I just want to testify that this method is BOMB! I am transitioning from heat damage right now and I desperately needed a method for trimming my ends consistently so my curls can thrive. I did this for the first time last night and as she said it did take quite a while, but as I was cutting off the heat damage my curls were thanking me. I'll be using this method until all the heat damage is gone! Thank you sooooo much
Don't know what id do without you Whitney, I went to the shop to get my hair cornrowed for the first time since natural (4 yrs) and she pointed out that I had to dust my ends because it was snapping all over the place. I didn't know what she was talking about because this is the first year dusting for me is necessary because this was the first year I experienced snapping do to my length progress. So I said when I take down the cornrows she installed I would dust my ends, so I came home looked up your channel and there it was "a tutorial for dusting". Now when I take down these cornrows I will saturate my hair with conditioner, detangle and dust my ends. Your the best, thanks. I believe I wouldn't be approaching navel length without your tutorials.
You set such a good example for new naturals like me or people who would rather do their hair themselves but don't know how. Also, your hair is so beautiful! You're like a real life Rapunzel!!
Great tutorial: I tried it last night on my hair, 2 years post big chop (I actually shaved it skin bald!!! And now it's above bra-length). I actually coated my dry hair into 12 sections, with Cantu's Shea butter Grow Strong Strengthening Treatment! I had washed it the day before and had sealed my hair afterwards with Nutiva's Coconut oil and some Haitian Castor oil. I love your vids! Keep them coming :) God bless!
And yet another one of ur routines that I follow lol :-) I just got done prepping my hair & putting my plastic caps & satin bonnet on before bed. I'm a little nervous to trim it in the morning, but I know if I follow ur instructions, I'll be fine. I'm excited & anxious at the same time!! You've been such a lifesaver!! ♥♥
I actually haven't cut my hair in about two years and before that I'd always trim/cut around every 6 months. I'll give you my opinion. I have seen a ton of growth since not cutting BUT also my hair does have some breakage. A way that I have been working through that is by utilizing repair treatments and deep conditioning more regularly. I guess that's my really great way to have a happy medium without being scared of losing my length. If that doesn't work for you and you see damaged hair still then it would probably be best to go back and try a small trim.
Thank you so much for your helpful tutorials. I have been natural for years now, but never took the time to learn how to take care of my hair. After watching several of your tutorials, I take time with my hair and I actually feel confident that I know what I am doing. I trimmed my ends, made some whipped shea butter, creamy shea butter and flax seed gel, all thanks to you. And, I have successful completed the bantu knot out on my hair. Amazing! Thank you!
Cant wait to cut the rest my relaxer and hoping some days ill be just trimming my natural hair. Since i started to transition, you're one out of 4 ppl on youtube that inspired me to keep on taking care of my hair. I'm reaching one year transitionning soon. I was looking at your first vid after your bc and this one.........ur an amazing...ur healthy hair is just growing none stop. Thanks a lot for your videos and advices.
you are the only guru that i can find on youtube that is close to my hair type! im still at the twa stage but watching your videos inspire me to keep going, and hopefully i can get my hair as gorgeous as yours!
I never knew how to trim my hair. I'm new to the whole natural hair thing. I've been watching a lot of videos for the past few months. Out of all the videos I've watched, you're the only person who made trimming hair look easy. Thanks so much. Once I take my braids out I'll make sure to give my hair a trim. :D
Hello Naptural85, I'm a 20 French girl, so sorry for my English... Just wanted to say thank you ! I've been natural for years now, but but I never really be able to take good care of my hair. They never really grow up long, and I never been very happy of the way they look. You gave me motivation and confidence : now I know that I can make it, and that this is not so complicated. So thank you for all !
I really like your videos. You make taking care of natural hair look so easy. Well I'm going to attempt to trim my ends for the first time tomorrow. Wish me luck.
I have been wanting a trim for the last few months and have been too nervous to let anyone do it for me, especially since I've gone natural. Thanks for this! Such a huge help!
Thank you for sharing this video. One of my big reasons for going natural is to avoid the salon. My life is busy and I live in an area where there aren't many salons that work with natural hair, so making an appointment for a trim is tricky. I'm excited to try this out. Looks pretty moisturizing, too.
