THANKS A TON, my washer would not drain. Another youtuber (whirlpool demo guy) suggested replacing the motor not even showing to clear drain hose. I did exactly what you did and I had filler from a pillow top bed protector I washed last night was stuck in drain which I should have taken it to a commercial laundromat, It was stuck near the motor area thank god I stuck my finger inside to feel because all other areas of the drain hose was clear. Thank You Thank You Thanks for video. Soaked up cloths are draining now as I am typing. I wish you had a Patreon because you just saved me a ton of funds.
Thanks for the comments Melisssa, our 'Patreon' is here: www/espares.co.uk. We would just be happy for you to remember us next time you need any parts or accessories for any of your household or garden appliances. 😊
You are a star! having drained the machine by hand and found £20 and 20p, it still wasn't working, the step by step instructions on removing and clearing the pump were invaluable, (back's a bit sore today though!). many thanks.
Debra Mary Glad you sorted the problem and even got paid for it (LOL). You must always take care in moving heavy objects as it can be easy to cause yourself injury if you do not lift it correctly. :-)
Thank you so much! I fixed my washer, and Sears first told me they were going to charge me a ton of money to come to my house to do a service call and repair... but it was only the filter plugged up. The washer is working like a charm now and the teenagers are now happy.
Dude! THANK YOU SO MUCH! You just saved me 50€, that was the minimum charge for any simple repair that I've found so far today, since all the places/technicians I called were very busy and couldn't come to my place in less than 4 hours, I said to myself, well you can always try to repair it yourself and you always got RUclips; the draining pump was stuck with a piece of fabric, I feel like superman! hahaha! Once again, thank you! Greetings from Barcelona, Spain.
will do. just after i removed the sock from the filter i ran a quick wash on empty and got a totally new error E10 - never had this one before. Any ideas? the water hose filters are clean and there aren't any kinks in any of the pipes
Hi Omar, E10 refers to an issue with the water level so check the water pressure first, make sure they are no blockages in the water valve before suspecting the valve.
Thank you!! I was getting ready to buy a whole new machine. Found a bunch of crude in the filter and fiber around the impellers. I cleaned everything and now it runs like a champ.
Thank you SO much - I just followed your video and now my machine is working again - it was a 5p stuck in the pump! And I did it all by myself, very happy!! Susie
+susie hamilton Glad you sorted the problem Susie. One word of warning, If you accidentally leave a pound coin (or Euro) in your pocket and it catches between the drum and tub on spin it can break a hole in the drum and flood your home. Always check your (and others) pockets before loading the machine. :-)
Fantastic video - You guys have just saved me £350 - heard a strange noise in the machine then all of a sudden it wouldn't drain a thing. Followed the tips in the video and there was a small piece or metal from a pair of shorts chewed up inside the pump. Really can't thank you enough!
Well done James, by catching this early it sounds like the pump is OK. This is the reason why fire brigades advise about not leaving appliances running overnight as something in your pocket like a paper clip or even a match can cause a pump to overheat and potentially catch fire.
Great video, my washing machine was not draining the water, followed the video and found a small piece of plastic stuck on the pump, took very little effort and was easy to do with simple tools.
Thanks for the comments. We have several diagnosis videos for washing machines as well as tumble dryers, dishwashers cookers, fridges and other products. If you need help identifying a problem remember to them out.
Reply to Tommy Redzinski: Hi Tommy, glad to hear you resolved your problem with our help. To ensure your dishwasher doesn't block again and to improve its performance make sure anyone using the dishwasher rinses ALL food traces of the plates Before placing in the machine. Food in dishwashers may take a while to break down and clear the machine so will often leave 'crustie particles' on glasses and plates and will sometimes block the machine. Simply by rinsing under the tap you will see an instant increase it the quality of cleaning and avoid this problem.
Hello, Just wanted to say thank you for the advise, the front filter was empty, so we tipped the machine over and just as you said there was a sock in the rubber pump , the machine is working perfectly and i didn't need to call some one out . thanks again
+dena2349 Great news, may we recommend a couple ofother videos that should help your washing machine to last longer:ruclips.net/video/uKBy-9NEF5A/видео.html and ruclips.net/video/ifWK9df1qgg/видео.html
Hi there thanks so much for these highly informative and well produced videos. I have a Miele W504, and a spare/repair machine of the same type. How do I change the chip on the module? Backstory: drain pump does not stop whenever the machine is on with the door closed. Checked and it’s not a flooding problem. Engineer came to take a look and said it probably needs a new chip on the module.
Hi OG OrganicGardens, the engineer that came out is talking about soldering a new chip onto the module, you will need to check you can get the chip and have the right skill and equipment to do it.
Our LG frontloader washing machine pump stopped working. After watching your video, I opened up the pump with a bit of scepticism but wow, there was a rubberband coiled around the pump propeller! Thank you so much for your video as I automatically saved $75 call out fee and further potential labor costs!
HI, In addition to the labour costs there is often the time waiting for the engineer and sometimes you may even have to arrange time off to be home for the Engineer to attend. For these reasons we hope you visit our channel next time you have a problem as we may again help you resolve your problem. :-)
Clear and helpful video, thanks Josh. Problem turned out to be an 18 month old who likes to hide things in the wash basket, a few of them found their way into the filter, drainage pipe and the pump. I'm amazed the thing ever worked! Anyway, after a good clear out its running perfectly. No spares needed this time but if I ever need them in future, I know where to come. Thanks again, saved me a bundle ;)
Well Thankyou eSpares for your help, advice and support. We have ordered a New washing machine as the repair costs on our old W/M was more than the machine was worth! It was narrowed down to the PCB...Again Thanks!
