- Oldschool runescape is a game that is constantly being updated, but one thing we don't see as often are updates that are canceled.
This can have a similar affect or even larger than normal game updates. Well just a few days ago jagex cancelled the ruinous prayers. This has caused some items to plummet in value instantly. So what happens to the runescape economy when jagex cancels an update?

The augury/rigour were gonna be required to use the highest tier offensive mage/ranged prayers in the new prayerbook, which is why they went up so much
That is idiotic, having prayers locked behind a raid isn't good content. Behind a quest makes way more logical.

It's still so weird that the real world economy affects RuneScape. I remember telling my dad a few years ago about this stuff, I don't think he ever expected to hear the phrase "Venezuelan green dragon farmers"
bit of a correction for the arcane and the dex, jagex actually said ur gonna need both of them for some of the new prayers which is why they went up in price
Wait is that still the plan? I was looking forward to the new prayers because I didn't have to pay my entire cash stack to use one prayer lol.

Working on one currently! Took a few month break though.
Jogre bone ride was fun to partake. At various points it was going for top 10-15 moneymakers in a game. I estimated 375 jogre bone average an hour, inside of Jogre Caves, which was my benchmark for judging the profits. Even at it's low points it's still really really profitable, if you are dumping bones at 3k asking price, which is over a mill an hour for a low level monster.
Method is pretty simple - move house to Brimhaven, run to the Jogre cave with a cannon in full grace and a ranged weapon, go to an upper floor and cannon Jogres untill full inventory. Teleport for bank, teleport house, restore and repeat.
I have been using the glory teleports and grappling over with the tree...didnt even think of moving my house lmao. Was grinding for the champions scroll and forgot my bonecrusher necklace and saw how much them shits were going for had to bank the bones after that lol

The peak price i personally caught on more than handful of bones was 15500 per bone. Which is 5.8mil an hour with my estimates, but according to graphs, it was peaking at 20k with over 2k volume, not counting various amounts of up to 100k.
Only reason i didn't partake in it more actively (my total profits about 15mils as of now) is because it's not very fun and i had other things to grind and unlock.
I actually stumbled on Jogre bone train by accident, because i was looking for high-ish volume item with weird margins and under 50k daily volume, to slow buy and then sell at normal price, but i noticed a strange spike on Jogre bones and unusual increase in price. I actually thought it was ongoing price manipulation scheme or something, since Jogre bones seemed pretty useless. And only later i found out about the exploit.
It would be interesting to compare the inflation of the USD to the Bond over the last few years

Yea it pretty sad were not getting the prayer book anymore, but a lot of things i've seen on it made it seem like it was in need of changes but almost there. I think they actually shelved it to work on it some more and we'll see it again.

@@QuantumDivinity It seems like currently Iranian Rial (~514,000 IRR/USD) is the worse, but countries have repeatedly changed their currency after periods of hyperinflation, most memeable case is probably the zimbabwean dollar.

With bonds they going nuts one I grinded bond in f2p so it was disaster…
I have a feeling that the price of bonds increasing is due to bot activity; gold farming and using farmed gold to buy bonds. More bots = more demand which is driving up the bond price.
That's probably only partly true, it's also players amassing more wealth meaning they don't have to pay for membership with real money because they can buy bonds. If you want to buy the premier membership, players will start buying bonds now that they're lower in price, they usually peak in price in november when the premier membership is being offered.

Venator bow is not the best way for whips at all, cannon + barrage in wildy is far quicker kills even just barrage alone , Great mage xp too!