Just wanted to say thank you! I've been using your whipped shea butter recipe and it has changed my life! my hair loves the stuff and I go through jars of it like crazy without feeling bad about what goes into my hair. and when i run out all i have to do is buy some raw shea butter for a few bucks and whip up another batch...THANK YOU
Hey Naptural, you've made me trim my hair. My hair is not as long as yours but I had a pretty good length. I trimmed more than I expected but got rid of all damaged hair. Better get short but healthy hair than long and damaged. Thanks for your smart tutorials and tips. Lily from France.
I LOVE YOU!!! YOU JUST SAVED MY LIFE...and my mom's money. I'm gonna do this! It's SO awesome you only trim it once every YEAR. Salons usually tell you to trim every six WEEKS! Ah!! I can't wait to try this.
you are my number one hairspiration on here, honest. Love you, your family and your hair! I enjoy all your videos and stay motivated and im not tempted to use heat at alll even tho i might from time to time. I am currently a freshman in high school and im almost 13 months natural. Cant wait to get here! xoxo
Omg I love you! I love your channels and I love the fact that you respond to people! That I really love a lot of utubers don't they act like they don't have time. But you have so much going on in your life and you still respond back! And I appreciate that. The tutorial helped a lot of ppl straighten their hair to trim and this was a much needed video. Ur awesome :) thank you for taking the time out to help and give info
What interesting timing! i recently bought a Denman brush and tried trimming my hair myself. I wasn't brave enough to do my whole head, though. i really like watching you videos. My mother and both my sisters are also natural. We follow your tutorials. Cocoon curls and Bantu knots are tops!
So I tried your lovely French twisting method and it came out excellent... My hair stays moisturized longer and the curls look more natural because they start from the root... NOT the twist thank you so much and congratz on everything!!!
I've been subscribed to you for a while and with each video you post, I'm always amazed and inspired by your growth! Hopefully when I'm done transitioning, my own hair will undergo a good period of growth. I'll definitely have to revisit your vids when I'm fully natural.
No,i was answering a question someone else asked about how to trim really short hair. I asked how she knew it needed to be trimmed if it was really short. There really isn't a great need to trim hair unless you Know you need to.
This is just the type of video I needed to look for when attempting to learn how to trim natural hair! I have been growing mine for roughly 8 yrs and the main thing about me and hair care is that I'm lazy and I don't like going to a salon to pay $60 to get a simple thing done. So to redeem myself, I'm going to try to do some major stuff on my own, which should be fun cause my mom can't wait to teach me the ropes on how to trim hair! Hard work at first but I can't wait. Great vid!
Hey Naptural!! You should do a hair journey video. I was just looking at your 1st videos when your hair was hort and boy have you come a long way. Literally a LONGGGGG WAYY. lol You are one of my natural hair inspirations. Take care!
you are an inspiration. i love your videos so simple to follow and to be a wife and new mother it's so good to see how dedicated you are to educating other women on natural haircare
Wow thanks for the tips Whitney. I've always blown dry my hair straight to clip my ends. Will definitely try this the next time a co-wash. You're the best, as usual. Stay blessed!
i looooooooooooooooooove your hair! u make natural hair care look so simple and effortless like its supposed to be! you have an amazing spirit and personality! thank you for letting us into your world :)
iEnvy your patience.Sometimes hen iTwist and detangle my hair, it takes so long that iGet discouraged and stop and just wrap it up in a scarf for a week. you inspire me to be more patient and determined. :)
Please, please, please do a length check, pretty please with sprinkles on top!!! I'd love to see where your hair reaches! Your hair has grown so much! Plus, I'd love to see what shoulder-length natural hair looks like & where it reaches without the shrinkage!
i really love watching your videos I was skeptical about going to a hair salon n getting it cut. I like to do my own hair because nobody can do it like you do. (yup im one of those). but lately I have gotten really lazy and my last hair style I did I seen a lot of flurries on my shirt I got real scared n almost cried (literally) lol but I am a firm believer of trimming your ends it really helps your hair grow. starting today i'm sooooo doing this. thank you sooooo much.
Oh my god, that is soooo cute!! This is exactly why seeing people who look like us occasionally, is very important. It's easier to see our beauty that way. We are beautiful!!!!
Wow its amazing to see how much length and thickness you've gained since beginning your natural hair journey. I hope you, Olivia and Felipe are doing well! Much Luv and Blessings!
Thank you for every video you have posted!!!! I have begun to take better care of my hair, and have discovered that my hair loves shea butter!!!!!!!! Once again thank you!