Great guide, going to go and check to see if this helps my washing machine.. its very difficult to sense the problem as when the water drum is empty and I take the filter off and pour some water into the outpipe the water goes into the drum and direct out onto my floor.. but it simply won't drain no matter what while attempting to drain..
Great video. My machine wasn't draining, the first step you suggest; clearing out the filter. It worked. It was blocked by those colour catching sheets. Again, great video.
Hi Kenneth, Thanks for your comments. Two quick tips, 1 Use a safety pin to attach colour catchers to dark washing will ensure you do not loose another one into the pump. 2 Washing powder that is not sold as being for colours contains bleach (check your box) this is what fades colours and blacks turn grey. If you use a colour powder on these colours remain good and you are less likely to make colour to run and need a colour catcher.
Hi Simon, if this was a new installation and the hose connects onto a spigot under the sink keep the counter. It will be needed if you remove the appliance or sink water can drain from the pipework and cause flooding.
great, nice simple explanation. I bought a replacement drain pump for my Indesit W123 (now nearly 16+ years old but still working great - until the pump failed that is..!) Only then thought..DOH! Ahh, what's the easiest way to access it..? Simple, as in the video, put the machine on it's side and get access from underneath...!!! DOH 2 ! 2 screws, 1 plug in electrical connector and 3 easy hose clips.... JOB DONE...! YESSSSSS! Thanks guys..!
Hi Michael, good to hear this. Its nice to think that sometimes a problem can be cured just by carrying out a minor 'repair' without even needing spare parts.
Hi Josh, many thanks for your assistance in fixing the pump problem in our Bosch washing machine. Your tip to check the pump impeller for something snagged in it was well founded , as here in lay the problem with a few strands of hair stuck in it. We were saved an engineer call out. Thanks again Conor .
Thanks for showing us how to simply clean this machine. I am pretty sure the problem was the filter and thanks to this video it was easy to figure out.
Hi Pieter, glad you enjoyed the video and found it useful. On the subject of cleaning check out the following video as most people will suffer from the problems shown and not know the best way to tackle them: ruclips.net/video/ifWK9df1qgg/видео.html :-)
Thanks to your video, I was FINALLY able to find out how to replace the large drain hose clamp after taking it off because it had been making a large whining noise instead of entering the rinse cycle (turns out that a padlock key was stuck in the hose). I was going to test the washer, then try replacing the drain motor pump, and then give up and buy a new washer, but couldn't get to those steps since I couldn't get the clamp on tightly enough and I was about to give up and buy a new washer (it's had the telltale noise of a broken spider arm for a couple of years anyway). My washer is back in business now, though, so for Christmas I don't have to go to the laundromat after all. Thank you!
Hi ClarkLark, we have videos for replacing most types of parts including the sump hose: ruclips.net/video/Q7sdgmuxfjE/видео.html If you cannot find information on a particular problem leave a comment and we will try and help. :-)
Brilliant, thank you. I was foxed by a drain error code but there was nothing in the filter. Turns out a 50p coin will go through the drum side gap but not from the sump pipe to the filter housing so it can get stuck and block the hole. Pulled off the sump hose and there was the culprit. I could not have done this repair without this video, and as the machine is two months out of extended warranty I was facing a big repair or replacement bill. Not only that I won the 50p back.
To add to this: when you take the sump off and find a 50p coin, don't stop there. Check the whole sump pipe while you have it disconnected. I had to do the whole job twice because there was a £2 coin stuck further up the pipe in the corrugations which I didn't spot earlier. The first thing you see may not be the only thing in there!
Just pulled my pump out, there was a small piece of was looked like dirt in there, it just crumbled when i rolled it between my fingers, hard to believe something so small and fragile could stop a pump. Thanks for the video.
Great video. Spoke clear "English" with simple demonstrations. Going to attack mine tonight that leaves water behind but cycles correctly. The maintenance people where I live think their purpose is to do your task last and sloppy.
Thanks for the comments Peter. You need to ensure pockets are checked better as a coin can punch a hole through the tub wall and cause extensive damage to machine and home. 😊
What an awesome company very clear instructional video that saved us a huge engineer bill, we will recommend you to everyone and use you in future should we require any spares .Many Thanks
That's a good tip for any one who has a 'wet vacuum or carpet cleaner' but do remember that the machine can hold a couple of gallons (9 litres+) of water so be ready for this. :-)
Thanks heaps for this vid which gave me the confidence to remove the pump assembly from my washing machine and then remove a rubber band which was preventing the impeller form turning.
Well done Kaine, dont forget that everyone must check the pockets to prevent foreign objects causing damage to the machine so this was a good reminder to everyone. :-)
Thanks for the video..... For general knowledge.... On my Bosch Nexxt 300 series WFMC2201UC, the specifications from the repair manual are as follows. Measure resistance all parts disconnected. Heater 13.7 - 15.2 ohms NTC 22.8 - 27.4 kilo ohms @68 degrees F. Water inlet valves 2.7 - 4.5 kilo ohms. Drain pump 140 - 200 ohms. Also, E13 can be a pain to fix.....Usually is the pump, but also too much detergent being used can throw that code too. One often overlooked repair is to remove both drain hoses and thoroughly clean them out. They may be restricting drainage flow from pump. (One hose comes from pump to back of washer from inside machine. The other is the drain hose from the back of machine on the outside.) These hose can get clogged with all sort of crap and build up. OK....still with me? Steps for a happy Bosch washer. Clean drain hoses or replace. Descale heater element. Clean water inlet valves. Try a little spray of auto brake cleaner spray into front and back of valves......Obviously wipe excess and run some empty wash cycles. Mine cleared out some stuff. Check to make sure screens are clear too. Check water supply hoses for good water pressure. (disconnect and see how water flows into bucket. Should be a pretty strong flow. Clean pump trap....or replace pump if needed. I hope this helps some people with their repairs.
