’ll never stop growing cannabis and I’ll never stop learning to always provide the best experience using my products
My dad was never a complete person due to an abusive childhood and Iraq only made it worse. After seeing all the meds he is prescribed by the VA, it makes me take a sigh of relief that I never made it past AIT. Cannabis and Psylicibin have shown to work with PTSD and the effects of war.
I am also a disabled combat Vietnam veteran. I've been smoking since i was a very young man, starting at the age of 12 yrs old up to the present. At first, it was just for pleasure and enjoyment. Now, it's a very big part of my medical schedule of medications. It's been a life saver for me. Before cannabis became decriminalized in a lot of states, i had a number of issues with the VA because of smoking cannabis. Im glad to see that the VA is now accepting smoking cannabis as part of veterans medical protocol on helping curb pain issues and PTSD issues.
Saved my life from the zombie pills! I was talking 12-15 different pills a day for years. Every new pill came with side effects which came with new pills smh.
I have done a long term PTSD study with 2001-2006 OIF/OEF veterans. I had 500 in the first group. As of this time five(5) have been confirmed to be among the living. There might be a few more, but about 490 out of 500 are now gone. Lost to the nightmares of untreated PTSD and lack of care and empathy. The ones that still survive all consume marijuana and various psychedelics. From self reporting, all of them stopped most if not all of the VA psych meds.
7:00 "That doesn't matter, i still need this (knives), just to function. Yeah.. it's as if there was a war going on outside. Yeah, that's it, because there is still war going on inside of me." Thanks for your precious words, Sir. As a Canadian, it makes me grateful i don't have to worry about the legal consequences. Mad respect for all the veterans out there. To all reading this single comment, may the wars you fight in silence be conquered and may your defeats be lessons to become a better person than yesterday. Praying for all of you 🙏
The video just started and I am blown away. I had no idea they used opiates to treat PTSD. I’m a recovering heroin addict and I find that to be so confusing and messed up.
Goated post from vice. Wish this could have helped people in other wars like Vietnam, because maybe I could have seen my grandfather because he sadly killed himself because thought he had brain cancer or something wrong with his brain. He just had severe ptsd. He watched his best friend die in combat and would when having freakouts pull his gun out on my mom. From all the stories I heard from him before and after war he was a good man and just had his moments. If it was legal or for medical use back then I wonder if he would still be alive.
There are many jobs in the military that can cause PTSD even if you are not deployed. It is hard to explain to people that you've never been deployed but you feel the a lot of the same emotions that guys that have are experiencing. I was a 15P in the Army and it changed my life in so many ways I couldn't even begin to explain them all. ATC has the highest suicide rate in the civilian marketplace much less the military field. I wish soldiers would support soldiers but the skepticism I have felt from others has caused me to completely withdraw myself from society and avoid others that say they want to help when they really just go to work to collect the paycheck. The VA has tried to gaslight me and denied my claims over and over and veterans have to pay for the appointments to satisfy the VA. The whole system just feels like a business designed to make the most money off the back of veterans, not to help.
Weed saved my life from major depression. Literally helped me stop drinking myself to death and since it’s as easy to buy as alcohol as it is weed where I live it’s crazy that people drink at all
I was diagnosed with C-PTSD, not from combat, but from the trauma of having a psychotic break due to schizoaffective disorder. It was like being locked in a cage with demons psychologically torturing me every waking second of every single day. One day while at a psychiatric appointment I heard a voice say "he's a control freak", it wasn't a real voice but the point was valid and something that had not occurred to me. I was trying so hard to control myself that I was creating a feedback loop of anxiety. The more anxiety I felt the harder I fought, the harder I fought the more I failed and the more anxiety I felt until I shut down. Anxiety is when you are not at peace with your current state of being. You are literally at war with yourself because it's just you vs you. When I stopped fighting and just surrendered it wasn't that I didn't get anxiety but that it wound down instead of up and over time with many tears I started to heal. I credit Jesus because I know that I didn't do it alone, I had help and a built in therapist in the Holy Spirit.
I am suffering everyday. After being diagnosed I have lost all friends even people I called brothers. I realized how alone I am to this day and it gives me chills to my spine.
Well good for you opioids actually make chronic pain worse over time They make you much more sensitive to it. Using things like mindfulness and yoga and exercise where you can stretching is one of the best things.
Marijuana could save your life, but the law is against it❓does it work,is their scientific evidence❓should it be treated like any other drug❓but you should worry about the side effects❓
I told the VA I feel like I'm slipping into depression and did 6 counseling sessions, then was being set up for real therapy but I felt like the 6 sessions fixed what I was going through. This is a great video, but presenting the VA as useless pill-pushers isn't fair. I've had nothing but excellent service from them
I'm a combat but myself and I did cognitive processing therapy with the VA the VA prefers that you do counseling for PTSD and pills are not really recommended. The guidelines change all the time and I read the 2024 guidelines and there are only two medications that are not FDA approved for PTSD but the VA even recognizes may help PTSD, however the VA recommends talk therapy as the first line prescription over the pills. a lot of these veterans just aren't willing to do the actual hard work and would rather complain about the VA and those cases a lot of times the VA does overprescribe the pills because they're just getting desperate to help the vets who are not even trying to help themselves.
@@Jay-s8x7f No they will not. No risk of that. You have plenty individuals at VA who have their own biases they should leave at the door, but va wants you to be open without fear of reprisal. The only situation the will have an issue with and this depends on the doctor even, is if you sign a contract for opioids or another controlled substance.
Danny, if you're reading this; you are SO important!! thank you for still being here ♥ we're all rooting for you, you only deserve the best in life & nothing less. sending lots of love your way from germany ♥♥♥
And there was so much misinformation in this if you actually knew what was going on I'm a combat that and I'm an hour license professional counselor. Almost All the stuff in this video it was very misleading. For one VA does not use opiates to treat PTSD either used to treat pain over prescriptions for PTSD the reason they resort to given so many veteran prescriptions is that some veterans are hardheaded and not willing to do the work. This is also an older video it looks like and a lot has changed since then.

