    The short answer:
    Because Jagex didn't learn nothing from RS3's economics problems.
    The short explanation:
    If you print money with new broken bosses and don't establish a way or mechanic to burn that money, you get inflation.

      ​@slayer100141 it is the solution for items becoming devalued. All it would do is make gp move around more. I think we would need the opposite and some way to siphon gp out. Taxes feel bad honestly. Something that sucks out large amounts of gold like construction. Maybe sailing will have this cost built in?
      Also making pvm not shit out gp would be nice.

      As for gp theres been some recent lowkey ones but the gp coming in outweighs it, cuz i mustve spent at least 40-50m in death charges from vardorvis and im sure im not the only one that had troubles lol

      It's honestly so refreshing I'm not the only one that noticed. I've quit this game permanently as a result of this dumpster fire economy. Jagex doesn't seem concerned at all about bots I can't support that.

      we should still have time for them to figure it out and turn it around for OSRS. in RS3 they've added trillions of gold worth of MTX "rares" and tanked the economy. I think OS devs are smarter, hopefully they'll add some gold sinks to balance things out

    We're almost hitting the point where a Fang is cheaper than a Bond, while Tbow and Shadow are basically impossible to farm for people who don't already own them. This economy is going insane.

      Zombie pirates plus the new fever spiders show how little they care about balancing money making. Revs have been insane forever but at least with revs there’s more risk and you need to have decent stats to make the big money. Zombie pirates shit gp out to level 40s

    Zombie pirates being in the wildy is balanced from a player perspective, but whether it's the player, the bot, or the PKer that walks out with the loot, all of that is still being brought into the economy. They are the exact opposite of a gold sink.
    Fever spiders seem like someone forgot to add a 0 to the end of each item's drop rate, save for the Kwuarms. A level 42 slayer mob should not be that lucrative. Making everything 10x rarer would not have them be a money task, but rather a low level task where you might leave with a few small upgrades and a bit more money.

      @@sum-dum_nerd Abby demons are not profitable unless you receive a whip, which is a 1/512 drop. Fever spiders give consistent Alchs while also having a lower slayer requirement.
      The comparison just isn’t the same

      @@flawless7019 the comparison im making is the way jagex balances stuff. they dont have a superior, so no chance of imbued heart like you have for kurasks which are notorious for being 1m/hr no imbued heart drop. the time investment is laughable, and this is truely just overhyped. cuz youre not getting 2m/hr at its tier, and i know damn well mains will do it got an hour, get bored, and go raid because thats what i did

      Gold fluctuates between $0.15 - 0.20 per mil on the black market so your 130m would only cost $20-25 on the black matket

    Bond prices have went up due to the fact you can convert a bond to a 14 day code and be sold for cash directly. Its why bond prices have increased a lot more than items.

    I know this is kinda random but I used to do alot of zulra back in the day before some of the nerfs to drop table. So I had bought like 1500 zulandra teleports for around 150-200 each (cuz they were that cheap back then) and once my membership ran out I just stoped playing RS for couple years. Imagine how happy I was once I logged back in into my account after those years and went to kill zulra, only to notice that my teleports who were worth 150-200 gp back then are now worth 20k each.

      @@matthewperkins1334 Because traker only goes back to 2017. In 2015 pre nerf zulrah would drop 50 teleports per drop, no one would even pick it up to save inv space. After 1st nerf still in 2015, they droped 20 at the time. They had some value after that but still, traded at 150-200 gp ea. Only after 2nd nerf where they reduced drop rate from 20 to 1 did they sky rocket. Only in 2017 when they buffed rate from 1 to 4 did theyr drop to 6k. If they cost 6k ea with 4 per drop, imagine how much they cost with 20 or 50 per drop.

    Steam regional price changes hit Argentina and other regions at the end of november 2023, it goes up a bit prior but Ill be honest that was one of the main reasons. Alternate region pricing for bonds was approx 2$usd per bond in those regions. since the change they now use USD currency and as such are now the same cost. Loads of people connected osrs accounts to alt region steams for cheap membership and cheap bonds

      It's not too late. I won't give away the secret exactly, but there are 2 countries you can use on Nord VPN in the $5 range per bond. Ignore Turkey because Lira is hard to get and Brazil because you need a CPF which is also difficult to get

      @@ShiaLaBaggins appreciate it, i wont ask for the countries but I have two questions if you're willing to answer. 1. Do you do this through steam or just their browser bond purchases 2. What are the "easy" ways to get foreign currency? That seemed to be the problem I had, I could get the browser to think I'm in a foreign country but I only know how to pay with USD which would get the browser to switch to US prices once I filled in my payment info. even if you only give me a topic to research myself it'd help

    The main problem is jagex, creating more areas accessible to bots instead of removing the areas where there are more bots (lava dragons, revenants) or simply banning them and implementing better anti-cheating, bots screw up the economy a lot

      Yeah, you’d have to come up with a solution and propose that to Jagex. The thing is, once Jagex implements a fix, the bots will make a workaround. So, it’s always a back and forth battle.