I'm definitely gonna try this! I've been natural for a little over 2 years and I haven't gotten it trimmed since I did my (not so) big chop! Which I'm guessing is why it's stayed the same length this whole time, even though I have cut it....but not this way! And the twists you ended up with were sooo pretty! Let's see if I can't recreate that....lol
I absolutely love your both your channels. Both helped me as a future mom of a baby girl and with my hair. Thanks. I will definitely try this method in another 6 months since I just trimmed my hair.
Hi, I really like this new version with the date and all, that helps to stay on track. And I also really like the direct demonstration under the shower, I'm a slow learner, lol. I'm starting my return to natural. Merci ( thank you) from Montreal, Canada
I'm doing this tonight..I was going to make an appointment to get my hair blown out and have it trimmed but have been putting it off due to getting heat damage before. Gracias chica chica.
This is great! I trimmed my hair a couple months ago and my hair looked a lot better and I didn't even cut that much off. I can't wait until my hair gets that long. It's almost there. I say another year and I'm there!
Love your hair. It has gotten so long. I need to trim its been a year i think if not longer. I usually go to my sister-in-law who blow drys my hair to do it but i like this way better. I will have to try it. Also i'm amazed that you twist your hair without any product besides conditioner and its still gorgeous.
im glad you uploaded this i needed this to watch right before i go to bed do can tell my cousins about it tomorrow i try to get them to watch youtube videos about hair so they can keep theres heallthy but there lazy they just depend on me talking to them about it all the time
Great tutorial. Those ends really looked great after the trim. The convenience, simplicity and ease of twists while trimming is ideal. How often are you having to wash or co-wash? Any other changes with your regimen?
Oh gosh I just watched the other video where your hair was half this length and it brought back memories!!! I remember when you first started! You are my hairspiration/hairHero!!! LoL I'm done letting other ppl do my hair, I'm going back to my roots and am gonna try your methods... Yes, though you've inspired me for years, I've never tried your regimes 😥🙌🏽I repent LoL love your videos!
Thanks this gives me peace of mind for this process. I was considering doing this on blow dryer hair. Gonna pass on that because my ends looked more damaged than they are. Need moisture! Thnx again
Question! When you do your final rinse to remove the conditioner from your twists, are you rinsing the twists themselves or are you untwisting, rinsing, then re-twisting each twist? Also, how do you stretch them so neatly without any creases or bends in the twists? They are beautiful!
Whit, your hair is always so amazing!! Thanks so much for the inspiration! Since watching your videos I know how to take care of my natural hair ^_^ God Bless!
I just went through an awful hair experience. And to make a long story short I lost my curls ;( Watching this video made me consider a big chop. Thanks for sharing!
Whitney I do that, thanks to you, I'm not trimming yet, I will in a few months. Your Hair is Sooooo Healthy, Gorgeous! Look Forward to UR tutorials, luv2u Olivia and Felipe.
Love your videos! Always learning something new. For instance, using the two shower/conditioning caps is a great idea! I can't believe I never thought of that before. I'll have to try it out.
Hey nap! I am so happy u r making these videos... Could you make one on how to keep your scalp hydrated? I have dry itchy scalp and even though I moisturizer my hair my scalp still feels dry and itchy
Yep, I gotta update this!
Naptural85 pleassssseee I am waiting
Naptural85 yes!
I was just about to ask if you have changed the way you trim your hair! I will be patiently waiting on your update. :)
Yes please do. I came on RUclips to see how you trim your hair...Because i need to trim mine. Only to see that the video is 5 years old 😭😭😂
Naptural85 please do!
I just want to testify that this method is BOMB! I am transitioning from heat damage right now and I desperately needed a method for trimming my ends consistently so my curls can thrive. I'll be using this method until all the heat damage is gone! Thank you sooooo much
Oh wow. I bet it's all gone by now
Watching your videos make me so impatient! I feel like my hair is never gonna grow that long.
I feel the same way.
Same :(
Don't know what id do without you Whitney, I went to the shop to get my hair cornrowed for the first time since natural (4 yrs) and she pointed out that I had to dust my ends because it was snapping all over the place. I wish my hair would detangle this easily! I'm still going trim my hair myself and keep my fingers crossed that I don't lose a ton of hair!
