      First class? I watched it and i didnt think it was that good. It is better than days of future past, but i think days of future past made first class better than it was. Its ur opinion, but i just want to maybe put a thought in ur head. Cause first class would of had no impact. To me it was a long story as to how professor x got crippled. But the movies after really fleshed out everything that was introduced in first class. Still a good movie, just that the whole movie was a training arc for upcoming movies

      (Sorry, english its not my first languaje)
      But is it really a sequel to DOFP?
      I've a heard theories that claims Logan doesnt belong to the "new" timeline, its just an alternate reality of how things could have ended.
      Even the directors (or Hugh Jackman itself, in a interview a I think?) claimed that the film Logan took place in another timeline.
      However, I'm with you: the ending of Logan was a depressing. I prefer the one of DOFP because its like a relief in Logan's life after everyting he has lost and suffered.

  • @delecti

    I think your summary nailed it. Initially the X-Men movies raised the bar, then other movies raised the bar, and X-Men was left behind. It's "Seinfeld isn't funny" syndrome. They were good for their time (well, some of them), the genre just evolved.

      @@nachfuden9809 Yeah, except Fox never fully committed when they "pressed the reset button." That wasn't a reboot, it was a prequel, which did more to muddy the timeline than fix any of the other problems plaguing the FoX-Men movies.

    • @trustinfaith9778
      @trustinfaith9778 5 лет назад

      @@Thrashman138 Nope. It was a reboot. The producers said so themselves. And they did press the reset button. Before, the movies were a series of gritty sociopolitical thrillers. Nowadays they're superhero movies each with different themes and tones (for example, First Class was a glamorous spy thriller, The Wolverine was a noir movie, Days of Future Past was a time travel adventure, Deadpool was a comedy, Apocalypse was an action movie and Logan was a neo-western). And the timeline isn't that difficult to understand once you understand that the events of X-Men to X-Men Origins were erased.

    • @Thrashman138
      @Thrashman138 5 лет назад +1

      @@trustinfaith9778 You can call it a reboot all you want, but that doesn't change the fact they kept a lot of story points, character arcs, timelines and even actors in place. You can call a screwdriver a shovel, but it's still a screwdriver. FC wasn't a reboot, it was a prequel. And a sloppy one at that.

  • @pmmcrobb
    @pmmcrobb 5 лет назад +1

    First problem I have with this movie is aside from Apocalypse, we really haven’t seen much of this younger group. Jean was in Days of Future Past a little and then was in Apocalypse. So I really don’t care much about her becoming Dark Phoenix. The original movies featured Jean in the first two movies, then killed her, so then her becoming evil in Last Stand at least meant something.
    Another reason is because Disney bought Fox. We know that the X-Men are going to be brought into the MCU, and based on the MCU track record the movie will likely be great. But we know this movie won’t be part of the MCU. So we just want to get this movie out of the way to get to the MCU.

    There is an article about filmmakers that were blacklisted. Brian Singer was on the list. I felt the former x men 1and 2 director was misunderstood. Bohemian Rhapsody was ruined by 20th Century Fox. To matters worse, 20th Century Fox did this to screw over Brian Singer and the rest of cast and crew in order for a new director to over from Singer. Brett Ratner on the hand, was blacklisted after accusations by many females. Brett Ratner's production studio quietly left from Brett Ratner after more accusations occurred in 2018. The latter director, he deserved to be on the blacklisted names. I won't forgive Brett Ratner after what he especially did to Elliot Page in 2006.

  • @Vanamonde
    @Vanamonde 5 лет назад +2

    The 1st 2 Xmen movies were great. Days of Future Past was interesting. I could easily forget the rest.
    It's the comment you made about it being an ensemble piece that only focuses on the same 5 characters every time. Professor X and Magneto. Wolverine. Cyclops. Jean Grey. Maybe Beast and Storm. And they desperately avoid the comic book costumes which always ticks me off. Im tired of Superhero movies and TV shows that are too pretentious to let the characters dress like they do in their source material or even use their nicknames. Luke Cage, Daredevil, and Iron Fist were all pretty good for the most part but it felt like theynwere always building to bringing it to the comic roots without ever doing so.

