- oldschool runescape is fundamentally a game about progress and upgrades. There are 100's of different gear and progression upgrades you can unlock, but what are they most impactful.
Today I am going to be going over the 20 strongest upgrades I think you can get in osrs. These will be selected based on how impactful they are to your account at the time. Obviously there are loads of items you could choose, but I personally feel these upgrades make the biggest difference.

I had that and even early items and lost it XD. Back in the grind but kept 99 woodcutting from old runescape.

The house upgrade was certainly the highlight for how I play personally.
Not only is the convenience of having access to many teleports and free healing beneficial as a given, but I found that these tools allow for much more content to now be reasonably performed, and new content methods to be opened up. Infinite run energy for actions such as rune crafting, time and money saving doing clue scrolls, changing spell books with greater ease for magic training, killing bosses, or any other content that has you moving around the map frequently all spring to mind.
Would be nice, but since I’m a poor I just use workless’ house in w330
Max house is undoubtedly the best upgrade in the game in terms of how much it improves every aspect of the game. If cost were no concern and I could only choose one, I would choose max house over the Twisted Bow.

IDK I have always found it better to use hosted houses instead of investing in my own. Just not worth the money when I can use someone else's home for an added few seconds of typing the name in.

This list is great, it's really all you need for a ton of content. I recently had to rebuild from scratch and I was shocked how good all this stuff was. I like how there is decent gear available for not a ton of money because a lot of BIS items in OSRS are stupid expensive.

I would add the fury as well. This is a relatively cheap item you use basically everywhere. It's great for melee and ranging and can be used at a lot of bosses and slayer tasks. Good placeholder until you get the anguish and torture.
Fury is the best all around ammy in the game, but suffers from not specializing in anything particular. Blood fury, however, is the most OP piece of equipment in the game
Fury is so good for bandos tanking
the zenyte jewellery doesnt actually give any defensive bonuses so fury still gets used in certain scenarios at max level
Use the fury alot if your tank or pvp
Good for pures and zerker too

the best thing I did to my account all year was 84 construction, gets the final nexus unlock with max teles, definitely worth the extra level if you can afford it. In contrast needing 90 for combo tree rings is not worth it unless you have lots of spare gp, just live with having 3 superior gardens.
yes 84 is huge underrated, full nexus + full menagerie + a couple other upgrades to poh
to people that are far away from barrows gloves, you an buy granite gloves from the ge, 32k, its like rune gloves for crush style, so after your rune scmitar you can upgrade to a granite hammer (106k), or a leaf bladed battleaxe (63k), or a cudgel (140k).
Would love to see an underrated items vid. IMO things like the herb sack or rune pouch have been super useful, and nobody seems to talk about them. Great vid though!

nezzy helm and void set. both incredibly strong, free, and long lasting.
void sucks until ur combat stats are 90+
@@ramonvolp3663 false + the alternatives are prohibitively expensive for most people who are under 90+
The problem with void is its a 10 hour grind that's outclassed by welfare gear. Blessed dhide is better than ranged void, a fighter torso with obsidian legs is better than melee void, mystic set with eternal boots is better than mage void.
All are worse than elite void, but if you spend the time it takes to get elite void doing any moderately efficient money maker, you'd be able to afford full bandos, armadyl, and ahrims with an elidinis ward.
Void is good in like three niche scenarios, and in those scenarios, it's not far and away the best option, or even indisputably the best option. Void is a waste of time unless you're a med level pker on a budget
@@ainmosni22 I highly doubt you can make enough gp for bandos ahrims and armadyl in only 10 hours. seems extremely unrealistic

No lie with the fairy rings man. Absolutely a BEAST of an unlock with surprisingly low/med-low requirements. Travelling can go one of two ways ;Chronicle, laws, jewelry, running everywhere or a•l•q b•i•q b•k•r
I think another good mention would be the bone crusher. Not only is it free prayer exp and prayer being super expensive to lvl. But paired with a Dragonlance necklace at a meek 70k cost, that adds a +12 prayer bonus you can camp monkeys to train your range and mage with 0 potion cost cost.
The only time ive even felt those were needed was at monkeys so its kind of nieche
Reanimating creatures using arcceus is quite cheap compared to bones on gilded altar. Still longer tho

6:34 Do slayer with a cannon. It's honestly the best way to progress your account. It's not as fast as chinning ranged, but eventually you're gonna need to do slayer anyway and cannoning is usually the fastest way to train it. Even without chins ranged is super fast if you just use your cannon.
Cannons are so much cheaper than I imagined for the speed they offer, they are so insanely powerful.

