25:38 Because Matthias Reyes confessed over five years after the crime was committed, the stature of limitations had passed so he couldn't get charged for that. So five boys served time for a crime they didn't commit, and the woman who was raped didn't even get justice for it.
Last I heard Dr Yusef Salaam is predicted to win the run for City Council in Harlem. We tell you this stuff just to keep the story up to date with everyone. I've heard those who've met Korey Wise say he is a very sweet man and praise him for the work he does with the legal system. He still talks like the actor playing him in the show does, either due to some learning disabilities he's had his whole life or long-term effects of the trauma he went through in prison. I guess people talk a lot about him and Yusef is because they're amazed that someone could go through all that and still have so much strength left.
Fairstein's publisher dropped her after this show was released. She also defended Harvey Weinstein when the allegations first started (which 'She Said' also brings up). The other prosecutor with the glasses and short curly hair, she'd been teaching law for a while but left after the show dropped - though apparently it was more that students who had found out what she'd done before the show was even released started asking for her to be fired but she wasn't until the show was released. Normally I would feel uncomfortable about women losing their jobs, but in this case I say 'Good' in both scenarios.
Your rant in the beginning was spot on. The cop died & Linda F+_$$&5 Fairstein published too many books for my taste. Interesting take on Yousef. Anton still holds a lot of anger for his dad even w his dad being dead now for years.
Part 4 really broke me emotionally I haven't cried like this in a long time Kory had it rough out of all of them please please please watch the special with Ava, Oprah and the cast and the real life men.
26:43 I want his stepmother to apologise for calling him a rapist. I want her to admit that whether or not she likes it, she's married to his father and that he is a part of her life now, she can't just ignore him and act like he didn't live there before she did.
the fact that Korey just went to support his friend and got locked up for 10 years if i remember well in a prison for adults one of the worst prison when he was 16 should tell you how f up the case was and the people working on it were the worst for a situation like this they just wanted to pin that crime on anybody to get rid of this case has fast as they could even if that meant that the women who get rap*** wouldn't get justice properly they didn't care innocent or guilty it's lazy work and racism
25:38 It's even worse to hear her talk like that about the woman who was attacked when you remember Fairstein was involved in the defence of Harvey Weinstein, I think she helped pay off one of the women's silence. Disappointing to remember she still has the money she made of her books, though it's some relief to know it'll be tricky for her to make more money off them since her publisher dropped her after this series was released. Not a lot of relief, but it's something.
Also a bit of relief that the prosecutor with the short hair who argued against them in court either quit or was fired from her job at law school - apparently some students had found out about her and had been asking for her to be fired for some time before this series dropped, then when it did drop they couldn't handle the publicity and the growing demands from students and she either left or was asked to leave.
How is it okay for a bunch of minors to be out passed 9pm on a school night at a park? Why wasnt they inside their homes????? Those kids were neglected by their parents.

PART 4 BROKE ME THE MOST ESPECIALLY SEEING MORE OF KOREY'S STORY😢😢😢

22:42 He'd been attacking women all over the city. If the police had tried a bit harder, they may have saved a few other women from being attacked.

Why was those kids at a park that late at night? Their parents neglected them, those kids were out late at a park on a school night, how is that okay?
The RAPIST had more compassion than the so called law enforcement.
Ain't that sad.. smh

According to Raymond, they still don't have a good relationship
@@raineyj560 that's f up his dad should have end the relationship after what she told him

34:50 Scream as loud as we can. That's the only idea I have. Scream rather than stay silent.
I think it was more than a crunch bar he wanted they probably just didn't want to put that in
33:05 Very understandable
AFTER THIS I HAD TO SMOKE DRINK AND TAKE A NAP.WHEN I WATCHED THE MOVIE.LUKILY IT WAS MY OFF DAY🤦
I think in real life Korey's mother was a lot more accepting of his sister
His sister.
@@SnotRockets55 thank you, I'll correct that. That was a silly mistake to make.