First thing I was gonna do was open the back and change the pressure sensor. Thank god I was busy and your video played right after the one that talks about pressure sensor. And by yours playing I just manage to catch the bit about elastic band in the sump. I drained the sump and surprise surprise, there was an elastic band in there
Hi Jemmy, you would be surprised at the amount of bits that end up in the filter and block the pump. Always check pockets when loading the machine as a coin can punch a hole in a plastic tub causing a flood and scrapping a machine. For more useful information see these other videos: ruclips.net/video/0AnLPqcQAmA/видео.html
Wow thank you! I´ve found several toothpics and a wet wipe in the filter for the pump but I did need to put the machine on the side on the floor and loose the drain hose to get it away. But I¨m so happy it worked!
+Sibichan Ouseph Your problem may be due to water returning into the machine through the drain hose. If the hose connects directly onto pipe work under a sink make sure the pipe goes up to just under the work surface or water can run down the hose into the machine.
You can often empty a machine by lowering the drain hose below the water level into a bowl. Failing that lean the machine backwards so the water is below the door and unplug the machine, when the door opens you can then use a sponge to bail out the water.
Hello, great video, very clear and explanatory! Thank you so much for sharing you knowledge with us :-) Just one small question, my LG machine doesn't drain at all, yet I can hear it working, I cleaned up the filter as well as the sump hose (some coins were stuck there) but no luck, I also lowered the drainage hose but it didn't work, do you have any other suggestion? Thank you for your time!!!
Hi Natasha, It sounds like you may have a blockage in the hose (see around 1:40 onwards in the video). If it wont drain to a container below the level of the water you may need to remove the sump hose and check for a missing sock or small item.
Natasha Livanou Hello again! I checked all the hoses, as well as the pumping pella, unfortunately there is no debris inside and still the water is not draining. I can hear the pump working though. Any suggestions? Thank you for your time!
Natasha Livanou Did the water drain when the pipe was lowered?. If only slowly you have a blockage somewhere. IF connected to a sink pipe check the hose end is not blocked.
Thank you so much for Espares and especially for this video , engineer Josh :) You saved £50 for me by explaining blockages and a big noise during the drying possess. Thank you so much indeed xx
Thanks for the excellent video. I have a Beko washing machine which stopped draining after a rattling noise was heard which I assume to be a coin. I manually drained the machine and checked the machine filter which was unfortunately empty. I then checked if it was in the drum and also removed the heating element to see if was there but both were empty. Where can the coin be, that's preventing the draining? Can it be in the sump hose? If it was a very small Euro cent coin could it have made it through the machine and is now stuck in the drainage hose? If so, how is it easy is it to replace the drainage hose? Thanks so much for any help and ideas!
Hi Dano, an object can be stuck inside the sump hose so check it first, it could also be the pump that's causing the noise and needs replacing so check the pump impeller.
Thanks for this video, and the others too -- so helpful! I have 2 issues I wanted to see if you could help with. I have a Zanussi ZWD1262W washer/dryer. 1) I was manually emptying the emergency drain hose (on the front-lower-right of the machine), I accidentally pulled too hard on the little hose and it got completely disconnected. How do I reconnect it? 2) My dryer will show 60minutes of time, but then it will tick down to 0 in a fraction of that amount (20, 30, 40 minutes). It gives me the normal click-click-click to tell me it's done, but it has stopped early. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!
Hi Avi, to reconnect the hose you need to access the pump so watch this video: ruclips.net/video/B73U3N8tSP8/видео.html and release the pump assembly from the front to attach the hose. The time issue may be due to the programme adjusting to the water temperature as it may not have to heat for long with warmer water if set to a low temperature wash cycle.
Right, ive had a look under the machine for the float switch and not sure wot im looking for really? U say mis-adjusted? What do u mean as I have not touched anything apart from the pump and a couple of pipes to clean them out. I appreciate your busy too!!!
Click on the following leak to see a float switch on a dishwasher (will be very similar if your machine has one) : ruclips.net/video/7b1-M_WKYJs/видео.htmlm14s If you do not have this and your pump is running and the water is not just running away due to a incorrectly set drain hose (the end pushed below the water level) And the water stops flowing if you switch of at the wall. Then the control board must be emptying the machine. It could also be the pressure switch as if this sticks on 'overfilled' then the machine again will drain.
Ok cheers ill have a look. I dont think it does have a float switch. The drain hose is set correctly and has not been adjusted in the 5 years weve had it! I did try and check the pressure switch. I blew into the hose which goes back to the drum and could hear bubbling. I also blew into the pressure switch but could not hear a clicking which I believe I am supposed too? I tried a continuity test on it but nothing happened (no bleep). So it could be yhe pressure switch then?
Be careful as you may have a 'linear pressure switch' these are electronic and can be damaged by blowing into them and do not click as the pressure increases.