I just recently did my Dragon Defender grind on my new main account. 1,073 kills at the basement Cyclopses before it dropped, I was ready to rage quit OSRS.
If that is a long grind to you, you’re in for a bad time 😂😂😂

Right that’s what I was gonna say had recently got my trident at 75 mage then a couple weeks later the change to 78 hit and I was big sad 😢 but now over 85 so meh 😂

The new ToA mage shield is an INCREDIBLY cheap 5% mage bonus compared with ancestral. Easily worth buying for all progressing accounts after they've picked up bracelets

Something else I'd like to highlight is imbuing the enchanted lyre you get from the Fremennik Trials quest. It costs around 2m to upgrade (going down with each Fremennik Diary you've completed, around 1m at medium and around 500k at elite) and gives you infinite teleports. Combine this with moving your house to Rellekka and you now have infinite free teleports to just outside your house portal.
I didn't consider this before, but man, that is an amazing suggestion. I guess you could theoretically do the same thing with the eternal teleport crystal and moving your home to prifddinas.
Construction was genuinely the best upgrade to my account I’ve done so far. Made life so much easier

99 construction was my first (and currently only) 99 skill. It was well worth it and I have no regrets.

Level stats being criminally underrated is so true. Went to osrs and focused on mage, now my highest stat, and I’m close to invincible at level 59 for the parts of the game I’m in. I have decent defense, high magic, and high range. I’m working on getting swampbark until I can get level 77 runecrafting. It’s been so nice to just tear down monsters, get through quests, and make tons of runes.
I have a moneymaker idea i'd like you to try. I see several runes being dropped at GOTR, would love to know what the gp/hr it is. maybe it's a niche good money maker, or it could be garbage

Blood fury, its ridiculous how good it is for recovering from chip damage or mistakes.
trident is 78 magic bro but love the content keep it up
The Fang is obviously a great generalist weapon, but it is not better than the Lance at either Hydra or Vorkath, and is only better at Olm if you miss all DWH specs. It only flatly outperforms the lance at Rune Dragons.
If you want to do some Corp KC, though, Fang is where it's at.
Fang is better than lance vs vorkath if you're using a dfs and any helmet besides torva, with torva helm and/or avernic defender lance is better. If you have an infernal cape, serp, and dfs, the fang is extraordinarily marginally better, it's a difference of 0.036 dps wearing torva top and bottom, 0.035 with bandos. I'm not arguing against your point, just adding additional info.
This may not a universal, but I've run numbers for most common vork setups at max stats, and it seems to hold up.
Lance, as far as I can tell, is universally better vs hydra.
The fact that it can be seriously compared to the lance and rapier at all proves how much of an upgrade it is over the whip. Absolutely worth the money
I remember getting compliments on my fury amulet back in 2008. Sad to see it become mid tier.

2001-2004 player, my first abyssal whip costed me 1.8mil and that was a lot of work to get that xD

Lol the barrows glove thing is so true. Such an iconic upgrade. I remember people mocking everyone over the last decade and a half at all minigames like Pest Control, or a combat minigame wearing the combat bracelet.

6:00 only one of those were tier 75. And you need 84 with the boosts for max nexus.
Dragon defender took me 4 days about 10 hours a day i was so unlucky, after the first dropped 3 more dropped in 10 mins lol

I haven't played RS since EoC killed the game (in 2013?) I wish there was a video for someone wanting to catch up on the biggest changes that were made to osrs. From what some friends have told me, the PKing I'm familiar with from 10+ years ago is long gone.
It’s not that the mechanics are different for pvp it’s just that everyone lost interest

I’m currently stuck, money is scarce and I need 15-20 levels in Con, Herb, Farm and Crafting. My combat level is 99 with 77Att 81str 72def 70 pray and 81 range 75mage, any tips?
barrows is just over 1m an hour and very easy with those stats

make sure you are using the 64 bit version of rl. it downloads the 32bit by default. 64 bit way smoother
Just to add onto getting your levels if you are waring almost max gear minus sang and ancestrals you get the same dps increase from 94-99 magic as you do spending that 300mil to upgrade to full ance + sang. Unless your talking about super big ticket items like

Unless you get the gear and passively level your stats at a faster rate? Then you have the 99 stats and the gear no? Every scenario.

For range it is more prominent. u can get 99 range, full elite void, rigour anguish ava's assembler, blessed boots and range pot and yr pretty much max hit on your range. and its cheap compared to like a full set of masori or armadyl.
also leveling range increases both accuracy & dmg compared to melee strength which only increases dmg. so i would say get ur range lvls up.
For the poh just go to a house party world that’s also easy
