Love this playing so much. It‘s for me a perfect match describe this place. Sitting here far away in Germany, can‘t wait sit outside at Kalapawai and enjoy a coffee. All I need
Since this video was shot there have been big changes at the park with major construction now going on for over a year. Here's the video I shot last year: ruclips.net/video/0zbNqYJpXhQ/видео.html Happily the Kalapawai Market is still staying in business. Fran
There are some great resources available in RUclips, and I think once you get used to taropatch open G tuning it's the easiest way to play guitar! Good luck with it. Fran
Hi Fran - another beautiful piece of music and accompanying video. I listened to ‘Take 1’ and thoroughly enjoyed it too. A really nice start to the morning and the week ahead. Thanks for sharing 👍👍
Thank you Alan, we always have a sweet time when we get to Kailua, even when I had a week of COVID isolation. Being able to walk around, hit the beach, and play guitar outside makes it even better. Fran
Another home run! I really love how you integrate a compelling baseline over a simple melody here. Personally, I love the way notes speak at a slower tempo but would otherwise sound thin with the usual droning. But then clearly you know all that so why am I babbling. Great tune. I also appreciate the thought you put into the location shots. No ka oi
Walter, it's just flattering to have someone take time to formulate and post such a detailed comment. Thank you. I should probably explain that I'm not thinking in so much detail as much as just trying to find things I can play, hopefully while propelling the song along. And of course it's got to be fun! Fran
Thank you Serge. I honestly wish it had been just a bit sweeter and mellower but my drone pilot was running out of time so we had to take what I could deliver. The scenery really gives a special flavor to the clip, I think. Fran
Glad to see you out and about again. I had to revisit your 2012 post. Interesting, the tone difference between taropatch F and G . Love the video tour and as always played w/love and respect for the culture. The "Guidry Grin" is a welcome sight. Best to you all.
I hope you have a lot of success learning slack key, it's a really fun way to play the guitar. Visit Harry Koizumi's channel for excellent lessons: ruclips.net/user/Harrysguitar Fran
Thanks, Fran, great song! I like both G and F taropatch versions--they express different dimensions of the song. This one in G taropatch has a nice expansion. Very nice videography with drone and close ups. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you for stopping by and commenting. We're lucky to have a buddy with his new flying toy and the patience to put up with practice, staging, and shooting over and over. I would have thought the G version would be my preference, but now I realize they have different flavors and I'm not sure which I like better. I think I will try to borrow a few details from the F version next time I play the song. Of course the result will still be different every time, just like Ledward taught me (grin). Fran
@@thumbstruck One thing about these nice long trips to Kailua, all our other destinations get shortchanged. We have a lot of places we want to go but we keep winding up on the Windward Side. Fran

Great Music. Thank you for this video 👍👍👍👍👍
I love the idea of connecting the song with it’s inspiration. My heart took a short visit to Oahu as the music was playing.
Thanks Lars, I have a lot of fun finding settings for the music. I have a couple of more ideas that I hope we can implement before heading home.

Another great Video Fran! I lived on Maui from 1989 to 2001 the good times! Your music always makes me a little home sick in a good way. Mahalo
Homesick in a good way, that's a wonderful compliment. Thank you.
Fran

I could listen to this ALL DAY... Really makes me need to buckle down and learn to play some Slack Key.

Thanks, you're very kind. I hope you'll find some other clips in the collection that you might enjoy.

Nice! I stayed just up the road from there! Close to great shave ice!
I remember your visit with Jack and that cool rental you found. Did you enjoy the plate lunch from K&K along with the Island Snow shave ice?

Really enjoyable video and music Fran. Taropatch open G - love the name!! 🙂
The taropatch runs through all of Hawaiian culture so you know some musician is going to make use of it.
Fran
Wow, that was so nice. Thank you! 🤙
You are so nice to visit and comment, thank you!

I want to be you when I grow up. :-)
E, the secret is no grow up!! It helps if you find someone like my sweet Lynnie to take care of all the details so you can stay a kid!
Fran
I been following you for a long time Love your music MAHALO
Thanks Michael, it's humbling to know that folks are enjoying my efforts.