Ah, ok. I think ill order one from yourselves and try that as my next step! Thankyou soooo much for ur help and advice. Ill let u know how I go. Thank you...
eSpares Hiya, me again! Right ive put the new pressure switch on but it has made no difference at all? Dont know what else to do? If I keep buying parts at this rate...Also if I call somebody out its gonna be extortionate...or do I just bite the bullet, admit defeat and buy a new machine? Choices, choices lol...
Hi, Great videos however i have a machine that drains, but the clothes still come out very wet, i checked all the things you sugested. What else should i check? Thanks Rich
Hi Richard, If your machine is draining the problem is likely to be not spinning. This could be due to out of balance (see ruclips.net/video/uKBy-9NEF5A/видео.html ) or worn brushes which will cause the motor to splutter when turning (see ruclips.net/video/MNInJd7js5A/видео.html ).
Glad we helped. Worth mentioning to always check pockets for coins and other debris as a coin can punch a hole through the tub flooding the home and causing extensive damage to the machine. Damage from a coin is not covered by any manufacturers warranty so can be expensive. :-)
Nice video I am having a drainage problem also. I don't have a front filter so I suppose ill have to take the pump out to check it. The pump does make a straining noise but wont empty I then have to place the drain house on the floor to drain the machine. Seeing that it drains using the drain house on the floor can I assume that the hoses are free of debris? My next test would be taking the entire pump out and checking to see if there is debris caught in there. I have a Haier HWMP 65-918 model that's lasted about a year. Any suggestions would be appreciated, also what is the best sealant to use as my parts are all sealed. Cheers
Hi Justice, we have not been able to find an exploded diagram for your model but from your description of the problem it sounds like there is likely to be a foreign object stuck in the pump preventing it from spinning. You should not need any sealant when reassembling as the hoses will seal when tightened by the clips, just make sure the 'O' ring seal on the pump motor is clean and in position around the rim.
Awesome I wasn't to sure about the sealant because it does seem like it has some type of sealant. And I didn't want to strip it in case I made it worse without the sealant lol. Anyway thank you very much I'll give it a go tonight or tomorrow and let you know. Cheers
Brilliant. Excellent presentation. So easy to follow. Presentation of all the possibilities for problems and repairs was above and beyond what I've seen elsewhere. A+++++++. Thank you so much!
Thanks for the video. Now before I try draining any suggestions on how can i avoid water everywhere? I have a samsung wf203ans, no filter or hose in the front. the drain pump in this is at the back and sits at the bottom. Impossible to put a bucket under. Thanks in advance!
There are a number of techniques to help drain a machine. 1: look for a small hose next to the filter on some machines as this can slowly allow the water out into a bowl. 2: lower the drain hose at the back to a bowl and allow the water to run out. 3: unplug and lean the machine back to a wall or support the front to allow the water to go below the door rim and open the door. then bail out the water using a plastic beaker and sponge. 4: lean the machine and push a 'baking tray' under the filter then open and close the filter to control the water into the tray as you slowly empty the water. Top Tip: have a few old towels for spills as you may need them!. Good luck. 😊
My Samsung front load washer only has a "Rinse and Spin" cycle....so I need to have water in the machine to go thru this test. can you recommend a multimeter for us homeowners? Thkx...great video
great video.......love how easy it was to take apart after seeing your video.....pulled the pump, and found the impeller would spin by hand...not exactly free wheeling, but more like it was rubber band bound.....put it on the bench and applied 120 volts and it appeared to run fine....not sure if speed was proper, but it ran.......and this was the case with both motors in the pump assembly........should the motors be absolutely free wheeling, or is the motor supposed to act like it has rubber bands around it......thanks in advance for your help with this matter.....
I thought that when I saw the labels L and N for line and neutral.....reversing the hook up will just cause the motor to spend in the opposite direction.....I cleaned all the hoses, even used my compressor to blow out the drain hose when I saw there was a 180 degree turn in it. the washer rand fine with no clothes in it, and failed to drain when a small load of clothes was put in it......so I think the motor is on it's way out.....so I ordered a new motor.......thanks again for the great video, it really made the job a whole lot easier....enjoyable, in fact......
Hi William, the motor can run in either direction without reversing the connections and will drain. This is because it is an AC motor not a DC motor. If it gets jammed by a small piece of grit it will often stop then run in the other direction to try and flick the grit out.
I've replaced the washer purge motor twice. btw the purge motor is faulty because if you leave the purge tube at full length and down into the wall drain it will cause it to back flow towards the lowest point which is the base of the washer thus leaving the pump face submerged in water. This leads to the pump leaking into to magnets inside the pump. It corrodes and the magnets crack and the polarity is compromised. The manual says to have the tube cut or at the right length just below the opening of the wall drain opening. They don't say it will f up your poorly made motor seal. Why would they?
+penelope pittstopp You are very welcome. May we recommend a couple of other videos that should help your washing machine to last longer: ruclips.net/video/uKBy-9NEF5A/видео.html and ruclips.net/video/ifWK9df1qgg/видео.html
Great video, My question is about my LG front load washer. Sometimes it drains and sometimes it does not completely. I changed out the pump and checked the hose and found no issues. My next step is to pull the drain hose out of the drain and see if that is the issue. The machine is 6 yrs old with lots of use. could this be a circuit board issue?
Hi Rich, as this video says there can be many reasons but it is rarely an intermittent board problem. You can save a lot of time and money by watching over your machine to monitor its draining. Simply put on a rinse cycle and time how long it takes to empty when the pump starts. This will normally be 30 to 45 seconds but if significantly longer you have a blockage or partial restriction.
have a like. had no idea the drain pump had its own filter. mine was so nasty. even the lint trap in the washing machine was nasty. i just cleaned out both and am running a load. hopefully this solves my slow drain problem! -edit- holy crap! the drain pressure increased like 3 fold! so much water comes out now and it doesnt take ~2-3 minutes for the drain to get going, it starts pretty much immediately.