happy 4/20 everyone! as a veteran i would say cannabis has helped me when i got out trying to blend into the civilian world. Some of my friends has killed themselves because the VA also kept telling them to come back another time. THC has been one of the most healing plants on the planet for my life. It made me so sad to see Danny suffering so much, he’s lost everything and to hear him say he wouldn’t do anything to “break the law” and it’s just that all of these processes and procedures we have created around healthcare has caused us to lose the person in the treatment of pushing drugs and money across a billion dollar industry. We know that pharmaceutical companies have been abusing us for years. They have proven that they cannot be trusted. I’m from Michigan, and our state has been leading the way in recreational and medical weed and I’m an advocate, I hope these vets can obtain the health they so desperately deserve.
Listen… I’m all for sobriety and meeting reality on reality’s terms. Some of my happiest moments have come as a direct result from pushing through my suffering without any supplemental aid. But if there are people in our communities who are in serious need of healing, who have experienced the deepest pains of warfare and human cruelty, where others have not… There is no better medicine than plant medicine. Marijuana (and annual, supervised hero doses of shrooms) can do so much good for so many people. Opioids are the real danger here, but because there’s such a market for them… Well, you know. The ironic part is there’s a huge market for marijuana, too, but because of the stigmas associated with it…

Unfortunately only focusing on veterans as suffers from PTSD it makes people think you can't have PTSD if you haven't been to war. People downplay it even if they accept you have it.
@@mostpplarezombies the damn video is about veterans gtfoh
@@mostpplarezombiessince RUclips took off my last comment, the video is literally about veterans. Sit down somewhere
Are they hiring?

@@havoc4171 some people don’t count it, it’s really personally choice!

I just went through a podcast on psilocybin mushrooms as an addiction treatment. Has anyone tried it?
It's not just about the substance it's about addressing underlying issues.
It's been 6 months after my mushroom therapy, I feel more in control!! smoke free.
I was skeptical, but psilocybin mushrooms helped me quit smoking after 20 years.
Did you use a specific protocol or dosage?
I did a guided session with a therapist, 3.5g of psilocybin mushes. The experience was profound.
I'm a combat vet, and I had some pretty bad issues when I got out. The VA had me on some kind of blood pressure meds, Klonopin, Seroquel, and I was drinking like a fish.

Damn all the feels. Happy 420 everyone.

I hope Danny is doing better today. This was aired in 2016
I have done a long term PTSD study with 2001-2006 OIF/OEF veterans.

Goated post from vice. Wish this could have helped people in other wars like Vietnam, because maybe I could have seen my grandfather because he sadly killed himself because thought he had brain cancer or something wrong with his brain.

Literally helped me stop drinking myself to death and since it’s as easy to buy as alcohol as it is weed where I live it’s crazy that people drink at all
-11:06 man that really sucks, I feel bad for the dude
This was such a great episode very touching and ground breaking
Weed should be included in ALL treatment plans via pain management, mental illness, PTSD, and the like. This needs to stop, NOW!
I am suffering everyday. After being diagnosed I have lost all friends even people I called brothers. I realized how alone I am to this day and it gives me chills to my spine.

@@xObscureMars Hi. Will the VA take your disability compensation if you smoke marijuana ? Thanks
@@Jay-s8x7f No they will not. No risk of that. You have plenty individuals at VA who have their own biases they should leave at the door, but va wants you to be open without fear of reprisal. But if there are people in our communities who are in serious need of healing, who have experienced the deepest pains of warfare and human cruelty, where others have not… There is no better medicine than plant medicine. Got off the meds, had some big hiccups but finally got it together, got my kids back etc etc and cannabis has def been a good tool to have mixed with diet and exercise and some faith. Keep fighting cuz there is light at the end