Get a proper conditioner with slip and it will help
Wow you are so important. We appreciate you so much sis like really and truly.
i've been watching your videos for almost 2 years and i never get tired of them. You're a hair guru in every sense
Great tutorial: I tried it last night on my hair, 2 years post big chop (I actually shaved it skin bald!!! And now it's above bra-length). I'm two years behind you in length and I can't wait to show off my 4 year natural hair! Fabulous stuff girl.
And yet another one of ur routines that I follow lol :-)

she is #1 I read in a magazine for You TUBERS
I was just complaining about how dry and brittle my hair is. You have motivated me to take better care of my hair. Your hair is gorgeous!!
Both of your channels are so easy to watch! Thanks for taking the mystery out of natural hair styling :)
This popped up on the Watch Again menu on my main page. It's like it knew I needed to suck it up and trim my hair again!
Thank you so much for your helpful tutorials. I have been natural for years now, but never took the time to learn how to take care of my hair. Thank you so so much for the FB shout out!!! Love your channels, you are really helping me on my natural hair journey!!!
Your hair is gorgeous! I have been focused on the health of my hair instead of length. Once I started to that, I was retaining all of my growth.
Hey Naptural!! You should do a hair journey video. I was just looking at your 1st videos when your hair was hort and boy have you come a long way. Literally a LONGGGGG WAYY. lol You are one of my natural hair inspirations. Take care!
I just wanted to say I did this method with a leave in instead of a regular conditioner and it worked very well
you are an inspiration. i love your videos so simple to follow and to be a wife and new mother it's so good to see how dedicated you are to educating other women on natural haircare
I hate seeing questions that were answered in the video...I truly do. >-<
Especially when the video isn't even that long.
Your hair has grown sooo much in 3 years. Living proof people..living proof.
Thank you! This is a whole new discovery for me. I'm beginning to fall in love with my natural hair.
Wow thanks for the tips Whitney. I've always blown dry my hair straight to clip my ends. Will definitely try this the next time a co-wash. You're the best, as usual. Stay blessed!

Just did your trimming method. I have amazing results. Thanks!
Please, please, please do a length check, pretty please with sprinkles on top!!! I'd love to see where your hair reaches! Your hair has grown so much! Plus, I'd love to see what shoulder-length natural hair looks like & where it reaches without the shrinkage!
Just trimmed my hair with this method last night! Thanks for the tips :)
Your natural hair is so luscious! I love your videos and the creative techniques you used during your journey. Keep it up Nap! :)
i really love watching your videos I was skeptical about going to a hair salon n getting it cut.
Wow one day I hope to grow my natural hair to your length, love your positive energy and videos!
Your new method seems very simple, efficient, & to the point! Thanks so much 4 sharing.
Oh my god, that is soooo cute!! This is exactly why seeing people who look like us occasionally, is very important. It's easier to see our beauty that way. We are beautiful!!!!
Your videos are always so well done and informative. Straight to the point too!
Wow its amazing to see how much length and thickness you've gained since beginning your natural hair journey. I hope you, Olivia and Felipe are doing well! Much Luv and Blessings!

Ok, i have been so scared to trim my own hair but you make it look less complicated, so I'm gonna give it a try!
Great tutorial!!!! I did this last week and wore mini twists all week and it was super soft! Will be doing this every time its time to ttrim!
Thank you for every video you have posted!!!! I have begun to take better care of my hair, and have discovered that my hair loves shea butter!!!!!!!! Once again thank you!
I'm so glad you made this video, I always thought I would have to straighten my hair to trim it. Thanks a bunch!
Also i'm amazed that you twist your hair without any product besides conditioner and its still gorgeous.
her hair is so gorgeous
You are my absolute favorite youtuber!! You've inspired and informed me so much! love those twists they're so cute!!!! :)

Great tutorial. Those ends really looked great after the trim. The convenience, simplicity and ease of twists while trimming is ideal. How often are you having to wash or co-wash? Any other changes with your regimen?
removing every other row on the brush is genius thank you!
I need to trim my hair so badly but have been terrified but after watching this video I have a bit more confidence to give it a try!
Great vid! You have been my inspiration to stay natural. I am one year into my journey and loving it.
I love your hair,, thank you for sharing this trimming technique.Keep the tutorials coming.
I'm going to try this this summer once I take my sew-in out. You make it look so easy. IM EXCITED!
Will definitely be using your tips to trim my hair! Your hair is gorgeous!!
Whit, your hair is always so amazing!! Thanks so much for the inspiration! Since watching your videos I know how to take care of my natural hair ^_^ God Bless!