Thank you for the video, however after performing all these steps I am still getting the OE error on my washer and water will not drain (even replaced the pump) Still hear the loud noise when it attempts to drain. Could it possibly be the circulation pump or am I looking at the module or the PCB?
Hi Jewelee, The fact you say you can hear the "loud noise" suggests this is the pump running and trying to empty the machine. Have you offered the drain hose to a bucket to see if it will pump out?. It may be a blockage of your plumbing if it connects directly to the pipework under the sink. It should also drain reasonably quickly if the hose is lowered to the floor into a bowl.
Hi Thanks for the informative video! in my machine i have two errors "water tap closed" and "clean pump". Could you please let me know what else i need to check? Thanks
+samira ghaemi For the water tap closed problem see another video: ruclips.net/video/VS48G_cwCXo/видео.html Follow this video and confirm the machine empties in around 45 seconds.
Thanks for this video! I've been searching for how to solve our problem, and unfortunately, nothing is blocking any of the hoses. We bought a new pump as we figured the old one just burned out... but it still will not work. In fact, there is only 10-15V getting to the pump where 120V should be. Now that we know that, how do we go about figuring out which wires we need to fix/replace? They all look fine and are attached securely. model # bfw36w/xac (Samsung/Brada front load)
Any tips on making a correctly functioning pump quieter? Could dropping the voltage to the motor by splicing in a resistor that would allow the pump to move enough water that it would not throw OE errors but still be quieter work? What about a different impeller? Or covering the pump unit in sound insulation? I don't mind doing this at my own risk and voiding the warranty.
We would not recommend attempting to reduce the power to the pump. Perhaps the noise may be reduced by using a 'softer' mount to the case, you could try lifting off the mounting first then experiment with this.
thank you for great tutorial. I made a huge mistake buying the sanuzzi brand washing machine and just after 12 months use (only myself in the house) the heater element went and it kept on tripping the fuse so I changed that. then the motor belt snapped so I changed that. now I am into the 15 months purchase of this piece of rubbish and the draining pump must have gone. I have a good idea come tomorrow I will scrap this piece of junk and NO MORE SANUZZI of any kind then I will buy another brand washing machine and hopefully it will last longer.
Sounds like you have been unlucky but this latest problem could have accidentally been caused by you. If any items are left in pockets in clothes when washed these often cause the pump to jam. Check the filter for debris, once removed the machine should work. This problem can occur even on a machines first wash so check this before scrapping the machine.
My machine has same problem. Today is first use of it. I followed same procedure mentioned in video and some little amount of water came out of it. But how much amount of water normally drains out in fully automatic front load machine?
All of it lol. Sorry it is important to try and drain the machine before opening the filter as this is at the bottom of the machine and you could end up with two gallons (9 litres) over your floor. If you accidentally left a matchstick. hair grip or coin in a pocket in the washing it could jam the pump on the very first use of the machine. if this happens it is not the machines fault so remember to check the washing before loading the machine.
Hi Doowacki. Carrying out a pump repair should not have upset the control board but if your machine has an analogue pressure switch this may need resetting depending on make and model number. To do this restart the machine on a drain cycle when it has been filled with a couple of litres of water in the drum. The machine should drain and reset. If you still have problems see our video: How to diagnose washing machine control and program problems
great video, thanks for sharing. I've a Zanussi ZWF14070W1 washing machine, that stopped draining mid cycle. I checked the filter (it was clean), I've replaced the drain pump, but still won't work. It's flashing 2 red 1 green light. Any ideas?
Hi Kim, To identify your error flashing check out our video: ruclips.net/video/ERJNwmGQW4w/видео.html If the error is only identifying it has not drained then put on a rinse cycle and see if the machine 'tries' to empty. Then by following the information in this video you should be able to identify blockages or component failure.
Thanks I'd already watched the video, hence the drainage diagnosis. I've reset the machine after replacing drain pump (holding down 2 buttons, turning dial to off, then to 1st position until light sequence etc), but unfortunately machine still does nothing. There is power to it, but when you select any programme, then press start, it flashes green once, then does nothing. When you press start again, it flashes red twice, then one green. HELP!!!! please :-)
Kim Galway Some machines will do a 'self test' before starting a cycle. This may check the heater motor and pump for continuity and if the pump had 'burnt out' it may have damaged the control board. Recheck connectors and pump continuity, if you cannot identify any other faults it may be a damaged pcb but this may not be able to prove without replacing it.
Thanks for the video. Very helpful after I had tried everything else in the troubleshooting manual. Problem: two 50 cent coins. (Australian). Quicker and cheaper than getting a repairman.
+Mr Fix it Lucky escape you had as that could have cost a lot more then 100 cents if the coins had damaged the drum. Good time to 'train' all users of the machine on the importance of emptying pockets before loading the machine. :-)
Great video. However, my problem is bra wire got caught and has fallen inside the drum. A couple of days later I went back to the machine and there is an amount of stagnant water in the drum. Please can you advise?
Hi Elisabeth, often bra wires can get broken up and will end up in the pump filter stopping the machine from draining. Empty the water and check the filter and watch this video: ruclips.net/video/frEJhX9Sppw/видео.html
+Uways Al Anshor You are very welcome, we have made Diagnosis videos for washers, dryers dishwashers, cookers and pressure washers so if you have a problem be sure to check them out.