    I don't see how any of the MCU films are remotely better than the likes of "Logan" or "X-Men: Days of Future Past" in terms of quality storytelling since I often feel like the attempts at crowd pleasing a lot of the time hinders storytelling potential for a lot of their films from being close to "Logan" or "The Dark Knight" in terms of what is considered to be "great cinema" with a couple of exceptions here and there. It doesn't a lot of them back films per say, just films that are servicable with a very "flash in the pan" or "been there, done that" like feel. Same with "X-Men: Days of Future Past" in terms of its ambition and risks to a degree.
    For example, I hear both "Logan" and "Black Panther" get labelled as "the next Dark Knight" label that critics and fans online. "Logan" is a film that actually takes risks and develops its themes in a subversive way despite never really treating itself or by others as some self-important film, "Black Panther" is treated like some important film and even acts kind of important with the topic it tries to tackle, but plays itself way too safe since it feels the need to follow the MCU checklist with a lot of topics merely being lip-service to what is a pretty standard MCU film with African window dressing.
    Hell if anything "Black Panther" should have at least took notes from the likes of "Iron Man 3" or "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" in terms of handling its politics. At least those films did take some risks in terms of the MCU formula in order to benefits its political themes whether it is risks of expectations with "Iron Man 3" or risks in the grand status quo in "The Winter Soldier", "Black Panther" kind of feels a bit too safe for me.

    • @TheFLAMEXD
      @TheFLAMEXD 5 лет назад

      I There’s no proper world building or character development on the X-Men movies. They haven’t earned any great moments.
      The MCU started out pretty small with Iron Man, gradually building towards a greater universe film by film. Characters go through better changes than any of the characters in the X-Men Fox universe and each movie has the hero not only struggle against a villain, but their own inner demons. I’m not gonna go so far and say that the MCU movies are these “deep” and “thought-provoking”, but they don’t really need to be. They still tell compelling stories with great characters that other movies do.

    • @TheFLAMEXD
      @TheFLAMEXD 5 лет назад

      I I have seen the X-Men films and there’s very little character growth in all of them.
      Logan and Charles are the only ones with significant arcs, while the rest are relegated to supporting roles. Magneto keeps changing from villain to hero so many times that it’s become annoying.
      In the MCU, every hero has their own arc and goes through tremendous development while still keeping SOME familiar traits.

    Logan is my favorite out of the bunch but overall I would say no......I do think some of the films had some really good qualities about them but they also missed on alot of the aspects that make xmen the xmen namely....the team focus and true interpersonal relationships outside of professor x and magneto and a few others.....the sci fi element are also way underplayed........I do prefer the use of humor in the fox movies over the mcu which I think tends to overdo it with jokes at times almost like there scared to let the audience go to long feeling other emotions without inserting a joke to cut the tension or drama.....I suspect when the mcu movies start while I will like many things about them there might be some aspects that fox is better at.....a shared universe has its strengths and weaknesses imo.

    Aside from Logan, each of these movies are deeply flawed, but most have some iconic scenes. Logan's bar scene in X-Men, Stryker hinting at Logan's past in X2 was great, and Professor X shown as being flawed in X3 are a few examples. I hope MCU reboots these, but I don't know how they will ever live up to the casting of the original series.

    If nostalgia is the only thing telling convincing you to stay or that something is good, then no amount of searching for the bright side can help. I learned that from Naruto. If you have to force yourself to watch it, or argue why it's not bad, then it's probably bad. It took me watching Apocalypse 3 times to realize how bad it actually was. I don't even try anymore. I'm still surprised that Dark Phoenix will actually meet its release date. The only reason I even think about X-Men anymore is because of Deadpool, Logan, and New Mutants.
    The X-Men franchise is dead. But it's evolving into the X-Force. And now we may get the Avengers vs X-Men we may not have expected. The death of James Howlett (lol) signified the death of the X-Men franchise we're used to. But it will be revived by Deadpool and Cable and I am here for that!

    I have never seen any comic book movie that I would consider to be good.

    you should checkout the show Doom Patrol from DC.. I think it's really good and original but also weird.. they're like X-Men but with disabilities, and according to comic book history they existed before the X-Men comic. usually rather a Marvel fan, but this one is an exception!

    xmen movies were great the actors choices only problem was one character focus jubilee aka rogue who was awful lol.
    x3 the scene where professor dies was purely epic.
    I'll miss the xmen the storylines were just adult, the Disney universe is just child like in comparison. the only problem with xmen was they went cheaper on the fx. the deadpool series was the only one that took the fx focus and added the adult story. the director of the first deadpool should have been given the reins of the mainline story. seriously does anyone think Disney could have made a deadpool, it was hard for fox but they were edgy and deadpool is kinda fox' established style already.
    best example of character differences is quicksilver fox casted better and made the character deeper more realistic and fun. Disney used alot of fx but the character is just basic run of the mill power rangers esq depth. the true only savior of the universe was RDJ he added the depth and brought the style to the whole mcu. starlord and most of the movies popular characters use part of RDJ stark persona to get by.
    lastly look at spiderman Disney casted perfectly, but took all of the depth out of the story spiderman has literally no reason to be spiderman or no depth at all his life is the life of angel grove power rangers. the comic book effects get thing by but no depth no seriousness at all. same goes for starwars they killed all the interesting parts by offering a mass excepted vanilla mash of a story.