Just change all the prayers in the new prayer book to a skilling based prayer book. Everybody would love that. Prayers such as more yield on herb patches and more yield on fruit tree patches. More yield on birds nest during birdhouse runs, craft more runes while runecrafting, fish extra fish while fishing, use less supplies while crafting such as a chance of using 4 d hides instead of 5 for a body, a prayer where it gives you a chance of accidentally pickpocketing a man twice, a prayer that has a chance to use less material during construction, a prayer that deflects all damage back to opponent as an overhead. Don’t hit that guy cause he has his deflection prayer on so you’re only hitting yourself, but only if he has the right melee style reflection overhead up, extra seeds from birds nests etc, a prayer that had a chance of using less runes while using utility spells, a prayer that stalls the xp while making wines automatically as long as you don’t run out of prayer points. Big xp drops are satisfying lol. A prayer that only works in the wilderness that fully drains your prayer but multiplies your running speed by 1.3x faster for 15 seconds. Puts you at risk by draining your prayer but you should be able to gap a pker. You have to be full prayer points to use it. You could hurry up and pot back up while and try to use the proper overhead reflection prayers while still trying to gap the pker. You don’t have the luxury of protection prayers but can use your deflection prayers and try to evade their damage and return a percentage of the damage they would have hit to their self. Idk, everyone could benefit from a lot of the skilling prayers etc

Can you talk about the Dragon Pickaxe? It crashed to 1.2 mil and already went back to 2.1 mil in the span of a week

I know nothing about pvp or bounty hunter, but why did bounty hunter make whip prices skyrocket? aren't they "recycled" back into the market by the same people pking them from people selling them to people who lost theirs? Or is it just that it has a use now because a lot of people started pking
It's because making a tentacle whip is a one way process, it's a whip sink. It drops as a kraken tentacle upon killing someone in pvp.

Maybe I'm overthinking this, but if 'bonds have gone up', isn't that really a measure of inflation in Runescape? The real value of one high alch cast has gone down.
Bonds have a (somewhat) fixed real world value, they're the best measure of real value I can think of in Runescape; is it wrong to say bonds going up means the RSgp isn't holding its value well compared to the pound sterling?

osrs alreadly has op weapons though like t-bow for example and also ely which makes most bosses more chill, do hope prays come with dt2 somehow still with a work around
It wasn't even overpowered, it was just boring. They were too attached to the old prayers. It was basically just old prayers version 1.1

Supply and Demand should dictate that Bond Prices should, eventually, be worth the Same Transfer Rate of Buying Black Market Gold to the Bond’s Gold Value.
Nah, black market will always be cheaper, or nobody would buy it. People want dollars for gold, and to make that happen they offer a better rate than you get through legitimate means. The bond may go to what black market charges now, but they'll just lower their prices. Especially since the big sites buy gold from individuals and make their money reselling it. We'll never get rid of the black market until the game is dead.
I flipped my d bones some how lmao bought them for 2277 and sold them at 2500 the day after the prayers were canceled

You’ve been trying to predict the price of bonds for years. Hard to predict how many bonds/memberships people buy
for bonds one thing yo u have to keep in mind is how many players cross the threshold of no longer paying cash and just going infinite by purchasing bonds with gold that number should argueably only grow which also will drive the price up.
But there are a lot of people who don't want to play the game properly. They just want to come in and buy there way through the whole game. It's very very hard to play the game properly and make noticeably gp. Bro zulrah is not easy. Vorkath is not easy. Nex is not easy. But neither is getting an Abby whip. Getting 80 slayer nor even getting a bone crusher necklace so you can properly burst. Nor is getting the ash sanctifier.
I would say so far the economy has been very fair in terms of bonds. Even if it increases more in price id say the reasonable cap is 15mil. Anything higher than that is just not valuing the gold from the economy. That is if the player didn't bot for his gp.

It's not that people are "not playing the game properly" it's just after work, kids, errands, etc you only have so much time to play during the week. If you want to drop money from a real job to buy a bond to sell, that's great and benefits the people that buy with gold.

200k really isn't enough to flip with unfortunately. 10m is a commonly recommended starting point, for reference.

The new prayers were pretty much just buffed version of the current ones plus the completly broken vengeace+recoil strengthening prayer.

They need to make it mainly focused on skilling prayers but have like 4-5 combat prayers, for example i liked the duo protection with instead of 100% protection from one its 70% reduction of two with more drain.
No one but 1700 total people want these. Hopefully we never see these "skilling prayers"

In the math I was taught when something doubles in value it goes up 100% and that seems to be the case for zenyte when it went from 7.5 up to past 13.5.

D bones going from 2650 to 2250 isn’t dropping by 30%, it’s not even 20%. A 400 gp drop from 2650 is approximately a 15% drop so about half what you said :)
