Though I strongly disagree with a lot of the monetization points you made, big thank you/respect for talking about the game wholistically. Too many, especially big, content creators think the balance (that I think most people know will be adressed), is the main source of why there is so much negativity. Based on reading the steam reviews, it seems like a majority are more angry about the monetization and the modding situation. So I appreciated you covered all aspects.
Trailers should be announced at PlayStation Showcase 2023, Summer Game Fest 2023, SDCC 2023, State of Play September 2023, Tokyo Game Show 2023, and TGA 2023
Intros should be changed
Rage arts should be fixed
All 32 characters should have their story introduction appearances, theme song, and own stages in their trailer
There should be Arcade Story Mode

Thought this was the "best" fighting game ever made though? Jokin' rose tint is off finally and many people are overreacting while others have the correct response and I'll tell you this! Are we really shocked about the microtransactions? TT2 had an online pass during the PS3 and Xbox360 era for 30 dollars. To play online...you had to pay 30 bucks or get the game "new".
That still not doing it for you? TR F2P tekken is excusable cause they needed to make money even though it was TT2 with different shaders and a few new mechanics with no tag but it was P2W...literally. Still not enough T7 lied about legacy characters being "free" and than harada played it off as a joke as he charged us for them and is that still not good enough? Broken DLC characters which again P2W...more so Leroy and if that still isn't good enough? The game that charged Frame Data...we as a tekken community are blind as bats or really dimwitted because TEKKEN has always been scummy.

Sparking Zero is going to do nothing for the FGC or Tekken 8. Arena fighters didn't stick around much longer or have competitive support compared to fighting games. If Street Fighter V, with a terrible state at launcher, surpasses Naruto Storm 4, what do you think a button mash DBZ game that people are just jumping because nostalgia is going to do against Tekken 8? Especially, he is probably going to launch in the same year as 2XKO, which is a much bigger name than DB Sparking.

DBZ games normally do a lot better than average fighting games because of mass appeal. Look at DBFZ sales then look at SFV sales. Hell it even sold more than SF6 lol. That’s taking into account first week sales as well.

These issues are not really exclusive to tekken. Rq, netplay UX, And the monetization are ass all across multiple games rn. Even from perspective a lof gameply neutral is taking back seat to offfense rpg atm.

Nah man, aside from balance the pro players love this game.
The game is still brand new and hasn't gotten an arcade run for the first time, the balance is actually pretty decent for a launch patch.

When you play the game it really feels like theyre to prey on your dopamine rush casino part of your brain instead of making an actual interesting fighting game like theyve done for 30 years. I feel like the whole game from character design to gameplay design to monetization is just purely made with trying to get you addicted to the rush of the game and trick you into buying scummy dlc. I dont even mind paying for dlc but it just feels like an insult when you how cheaply they ported the content from tekken 7 straight to 8 and ask money for it
If these people really cared about their games (I mean, really cared), they wouldn't be too harsh. I believe all that screaming and yelling behind a computer screen would only scare publishers away. Anger, cynicism, and mob mentality can be like a drug that's not easy to overcome.

I'm reading a lot of these comments about people saying Tekken 7 had an arcade release and Tekken 8 didn't so we are in Tekken 8 vanilla.
Let me just say imagine if Dice said the reason why BF2042 was such terrible and incomplete game was because they didn't have an arcade release like before. People would fucking laugh and continue to shred Dice and tell them 'well release the game complete'.
To me its no different. Tekken 8 should have released more complete. That's on the developers.
Tekken Is a Fighting Game which you would expect to Have a Arcade Versions of Arcades were still a Big Thing like all Past Tekken games. Not a Shooter which would just have a Open Beta.

The Purpose of the Arcade Version was To see if the Game needed Polishing and Also It was in Arcades( People used to go to Them with Coins to Play Fighting Games and Arcade Versions were Actually Harder than Console Versions in Difficulty Especially Tekken 2, Mk 2 Sf etc.
Street fighter 5 had a worse launch and now people don’t like 6 cause it’s not like 5,they’ll fix it later but it shows it had potential to be fixed and the problems aren’t really the fundamentals of the game
people dont like 6 because it removed the identity of SF. Into the trend of high dmg, 50/50 mix, snowballing pressure and reducing skill gap killing footsies and defense. Same with tekken. Not because it isn't 5. No one cares about 5.

I agree with U on the Tekken8 shop. It's actually really well implemented. I'm not a fan of overspending for the battle pass. But with the $5 for 500 coins to get $4 is quite good. As for the mods. Well the publishers are mostly going after using actual assets they have. But bikini and maids are fine. But the fact they even went after fans over it is bad. No Matt your stance. That's a bad move on bandais part.
Well they dekete mod videos snd some persons channel got banned entirely. Even tweets get taken fown do advertising any mods is no longet allowed.
Look I understand it's a little broken but this game is really good and will only get better with time plus this is the first time they launched a Tekken without it being in arcade for a year first so I cut some slack on that

I love Tekken 8. The devs put so much love in it. Sure, there are some things that are not great. But it kinda hurts me to see how harsh people are about this beautiful game. I really think it is something of this time. 😢

Lol The gatekeepers are annoying and they also don’t have basic math skills. The problem is they want to feel special because they’re in purple or blue rank. We had a chart that showed how many people or in specific links, just being in Orange would means you’re in about 50% of players, so realistically anything is better than orange is good. As somebody that is Tekken king rank, I have no problem saying people in red rank are good and The players that are around my rank need to stop with their gatekeeping.
People just gotta wait. The arcade release for Tekken 7 was just as bad, if not worse, than Tekken 8 is right now. The console release for Tekken 7 had more polish because they took the year between releases to figure out which direction they wanna take with the game.
Im not saying it justifies the $70+ price tag or its monitization tactics, but at least for the gameplay, you just gotta let Harada cook. Its only been about 2 months, the games still pretty young