      From a realistic perspective, bots do get banned and do get a lot of the gp that they earn removed from the economy when it ends up being sold in bulk to people. The real issue is how fast you can make gp which is why everything's going up faster than we can get rid of it.

    the OSRS 3a items skyrocketing above max cash suspiciously coincides with RS3's max cash changes which prevented people manipulating the market on mega rares like party hats

    being in the wilderness doesnt mean its "balanced" if someone dies there the money still comes into the game. The wilderness adds entirely way too much raw GP.

      Jagex' approach to Wilderness is IMO very stupid and destructive to game balance. Most players hate PVP, they don't want to come to wilderness. Jagex makes content with extremely overtuned rewards to lure players in as loot pinatas for the PKers to kill. That's how we get mobs with obscene drop tables and other overpowered content like chaos altar. There are some good content like black chins but mostly it's way overtuned
      IMO Jagex should just stop their attempt to revitalise the Wilderness. Nerf the Wilderness bosses and other content to be in line with other content in the game, then let them be, if people don't want to go to Wildy then they don't go

    the bonds in osrs are tied to rs3 bonds as well, rs3 bonds hit 135m recently.
    the max cash stack was already changed in rs3 to cmb items over max cash as well we got the ge tax in rs3 too.

      Brokers fees to list a transaction on the GE. Regardless of whether it sells. That’s a major money sink in EVE Online, Guild Wars 2, and I think even WoW.

      There is simply just very little that can be done about it other than adding a skill that sucks out 200m gold per 99. But even that is just a bandaid. I mean how much gold is injected every single day just from high alching?

      @mmmhowbowfoqyew Jagex could change how loot in Wilderness works. Make it so if you die to another player, half of the loot is deleted (and the other player gets the rest. That way there is still an incentive to go to wildy because the potential loot is better than elsewhere, but all of it doesn't enter the economy if you die

    The May 23rd update changed the Fever Spider drops from Rune Helm/Battleaxe to Adamant Helm/Battleaxe. Water Battlestaffs have also been changed to limpwurts roots. Checked the OSRS Fever Spider wiki as I was watching.

      @@ponytoast1231 the G.E. tax is 1% of the total buyers gold spent and the sellers gold received. Jagex themselves have openly stated that it’s used to remove high-end items from the game to artificially increase the value.

I also googled it and Jagex said it was meant to remove gold from the game because there is too much of it as I thought. It should help decrease the price but not the items. Unless people are refusing to sell for lower prices because of price anchoring with them waiting for prices to pick back up but with a new gold sink the price can't pick back up.

Working for one hour in a actual job will give you more than enough to play the game for 1+ months. (way more than 1 month with premier pass)

    I started playing osrs earlier last year, and I got my first bond for 6.5m and it wasn't very hard for me, took a break for a couple months because I was a little burned out and they haven't dropped below 10m since. Unless I can learn an actually decent money maker I might not be able to keep doing my bondscape grind sadly. I really wanted to keep this account f2p since osrs is such a beautiful f2p model compared to all the other garbage these days

      coming from someone whos played since like...07. On and off. Dont play to grind for money to buy a bond. Its so un fun and all your money just goes back into a bond instead of your gear and fun stuff. Just buy it irl. Literally mow 1 lawn if you cant afford it or do some chores or idk go beg on the street.

Now though it's actually pretty tough to keep the bond money up while still having gold to spend. Also I got to like 1500 total level for my first ever time really playing OSRS so not like I was in the big boy leagues yet where I needed 100+m for gear and stuff

    So, OSRS is written in Java, and the value for max cash is the maximum value allowed for the int primitive. Jagex needs to rewrite the coin class so it is a long primitive. This shouldn't cause the need to rewrite a lot of the codebase since Java automatically widens values from int to long. Anyhoo, good video. Thanks

    Since toa and dt2 many of us have made billions upon billions
    The game is absolutely overloaded with gold and it keeps increasing
    The mad thing is bond prices go up while gold gets dirt cheap
    The systems gonna sort itself out at this rate because gold just won't be worth selling
    Even if people buy billions the influx of sellers because of these money makers and such
    ( many leviathan bots 10k kc ) each of them has printed 2-4billion alone

    And the reason for my hypothesis: rev bots
    Yes yes yes, zombie pirates, people being scared to rwt gp, raids shitting out alchs.. but no, single handedly, rev bots literally injecting trillions of raw GP into the game is the #1 reason for this.

    I'm sure the OSRS team could fix/raise the max cash issue, which they'll probably need to at some point. They already did this on RS3 with an invisible workaround so it's definitely possible. RS3 max cash now is 2,147,483,649,147,483,647 or 2.147 quintillion

    At this rate, by the end of the year, membership will be unsustainable without nolifing raids. Like, literaly. like 4 years ago I bought a year's worth of membership for two of my accounts for like 150mil total. 2 months ago I've spent 200m+ on a single account. It's literally insane.

      Job, unless you’re not old enough to work is the best way. Even if you have a $15/hr job, that’s nearly 28M per hour assuming bonds are at 14M each.