Great instruction. I have a LG F1022ND washing machine. The water remain inside washing. The drain pump, Hanning DP025-208, under 220V runs some seconds clockwise and some other seconds counterclockwise, changing continuously the direction. What do you think? It is normal? Thanks.
Hi tawhare wharepapa, don,t feel bad just tell others as we are sure to be able to help some one get the part that they require so spread the word. :-)
Thanks for the comments Allen, we have lots more videos showing diagnosing and repairing all sorts of home appliances.
Thanks! Thought our machine was knackered then watched this, unscrewed the filter and found a bloody sock!! Keep up the good work
Hi Omar, glad you fixed it yourself well done and remember to like the video.
will do. just after i removed the sock from the filter i ran a quick wash on empty and got a totally new error E10 - never had this one before. Any ideas? the water hose filters are clean and there aren't any kinks in any of the pipes
Hi Omar, can you supply your model details so we can check as it may be different depending on the brand of machine.
eSpares hi the model number is K714WM16 it’s a Kenwood machine. Thanks, any help would be greatly appreciated!
Result Casey. 😊
Reply to Tommy Redzinski:
Hi Tommy, glad to hear you resolved your problem with our help.
Simply by rinsing under the tap you will see an instant increase it the quality of cleaning and avoid this problem.
eSpares Thank you so much for all your videos they are very helpful. You have yourselves a life time customer ;)

Thanks to your video we have fixed our washing machine. Thanks for the help. My husband would have just bought a new washing machine!
Thanks Leonie for the comments, remember to 'like’ the video if you enjoyed it or it helped.👍
Hello, Just wanted to say thank you for the advise, the front filter was empty, so we tipped the machine over and just as you said there was a sock in the rubber pump , the machine is working perfectly and i didn't need to call some one out . thanks again
+dena2349 Great news, may we recommend a couple ofother videos that should help your washing machine to last longer:ruclips.net/video/uKBy-9NEF5A/видео.html and ruclips.net/video/ifWK9df1qgg/видео.html
thanks for the reply, one quick question, my washing machine seems to rattle more since i emptied the pump any ideas why?
kcatv pump impeller ; )
Clear and helpful video, thanks Josh. Problem turned out to be an 18 month old who likes to hide things in the wash basket, a few of them found their way into the filter, drainage pipe and the pump. I'm amazed the thing ever worked! Anyway, after a good clear out its running perfectly. No spares needed this time but if I ever need them in future, I know where to come. Thanks again, saved me a bundle ;)
Thanks for the comments Stu, remember to 'like’ the video if you enjoyed it or it helped.👍
Well Thankyou eSpares for your help, advice and support. We have ordered a New washing machine as the repair costs on our old W/M was more than the machine was worth! It was narrowed down to the PCB...Again Thanks!
So it is really possible that drain problem is caused by the PCB malfunctioning?
Followed your step by step guide...found the blockage (a small plastic counter) in the waste-pipe under the sink and fixed it! Thanks!!
Great video. My machine wasn't draining, the first step you suggest; clearing out the filter. It worked. Thanks for the video!
Hi Michael, good to hear this. Its nice to think that sometimes a problem can be cured just by carrying out a minor 'repair' without even needing spare parts.
Thanks! Fixed my washer because of this video.
You are welcome Bonnie, glad we helped.
Hi Josh, many thanks for your assistance in fixing the pump problem in our Bosch washing machine. Your tip to check the pump impeller for something snagged in it was well founded ,
as here in lay the problem with a few strands of hair stuck in it.
We were saved an engineer call out.
Thanks again
Conor .
Hi Conor, thanks for the comment, glad we helped.
Thanks for showing us how to simply clean this machine. I am pretty sure the problem was the filter and thanks to this video it was easy to figure out.
Hi Pieter, glad you enjoyed the video and found it useful.
On the subject of cleaning check out the following video as most people will suffer from the problems shown and not know the best way to tackle them:
ruclips.net/video/ifWK9df1qgg/видео.html :-)
Geez! Espares? I used to work for these guys back in 2005!
thank you! ! my washer is fixed i had no idea about the filter THANKS! :) you saved me a service call and money I didn't have!
+Kristina Williams Our pleasure, glad all is well now.
Thank you!
Hi ClarkLark, we have videos for replacing most types of parts including the sump hose: ruclips.net/video/Q7sdgmuxfjE/видео.html

Excellent Tutorial
Saved £' s on a call out from the plumber and up by £7.42 and €2!!
Thanks for the help.
Hi Alyce, your welcome
Brilliant, thank you. I was foxed by a drain error code but there was nothing in the filter. Turns out a 50p coin will go through the drum side gap but not from the sump pipe to the filter housing so it can get stuck and block the hole. Pulled off the sump hose and there was the culprit. I could not have done this repair without this video, and as the machine is two months out of extended warranty I was facing a big repair or replacement bill. Not only that I won the 50p back.
Thanks for the comments, remember to 'like’ the video if you enjoyed it or it helped.👍
Hi Dannyvirk, it is always surprising that it doesn't take a lot to block the impellor but well done for fixing it ☺
thank you for this videos. it helps me a lot to fix my washing machine problem. good job gentlemen.
+Saroj Yadav Thanks for the comments, hope all is well now!.
Great video. Spoke clear "English" with simple demonstrations. Going to attack mine tonight that leaves water behind but cycles correctly. The maintenance people where I live think their purpose is to do your task last and sloppy.
Thank you we do try and good luck wattsenough, let us know how you get on.
Thanks for this. Found about 4 dollars worth of coins on the pump inlet. Fitted perfectly, so no flow. Cleared out and runs fine. Thanks again
Thanks for the comments Julie. We are confident that our spares delivery and stock will impress you as much as this video. :-)
sanyo top loading washing machine clutch faulty repair
Good videos from espares but the parts are very very expensive, hense espares (expensive spares)
I used a wet vac to drain mine as it was blocked , works a treat and the washer now works perfectly
That's a good tip for any one who has a 'wet vacuum or carpet cleaner' but do remember that the machine can hold a couple of gallons (9 litres+) of water so be ready for this. :-)
Excelent explanation! With your help I've found a damned sock in the tube that connect the drum to the filter. Thank you!
+Rui Pratas Thanks for your comments, glad you are now sorted.
Heater 13.7 - 15.2 ohms
NTC 22.8 - 27.4 kilo ohms @68 degrees F.
For more useful information see these other videos:
ruclips.net/video/0AnLPqcQAmA/видео.html
Always like watching these videos from e spares ,great in detail,
Thanks Malcolm, have you seen this group of usefull information videos: ruclips.net/video/GlwJu2tJD8o/видео.html
Thanks!!!! you save me from calling a repair man, keep up the great videos.
Mark Owens Glad to hear you sorted your problem!. :-)
Wow thank you! I´ve found several toothpics and a wet wipe in the filter for the pump but I did need to put the machine on the side on the floor and loose the drain hose to get it away. But I¨m so happy it worked!
Hi Helene, thank you for your post and well done on sorting it out.
very informative . could you explain why some times water with slightly drainage smell been found inside the machine all of a sudden? Thanks
+Sibichan Ouseph Your problem may be due to water returning into the machine through the drain hose. If the hose connects directly onto pipe work under a sink make sure the pipe goes up to just under the work surface or water can run down the hose into the machine.
You saved my life!!! I was about to throw my machine away
You are a good man. Just cleaned my machines pump. God bless u man.
Thanks for the comments Ayub, remember to 'like’ the video if you enjoyed it or it helped.👍
Those little flip-out doors with the filter and small drain hose are nice. Sure wish mine had one of those.
If it wont drain to a container below the level of the water you may need to remove the sump hose and check for a missing sock or small item.
eSpares Thank you so much for your quick answer and immense help!
IF connected to a sink pipe check the hose end is not blocked.
eSpares Thank you for your valuable advices :-) I fixed it!!! End hose was blocked! Thank you soooo much!
Thank you so much for Espares and especially for this video , engineer Josh :) You saved £50 for me by explaining blockages and a big noise during the drying possess. Thank you so much indeed xx
Thanks for the comments Yassen, glad we helped.
Thank you! I found a sock in the pump hose after feeling along it. Exactly what was said in the video 👍
Hi, it's great to know our video has helped you to remove the sock that was affecting your washing machine from draining! Thanks for your comment.
Most informative sir. I like the tip it on its side rather than taking the whole thing apart.
Thanks for the comments David, remember to 'like’ the video if you enjoyed it or it helped.👍
Great video, found a sock in the sump, machine works great now, thanks very much
IRISH-SPARTAN- Glad you sorted it. :-)
I drained my washer by using a wet vac and just put it over the drain hose and covered the connection up with my hand and it work great.
+Will Randall Good tip if you have a 'wet vac' but other viewers must remember it would destroy a normal vacuum .
Saved me a call to the local repairman. Thanks!
+junglesoftwaretv Glad to hear that. :-)
Thanks, mate. I repair my washer via this video. Amazing.
Thanks A A, glad to know you sorted out the issue. Remember to like and subscribe for more helpful videos in the future.
@@eSpares I do subscribe mate. Thank you
Hi A A, thank you :)
Right, ive had a look under the machine for the float switch and not sure wot im looking for really? U say mis-adjusted? What do u mean as I have not touched anything apart from the pump and a couple of pipes to clean them out. I appreciate your busy too!!!
Click on the following leak to see a float switch on a dishwasher (will be very similar if your machine has one) : ruclips.net/video/7b1-M_WKYJs/видео.htmlm14s
If you do not have this and your pump is running and the water is not just running away due to a incorrectly set drain hose (the end pushed below the water level) And the water stops flowing if you switch of at the wall.
Thank you for diagnosing my washing machine , Russel Brand! Er... I mean, Josh.
Good video, the recirc pump was my problem, which was not mentioned in other ones.
Thanks for the comments, glad we helped.
You saved me lots of money!
i love you!
First solution was the winner, thank you for this video!
Glad we helped. Worth mentioning to always check pockets for coins and other debris as a coin can punch a hole through the tub flooding the home and causing extensive damage to the machine. Damage from a coin is not covered by any manufacturers warranty so can be expensive. :-)
+eSpares will definitely do that! You are my Washing machine guru!
If you get a moment this is another useful video:
ruclips.net/video/0AnLPqcQAmA/видео.html
You're welcome, we're glad this video helped you. Don't forget to "like" if you enjoyed it :)
Hi Michael, we do a range of meters so please have a look www.espares.co.uk/search?SearchTerm=multimeter
great video.......love how easy it was to take apart after seeing your video.....pulled the pump, and found the impeller would spin by hand...not exactly free wheeling, but more like it was rubber band bound.....put it on the bench and applied 120 volts and it appeared to run fine....not sure if speed was proper, but it ran.......and this was the case with both motors in the pump assembly........should the motors be absolutely free wheeling, or is the motor supposed to act like it has rubber bands around it......thanks in advance for your help with this matter.....