For now it's still easy to sustain bond, but with the rising prices I don't know... Plus not everybody lives in the US, in Europe it's 11€ which is 1 to 2 hours of actual work

    I remember a couple years ago I got a bond on a ftp account and it took a solid 3 days of grinding to get and i was so happy to finally be able to be a member. Then when i realized i needed to make that money all over again just to stay in members i burnt myself out just trying to keep up with membership let alone progressing my account. That's back when bons were going for 4-5m I can't even imagine trying to do the same today. It kills off so many new players from wanted to play bc either they can't afford membership or can't keep up with the price of bonds.

And no it's not easier bonds use to be 2-3m each even a ftp player could easily afford one with telegrabbing wines of zammy. Now try to do that and the grind is 10x as long. Once you get your account to nex you'll already have been a member for 6-12 months. I used to be able to sustain membership just doing 3-4 herb runs and birdhouse runs a day but now I can't even afford half of one lol

    Bond will likely reach it's crest this summer, the bubble also burst so hard no one bought a bond during a six hour period before it crashed under 11m before swinging back up to 12-13 now

    I’m just really tired of Jadex doing this, they will throw a bag of sledgehammers at a problem when it comes to buffing the pve drops. But then they take their time removing one grain of sand at a time when it comes to the tidal wave of gold in the game. It was nice that 07scape didn’t have this problem when it launched, but now where back where we stared. I do t expect them to do much, just try and remove the problem one grain of sand at a time.

    The main people buying bonds are bot farms, it’s the only thing that makes sense to me. Jagex needs bot farms for their profits and frankly it seems we do too for some things. Everyone complained when the price of Prayer pots and Sharks went up because no one wants to do that many farm runs and 76 fishing is a very high bar for an item you need a dozen of before you do any combat task.

    I've found the profit from dailies like farm runs, bird runs, etc have also gone up so maintaining a bond isn't quite that different than when it was 6m
    Easily 20m bonds end of the year imo

    Theirs a very big difference between wealth injection and gold injections. For example runes and bones and herbs can become gold for the player that obtained them, but their worth gold they don’t directly become gold. On the other hand, dragon hide armors, addy gear, these don’t really do anything but become gold adding to the economy. Jadex really really needs to not just add some real gold sinks, but need to really lay off those alckables and find some way to get player to transfer items for wealth not for direct gold.

    The last idk 10 updates have introduced almost purely alch value based drop tables, like wildy agility, skely pirates, fever spiders and even the colloseum can drop millions in alchs per run, basically everything has been easy to bot and considering ban rates are down it’s hard to say this isn’t all just to increase the price of bonds, though if you look at the real estate market bonds have been keeping up with that level of inflation pretty close lmao

    This is one of those instances where I feel like Warding or some other proposed skill should be added. Something that basically acts as a money sink that can take money out of the in-game economy. Honestly, I feel like this is one of the few things RS3 got right in the form of Summoning and Invention. I'm hoping that Sailing at least serves a similar role to help deflate the economy a little bit.

    It's sad really, I was going to try and get into runescape due to watching a lot of Settled, and play f2p to grind for a bond, but after seeing how expensive the bonds are, I was kind of put-off, I don't want to spend real money on a bond if I'm not going to enjoy the game.

    I believe the biggest source of gold in the game is High alch. It produces so much gold to the game and is a training method that everyone uses.
    If Jagex wants to fix this I would change it to produce gold bars instead of gold coins. High alch an item to an item instead of pure gold.

    Take a look at Dragon Bolts and the unfeathered version. Likely nex bots bringing them in given Torva at a low now too. Fletching is a good skill to train if you want to bank on bolts recovering!

    OSRS $0.17 per mill.
    8$ per bond at 15m would make that $0.50 per mill exchange rate from jagex.
    This means bonds can double to around 40m.
    I don't see them going much higher then 50-60m in future.

    the amount of gold coming into the game is insane right now. Every dragon item is valued on the G E for under it's alch price. So if a player is smart they are alching every drop they get up to every dragon item they get. The game has never been like that they cant sink that kind of cash.

      nah, because then gold seller prices would still be constant, but the gold seller prices go down as bond prices go up. so essentially both are just a symptom of gp inflation

    Got a fang drop yesterday, after GE tax I received under 15m. And the only place I've found the glaives to be useful is in scaled CoX for Olm Head. Certainly felt like I got value out of it in a 5+4. I couldn't name you a second place to use it, though. I use it on on a few other bosses in CoX (it's not terrible on momma muta) since I'm bringing it anyway, but that's more for memes than actual benefit. I really hope they buff that item because it does feel cool to use.

      @@hardup9809 Bonds are only sold on the ge by players, a bond must be purchased, there is a finite amount of bonds. Honestly what is happening is low supply of bonds and the demand is the same or has gone up since I bet more players are active recently due to big game updates.

    The Voidwaker not recovering is almost certainly due to there being no item sink for VW or it's pieces unlike virtually all other rares. Other rares are botted as well, bots are not the explanation.

    Gold is massively inflated in osrs. And with nature runes under 100gp it's only going to get worse.