Hi William, the impeller does not move freely as it is a permanent magnet motor so pulls to the poles.
If it gets jammed by a small piece of grit it will often stop then run in the other direction to try and flick the grit out.
thank you very much, by listening to your video l was able to remove the dirty that block the draining system.
Hi. Great stuff. I would like to know if it is possible to reprogram the Cotton program so that it washes in different cycles the way I want it to
On what machine?.
Thanks Josh sorted out the filter and machine working well. Thanks mate x
Thanks for the comments Steve.
Why would they?
glad I came across this, thank you for helping me resolve my washing machine problem.
+penelope pittstopp You are very welcome. May we recommend a couple of other videos that should help your washing machine to last longer: ruclips.net/video/uKBy-9NEF5A/видео.html and ruclips.net/video/ifWK9df1qgg/видео.html
thanku :-)
-edit-
holy crap! the drain pressure increased like 3 fold! so much water comes out now and it doesnt take ~2-3 minutes for the drain to get going, it starts pretty much immediately.
+Epic Cat Battles Well done, nice easy fix there!. :-)
Does the weather have anything to do with the water pump messing up?
Epic Cat Battles ziggyy
Really good video. Thanks for making. Solved my problem and saved me a fortune.

Hi Thanks for the informative video! in my machine i have two errors "water tap closed" and "clean pump". Could you please let me know what else i need to check?
Thanks
+samira ghaemi For the water tap closed problem see another video:

Great tutorial ,great explaining skills .
Hi veve ve, thank you for your post and glad we could help.
Nice video. However it would be nice to have you pointed out the recirculating pump, since you mentioned it.
Hi Keith, the pumps use exactly the same motor as shown at 2:30. You can see them both in the bottom right of the machine at 2:36.
Thank you sir. You just saved me a couple hundred dollars!!!
+Brian Rojas Excellent Brian. :-)
+Sab I Am Unless there is signs of damage to the loom (rubbing) it is almost certain to be the control board not the wiring at fault.
yeah, we figured that out when a buddy came down to look at it. :(
Thanks so much for your reply!
+Sab I Am You are welcome.
Thanks, a clear no nonsense video.
This problem can occur even on a machines first wash so check this before scrapping the machine.
eSpares thanks for the reply, I had already checked the filter and was clear. it's gone to scrap yard now. thanks again
Sorry we were not quick enough to help. Maybe next time. 😊
Very helpful video. Saved me time and money. Thanks a ton!!!
Thanks for the comments Pragash, that's what we like to hear. :-)
Exactly the video I was looking for thanks
My machine has same problem. Today is first use of it. I followed same procedure mentioned in video and some little amount of water came out of it. But how much amount of water normally drains out in fully automatic front load machine?
All of it lol. Sorry it is important to try and drain the machine before opening the filter as this is at the bottom of the machine and you could end up with two gallons (9 litres) over your floor.
If you accidentally left a matchstick. hair grip or coin in a pocket in the washing it could jam the pump on the very first use of the machine. if this happens it is not the machines fault so remember to check the washing before loading the machine.
Great video David, l followed everything, pump works but now the controls/fuzzy logic has gone haywire? is there an electrical reset function?
Hi Doowacki. Carrying out a pump repair should not have upset the control board but if your machine has an analogue pressure switch this may need resetting depending on make and model number. To do this restart the machine on a drain cycle when it has been filled with a couple of litres of water in the drum. The machine should drain and reset. If you still have problems see our video:
How to diagnose washing machine control and program problems
great video, thanks for sharing. I've a Zanussi ZWF14070W1 washing machine, that stopped draining mid cycle. I checked the filter (it was clean), I've replaced the drain pump, but still won't work. It's flashing 2 red 1 green light. Any ideas?
Hi Kim, To identify your error flashing check out our video:
ruclips.net/video/ERJNwmGQW4w/видео.html
If the error is only identifying it has not drained then put on a rinse cycle and see if the machine 'tries' to empty.
Hi Great video saved me 120.00... Thanks for posting stuff like this up on you tube it helps alot :)
Mckylie Campbell Thanks for your comments, glad all went well. :-)
eSpares hi
Thanks for the video. Very helpful after I had tried everything else in the troubleshooting manual. Problem: two 50 cent coins. (Australian). Quicker and cheaper than getting a repairman.
+Mr Fix it Lucky escape you had as that could have cost a lot more then 100 cents if the coins had damaged the drum. Good time to 'train' all users of the machine on the importance of emptying pockets before loading the machine. :-)
Very helpful, an excellent video. Thank you
Thanks Geoff, we hope it helped identify your problem.
Thanks, I managed to fixed mine after watching your video.
+hamid khan Glad to hear we helped. :-)
Thank's for your kind to show this video, it's very assist me to do own service.

+Uways Al Anshor Glad we helped.:-)
Great instruction. I have a LG F1022ND washing machine. The water remain inside washing. The drain pump, Hanning DP025-208, under 220V runs some seconds clockwise and some other seconds counterclockwise, changing continuously the direction. What do you think? It is normal? Thanks.
It suggests the pump may be faulty as although it can empty in either direction it should not change direction unless the pump 'pauses' for a second.
thanks you just saved me £300 on a new 1 though mine had it working like new now
LFC Tommo Thanks for your post and comments. :-)
Awesome advice, awesome video and helped me fix our problem I feel bad using your trade expertise for free......cheers!
